He truly rocks the hell out of this song. Love this tune. Fantastic lyrics. Most importantly he is one of the few who stays true to himself and doesn't waiver from that. That takes a great deal of courage in the cut throat business he has chosen. I realize he makes his living off the music, but I believe for him, it's all about the music, not the almighty dollar.

@@kleetus92 Yeah, Petty was known as a staunch guardian of his artistic control and artistic freedom. In the late 70's he was embroiled in a legal battle over the fact that ABC records was sold to MCA records. He was furious with them for making this major change without his consent. He wants complete control of his music and the record labels don't like to give in to the artist's. And in his case, THAT doesn't fly. Don't blame him a bit for standing his ground.

Your words echoed my feelings 101% Deborah. I didn't even really understand it at the time as I had never gotten this feeling for a passing favorite rocker, but Tom was different. I haven't felt that way for family members for God's sake, but all I can say was that it was an honest emotion, and how I felt, and that was his gift. Fading by degrees

You keep running for another place
To find that saving grace
Don't you baby?
You're rolling up the carpet
Of your father's two-room mansion
No headroom for expansion no more
And there's a corner of the floor
They're telling you is yours
You're confident but not really sure
And it's hard to say
Who you are these days
But you run on anyway
Don't you baby?
You keep running for another place
To find that saving grace

To find that saving grace
