    Very nice, the explanation for their range was just right to clean up the confusion.

    Oh nice, I had watched the whole video, and I'll watch it again to see what I got missing or got wrong and them I will be able to share some remarks.
    Yet, I still have arguments to say that the range for the basic pulse rifle alone is futher tham 200 meters, reaching around 400 meters on its own, but I need to do the calcs and have it to be pier reviewed before sending anything.

      Well in the hands of the tau with his helmet on I do put the range at 400m the 200 figure is essentially what an untrained human would be able to do without any assistance due to the decay arc of the 'plasma slug' the average range for an actual fire warrior would be 400m and the range with some mechanical assistance such as a battlesuit or drone assisting in 'semi-indirect' fire controller direction would be around 600m at which point the slug will probably begin to lose cohesion as the containment field breaks down.

    • @OBrasa
      @OBrasa 11 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      @@hydragonsbreath3418 I am curious, how did you calculated how long it takes to the containment of the plasma to lose cohesion?

    • @hydragonsbreath3418
      @hydragonsbreath3418  11 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @ The plasma gun generally I have at 100-150m range and at 150 is going to lose a large amount of accuracy at that range cause it’s literally wiggling like a water balloon. The slug idea in my mind gives it baseline more accuracy and range than the imperial plasma in exchange for a smaller payload (thus the 200m with great accuracy) then essentially since it’s got three times the containment giving it (with that increased base range) relative accuracy at 400. Then extrapolating (normal range increments decreased for a ball energy weapon) to around 600m before it suffered severe accuracy and containment issues just because it’s a standard infantry weapon with a limited power and no connection between the bolt and gun during flight. So mathematically the 600 is definitely theoretical but with a long sniper variant it’s more realistic to get out to around 800 or so even further with a drone. So the calc is relative

    I think your range argument is quite interesting. In the PS2 game Tau Firewarrior. Part of the game's hud. Has like a mini target lock thing. That automatically targets onto enemies no matter what weapon you're using. So I think that supports your arguments about the range of Tau weapons

      @@Pixel22-fs3tt if you’ll believe me I did actually go watch some fire warrior gameplay just to get the feel of the tau weapons and yeah I liked that system a lot cause it has some analogous systems IRL or in other fiction. It also linked up well with why markerlights even work at all. Also do you know if there were any melee weapons in that game? I didn’t want to mention them cause they seemed irrelevant for here but I wanted to see if the samurai katana was there

      @hydragonsbreath3418 it is there. But it's weak and not very good. And it's the only melee weapon in the game

      @@OBrasa yeah cause in the lore I think tau players and mechanicus players would both argue they have the firepower advantage on one another. Quite personally I think the tau would get clapped if they tried to invade a forge world but I wouldn’t say that an engagement between a couple squads of tau and an equal head of Skitarii is an impossible fight for the blue man crew

    • @OBrasa
      @OBrasa 11 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      @hydragonsbreath3418 oh, they already invaded and conquered a forge world on the lore, it was in 999.M41 in the story the Patient Hunter.

      @@OBrasa I feel as if a mechanicus fan would likely be foaming at the mouth when I say this but the technology problems that I have with the tau are near identical to the ones I have with the admech. Everything looks awesome on paper or in the “tagline” but then you take a few seconds to try and rationalize and you find yourself jumping through hoops often times. That’s good to know in that instance but feel like it would make the admech (and their fans) blood boil if you extended that onto other forges lol. (I am a chaos fan so I have no opinion either way so good to know)
