Damn Tom Petty was so young and Stevie Nicks so enchanting.... Those were good times to be alive. There was a flavor to life, and the energy flowed so freely. Now its washed away by the lies of today.
Bob Woods, What you say is so sadly true. I was in middle school in Detroit, when I 1st heard this song, It gave me freaking chills and still doe's. Beautifully profound and deeply ,as you stated, "ENCHANTING!" RIP Tom Petty. & mad Props to Stevie Nicks.
@Stevie Nicks I’m tempted to call. I don’t know what I would say but. Would cool if the legendary Stevie Nicks was on the other end. I would ask you to sing Landslide and would tear up like I always do. 😂

After seeing Stevie live the other night, it's clear she really loved Tom. They had an amazing friendship. And reading up in it, he seems to be one of the only men who was immune to her allure. The fact that she has friendships and musical partnerships going back almost 50 years says a lot about her work ethic, character, and the respect people in the industry have for her. All her relationship drama was publicized, but that doesn’t seem to be who she really is. Love you, Stevie. RIP Tom.
she 100% slept with everyone in the band lol. The verse "There's people running 'round loose in the world Ain't got nothing better to do They make a meal of some bright-eyed kid You need someone to look after you" I full believe this is her saying that to Tom to warn him.
I love it when she sings the line make a meal of some bright-eyed kid, then Tom comes on and she precedes to stare at him like he's the bright-eyed kid that she's making a meal out of. LOL. BTW, love your profile icon picture.
CMissShelleyMichelle Thats crazy because i love that part too(the way she looks at him) He reminds me of a young boy intimidated by this older beautiful woman ...Its just so cute....He looks so innocent..

It's amazing what just a few notes in the right progression can do for a song. The lead part by Mike Campbell, 4 simple notes create a haunting lead And the drummer, Stan Lynch does a superb job !!
Especially since we lost Tom, I hope Stevie lives to like 95 and stays in good health (so far seems like she is, she's hella young at heart and still beautiful as ever)
I am 50, my daughter is 23,loves Tom Petty, raised her well. So proud. Good music knows no age, you just need a friend, an aunt , mother or father to introduce you. Tom Petty is a legend, hardly better song writer can be found. I only hope that new generations can learn from his music and have their own music pillars and not fleeting popularity contests with hardly any substance. What a timeless duet.
Have any of you met her backstage, talked to her? Yes, I do agree... she is... magnetic...irresisteble. But she had a tough difficult life, I understand. But still nice and decent, right?
Totally agree. But there‘s „today“ Band called „The Pretty Reckless“ Check ‚em out! Especially the song Rock‘n‘Roll Heaven…the lyrics say it all really

The REAL reason is this. I tell you true. The writers' Guild went on strike. It lasted some time. Nobody to write songs, movies, t.v., etc. EVERYTHING changed after that however, the English underground bands invaded America and that brief interlude caused the end of music as we knew it. Stevie was so beautiful and seductive. This song is really the epitome of of the best the 70s had to offer as far as vocals and soul with Stevie Nicks and Tom Petty. I am so glad to have lived it
Seeing him live twice, once just a few months before his death were a couple of the happiest times of my life. Rock Legend. Forever missed. NEVER FORGOTTEN. ROCK ON BROTHER.
The other day I was driving down the street and my daughter was in the passenger seat, she's 20 yrs old and she ask me if I had ever heard of Fleetwood Mac. After I laughed for a minute, I was happy to tell her that I do indeed know and love Fleetwood Mac and that Stevie Nicks also has other songs she did in her solo career. My daughter was excited to hear this and now we jam out together. 🤘
My oldest son will be 21 in July and he likes listening to this music too. He doesn't like new music and asks me what bands from the 60's-80's he should listen to. Makes me proud 😀
Please do yourself a favor and look up the Tom Petty documentary on Netflix. Tells the whole story from the beginning and it's actually him telling it and she's in it too and this song has a great story behind it. Check it out!
For me the whole band is great, but I often end up listening to Stan more than the other guys as the song progresses. I thought they lost something significant when he left, even though his replacement is a technically great drummer.
This song helped me 30 years later to get me out of a mentally abusive relationship! Thought they were the love of my life! Then they used words to hurt my son. 😡. My son and I listened to this song, cried together, I looked at them and said "Get out, stop dragging our hearts around" I hugged my son after my Ex left and never looked back... Thank you @StevieNicks 🙏♥️
Stevie uses her eyes to envelop the listener in her infatuation with Petty. Meanwhile Petty sings to her as if he is singing on his own, lol. For me, this just increases her air of obvious lust for him. Her innocence (guilelessness?) and even her appearance in Buckingham Nicks has been replaced by a streetwise maturity that is none the less attractive to me at this point in her career.
My GOD she was GORGEOUS. More importantly, two brilliant talents, two utterly unique voices. Sadly, we will not see their like again, nor this decade. 80s were as special as these two.
Mike Campbell and Benmont Tench are Masters of their craft and superstars in their own right. Tom realized that from day 1 and he made sure to get these 2 in the band and keep 'em there!
Stevie's voice blends so well with whoever she's working with. She's so distinct and yet still so harmonious. Always loved this song, too. An early MTV rotation staple.
I so agree! The guitar riffs, the drum beats, without the voices are so memorable on their own. Throw in Stevie and Tom, it's just magic, any way you slice it! Such a great piece of music!

RIP Tom.

The lead part by Mike Campbell, 4 simple notes create a haunting lead
And the drummer, Stan Lynch does a superb job !!
Especially since we lost Tom, I hope Stevie lives to like 95 and stays in good health (so far seems like she is, she's hella young at heart and still beautiful as ever)

The REAL reason is this. I tell you true. The writers' Guild went on strike. It lasted some time. Nobody to write songs, movies, t.v., etc. EVERYTHING changed after that however, the English underground bands invaded America and that brief interlude caused the end of music as we knew it.
