Truck has saved my butt on a few times. We ran into a snow storm in Colorado on I70 coming from Utah, they shut the freeway down overnight and reopened it next day. Roads were iced over like crazy and butt pucker factor pulling a trailer that size over Vail pass. The truck performed flawless, very happy with the RAM.

    To many powerstroke motor issues! I have a lot of die hard Ford truck friends that have had their trucks in the shop around the 150k mile range especially if programmer is turned up to higher settings. Ford has went down hill in their engine quality and should spend less in advertising they make a tough truck and more on actually building one.

      Ford has not went down in engine quality at all , in fact the opposite. Since going in house. They have continued to improve the 6.7 to a point it is on par with the cummins 6.7 in reliability. Yes i would still give edge to the cummins 6.7 for commercial use , and overall longterm . The bottom line is ford build a good engine in a better overall truck.

  • @curtisbull1583
    @curtisbull1583 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    thanks for doing the video, it's nice to hear reviews from actual owners instead of dealers and such. I'm debating on a new truck as well, and have ruled out Chevy and GMC completely because I think their body and interior are cheap and don't have the same quality as the Ford and the Dodge. I hit a deer with an 08 Chevy 2500 Duramax at about 60 65 miles an hour. It did a lot of damage and after talking with the body guy about it and his opinion on Chevys, and him showing me a few things about the body I decided at that point I was never ever going to consider a GM product again. In my opinion they're just built cheap, the only thing good about them is the Duramax and Allison and I suppose that could be debated.
    My opinion is a little bit different than yours, I think the Ford interior and body is better built and I prefer the Ford interior more I also like, in stock form the Powerstroke has more power and you can definitely feel it when test-driving or pulling heavy load, as I have an uncle that has a powerstroke and a couple friends with power strokes. If I start to wheel and deal on both a Ford and Dodge and find the ford is quite a bit more money than the Dodge then I will be plenty happy with a Dodge and that will make my decision pretty quickly, even though I prefer the Fords in a lot of ways and I consider myself a Ford fan. But price is a pretty big factor, especially when the ram has a Cummins motor. I think the new 6-7 Powerstroke is a pretty good engine and while I hear and see a lot of issues with them I also hear and see a lot of people that have zero issues with them. But I still believe that the Cummins is a more proven and solid engine design then the Powerstroke. A straight 6 design has less components and give you more room in the engine compartment to work, you can do most anything you need to on the Cummins without pulling the cab if you need to do much of anything on the Powerstroke you got to pull the cab. So that means that most people who like to at least do some work on their own vehicle are going to mostly be unable to and that should be a big deciding factor as well. I will most likely go with the ram Cummins because I think it's a more reliable setup especially if you throw in the aisin transmission and I think it's easier to work on then the Powerstroke, but if Dodge did not have the Cummins it wouldn't be a question, I would go with the Ford even though it would cost me a few grand more. I'm a guy that believes pretty heavily in deletes of the emission equipment on these trucks and feel it is much needed with a Cummins due to the lackluster throttle response and take off of the Cummins. But with a powerstroke I feel I can handle not deleting it for quite a while longer than the Cummins.

    Price point and fully optioned model was my choice. 2016 2500 Lifted all that & excellent warranty.120k powertrain , 10yr bumper to bumper. 5yr warranty on 20 inch Fuel rims and Nitto tires.NO DEDUCTIBLES & no Prorate on tires. I like the way the new Ford's look, but paying an extra 20k vs Deal I got for a certified preowned with 7500 mi it was a no brainer. I too researched all the known issues being an auto /diesel tech last 20 yrs.Ive seen some harness issues and regen system. I honestly have worked on Duramax and powerstrokes before. Alot of head gasket and glow plug system being part of valve covers going bad. Some powerstrokes you couldn't rebuild. Chevy has really not impressed me as they almost always have very costly oil leaks duee to aluminum plate gaskets. They have raised silicon or orange rubber material that gets flattened out quickly due to expansion contraction rates being so much more on aluminum. That kept me very busy last 20yrs .. job security. I read of Transmission shift issues on the Dodges but went into service and talked to their Truck transmission specialist. He gave no indications of seeing a common failure. I will chalk that up to customer abuse with all these chip burners out there changing shift points etc and people driving a 4x4 like it's a corvette etc. I also knew people at the dealership which made my loan approval go thru a bit more easily. Great topic TC Bro.. Stan

  • @humbertomartinez1893

    That's the beautiful thing about owning a dodge vehicle. I have a dodge ram. 2017 Lone Star edition. I don't have to buy the most expensive dodge to get all the stylish features. Like you do with a Chevy or ford back cameras front bumper warning sensors? 8 speed transmission and the dodge rams I average about 23 miles on the highway about 17 18 in the city. . You pay way too much for a Chevy. You pay way too much for a Ford. But a dodge is fairly well priced and you get a lot out of the vehicle itself. And in my opinion, a dodge has better toning than Ford and Chevy. There's so more features about the dodge that you don't have to pay for upgrades like you do with a Chevy or Ford. Remote start standard on these rams now. I mean, it's insane all the stuff that you do get when it comes to a RAM. And yes, when you are loyal to the brand, they definitely take care of you.

    New to trucks and at 63 years old got my first pick up. A 2000 Ford F-250 7.3 diesel quad cab extended bed I use for travel trailer. Had a crazy problem of stalling when putting windshield wipers on. I heard this problem is common. Guy who sold me the truck owns a truck repair shop and has been going crazy figuring out the issue. New windshield (covered by insurance) and a GEM module was the cure. However, when I see all these "hot shot" drivers hauling cars and other stuff most of them have the Dodge truck. I'll always keep the Ford but would consider the Cummins engine. If it happens to be in a Dodge AND priced lower than Ford/GM I guess I'll be going in that direction. Appreciate all y'all comments. They were better than the video.

    I'm confused about your statement that Chevy (which is a GM product) has not been in the diesel game as long as Ford or Dodge. Google says that Dodge and GM both produced it's first diesel in 1939. Ford did not actually use their own design until 2016, but was using International Trucks diesel engines for 4 decades. Dodge actually abandoned their own design in 1989 in favor of the Cummins brand. Cummins is not a dodge product, they are their own company. GM used their own design for while, then converted to the Detroit diesel then to Isuzu (Duramax)

    Great vid. Can you do a review of your work truck? How many miles is "a lot"?I have 2016 2500 CTD Laramie with 20k on it and absolutely love it. No issues. Had a few half tons before but first heavy duty. The reason I went with Ram was strictly the Cummins motor and interior/exterior looks. I do like Chevy but not enough to drop that much $$ on one and it seem like Ford has been struggling to build a reliable diesel motor for the last 10+ years with little success.

    I have had my issues with Ford. I lost all respect for them with 6.0 and 6.4. The 6.7 have been really good, I own a 2003 duramax, it's tuned up a lil, it rides and drives amazing, I did do head gasket at 230000 miles and now have just under 300000 trans is stock. Love it. I also got a ram 3500 srw only got 11000 but I really like interior and gadgets but she rides pretty stiff on big bumps , but will say my buddys new GMC has had a few plastic. Pieces fall off on inside, today's trucks I think there all good just get the one that fits your ass better
