I am an actor and content creator with Hollywood credits including roles on Lucifer (Netflix), Starlight Christmas (Hallmark), JT Leroy (Universal Studios), etc. In this channel, I offer insight to Kpop performances using my 10+ years of training in dance, acting, singing and overall performance. In dance, my forte are contemporary and musicals and have done most of my performances in theatre. Although my channel is mostly known for dance analysis, I am currently inactive in the dance community.
They sampled Bach's Air on the G String here!! The MV is heavily inspired by Bosch's The Garden of Earthly Delights (1490-1500) and other famous impressionism and renaissance paintings like Woman With a Parasol by Claude Monet, Hide and Seek (1873) and Young Woman Knitting (1878) by Berthe Morisot.

Red Velvet is not an ordinary kpop girl group, they really are doing ART arts
The classical piece that was sampled here is Johann Sebastian Bach's air g-string. And the director of the MV also said that the whole MV was based on The Garden of Eternal Delights by Hieronymus Bosch not only that in the beginning of the MV they were in a painting these are the painting that they were based on:
Pre-Raphaelites - Ophelia and Nymphs finding the Head of Orpheus
The Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood was a loose group of English poets and artist in the mid 19th century. Their distinct style is frequently referenced in recent pop culture and can also be found in A.C.E’s “Higher” or Gfriend’s “Apple”.
A second frame which is yeri and Wendy depicts a scene reminiscent of Waterhouse’s painting “Nymphs finding the Head of Orpheus”. Orpheus, who was killed by the women of Thrace is found and buried by the muses below Mt. Olympus.

The music video reference a lot of European painting, but the story revolves on one particular painting (triptych oil painting) "The Garden of Earthly Delights" by Bosch. It's a three panel painting that depicts 3 things "The Beginning (The Garden of Eden where Adam and Eve used to live)" "People engaging in sins (Lust and Gluttony)" " The Hell"
Some theory says they created KWANGYA and that Seulgi is the Black Mamba but we are still yet to find since Red Velvet is releasing a trilogy again based on what the members have said.

i've been teaching myself how to dance through learning kpop choreos and i can without a doubt say that red velvet's dances are SO TIRING because of the formation changes, literally there's always a member moving at some point. like their dances may not be everglow style where there's a ton of moves per few seconds but it's for sure the travelling parts that get you. so glad you reacted to the girls !!
I think at the start why joy's pose is bent a little is because she needs to level with them since she's the tallest 🥲

1. Joy lying on water (Ophelia - John Everett Milley)
2. Irene swing ("The Swing" - Fragonard)
3. Irene with umbrella with Seulgi ("The Woman Holding the Umbrella" - Monet)
4. Yeri Hair Style with strawberry ("Four Seasons" - Mucha)
5. At the End of the MV is the fountain frome from the painting of Hieronymus Bosch , it can be found in The Garden of Earthly Delights
6. Seulgi standing on the ladder (paul dominique - lady looking behind the wall)
7. Wendy & Yeri looking at Joy in the water (paul dominique - Nymphs Finding the Head of Orpheus)
Hieronymus Bosch painting is all related to this Feel My Rhythm MV including the RedVelvet all sitting inside of room with a table (actually is a monster)(Climbing the Ladder: On Hieronymus Bosch's Vision of Hell)

I think Joy bends more to balance the height difference. There are many parts where the other girls do the movement standing straight but Joy has her knees bent

Hey Jeff! Love your videos and analysis. I wanted to make a request for a new group if that's okay. PIXY is a six member girl group which have this dark fantasy theme, and their storyline follows fairies that have lost their wings.
The choreo for all their title tracks are very expressive, and I think you'd be impressed by them.
If you were to consider it, I'd recommend watching their Addicted dance practice, Wings dance practice and Let me Know dance practice.

I think the reason why Joy bent a little during the intro part (Irene's intro) is that she's trying to match her height to the other members. She does this occasionally throughout the whole dance practice. Red Velvet is so smol TT^TT

actually in joy's case in the beginning. She made that hop on purpose. If you watched all of her fancam she always does it. And She really bent a little in order to match her members height. And the reason why she is hopping because it's a little hard to maintain balance while you bent your waist. And just like jeff explain the other members don't bent. They are just straight.

11:22 The dance practice video is in full motion because it doesn't sing. When performing live, the vocalist for that part temporarily omits some of the dance moves.
Of course, they are trained to not get out of breath while dancing while singing at the same time.
