  • This is the Genesis GV70 Electrified, the third car to be electrified by Genesis, that's Hyundai's premium brand in case you weren't aware. The electrified bit of the title might seem to suggest a plug-in hybrid, but this is an all electric car. It comes complete with a range of 283 miles with performance and pricing to match the rivals from the likes of Audi, BMW and Mercedes.
This Electrified version of the award winning combustion engine version, gets all the premium touches and customer service features that make owning a Genesis car so special. There's a five-year warranty, courtesy cars, roadside assistance, vehicle drop off and collection at service time and even Genesis personal assistants. In addition to the the fancy trimmings, it comes with an impressive battery and motor setup too. All this is available at a very competitive price, which means that the one variant that's available seems good value against its rivals, particularly when you factor in the high level of standard kit.
There is just the one battery and motor option for the GV70 Electrified. The car uses a dual-motor setup to produce up to 490hp, which is kept moving by a 77.4kWh battery that boasts an official range of up to 283 miles, weather, battery health and outside temperature dependant. Most of the time the GV70 Electrified has to make do with 436hp and a 0-62mph time of 4.8 seconds, however, when you hit the ‘Boost’ button on the steering wheel you will get access to the full power for around 10 seconds which reduces the 0-62mph time to just 4.2 seconds.
When we tested the petrol engine version of the GV70 we thought that was amazing, but this version seems to make a lot more sense. It’s that bit quieter, more efficient and the electric element just seems to suit a newly launched modern SUV more so than a thirsty petrol engine does.
The kit list is very generous, with enough quality and innovation to set it aside from the usual ‘throw everything at it to make it seem good value’ approach, however, it’s undeniably an expensive purchase so to make things that little more palatable, Genesis has partnered with Ionity to offer five years of discounted charging at public points plus you will also get a free Genesis wall box at home worth over £1000. This is on top of your personal concierge as well as free servicing with vehicle collection and delivery.
With that in mind as well as the street cred looks, the power and the comfort as well as the versatility of a large family SUV, it might well be worth sticking your hand in your pocket for one of these.

I plan to lease a 2024 genesis gv70 electric, however I learned it costs about $200 (usd) more a month for the prestige. Do you feel that's worth it for what you're getting?

What are you moaning about? A lease gives you plenty of tax benefits subsidised by the ordinary taxpayer!
