You are a really good mixer - better than most! This a great video - quick and complete. No questions unanswered. Thank you for deciding what we will have for dinner tonight!! 😁😁
Gracias Laura se ve bien deliciosa y facil de hacer, voy a conseguir los ingredientes ya que nunca he usado masa en mi cocina, bueno si uso harina de maiz y harina de trigo pero por separado, en bizcochos.
This was great! Quite yummy. I didn't put any cheese in the cornbread mixture, just the top of meat mixture. I also added cilantro because we love it. This is easy and definitely a keeper! Thanks for such clear direction and tips. Some people get too wordy but you were wonderful!
Very similar to my own, with a few ingredient changes. One interesting alternative is to make the basic 'filling', add tomato juice to make a stew consistency. Make cornbread & enjoy.
The verdict is in....OMG the best tamale pie I have ever had. I know my neighbors are wondering what the aroma is coming from my kitchen door. Sooooooo good. Bravo...🖐 five star.....Thank you for sharing this recipe...I will be making this many times to come...
Does that corn meal package have sugar? I prefer not. Jiffy corn bread made in tamale pie is not even close to a tamale pie. It’ll ruin any work put into the meat. Thanks for getting to the point pronto and for sharing👍
My mother made a tamale pie; she didn’t have a written recipe & I didn’t learn how she made it. This looks more like hers than any I have tried to make! She cooked a mush and put on top before baking instead of cornbread. Anxious to try this! Thank you for posting! .
Hi Laura. This is the first time I've come across your site and this recipe. I made it tonight exactly as you described, but my husband and family didn't like it at all. I'd never had a tamale pie before so I didn't have anything to compare it to, but I thought it was okay. I can't say it was great, but I could eat it. Sorry.
RED GOLD is the best tomatoes! People do not understand 'Tex-Mex" or "Norteño" we get shit talked from Mexico and Texas...but our children always come home! hahahahah.
Rhonda. Ur tamale pie looks so delicious. I was 14 yrs old the last time I ate a Texan lady’s tamale pie. I m sending it to my daughter and thank u so much.
Like the way u explain everything step by step. Going to try this out tomorrow. Would also like to complement you on how clean and organized u are. Merry Christmas and happy holidays. Happy cooking and look forward to watching more recipes from ur end.
I am saving the recipe. It looks so good. Years ago I made a Tamale Pie nearly like this but with pinto beans instead of corn. Somewhere I lost the recipe. This will be so good on one of these cold Texas days.
I just discovered your channel today. I was looking for a tamale recipe and now I can't stop watching :) I'm a young mennonite mommy and wife from mexico and I absolutely enjoy cooking. I love to keep the mennonite and Mexican food traditions alive 😀😀
@@jwm4ever Meseca is what you buy for homemade tamales, corn tortillas, puffy tacos or Gorditas. She did not say it or use it. That's why I said I have NEVER seen it used. It should be for an authentic flavor.
@debtipka oh, OK. It appeared by your comment that is was used in this recipe. I have seen some recipes using the Mesaca in a tamale pie, just as with a tamale, you roll it out and place the soaked corn husks on the bottom of the pan, then layer the rolled out mesaca, then the filling, then another layer of mesaca and top with more corn husks. Cover with foil and bake. But put a pan of hot water on lowest lower level of oven to create steam. Also, I only make it with shredded chuck
@@VirtualkitchenwithLaura I also sub'd!! I'll have to check out some of your previous videos when I have the chance. Not to be nosey, but you sound Mexican... which is one of my favorite type of foods, the other is Asian food. Keep it up! Ur version is the best I found for Tamale Pie!
Thank you Laura! I like that you get straight to the point! I actually made this last night, but not before coming across your video. 🤦🏻♀️ Anyway, I thought of adding beef broth but forgot. Got caught up making the cornbread. Still came out delicious 😋 but next time,I’ll add the beef or bone broth. And thought of layering the corn bread in between the meat mixture like you would a lasagna. 😉
Laura, your tamale pie looks SO appetizing...It seems like I can almost smell it... *: )* ...a true comfort food good for any night of the week..Thanks for sharing your recipe... BTW...I'm really envious of your nice gas stove...I'd rather cook over gas than electric...ANY day... HaHaHa...

No I haven't, but what a great idea Elva.
Nice recipe but the meat mixture and cornbread is way too runny!
