I am an actor and content creator with Hollywood credits including roles on Lucifer (Netflix), Starlight Christmas (Hallmark), JT Leroy (Universal Studios), etc. In this channel, I offer insight to Kpop performances using my 10+ years of training in dance, acting, singing and overall performance. In dance, my forte are contemporary and musicals and have done most of my performances in theatre. ITZY have been criticized in the past for not having powerful enough vocals, so having a title track that showcases them is lovely for a change. I think that is partially the reason why they kept the choreo light but intricate enough on the finger/hand movements. Also, personally I was extremely impressed with Ryujin's face gestures. It's well known that they're great performers, but I didn't expect her to get even better.
I think Ryujin and yuna have just gotten better and better. Even Chae has been glowing and showing more versatile expressions lately. I keep saying the mature direction of itzy is IT

FINALLY. Yes, the recent releases have been very vocal focused which is why most of the new choreo isn’t as high energy as before
But I keep seeing people say that it’s a flop era 😫 like come on man. Honestly I’ve been so impressed with them and FINALLY MORE CHAE AND LIA VOCALS SLAYY

Just an info for everyone here, They were preparing cheshire even before sneakers, from what i have heard (since they had 10 months gap from loco to sneakers)
The reason for a simpler choreo was specified by ITZY in an interview (in an article). They mentioned how Chaeryeong have been suffering from knee pains, Yeji had a back injury before and in many fansite photos it's seen how Ryujin has so many bruises from their hard choreos. I think the company decided to give them a not-so-demanding choreo this time since most of their tracks has harder choreos and as a midzy I really agree with this.
"Cheshire" from the first listen was actually their MAMA 2022 performance and it got me moving so I knew I liked it. Then I watched the MV and it was OK but their dance practice video is super HYPE! IMO, I cannot wait until they mature in the next few years and they go a bit risky with a mature look and song but I understand that will eventually come in time. Choreography is a given with them and the KPop industry knows this already. As for "Cheshire", ITZY doing numbers on iTunes Global Charts, first week physical and digital sales will come out and we can all say they're doing just fine. Stan ITZY!
Same! I have been telling so many mitzy’s that this new direction will be so good for them. Like MITM is proof that they can kill the mature style. Yuna and Chae are killing it and Ryujin’s facials? Yes! And ofc Lia’s vocals!! Finally. Yeji’s charisma 10/10
I'm likely less knowledgable, but weren't people iffy about the more mature sexy style? Like wasn't that the whole thing with In The Morning? Cheshire as a whole feels like a fun mix between In The Morning and Not Shy tbh.
of course itzy can handle the hard choreo but they don’t need to do it every time. sometimes it’s okay to just have an easy choreo, it doesn’t need to be hard hitting every time. that’s just my opinion though
But there is no easy choreo in itzy songs for me😭

I like this comeback too much. True it's not that upbeat choreo heavy like we know from Itzy but this song is soo good! It shows their vocals are also no joke!
I agree with you. I haven’t vibed with an itzy track this much since MITM honestly. I’m so glad they went back to the slightly mature direction. I swear they are all killing it. This is so them!

imo this dance fits perfectly with this song, i feel like we as an audience needs to get out of the habit of thinking big/popular/performance heavy groups like itzy NEED hard or heavy hitting dances for a pay off. this song is vocally centric. a bit more on the sultry side (which we havent seen at all from them!) maybe its cause i'm engrossed in the culture of ballroom but i cannot see voguing incorporated into this type of comeback. whaacking either, neither fit the vibe of what they were going for. i think they hit the nail on the head with what they have and im glad they decided to go a different route cause everyone already knows itzy can dance

What i think generally is ITZY’s fandom are just FRAGILE with other gg’s who can easily sweep their attention that’s why after releasing sneakers and boys like you, almost 50% of the fandom left and it saddens me. Now that they’re back on track, midzys are coming back one by one. They have a very fragile fandom that’s why JYP should be really careful with their releases especially they’re still leading in 4th Gen with their records but in a short period of time, it’s being broken by other gg’s that’s why JYP need to step up and pick the best Title Track for ITZY. Something that fit for their image and fandom. I still have faith in ITZY, Talent and discography-wise.
sneakers fits their concept tho, i just wish the song couldve been better. icy was also a quirky fun concept but the song was actually rlly good lol (my fave itzy tt to this day 💪)
@@luminous8228 what exactly do you mean by "left"? If they just didn't like these songs and decided to wait for a better release then it sounds completely normal to me. We aren't obligated to like everything, you know. If they dramatically "unstanned" the group, then you shouldn't take such people seriously anyway.
PS. I don't consider myself a midzy, I just check out their music when it comes out
Yeah I was thinking that when I watched their performance for mama. They ate up so hard and it made me remember how they would be up there with twice RV blackpink and other popular groups if only they weren't given such weak CBS by jyp long ago. They fell off after loco. They are finally back on track.

It is not easy choreo... You need to have really good body control... I've seen covers and none of them can do it like itzy. They are performing with personality that makes choreo even better.
