The Next Karate Kid Breakdown

- เผยแพร่เมื่อ 18 ก.ย. 2019
- The Next Karate Kid is amazing because it makes you appreciate Karate Kid Part 3. The Next Karate Kid follows Mr Miyagi (Pat Morita) as he teaches a new kid karate. Julie (Hilary Swank) is the next karate kid and then nothing else happens.

This video was not easy to make. The Next Karate Kid is so boring. To make up for this I'm vowing to release a new video every week from now until the end of the year. I've got most of the videos decided but I'm taking suggestions starting....NOW
I love how you are doing all the films in a series it actually works in a cool way to see you go from beginning to end
Best channel on "the tube"!
I love your channel, please keep going. Please review Richie Rich
you should do The Wizard (1989)
My vote is for Airborne. Mainly because before Chris Conrad played Eric in this movie, he played Jack in that one. Plus if you need to fill any gaps you could keep dropping in the Seth Green dress up montage.
A breakdown which will save you more time, “It sucked so hard it killed the franchise until Cobra Kai revived it”.
I think Karate Kid III did that before this one
@@Secretname807 no this one and 2010 did but now cobrai kai made it all better
pretty much
@@freddiemercury5987 Honestly the Jackie Chan was is kinda slept on imo.
@@EzioHanitore Don't know what "slept" means, but the only thing good about the remake, ...was laughing at the absurdity of Jackie Chan yelling at Will Smith's kid: "jacket on ... *JACK IT OFF!"*
Ralph Macchio was reportedly asked to do a cameo. He declined. Good call, Macchio. This movie ruined Karate kid for me. And Cobra Kai brought back my love for it.
cobra kai actually helped this movie as this is mr miyagi’s last appearance
He hated doing the third movie so much that he didn’t want anything more to do with The Karate Kid save it a few parodies over the years. But I guess he was so impressed with Cobra Kai that he came back for the role.
As far as this movie goes, I read somewhere that he wasn’t even asked if he wanted to be in it. Not even for a small cameo.
I feel like if Cobra Kai brought in Julie Pierce and Colonel Dugan they could redeem this movie. If they could redeem Karate Kid 3 and even make Ralph Macchio happy in redeeming it they could redeem this movie too
I don't let shit sequels/prequels/spin-offs ruin franchises for me. Still got the originals. Or hell, sometimes I'm glad they exist because of what future material does with them. Like what Star Wars did with it's prequel lore or cobra kai did with the bad karate kid sequels.
@@stephendexheimer7914 season 5 did just that! Ralph Macchio said he has more appreciation for the third movie now. So yes…. If they could do that for a bad sequel, they could do it tor this movie. However, Hilary Swank is pregnant and from interviews, she is VERY sick of being asked if she wanted to be in Cobra Kai. She al do I was saying that she hasn’t been asked yet… so sounds like the writers have no plans in bringing her back.
The Karate Kid III was bad, but it was so bad it was good.
But this was unbearable
Yeah, at least The Karate Kid III had most a familiar cast, setting, and what felt like a continuing story. Not only was this written and directed by a completely different group of people, KKIII at least felt funny and over the top, but never boring. This one felt hallow.
I measure you while sleeping. Tried to make a karate lesson out of it. Lmao classic
Let's not forget that Myagi barged into Julies room without knocking and made up a whole lot of hogwash
Or he just looked in her closet for the size labels in her clothes ?
That was wax off
How about the fact that every 16 year old in this move looks 34?
Aaron Donchin ralph maccio was 30 in this movie
I was gonna say Eric looks like he could be Tom Berrenger’s son but in reality he looks like he could’ve played his character in The Substitute.
That dude being 16 is about as believable as Marc Anthony as a drug kingpin 🤣(hint: please do one of these on The Substitute).
Tom berenger/dan marino
@@holydutchlord3477 no 24 26 and 28
@@darthrevan7307 the fact that daniel is 4 years older than Johnny aswell
I saw this movie when I was 12. I wasn't following the story. I was drooling over Hillary swank.
Drooling over Swank? She's slightly above average, at best.
“Daniel and Louisa’s Little Dojo...”
😂
I wish you could find a wealthy benefactor to pay you to do these full time. Without any weird sexual requirements. Though if you have to take one for the fans, so be it. You’re doing the Lord’s work.
At least we know now who Daniel had to give it to to get the dealership off the ground...
total embarrassment to the series, and they keep shoving it into dvd collections like we want it.
Finally watched this movie tonight and couldn't believe how bad it was. Came to TH-cam praying there would be a video skewering this and was not disappointed. Thanks for the laughs!
I remember being REALLLY young when I watched this and literally just loving it for mr. miyagi and the fact that it was a female karate kid, but rewatching it some 20 years later this movie is like the room to me.
I had a similar experience with the mighty ducks 2. I remember thinking it was this great movie but as an adult...
"And her gift was the head monk trying to murder miyagi". Lmao holy shit I lost it at that part!
Still better than the remake, but definitely the worst of the originals.
I know a lot of people resent it. But anyway I recently interviewed Michael Cavalieri who played Ned. Check it out: th-cam.com/video/e8o-jkspPss/w-d-xo.html
I don't see why talking like Miyagi would be offense since Pat Morita himself didn't talk that way either!
Everybody talka likea Miagi San.
Poor nisuke pat Morita
He didn't even know that mistreatment myagi was actually a creepy criminal stalker
True. However, Pat Morita's father spoke like that, it's where he got the accent from.
there's no way a teen would be that jacked like the bad guy
There were a couple of guys in my class who were pretty buff! lol
He's 32
What I always wondered when I watched this movie was what happened to Daniel?
Michael Ironside was also a Good Guy in the Television series V in the 80s.
Why aren't the Alpha Elite called the Alpha Elite Numero uno Top Dog Number One Big Cheeses?
Lol 😂
Wouldn't fit on the jackets in a big enough font.
The video was great, but the epilogue was just next level. Please make that a regular thing. Love these vids!
The actor who played Ned was also in a 90s Karate Kid ripoff movie called Showdown. There he was the Bobby Brown character, second behind the main bully.
This dude is hilarious! The commentary couldn't get any better lmao
Bravo Mr. Distracted Nerd!
You talk about the Oscars as if they haven’t already lost all credibility
Is that like the white people awards?
jacen cade no it’s actually the anti straight white people awards
Congrats, you found the joke.
Horrible movie but you made it fun
Terrible film indeed
It was absolutely horrible
didn't even know this movie existed
Aldrei Alhambra I’m sorry you found it. We were all better before knowing this existed.
This is honestly the worst plot ever conceived for anything ever 😅
Great video! Can't wait for more
"his down to earth feel good role" ahahahahahhahaha i love you
Randomly recommended but newly subscribed ✊🏽
I remember seeing this for the 1st time on theDisney channel and been a big fan of the films ever since.
I love the Fort Knox idea, thanks distracted nerd for the inspiration for my KK/NKK FF I am working on.
Thanks for doing my movie suggestion. :)
Your suggestion almost made me abandon this whole channel
I vote for the Major League series!
Thank you for your Karate Kid uploads! Laughed a lot. I’m sure you’re going to get more subscribers now that Cobra Kai is on Netflix! Thanks again😊
Ha! Cobra Kai is responsible for like 90% of my subscribers. It took 2 years to get to 300 subs and then season 2 and 3 of Cobra Kai pretty much did the rest. Hopefully they go the Law and Order approach with Cobra Kai and just never end it. Thanks for watching!
@@DistractedNerd I got to interview several people on my handle so far. The ones that are up I got to interview Sean Kanan, Darryl Vidal and Michael Cavalieri who played Ned. Check them out:
Michael: th-cam.com/video/e8o-jkspPss/w-d-xo.html
Sean: th-cam.com/video/e9b-n0v3raY/w-d-xo.html
Darryl: th-cam.com/video/M7brUXUiCzM/w-d-xo.html
I never really bothered with this Movie because I heard it was ass so I'm glad that you summarized it
They blew up Eric's car? That's nothing. Mike Barnes and the Bad Boys were straight-up ready to murder Daniel and generic girlfriend in KK3 over that tournament application. You and me wouldn't last 30 seconds in that universe.
I saw this movie today. I wouldn't say it was great but I enjoyed seeing Mr Miyagi and the history of the 90s haha
YEEEEEESSSSS! NEW D.N. VIDEEEOOO!!!
Arguably one of the best karate kids
I got to interview Michael Cavalieri on my handle: th-cam.com/video/e8o-jkspPss/w-d-xo.html
Sarcasm?
At least in the top 5 lol
@@cole3536 hopefully.
@@stevenbacon-cheddar9914 only cos there's not 5 karate kids
That was the best movie review ever
I did think it was cool that Sen. Daniel Inouye was in the beginning of the film. He lost his arm while he was in the 442. The only 442 I know that exists is "Only the Brave" with Yuji Okumoto, Tamlyn Tomita and Pat Morita. (all from the Karate Kid series)
Doug Miyagi love it lol
Cool Myagi impression
I just have to remind myself that The Karate Kid Movies don't exactly need to make sense. I say that because Alpha Elite makes no sense. it just seems like the movie needed a Bad Teacher to contrast Myagi like they had in all the other movies. that's the best rationale I can come up with.
I got to interview Michael Cavalieri who played Ned. Check it out: th-cam.com/video/e8o-jkspPss/w-d-xo.html
Kenny Valdivia I swear to god if thats a rick roll
@@holydutchlord3477 it is not a rick roll
😂😂 Daniel and Louisa little dojo
Hahaha Daniel and Louise's lil dojo
4:57 lmao😂
I just watched the original trilogy after seeing Cobra Kai and this is EVERYTHING. And thank you for making this so I don't have to spend money on this movie!
*Dont* spend money on this trash. Buy a pizza 🍕 or a frisby 😂
Doug, Doug Miyagi..🤣🤣
This awesome as usual but holy shit Walton Goggins was in The Next Karate Kid I did not remember that.
Hope you can heart this it would make my day
Mr Miyagi had a Brooklyn accent I think it was, so no if he can do it then you can too 😂
The Daniel impression cracked me up
It gets said on every video, but you deserve WAY MORE subscribers.
Now, do Inception. I would love to see the D.N. take on that confusing mess.
His headstone in Cobra Kai says Nariyoshi
11:12 😂😂
Someone read this script and thought it was good, so they paid for it. 🥴
Also the producers must of loved it.🤦♂️
My lifelong dream is to join the Alpha Elite.
That garden actually is as big as a football field, Hilary Swank is just a giant. Hollywood magic was used to make her look the same size as everyone else in the film.
I actually knew the rock was that close before she started running
2:50 And Ultra Magnus in Transformers Prime, though when he first showed up, I thought he'd be a bad guy because Michael Ironside.
Shit story but it's canon. Julie Pierce is Mr. Miyagi's last student. He taught her the Mantis technique. She knows the Tiger technique too back when she was young. If you're gonna watch it closely, Julie is better than Daniel. She's more athletic. A natural compared to Daniel. More importantly she believes in herself. Daniel always doubts himself.
Shit story, Shit theory. Sure most of people disagree with you..
No.
"Ned? no offence to guys named Ned but it doesn't strike fear into my heart" Errr Ned Kelly would like a word with you
According to Google Mr. Miyagi's original first name was Nariyoshi, not Keisuke. I don't know why they changed it.
You must have fallen asleep during this movie because you forgot about the babysitting scene where Miyagi assigns Julie to care for 3 naughty little boys who later became the main characters in the 3 Ninjas movie franchise
To young remember they would have been having there adventures in the next year or two
Ironside wasn't a bad guy in V, Starship Troopers, SeaQuest, Smallville, always a bad ass though. 😁
I like your ending about Dugan even if it didn't really happen
Mr. Miyagi: You see, uh, before, life with a friend, Daniel-San. Daniel-San come Miyagi room, Miyagi go Daniel-San room. No big thing. Uh, boy is easier.
How about a breakdown of the The Punisher (1989)?
That and the 1990 Captain America are definitely on my radar
I dig the original punisher film though, I'm pretty sure that cinema sins has covered the topic already nevertheless, it still might be worth doing
Never seen this movie and never will. Thanks for the warning.
2:30 Ned Flanders is all I can think about, lol
3:58 Kreese was choking Johnny and Myiagi defended him
I liked this movie because it was filmed in my high school. The alpha elite stuff is a little exaggerated but the thing that took me out of it was that while that is the real old gym, we had our prom at a hotel. I guess that's a movie thing though, high school dances are always in gyms.
When I want to find out what someone's size is, and I do their laundry, I just look at the tags on their clothes.
Alia Yes I just thought of that, is not Mr Miyagi cooking, washing and cleaning for Julie while she is in school?
Otherwise you just check the clothes in her closet for the labels.
Hopefully she os not one of those who always cut them away because scratchy tags drive her crazy.
4:20 well this is Boston what do you expect
Ned face looks like the distorted ghostface Alec Baldwin uses in beetlejuice
I didn't hate this movie.
This was the second movie I ever bought with my own money when I was 11, on VHS.
Why
@@ReanimatorsMutilations
Because I was only 11 and un-jaded.
And I was all about karate everything.
Ninja turtles, power rangers, van damme and Steven segal, and yes, the karate kid trilogy.
Then I was like "wait, there's a NEXT karate kid?" I'm in.
When I saw the cover art I thought it was just some even worse spin off with a softened cast but at least mr miyagi is in it.
Look eye. Always look eye.
Michael Ironside wasn’t a bad guy in V the Final Battle (although he had his moments).
This is like cinema sins but it isnt shit. In fact it's hilarious.
10:13 Blessed be his name.
6:06 How many you ask? Let's just say they're climbing in your windows and snatching your people up...
Man, you really could have done something interesting with 'Karate Kid But Girl.' I mean, they didn't, but you could have.
I’m a Massachusetts Animal Control Officer, an Expert Aviary (bird expert) & a 3rd Degree Black belt in Shaolin Kempo Karate. She handles the bird *ENTIRELY WRONG* through the entire film, and I wouldn’t EVER hand an injured hawk over to an underage high school kid no matter what she thinks their bond is...I can assure you, that’s entirely unrealistic, to say nothing of the fact that both Miyagi’s training & Julie’s martial arts through the whole film are Sub-Par and ineffective
Master Distracted Nerd, please do Star Wars Breakdow. All 6 episodes please.
How about just Episode 1 six different ways since it's clearly the best? Or maybe pick a character and do the whole timeline from their perspective. I'd love to see someone analyze what Jar-Jar was thinking why he was in the Senate.
Crazy part. That isn't even his cannon first name.. Apparently it's...... Noriyouki wait that cant be right... Nope that's what it is
that Nazi gold line made me loose it, hahahaha, brilliant
Now that you have the films done (sans remake with Jackie Chan), would you consider covering Cobra Kai? The show is better than it has any rights to be!
I have considered it. The only problem is time...and my lack of focus
yes you are. and its ok.
This movie makes me think less of Michael Ironside, which is near impossible...
Michael Ironside is one of the few actors that I would allow to have the "Cannot show him getting his ass kicked clause" in his contract
Michael Ironside should have been left running Mars & looking for Quatro rather than being a Terry Silver wannabe.
Despite Ralph Macchio’s character Daniel LaRusso not in it his is mentioned by Mr. Miyagi
Have you considered reviewing tv episodes?
10:26 Holy Shit, Walton Goggins
He survived Next Karate Kid and Major League:Back to the Minors, he paid his dues.
The dude paid his dues and came out clean on the other side
"Doug Miyagi"!!! LOLLL I literally was drinking soda and spit it all out all over the floor when I heard that line!!! Freaking hilarious!!!!!
Do cobra kai!
I only like this version back then because of her top.
Poor Pat
If you saw the brief trailer to season 3 of Cobra Kai, maybe Miyagi's secret was a love interest with Julie's grandmother 🤔
Good on you for not wanting to be offensive whilst doing an impression of mr. Miagi, likewise… it was more funny that you were concerned , rather than the actual intended joke.
9:00 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
