There’s a saying in Spanish that explains what you’re meaning at the end of the video: “Lo Barato Sale Caro” which means “What’s Cheap Comes Out Expensive” meaning that multiple purchases of worn out ropes is worse that spending on quality ropes. Sometimes the question is not, “Is It Worth It?” rather the question is “Am I Worth It?”
Thank you for acknowledging the B.A.F.Fs and C.A.F.Fs. (Broke as f*** folks and Cheap as f*** folks). Crossrope is very good but I do have to save for them. 😊
Yeah Crossropes are definitely worth the price, though a lot of us are unable to afford them. I can certainly afford them, which is why I know from using my set. But, I certainly wouldn’t be able to if I didn’t get as much money from my job as I do.
David Chung bragging about making good money at your job is just douchey and in poor taste. I wouldn't recommend you going around talking to people like this.
Check the clearance sections of TJ Maxx or any of those discount stores. I got a Fila licorice jump rope like the LIMM one he talks about in the video for $4 and a 1lb weighted rope from Head Fitness for $6. Those kinds of stores have great deals on exercise equipment
Stumbled across this channel while trying to figure out how to stop being “skinny fat”. I dropped over 30 lbs last year by getting back into running. Now I’ve plateaued at 175lbs (I’m 6ft). I bought a weighted handle jump rope and broke it during the first workout. Ordered my Crossrope set today. Hopefully this, combined with my distance running routine will get me where I want to be. Super stoked to get out and #DoTheThing!
I have a beaded rope that I've used extensively. She was my original love, now I have a CR set which I adore ... but the rope I pack for travel in my go-bag is my beaded rope. I've had it for about 15 years now and is always a steadfast backup. All my friends who I am trying to talk into getting into jumping rope ... I'll buy them one of these... cheap, affordable, and durable.
If it works for you, who cares? I have a $7 Rope myself from a sporting goods store, also bought it before this video. It was not shown in this video either. However, it works really well compared to my Crossropes. I can still do tricks and stuff with it. Definitely can still do the thing even without the Dudes’ recommended ropes!
@@JumpRopeDudes I wish that was the case for me! I bought cheap rope, nothing fancy, pretty much a school kids rope. I didn't want to get fancy stuff as I wanted to make sure I'll stick to jumping! Long story short, I used my rope 5 or 6 times aaand it went to hell- rope gets stuck in the handle (it should rotate) and I'm unable to make more than 10 or so jumps because it turns into a spiral and I trip...
Just ordered a crossrope via amazon before I found you guys.. I'll buy my next through your links. I'm in Australia and am battling to reduce my type 2 diabetes medication through weight loss. Started at 102Kg, and am down to 94Kg. Target is 82Kg. Adding "skipping" to my treadmill and swimming routine. I've been trying with a cheap as chips rope and can't get any rhythm going with it, I look like a totally uncoordinated fool. My kids get a great laugh out of it. It was suggested that I get a weighted rope to try, hence the google searches and eventually finding your great channel. So now not only do I think I figured out where I am going wrong, I've also got some great motivation tubes to watch.
I beaded up a survival & cross rope to make it heavier. The thin speed cable was hard for me to keep a good Rhythm.. I'm only been jumping rope for 2 months and beading up this type of rope really helped me and I was able to learn some tricks like the cross and boxer skip. I will be eventually buying a cross rope. You guys rock.
I remember the plastic ropes. Back in middle school, whenever we had free time in P.E, I always went for the plastic jump rope. I LOVED it so much. All I did though was basic, stepping forward, and backwards. I looked to see if Amazon has these, and they do! Planning on getting one.
I hate the thin cable ropes (speed ropes)...I consider those solely for Crossfitters doing double-unders. and, if you whack your calf with one...it smarts...it'll leave a mark :-)
sdrury01 - we've been whipped with all varieties of ropes. If you are going fast and you get hit it's gonna hurt... try getting hit with a 1/2 pound crossrope. :/
As a fat guy with a lot of ropes (just starting up again, used to jump more) I've probably given away more ropes than most people own...... Love the Crossropes (just got them) I have licorice ropes, Buddy Lee, Leather (I don't like the leather one either).... For a not-so-expensive rope...the Rush Athletics, is a really good one. What I'm doing now, since I have so many ropes, I alternate between different weight ropes, the Crossropes 1/4, 1/2, 1 and 2lb. are GREAT for this.
I think you're right about the plastic coated cable "ropes." One of my ropes is a plastic/cable, and while it's very fast, if any part of the rope even slightly nips any part of my body, i miss, while with other types, the rope just keeps going (particularly true w/tricks).
For me, the best part about a cheap beaded rope is that if you're jumping outside or on a surface that will scuff and wear the beads, even if you wear through one or two (or more) beads at the impact points, when they fall off, other beads will just slide into place. Self-healing, if you will. Cheers.
I bought the first one (speed rope)last week from amazon and as you said I don’t feel like actually doing a workout but still better than nothing I wish you made this video earlier 🙁
First off, I love this channel and your passion for helping people live healthy. I was an "old school" fighter (boxing) back in the 80's and used leather ropes. One trick we used was to soak the end of the rope in a bucket of water... it gave it a nice weight. However, the weight will put more demand on the ball bearings and shorten the life-span of the rope a little. Love you guys... keep the videos coming!
I need to get into jump rope regularly until I know I'm commited. I had a leather Lonsdale Jump Rope but the spin mechanism is poor. It felt light as f... I like more whip when I spin.
I got that SURVIVAL one, it takes ALOT of getting used to, with the way it's secured, one has to move the bolt ALL the way up to the Black plastic piece to ensure it doesn't fall off nor the Rope to swing Down...don't care for it at all but it's nice when Busta Rhymes comes on. I got an EVERLAST one like the LIMM one. My Pops had that beaded one!! I got a weighted handle skipping rope, too!
I jumped rope a little in the past and used a cheap rope. After I did the four week program, I purchased the Shredded Ninja program and invested in a Cross Rope (first gen). It was day and night! The second gen came out a little after I finished the program. I almost regretted not waiting, but I can't imagine doing shredded ninja with my cheap rope.
Currently, i cannot afford the cross rope so i am using a rope somewhat like the champion sports leather and i really like it. It gives me really good feedback and the resistance is okay but is really fun to use. If you ask me personally i would totally recommend it .cheers.
Those asking about the Money rope (TMR), he basically reviewed the same type of rope which was blue and from buyjumpropes.net (BJR). BJR ropes are 4mm maximum and TMR is a 5mm rope. Both have plastic handles. The BJR ropes sell for about $3.50 before shipping at their website so you could possibly get 3-4 ropes there for the cost of TMR. I have TMR and I don't see why it is pricier than other licorice ropes. The Jump Rope Coach is a great channel regardless. For those looking for cheap ropes locally, If you are in the US and you have a Ross store around, sometimes you can find ropes under $10.
I bought the FitMotion on Amazon. It's less than $20. It's a speed rope. Economical handles to fit comfortably in my hands. It's a metal cord with a sturdy, durable plastic covering it. It's even adjustable! You guys rock! Going to buy a Cross Rope weighted rope hopefully very soon!
I have a Master of Muscle jump rope that has a carrying case and is super thin. It’s adjustable for mine or my husband’s height and it’s only $7.00 right now on Amazon. I jump on all surfaces and have never used a mat. If you want quality AND cheap. It’s the way to go. If you want feed back, get that beaded one.
I've been using an old plastic beaded jumprope, just started jumping about a month ago. It's got a decent weight to feel it's position. But after doing lots of jumping on my hardwood floor, I noticed that the spot where the rope hits looked scuffed. It was this residue from the beads. (I sanded it off and applied some polyurethane, looks ok now.) So now when I jump indoors I do it on my old yoga mat to protect the hardwood floor. I've been saving up to get a Crossrope set (!$$$!), now that I feel I really like jumping and will stick with it, so I can do the Crossrope 30 day challenge.
When I started to get into skipping I used a long charging cable for my xbox for a month until I knew I was ready to commit. I went out and got me an everlast(leather) speed rope for under 20 and it's great. The rope does kinda matter because since I switched my skipping times are much more fluid.
Hi Dan, My Grandaughter who is 8 saw me jumping and wants to jump as well. I searched your channel but did not see a video about jump ropes for children, specific to children issues and recommendations, children's jump rope recommendations, etc... You get the point by now. Did I miss the video or can you produce one? After all, in a few years, all these kids will be your next subscribers. Ha! Thanks for all your help, my Crossrope Get Lean Jump Rope Set is supposed to arrive tomorrow. I look forward to putting down my speed rope and using that. - Love and Happiness, Dave
Dave Garrison - appreciate your support! a small crossrope will be good for many (depending on height) and these are our favorite non crossrope jump ropes... th-cam.com/video/5IFu7pSVLz0/w-d-xo.html
I'm a beginner, I want to lose weight, my current weight is 124kg. I bought a speed jump rope before searching which jump rope is best for beginners. I'm struggling right now because I don't know which jump rope is the right for me. With my speed rope is so hard to find my rhythm, can you give me any advice please, which jump rope should I buy?
I have one of them crossfit ropes, which is basically a bicycle brake cable. I've lost three toes and half an ear, think it's time for one of them lickrish ropes!
The orange limm is good for filming vids because of its brightness. I found the ropes all come from the same factory and were once liquid, which means they smelled good and will eventually stretch and dry - so our ropes lengthen. I found the Spri best because of a long handle, which lets you lengthen an shorten during transitions, especially up stairs. just sayin, thumbs up 919
I just ordered the Heavy Muay Thai Rope 2.0 for 25.00 tax and shipping. It's a weighted rope, 2lbs. Probably good for beginning and better then most ropes out there if your goal is to get fit , lose fat and build strength. I will be starting next week when I get it delivered to me, as an additional tool to add to my fitness. I already ride a bike 10 miles before work 3 days a week. TRX 2 days a week after work and use the fitbod app in weight lifting 3 days a week after work also try to get lap swimming on Sat and or Sun. I already lost 50 lbs since May 1 but I am stagnant and just hovering around the 235 lb mark. Looking to jmp rope 2 to 3 times a week for 30 mins once I get coordinated enough
My go to rope for the last few years is the Gold's Gym Extreme Weighted Cable Rope. According to my food scale with weights it weighs 15.5 oz. I jump on a rubber surface so it lasts me about 6 months before I break it. I also jump for at least 30 mins a day averaging 165 reps per minute. I really want to try the cross ropes, but I'm afraid that I may not like them as much and I'm cheap.
Lol I'm from India and here I brought a rope under 2 dollars and it lasted more than 15-16 Months And that broke yesterday so that's why I'm here to search this a new one. And I also used to jump rope about 3-4 times a week
I have some ppl moving in with my gf and I (my gf friend and son) and they are on the heavy side so they’ve asked me to help them lose the weight and I’ve gladly said all you really need is a jump rope and your own body and I’ll definetly show u and I’ve also directed them to the JRD channel #DOTHETHING JRD NATION!
Will eventually get the Crossrope but beaded has been my go-to. Have tried others but it has worked best for me. The rope does break, though, and beads everywhere does suck...
You were in NYC. Don't you know that all the playgrounds have rubber mats? The "outdoor gyms" do, too, I think. I use the new one on Park Drive East in Queens and it does have a rubber mat. I almost only jump at the park on the mat. My plantar fasciitis flares up if I jump on concrete. I own a speed rope, 1 pound licorice, Limm licorice and 2 beaded ropes (it was a set). I like the beaded best, 1 pound the second best.
david chong ... I’m using a child’s woven rope without handles. Returned my CRs for a different size and it’s been ages! So I ordered 4 Punk Ropes and they aren’t here either. I’ll be going from 0 ropes to 6 .... 🤭
I just started jump roping thanks to you guys I have all sorts of motivation lol. I can’t afford the cross rope right now but I’m hoping if I stick with a routine and make a hobby & lifestyle change out of this over the next few months then I can put it on my birthday wishlist! 😃
would you guys do a video on recommended weighted ropes for under $20? Im sure a lot of people like me wanted a more affordable weighted rope for weightloss while saving up for that crossrope set.
Best rope by far is the cross rope. The thing is literally a piece of art. You only understand once you get it. The price is steep but at the end of the day it's an investment that will benefit your physical health and fitness... If you don't feel guilty about splurging on XBOX why feel guilty for a crossrope? I love crossrope can't wait to get more of their ropes
Its a very helpful video....but I have one question. Are foam handle jump ropes troublesome...I mean does it slip from hand or something like that?Should I buy one?
Just a thought on leather ropes. It takes some time but you can condition the leather (I have used mink oil) and once the leather absorbs the conditioner, it gains weight and whip, much more like a licorice rope but durable. Caveat: none of the leather ropes I have bought since have equaled the quality of the leather used in my 1982 rope that lasted years before finally wearing though. The leather ropes today, like the one you tried, arrive extremely dried out and feather light, so it may not be worth someone's time to work with the leather to prepare it for use.
We issued the beaded ones to offenders during recreation. They're tough as nails, easy to repair, and adjust to proper length. When one started wearing out (jumping on concrete) we would move the worn beads to the ends. We'd also salvage the good beads that were left at the end of life to repair ropes later. We probably actually consumed about 10 of them per year at a 1040 bed unit. I'd say, that's not bad for the money. Edit: IRC we used the champion ropes which are under $5 on Amazon depending on the length.i just ordered a 16 footer for myself. Lots of spare parts that way and should last a long time.
Hi there, I just recently started jump rope and bought this jump rope off amazon (FITFORT Skipping Rope Adult) but I'm not sure if its the right rope I need for what I am trying to achieve. I would like to loose weight and just over all become fitter any advice would help...
I’ve been using the survival rope and the same thing happened to me with the handle coming undone.. what the heck. I wanna eventually save up to get a crossrope but licorice rope will do for now. Thanks
I have the empower weighted handle rope. It's great! I had just bought it. Am I able to adjust the length though? I can't figure out how :-/ and I don't want to ruin it.
I brought 2 of the money rope and love them. Unfortunately, both ropes broke off by the handle after 6 weeks of used. So, instead of cutting the length of the rope to fix my 5'7" height. I tied couple knobs on the rope so I can untied them and continue to use the rope after the first time the rope break.

I'm really cheap, so I use a pretend jump rope. So far i'm really doing well. Haven't missed a step once.
😂
Stay on that grind, don’t miss a step
Wow nice.
🤦🏾♀️😂😂😂
That be nice to lose a lot of pounds
There’s a saying in Spanish that explains what you’re meaning at the end of the video: “Lo Barato Sale Caro” which means “What’s Cheap Comes Out Expensive” meaning that multiple purchases of worn out ropes is worse that spending on quality ropes. Sometimes the question is not, “Is It Worth It?” rather the question is “Am I Worth It?”
greedy pays twice
I disagree
Dragga it’s the same thing you idiot the jump rope still works
Dragga There is a word in Spanish that my friends call you... Pendejo

Forget this. I'm jumping with my Ethernet cable.
So, that’s why we have saved all the cables all these years.

Dudes, the common Polypropylene jump rope. The best of the best.
They are eternal.

Nortech do a liquirce rope that is indestructible on concrete. They use anti-scruff material. They range from £5 to £10.
Which one please?
I've been following your routines with No rope lol and ive been seeing good results
Love how professional and honest you are!!
I have the last one which is good so far for almost a year. I had the first two which lasted a few months.

Travis - we did the top 5 on amazon. Number 3 is VERY similar to that rope.
The orange limm is good for filming vids because of its brightness. I found the ropes all come from the same factory and were once liquid, which means they smelled good and will eventually stretch and dry - so our ropes lengthen. I found the Spri best because of a long handle, which lets you lengthen an shorten during transitions, especially up stairs. just sayin, thumbs up 919
I’m using decathlon cheap ass leather jump rope. Great rope
Same!
This channel is dope....I put beads on my licorice rope. I get the need weight and it’s easier to do tricks!!!
Mike Spence - nice!
Currently using the thin handle one! I like it!!
Treva Graham - you'll like them more (And you're worth it!)
A bit sad that you didn't review any muay Thai/heavy ropes
I have a Buddy Lee rope máster and The next one I buy will be yours
Lol I'm from India and here I brought a rope under 2 dollars and it lasted more than 15-16 Months
And that broke yesterday so that's why I'm here to search this a new one.
And I also used to jump rope about 3-4 times a week
Hey i got the same licorice rope with thin handles , its really good to adjust.
Very helpfull...especially for us who are not on your side of the world as you guys,, i will know what type of material should i go for next time
I bought the first one and don't like it either. Too light, no feedback.
I have the Australian version of the liquorice rope but I’ve decided if I’m still enjoying jumping in at least six months I’ll upgrade to a cross rope
In India I bought thin handle rope for 1$ only!!!
GokuBlack - NICE!
Will eventually get the Crossrope but beaded has been my go-to. Have tried others but it has worked best for me. The rope does break, though, and beads everywhere does suck...
I have work at 5am and already have a jump rope I like...why I am watching this
You were in NYC.
I'm using a braided USB cable temporarily while I wait for my crossrope order. 😂😭
i use my dads charger when he’s not home 😭😭🤧
david chong ... I’m using a child’s woven rope without handles. Returned my CRs for a different size and it’s been ages! So I ordered 4 Punk Ropes and they aren’t here either. I’ll be going from 0 ropes to 6 .... 🤭
Wtf😭
I just started jump roping thanks to you guys I have all sorts of motivation lol. I can’t afford the cross rope right now but I’m hoping if I stick with a routine and make a hobby & lifestyle change out of this over the next few months then I can put it on my birthday wishlist! 😃
Great news!! Any rope works, just do the thing!
great vedio dudes
what an iconic advice dudes
thanks alot for the great effort
Do The Thing
would you guys do a video on recommended weighted ropes for under $20? Im sure a lot of people like me wanted a more affordable weighted rope for weightloss while saving up for that crossrope set.
I have the leather one all you have to do is wet it to make it work great.... bought it 12+ years ago.
I used crossrope year the best rope Thanku for all your tips
Are any jump ropes good on cement? Aside from Crossrope?
Best rope by far is the cross rope. The thing is literally a piece of art. You only understand once you get it. The price is steep but at the end of the day it's an investment that will benefit your physical health and fitness... If you don't feel guilty about splurging on XBOX why feel guilty for a crossrope? I love crossrope can't wait to get more of their ropes
We agree!!!
Jump rope hack trick if you don’t want the rope to wear down add electric or duct tape in the middle with layers
Its a very helpful video....but I have one question. Are foam handle jump ropes troublesome...I mean does it slip from hand or something like that?Should I buy one?
I needed this, I don’t have a jump rope mat so I burn through all my ropes 😅
Well I guess my cheap, licorice boy ain't that bad. I definitely wanna get a weighted one soon though.
George Fister - there are so many options.
Jump Rope Dudes And just to note - I do have a full array of crossropes I have been using for the past 8 years, which is how I got onto your channel.
George Fister - 100% How you like the infinities over the OGS??
So which one do you recommend the most for beginners?
Hello, have you tried PULSE brand weighted jump ropes? If you have, would you recommend those?
Crossrope did sell a cheap rope on your site and I snagged one. It is my favorite rope and wish you still sold it. And I do have a get lean set too.
I love that you did this video. Thanks!
Lots of spare parts that way and should last a long time.
like just for that smile, I can't stop myself
Would puzzle mats or a thinner yoga mat be better to put on my concrete floor?
What rope should I buy for losing fat speed rope or something other?
Sorry for bad English...
GanSe 024 - www.crossrope.com/jumpropedudes
@@JumpRopeDudes thanks
Do most expensive jump ropes
I bought mine from the dollar store lol 9ft
is nylon rope good???
Hi there, I just recently started jump rope and bought this jump rope off amazon (FITFORT Skipping Rope Adult) but I'm not sure if its the right rope I need for what I am trying to achieve. I would like to loose weight and just over all become fitter any advice would help...
I’ve been using the survival rope and the same thing happened to me with the handle coming undone.. what the heck. I wanna eventually save up to get a crossrope but licorice rope will do for now. Thanks
Thank you for being honest.
Rene Rodriguez - we'll always give you that :)
I'm sorry maybe missed it. What rope weight size is best to start with? 1 pound?
Dee*the*singa - we like the 1/2 and 1/4.... one pound is HEAVY!
I have the empower weighted handle rope. It's great! I had just bought it. Am I able to adjust the length though? I can't figure out how :-/ and I don't want to ruin it.
Clever Keto Chick - unscrew the handle... it should come with instructions.
So what's the best out of all of them?
NOELTHOMAS292 - the crossrope.
I have a weighted handle licorice rope from 5below ... 5 bucks to start the journey while I save up for the Crossrope
You guys have any experience using Rush Athletic’s speed rope?
Thanks!
Daniel Padilla - we use the crossrope, but like we mention in this video, PVC ropes are alright too.
What about the money rope? 🤔
knittingarch - we only did the top 5 on amazon.
They don't want any beef with the rushy guy. Lol
Fair. I'm surprised it wasn't rated higher...
knittingarch it is quite new on Amazon so.. otherwise it would've been on top tbh
I will be using on like concrete slabs so which is most recommended?
