Thanks Hibbett Sports for sending me the Pegasus 37! www.hibbett.com/
Reinvigorate your stride with the Nike Air Zoom Pegasus 37. Delivering the same fit and feel that runners love, the shoe has an all-new forefoot cushioning unit and foam for maximum responsiveness. The result is a durable, lightweight trainer designed for everyday running.
    Spring With Your Step
Nike React foam at the midsole is lightweight, springy and durable. More foam means better cushioning without the bulk. An Air Zoom unit at the forefoot is twice as large as previous versions, delivering more bounce with every step. It's top-loaded to be closer to your foot for better responsiveness.
    Evolved Fit
A midfoot band adapts to the size of your foot, keeping you comfortable and secure with every step.
    Ready for Speed
A translucent upper has the look of speed and is made to help your foot while you run. Mesh details throughout promote ventilation.
    More Benefits
The Pegasus 37 is specifically tuned for him, with an air unit that delivers just the right cushioning for your run. Nike Air Zoom Pegasus 37 $120
    Pros
Higher off ground, thicker cushioning than 36
    REACT!
    Smooth heel to toe transition
    Forefoot cushion is good
    Heel cushion is good
attached / detached tongue same as 36, thin
traction is good, extra flex groove in forefoot a nice addition.
Deeper cut out of mid section on sole makes more of arch like feel, max cushioning as result?\
dual layer upper adds softness inside
No more flywire (didnt use for lockdown anyways.
    Options for EXTRA WIDE!
    Cons
Slippery on some wet surfaces for me.
pointy heel collar (not as high as 36 though)
    36 is DEEP discount now
different PSI in airbag for men vs women is odd to me.

What’s New (and Familiar) About the Pegasus 37
    What's New
Designers of the Pegasus transitioned from a full-length Zoom Air bag to a forefoot Zoom Air bag (the forefoot is where you rebound from the ground, and need an airbag the most).
The bag is twice as thick as the Pegasus 36 Zoom Air bag, offering more energy return.
The team top-loaded the Nike Air Zoom technology into React foam for the midsole. React foam is lighter, more responsive and more durable than the previous Cushlon foam.
The translucent upper gives the shoe a lightweight, feather-like look.
An updated midfoot enables a fit band to secure your foot.
The color shift across the lateral side of the shoe highlights the placement of the Zoom Air bag in the forefoot.
    What's Familiar
The silhouette maintains a heel collar that tapers away from the Achilles tendon - a design influenced by direct athlete feedback.
The familiar waffle rubber outsole helps provide trusted durability.
With every update made to the Pegasus during the years, runner benefits and design focus remain on improving comfort and fit.
The Nike Air Zoom Pegasus 37 and the Nike Air Zoom Pegasus 37 FlyEase launch April 28.

The different PSI in men and women versions of the shoe was due to the research and feedback Nike had gotten from their testers, where men wanted a firmer cushion and women wanted a softer cushion. Not to do with how men are generally heavier or heavy-set or light-set bodies (although this could be a contributing factor).

Well, the average weight for a U.S. women are 166.2 lbs while the men are 195.5. That's basically a difference of 30 lbs, which makes a huge difference. If a 200 lb woman was to use the woman's shoe, she'd probably wouldn't like the softness of it. Kind of like females with bigger breasts need more support than ones with smaller breasts. I'm 140 lbs and prefer softness over firmness but then again, I'm not heavy enough to require it.

The choice to differ the PSI in the air bags was made by Nike because that’s what their general female consumers wanted. I’m not sure how big of an issue it would be to people, but that’s a great point, I never thought about it that way

This is a good review from an everyday lifestyle type of user perspective for this shoe. However, from a runner's perspective, especially a person that will use them for daily use to train for 5k to marathon events its was only somewhat useful. The review doesn't explain the real reason for moving away from flywire to this new semi-attached tongue with thicker lace loops, it just gives a preference answer or that it's older tech. The real reason is because this new direction provides a more consistent/firmer/more comfortable lockdown that doesn't hurt your foot whereas the flywire can start to hurt because the wire starts to constrict your foot and even cause pain around the touchpoints of the wire. Secondly, it's never mentioned if the shoe is suitable for the kind of pronation a person may have. Is it better for neutral runners? Does the higher stack make it less stable for overpronators? How long does the shoe last in terms of mileage? Usually, a good trainer can give you about 150-200miles before shoe integrity is compromised and I suspect this one should be on the higher range for daily trainer beaters.
Traction looks to be good and is designed for multiple surfaces whether it's grass, pavement, gravel, or dirt. the teeth like features should make good for these surfaces. The higher stack height might be a problem for uneven surfaces like grass and you'll have to be very careful not to roll your ankle. Only run in areas where you know there aren't any potholes or unpredictable unevenness.
Explaining the airzoom, react and zoomX differences was on point and pretty important. Didn't mention that the airzoom unit is filled with nitrogen which is better than just air or oxygen though but all good.
Lastly, it was mentioned that there are wide foot sizes available which is great but if you have narrow feet go with a half size down your normal size for a snug/zero movement fit. This is important for avid runners as the extra movement causes blisters, loss of energy return, and loss of stability etc..
Yes this is a review of the review to cover for a few things avid runners should know. Its definitely possible to dive in deeper and get even more technical but that should be done as an in-depth review rather than a first impression on feet review video..

Hello. I have these shoes. I am a runner in 36' on 10km, and I do not see myself running a 10 with, or even a semi: they are not made to go fast. On slow gaits (jogging, EF) up to gaits approaching 4'00 ~ 4'15 per km, nickel: good energy return, optimal comfort. But beyond these speeds, we feel constrained at the level of the stride, the sole seems to play more against us than with us, hence a feeling of too much energy expenditure. I wonder what the "Turbo" version of this Pegasus 37 is worth at this level suddenly ... Maybe it is more versatile and therefore quite simply a much better choice.

interesting! I wonder why they broke them down into sex though, it should have just had different PSI versions IMO especially for bigger runners just my 2 cents

    • @gilbertoflores7397
      @gilbertoflores7397 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

@@heskicks the PSI difference is not for "bigger runners". What Nike said in their video about the shoe was that men prefer firmer, and women liked softer. So a lower PSI made it softer. Not that if you're heavy, you need the men's version. It's soft vs firm, and not lightweight vs heavyweight.
They need to distinguish between men's and women's because the last for the women's run narrower than the standard men's. Especially in runners where fit is everything. So they usually can't have a unisex performance runner, due to the difference in foot shape/widths.

I received a Nike Pegasus 37 as a gift and for the first time in more than a decade, I’ve tried wearing a traditional running shoe. My usuals are minimalist shoes and my thickest shoe would be the Nike Free 5.0.
Having used the Pegasus for a few times, I’ve noticed heel discomfort on one foot. I’m not sure if it’s coincidence, or my foot not being used to the large stack height and drop of the shoe.
    Any thoughts on this?

I have a question, I run in big bulky asics shoes and my whole cross country team does. I noticed that I have a mid foot or forefoot strike. So my question is this, should I switch to these? I’m a bit skeptical because I don’t want to run in these and then get injured because I have weak knees that are very injury prone.

If you switch to shoes that are more flexible (like these) mid season you're gonna be stressing a lot of very small stabilizer muscles in the foot that are most likely atrophied from running in stiff asics shoes. So yeah, probably will get injured. I'd just wait until off season where you can gradually ramp up mileage in these shoes.

Logan Kelley thanks for answering my question but I have another one. My team trains on all kinds of terrain, roads, dirt trails, gravel, down and up hills that are both dirt and road, we might even go on grass for a bit, and we even train after or during it is raining so slippery wet surfaces. My question is would a flexible light running shoe like this suit my training or should I just stick to big bulky asics? If you do know of any shoes like this can you give me some recommendations please.

@@luv2clash970 Yo my bad just saw this, but yeah i'd say you'd be fine. Ive done a lot of trail running and road running on my Vivobarefoot Primus Lites (very minimal) and the Altra Escalantes (somewhat minimal). Flexible shoes actually get better grip on trails and wet surfaces in my experience because the foot itself is conforming to the contour of the surface. If you want something more flexible but not extremely minimal maybe go for the Altra brand, they do super thin road shoes and a little bulkier trail shoes.

Turbo 2 is one of the best running shoes ever made. Of course, it depends on what you want from a running shoe but if you're going for fast, mid-distance runs.. Turbo 2 is the thing.

the issue i have with the 36 still seems to happen with the 37 - heel slip (see 3:40) and lots of cracking through the compression unit after minimal use. the bounce is nice and grip is good, but the fit and lateral stability make it hard to recommend

These look decent enough for a lifestyle sneaker

    • @vlogsbyalejandro
      @vlogsbyalejandro 4 ปีที่แล้ว

It's not a lifestyle sneaker. It's literally a running shoe.
This guy barely even knows what he's talking about. He's just a "sneakerhead."
Watch Kofuzi or Michael's reviews. The fact that he didn't know what the "pointy" thing in the back was for proves it. Nike claims that it's more aerodynamic, which would help the runner achieve faster speeds.

    • @cnsmooth
      @cnsmooth 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

@@vlogsbyalejandro I mean hes not really trying to say he knows about running shoes, you are being a little harsh there. Even Kofusi as far as I know hasnt explained the pointy thing, or if he has he did so a couple of generations back because I know he didnt do it for the 37 and I mustve missed if he did it for the 36. No one really is coming to this channel for proper advice for running shoes, I was actually shocked to see him review them but was glad he did as that colourway looks decent enough for an everday shoe.
I dunno theres just something about your assumptions that bug me. I know its not a lifestyle shoe, my current runner is the peg 36 trail goretex. That doesnt mean i wouldn't like to own a pair of pegs that I could wear on the way to the gym, run or even work and still look stylish. I know you dont mean harm but i dunno man its rubbed me the wrong way

@@cnsmooth Yeah. I was definitely in the wrong there and I understand what you mean. I'd like to apologize, I shouldn't have been that harsh. I'm just usually like this tho. Lol, suff like this can easily frustrate me so I need to do a better job at handling my emotions. Thank you for your reply tho. I really appreciate it. I definitely didn't mean any harm, I just wanted people to know the actual purpose of the shoe and how the mechanics of the shoe actually work.
I know that I could've handled that better by being more respectful tho. Again, thank you for your reply. It definitely means a lot. 🙏🏼 You don't know me, but you're actually out here helping me out by reminding me of my flaws! Haha, that's why I'm thankful for your comment. 👍🏼 Have a good one!
