guys ropes don't mean shit tbh I can do almost everything in skipping and my ropes is 10 dollars even Mayweather uses a 15 dollar rope don't waste money but it is up to you tho
Dan, I watched your video a few hours after it came out. I've been struggling with DUs for 9 years and have bought all kinds of different ropes but have never been able to string more than 10-15 together. My recent DU string was about 3-4 at a time. I was training with another rope the day after I watched your video and still only managed to do about 3 in a row. On my way out of the gym, I noticed an SR2 rope (the first type you reviewed) that was lying abandoned on a box. I tried it out and on my second attempt I was able to do 35 consecutive DUs! I don't know how this happened but as you can imagine it is now my favorite jump rope!!
It's an old marketing trick. First, they establish a brand name, then they present you with 3 options: a supposedly cheap one, a middle tier, and a "premium". By setting the price of the premium absurdly high, they make people believe the overpriced "lower" priced one is "cheap". As people don't want to go cheap as they think that equals lower quality most will go for the mid-tier, justifying their expenditure by telling themselves that they didn't spend the absurdly high premium price and that the mid-tier wasn't that much more expensive than the "cheap" one. So in the end, here, crossfitters end up spending thrice as much on a jump rope as you normally would on a similar quality rope, while still thinking they made a bargain, and some go for the "premium" to get some imaginary bragging rights next time they go to the crossfit gym 😂 Meanwhile, boxers all around the world haven't had any issues in the last 100 years training with a $20 rope. 😁
I tried different ropes and spend all kinds of money and nothing really fit right I went down to the local hardware store in spent 15 bucks I don't have to have a Matt and I can jumpoutside and it works great for me
You could do a video about bands. If you want. I think they are kind of confusing. I think there are monster bands, halo bands, voodoo floss and who knows what else. Thanks for this video very helpful.
Hi Dan, I'm starting my way in the DU and I want to buy a good/best speed rope. I have two questions the first is regarding the handle size short/long. I would like to know what is the difference between the long handle and the short handle and which do you recommend to buy and for what reason. Also, I can't decide which rope to buy. Maybe it's worth to put the extra money and get the EVO (which is the best one I suppose) or the SR-343 or should I buy the Rouge SR-2s, SR-2. I'll be glad to hear your opinion regarding both questions. Thanks in advance, David.
I miss the old days of TH-cam reviewers that would review products without bias because they are getting kickbacks or are sponsored. Not sure if this is the case here. Good review nonetheless.
Broo my ropes are 6-7bucks xD and I Do muay Thai since 10 years barefoot jumping and outdoor jumping will condition so well but fuck up every rope ,BTW heavy 1lbs-1,5ropes are a Nice sturdy Addition to condition your muscles speed ropes are way to easy to pull of nearly no Training Effect if You get to good AT it.
Hey when I was starting CrossFit when I was 13 I bought a gowod rope and I couldn’t get them for a few years now at 16 I have finally learned them but the main change for me was getting a better rope and I learned them using the rogue sr-2s I really like the size length of the Knurl
@Arnulfo Torres paid 40$ for my Sr2 and have had for 2+ years now and the handles will last you a life time. Cables are cheap to replace like 5$ and even then you can make it last a long time. Why pay 10$ for ropes that just don't work for the job and you have to keep replacing? Pay 40$ once and hassle is out the door.
Yeah that's insane lol. Walmart has these great 5 dollar speed ropes that you can do anything on them if you know how to. They last about 6-8 months with heavy use. When he said 46 for a rope I started laughing
What a scam! There are almost identical products for 15$ to 20$, made in China, like all the rest. I will never understand paying ludicrous sums (75$ or 100$) for something that costs only a few bucks to make. The greed of some labels is astounding.
Am I the only one that finds these prices absurd
No
No
Absolutely not!!!
Agreed!
I went online thinking they were at most 40 dollars and ended up finding most are over 100.
Not too bothered about double unders just want a good rope for Cardio and cross overs

Done buying ropes where bolts that can be loosened hold the rope in place. They fall off.
$46 for a jump rope? 😂
Internet makes it seem like the best marketing strategy for USA is to tell them "its not that costly" 😂

Novice here. Ended up getting sr-2. Any tips on how to get the memory out of a cable rope? Only had pvc rope before.

That last one basically looks like a buddy Lee rope which is available on Walmart for like $45 or so

Thoughts on Rogue pro jump rope ?
Thanks for your video
The price is far too high for these jump ropes. Rogue is too proud of their equipment unfortunately.
Crossfitters will spend the extra money just for the name.

I use RPM and jumpnrope the second one is really cheap less than 30 dollars and I think is 1000000 times better than all the ones you mentioned
That’s great man, my video focused on the ones I’ve been using.
@@OriginalDanBailey oh k sorry I didn't catch that I didn't mean anything wrong anyway my apologies man
I still like your content
how did you get your thick neck?!!
work your traps
on the first w ropes can you change the weight of the cables ? the speed ropes are a bit light for me
can you say something to find the right length?
My coach tells me that it should be the rope part (not the handle) should be at your armpits
Good video.

Dan which rogue ohio barbell do you recommend?
All of them! Haha the guts are all pretty much the same on them but the coatings and color options are up to your personal preference.
@@OriginalDanBailey Which do you like more, the zinc or stainless steal version? Thank you
Any benefit to using a heavier rope when trying to learn double unders? I keep getting adds for CrossRope brand but know nothing about them.

Dan, would you be interested in trying one of my ropes? I hold a patent on the design and am looking for critique.
you should probably comment on one of his newer videos to get his attention
Why are jump ropes so expensive?! Cripes
“Not a very high price” 40 dollars for a fuckn jump rope btw

@@AlwaysDazed $46 for the "basic" rope 😂
Funny all the non CrossFit commenters who don’t understand investing in good equipment.
Honestly only a person born after 1985 would pay this much for a jump rope.
Speed rope is crap. Only heavy thick ropes from now on.
Again 😂
Ropes are garbage and have ones just like them on Amazon for $10. Title of video should have been "Most overpriced garbage jumpropes".
