Bare with me as I go on another dark adventure hehe, I absolutely LOVED THIS! As always, this is just my interpretation and my understanding of the lyrics/visuals :)

this is so seulgi and i love it, it reminds me of Monster and I'm glad she went for the dark concept because it suits her so much, her voice is incredible 😭

So, go ask around for people who HAVE met her in person. They will all tell you that she is an introvert and blushes easily when she is praised.
She cries when she laughs really hard.
She really loves her members and she likes to take care of them and make sure that everybody is doing well before, during and after work.
She's closest with Wendy out of all the members of RV, if that tells you anything (the people you hang out with says a lot about you).
There are COUNTLESS videos of her being a goofball when she is not performing.

Seulgi's solo concept is so nice like of course duality is a construct, u make the rules you think you're breaking and you coexist with ur shadow and the more u break down the more you'll open urself up to the darkness/desires in u and that's how u evolve, she's so real for that

i wait for the SEULGI solo debut since RED VELVET debut eveybody know how good dancer she's and everybody know how loved she's in this industry but because of the amazing WENDY voice's not that much people know how great singer she is . her voice is so rich , i love her tone and she's another born actress idol . not disappointed by her at all now she into the velvet side of they're concept like MONSTER or PEEK A BOO
I will never stop saying that Seulgi it's the most artistic woman in the K-pop industry nowadays. And also I always will be impressed on how such a pure, cute and shy girl Seulgi is in real life it's also able to do this kind of vibes so well, she is indeed an all-rounder 🔥

Nooo I definitely do not think you're missing the message here, you're spot on as far as I can say! I do think that 28 is a representation of the summation of self-knowledge, like you said. When she says you could have run away, I think that's the evil side saying you could have turned away from me and you know why, but you lean on me still at times - I think that's because sometimes to be strong when we're hurt we feel like we have to turn to the dark side of ourselves to make ourself stronger, because the kind of good part of us is hurt too much. YES you got to this part in the extended section! I think Split is a good analogy. She keeps saying how she's not the devil, like she's communicating that it's more healthy if you don't try to ignore this side of yourself I think - with the no bad intentions. I do think maybe it's a suggestion of an integration. I feel like the good side of her in white is saying she's breaking every rule - that is her saying she's violating her own sense of good. And then she says she's making the rules - dark side is demonstrating the power she has as a part of her inner self. She's like you'll hate me, but you'll rely on me again when you're weak (as you break). So maybe Seulgi is the one in danger (as opposed to us haha) but she can handle it now because she is a grown up like you said. I think maybe when it says Do you just love the pain, maybe she is questioning why Seulgi has been resisting the dark side of herself so strongly - because that fight is hurting her. I wonder if the mattress is a representation of the good side of herself retreating and hiding after she is hurt, and then she's burning the bed because she doesn't need to hide anymore from her dark side?
I love how you go deep with these because this song is complex and deserves it! Also - this is not a reaction request just a recommendation for you that you've probably heard 500 times - but you MUST watch Naughty if you haven't yet. But yes she's such an incredible performer - vocals, acting, dancing.... and she is killing it in every way.

The white version of her is not-so-pure and the Red version of her is not-so-evil so that shows the coexistence of evil and good

My favourite part of this MV is when the "light version" of Seulgi in the sunshine turns grey (2:15 ish) and we get that scene of her in another outfit with everything grey, I assume to represent the morally grey nature of humanity. Also the quick cutaway scene of her sunshine location turning red (3:01)

I think you did a pretty accurate and detailed analysis of the song and video. I don't know if you watched the album trailer, but according to Seulgi the character there is living her reality, and the MV is sort of a dream-like state depicting the struggle between her good and evil side.

Your interpretation is way more than just a reaction. It's therapeutic. Today one of my students and I were talking about where we could be in life if we just stopped trying to be too good and shy to accept our strengths. And your line 'everything you want is on the other side of fear, just let me in... ' I couldn't figure out why Seulgi's song caught my attention so much and I couldn't wait to hear your thoughts on this one... Your interpretation showed me the way out, the way to get closer to realize my potential to a greater extent. Accepting your Shadow instead of running away and proving it wrong opens so much power you can lean on. The song is genius. Your interpretation is genius too.

Other than Sunmi, Seulgi is one of the few artists I can brave making a comment for.
I really enjoyed your interpretation; you explained yourself eloquently so it felt like a natural viewpoint.
One thing I really enjoyed about this song (apart from everything) was how simple the music video was. SM didn't go bombastic or over the top because they know that Seulgi is such a talented and hardworking performer and vocalist that the simplicity would assist rather than detract.
About to go and listen to the rest of the album now as I'm sure it will be great!

I LOVED it and Seulgi is my ult bias... But the MV felt cheap. I thought it was gonna be something along the lines of Gasoline from Key, but it felt like this mv had no budget. The trailer was SO PRETTY and aesthetic and nicely shot... And now we have Seulgi floating, Seulgi singing on a boring background, and her dancing on another boring monochrome background. It just... Wasn't enough in my opinion. And I say this as a Rv stan since debut, Seulgi biased, she's my ult, RV is my gg ult group... I'm a bit disappointed...? I mean, I still got every single album 'cause the pictures are spectacular, every single photo in the photobooks is mural worthy lol

Dear If u want gasoline frm KEY then what's the difference of seulgi among soloist artist if she do that, that's why she make her own solo right to showcase her music side and her owned interpretation and style as artist,, Seulgi won't copy other soloist style bcoz thats them and if she do then there's no different among artist who chooses to be gansta badass more lights and colorful studio props which yknow TREND Kpopies these generation. Whilst other side AGAIN would call out bcoz her style is kinda the same by these generations. 🤷
28 reasons is shot on one of the most expensive cameras available in the industry. every shot is constructed to almost perfect photographical geometry and everything looks clean cut and artistic. this is seulgi's vision for this video as i know she had at least some directorial authority. what more were you expecting? flashing lights and gold chains? that's not what seulgi envisioned for this video.
