Im 50 this year and still never found the courage to come out to my mother. She now has terminal cancer with just weeks to live and i still cant tell her. I think your parents should take a little look at this video and learn to be more accepting. Samira ACHAACH Thank you for your comment!! You know, not everyone will tell you this, but it’s totally fair for it to be weird for you. You can be completely accepting of a gay child, but it is still something to deal with as a parent! Everyone has certain expectations of how life will turn out: go to school, get a job, find a spouse, have a family... something like that. Just as a gay kid has to slowly accept that they are gay and their life will be different from that expectation, so does the parent! You also have a lifetime of assuming your child will follow the most common path, and even if you see the alternative as every bit as equivalent, it’s still a change in expectations! And it’s OK for that to be weird for a while! But it will eventually feel totally normal. I don’t know how old your kids are, but consider letting them know that if they were LGBT, you’d love and accept and support them unconditionally. At best, it makes a really difficult time a LOT easier. And at “worst” and they’re straight after all, you’ve taught a bit of tolerance. :)

I've thought to myself many times about my own children. As a mother I will love then no matter what, but as a Christian I know what the Bible says about homosexuality. Then I start to question the fact that it also says that we are made perfect in his image. So how can it be wrong if we're created from his image? I love all people and want the best for any person. As a person who is bisexual it’s not easy for some of us to talk about this sensitive subject to our parents because some might not take it lightly than others when I came out to my parents neither of them believed that I was bisexual and I had such a hard time dealing with that and overtime they started to accept that I was actually bi and they told me that they loved me and that no matter what choices I make they will always love and support me and I’m grateful to always have them around for that. ❤️

Samira ACHAACH Thank you for your comment!! You know, not everyone will tell you this, but it’s totally fair for it to be weird for you. You can be completely accepting of a gay child, but it is still something to deal with as a parent! Everyone has certain expectations of how life will turn out: go to school, get a job, find a spouse, have a family... something like that. Just as a gay kid has to slowly accept that they are gay and their life will be different from that expectation, so does the parent! You also have a lifetime of assuming your child will follow the most common path, and even if you see the alternative as every bit as equivalent, it’s still a change in expectations! And it’s OK for that to be weird for a while! But it will eventually feel totally normal.
I don’t know how old your kids are, but consider letting them know that if they were LGBT, you’d love and accept and support them unconditionally. At best, it makes a really difficult time a LOT easier. And at “worst” and they’re straight after all, you’ve taught a bit of tolerance. :)

I feel bad for people who had to go through hiding it. In today's culture it is definitely accepted more than this time. But from what I have seen through highschool so far, knowing how those kids get treated differently because of their sexuality is bullshit. I like women. I am not going to treat a woman differently if she does too. I am not going to treat a guy differently if he doesn't like women. I wouldn't treat someone any different if they were bisexual. It's just a normal reaction. I was the same way when I came out to my mom, even though I was 99% sure she would be cool about it. No matter how open minded and loving your parents are, it's just a scary and uncomfortable thing to do. And everyone always talks about "finding the right time" - but there just isn't an easy, "right time" to do it.

I've thought to myself many times about my own children. As a mother I will love then no matter what, but as a Christian I know what the Bible says about homosexuality. Then I start to question the fact that it also says that we are made perfect in his image. So how can it be wrong if we're created from his image? I love all people and want the best for any person. I want to have an open and honest relationship with my children and hope that if this happens that they won't be afraid to tell me. I will always love them and want them to be their true selves.

As a person who is bisexual it’s not easy for some of us to talk about this sensitive subject to our parents because some might not take it lightly than others when I came out to my parents neither of them believed that I was bisexual and I had such a hard time dealing with that and overtime they started to accept that I was actually bi and they told me that they loved me and that no matter what choices I make they will always love and support me and I’m grateful to always have them around for that. ❤️
