I am an actor and content creator with Hollywood credits including roles on Lucifer (Netflix), Starlight Christmas (Hallmark), JT Leroy (Universal Studios), etc. In this channel, I offer insight to Kpop performances using my 10+ years of training in dance, acting, singing and overall performance. In dance, my forte are contemporary and musicals and have done most of my performances in theatre. Although my channel is mostly known for dance analysis, I am currently inactive in the dance community.

It’s like I always say: Seulgi is exact with her dancing. Not over, not under, not too much facial expressions not too little. Pretty much she embodies the concept and hits exact spots with full control

When you mention Ayumi Hamasaki, I was like " Yes sir, tell them" lol. One thing that people barely mentioned about kpop is the influence of japanese music there. I can be wrong tho, but I think in the 90s, 2000s and probably in 80s too, Japan have a lot of fierce female performances. Especially in 90s and 2000s where their music is heavily influenced with black culture and western music. They made it more conceptual and melodic-heavy, which reminds me to early kpop. That’s why it was kinda funny to me that mnet made produce series with 48 girls rather than with AVEX or LDH that have rather similar standard to kpop. Every then and now Japan do have a lot of crazy performers, but they don’t really hit it big, except for the exile tribe guys, Perfume and Daichi Miura. Japanese music industry now filled more with genuine musicians, most of these artists are very independent musically yet they have a very massive following. So its probably why its harder for a pop group to success in Japan now, since relatable songs selling more and kpop already filled the spaces for performers market. That’s probably why XG is marketed internationally. But ofc many unique performers are still triving, try FEMM and Tokyo Gegegay.

i hope you can explore more on red velvet, especially Seulgi. They don't have a lot of dance practice but they have Rookie, Umpah Umpah, and others that you already reacted to I recommend that you check the choreography for Be Natural and some of Seulgi's dance covers (Rock Yo Hips, Cartier, Hi Bich, Bury A Friend, Did It On'em, Money Bag, Make a Wish and her tutting with Spella) Seulgi also have a collab stage with Taemin for Drip Drop.
