Thank you! Showing my toddler (17 mo) to put food he didn't want into a special bowl was the best advice for our little food thrower! ....I eat the special bowl. Don't judge. LikeShareSubscribe!

Your videos have changed my life! Mealtimes with my toddler were a nightmare. Now we all actually look forward to eating together. Your "reliable" food choice and our roles at the dinner table have probably been the most helpful tips for us. I can't thank you enough.

We started implementing these tips yesterday morning and are already seeing a big difference. While I know we will have ups and downs, tonight he ate his dinner without throwing a single piece of food on the floor! We had mixed veggies and usually he would eat the corn and peas and throw the carrots on the floor. Tonight all the carrots stayed on the plate and he just ate around them. It was awesome! Thanks!

This was super helpful, loved the best practices and how to implement, thank you! Our 15mo will make eye contact, then throw things on the floor. Establishing dominance! Sometimes it's when he's done eating, but others, when he just doesn't want to eat what was offered. What would you recommend doing if he refuses to eat anything during dinner? Wouldn't want him going to bed hungry, but also wouldn't want to offer an alternative (food we know he'll eat), because we don't want to establish the pattern of "I can still get food I want it I don't eat (or throw) what was originally offered"

Totally - we want to avoid that for sure!! Keeping to a schedule consistently is really essential. Check out this video for info on creating your perfect schedule and staying consistent: th-cam.com/video/EDXsjk-AnBY/w-d-xo.html

Greetings! Love these tips and they have worked for us mostly... except for tonight. When my 16mo was done eating she threw her plate on the ground, almost as if she knew the 'consequence' would be to be cleaned up and let down. She is growing well and not a picky eater, simply not using the appropriate channel. She used to use sign to tell us she was all done, but seems to be choosing not to do that lately, even when prompted. Any recommendations?

It's normal for there to be bumps in the road, especially at this age. Keep being consistent

My 15 month old throws everything she doesn’t want. It seems like she is so picky and at this point I don’t even know what to give her other than fruit and meat. I feel like between her and my 4 year old I am in the kitchen and serving food to kids all day long. Do you recommend feeding kids on a schedule? If I implement the 1-2-3 and give her a second chance to eat her food, then not let her eat again until our scheduled snack time/meal how do I get through the constant whining.
Another question, how do I get my 4 year old to stop rummaging through the pantry and fridge every 15 minutes all day long? Help! I’m at my wits end.

My boy is 14 months. He's a food thrower and he's not sitting well in his chair :( Usually I end up spoon-fed him in sling. Thank you for your videos, I will implement in his next meal.

Oh no! That's not sustainable for you or baby. Have you watched this video about sitting at the table: th-cam.com/video/E4Bk-1sryks/w-d-xo.html
Everything you do now sets the tone for your (and their) feeding and eating journey. It's not too late to make changes and help you baby. I highly recommend reading about my course to help parents of little ones prevent picky eating and stress cycle before it truly takes hold:

I love this. Just wondering what to do when the “consequence” isn’t one in my child’s eyes. My daughter is 15 months old. We have had SUCH a struggle to get her to eat- has always been. She really has very little interest in any foods. I have tried the “you threw your food, you must be done” and clean it up. It doesn’t ever bother her to have her meal finished early.
(She’s a two bites of chicken and a bite of broccoli is a GOOD meal kinda baby. )
She also throws bowls, so since we have tried the “put it in the bowl” the bowl then just ends up on the floor 🤦🏼‍♀️

Definitely recommend checking on her growth chart and ensuring she's staying on her growth curve. I'd also recommend checking out the mealtime roles video: th-cam.com/video/WFdWQuPfntoq/w-d-xo.html

Family Snack Nutritionist thank you! She’s been on the 3% chart and followed closely because of this, as she dropped down from 50% in the first few months of life.
She’s not picky, just doesn’t enjoy eating and never seems hungry
Will check out your other videos, I’ve been trying to implement everything in your Instagram!

Thanks for this video! I'm trying to deal with my 16m old throwing things sometimes on purpose sometimes not. My question is 1) what if I offer a bowl for her to put the food she doesn't want but she throws the bowl? And 2) I notice her throwing her cup in between sips even though she is just taking a break and still wants to drink. How to I get her to be okay with continuing to hold the cup in between sips? The more I tell her no or hold the cup for her, the more she seems to want to throw it.
She doesn't quite understand what we say yet.

      Hi Linda,
It's amazing how much they DO understand, even at this age. Implementing the 1, 2, 3 outlined in this video teaches them, respectfully the natural consequence of throwing items from the table.

Meal types don't really change, same as what you're eating my texture appropriate. Is your 1yo showing signs of pickiness already?

I am gonna try this but she not only throws food she pockets food in her mouth. I give her drink so she can easily chew it but she wouldn't. Every meal takes an hour long watching TV 😔
I give her small pea size bites so she doesn't pocket food. I have tried putting chopped up food in front of her she will throw it or squish it in her hands and rub it on the table even if I keep her hungry for hours 😢

Hi, I really recommend getting away from distractions like screen time as it impacts their ability to tune into their hunger.
