Tom and Mike have such an awesome understanding and depth of the blues. For any band to rock this hard this later in their career is mind boggling. And here you have Tom n' the boys doing what they still love to do--amps on ten and still channeling the energy of what got 'em into music in the first place.

Tom Petty is probably Americas finest rocker. I'm hesitant to make the claim with so many other contenders but when I think of songs in which lyrics matter...I keep coming back to Petty. There have been lots of bands with 'a certain sound' (like the Cure, not American but) and lots who borrowed heavily from country (Eagles) and several where the guitar was front and center (SRV, metal bands, EVH) but for great lyrics with plenty of novelty TP&THB ranks very very high.

Was at the same show my friend. 27 at the time. The whole crowd sang every word. Tom beamed from ear to ear. It was indescribable
