    This is a Motormouth couple car review of the all-new Genesis GV60 full electric luxury crossover. We are driving the Performance AWD model with a 320 kW electric motor, 429 horsepower and 446 lb-ft of torque. With Boost Mode the power jumps temporarily for 10 seconds to 483 horsepower and 516 lb-ft of torque. It comes with a 77.4 kWh battery and offers up to 378 km/248 miles of EV range. Also available is the Genesis GV60 Advanced AWD model with a 234 kW electric motor, same sized 77.4 kWh battery, 314 horsepower and 446 lb-ft of torque. It has up to 399 km/235 miles of EV range. The interior in our test model is open and comfortable, it feels very upscale with Nappa leather seats with quilting in ash gray and glacier white, a microfibre suede headliner and unique details like the crystal sphere gear shifter and a floating centre console. For $71,000 CAD/$59,290 USD, the base GV60 Advanced model comes with 20” wheels, dual 12.3” screens, a heat pump, wired Apple Carplay and Android Auto, head-up display, wireless charger, heated steering wheel, heated and ventilated front seats, power front seats with driver seat memory, Nappa leather seating surfaces, heated rear seats, an 8-speaker audio system, available 17 speaker Bang & Olufsen sound system in Canada, standard in the US, a fixed glass roof with power shade and a handsfree power liftgate. Moving up to the Genesis GV60 Performance model for an extra $8,000 CAD/$9,000 USD opens you up to a few more features like 21” wheels, a sport-tuned electronically controlled suspension, 18-way power driver seat instead of 14-way, manual rear side sunshades, surround view monitor, blind spot view monitor and remote park. With a Level 2 charger the GV60 can fully charge in just over 7 hours and with a DC Fast Charger, it can charge from 10-80% in just 18 minutes. The GV60 has a vehicle to load function (V2L) which is basically a charger on wheels, it can power small appliances, devices, EVs or electric bicycles.

      I can say that it is not annoying for me. Have been driving it for month. The cabin IS super quiet. The only time when it's a bit annoying when you are above 120kmph where you can hear little wind noise near the windshield. But, other than that this has quietest of the cabins I have been in. Also, you can have custom sounds, even an engine.

      @@bhanuverma9324 , thank you for the info. I think, some people are more sensitive to things than others. When I played a famous car-racing game some years ago, I liked the Audi supercar, but I hated the sound. The cars' sounds in the game were supposed to be close to the actual sounds.

    This new Genesis looks absolutely captivating. It is clearly a ‘step up’ from the Hyundai/KIA offerings (both which I like), which is great. And I think it is designed to tackle Cadillac’s Lyric head-on in terms of price, quality and look (futuristic?). The Germans and Tesla are still in a similar category, but are targeting different markets… electrically driven is about where the similarities end. Genesis definitely appears to be establishing itself as the brand to follow by creating their own unique path. Perhaps the truest definition of the word genesis itself, by being the…. “origin or coming into being”. Hopefully the buying public will agree… how couldn’t they? Thanks for the video.

    What's wrong with the door handles? I like how they pop out and there is no scratching inside of where the handle is. Also it is very easy to tell if it is locked or not. Compared to Model 3/Y much better, but standard ones I think these are just fine, however, you used them, not me, so what was the main issue with them? Great little car, I have to check out the GV60/70, but with no dealers around makes me think twice... Maybe a Kia or Hyundai dealer service them?

    • @bhanuverma9324
      @bhanuverma9324 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I like the handles, too. But, it may some time feel fragile. Even though they are not.
      About the dealership, Genesis is pseudo hosted in some cities within Hyundai workshops but have multiple dealerships in cities like Vancouver. Also, it comes with 5 years scheduled maintenance where they pick up and drop the vehicle for service. And also provide a replacement for that time.

    Hi Zack and Andrea from Australia . Always enjoy your reviews. I had ordered a GV70 3.5 but was told it wa going to be another 6 months from the expected delivery. This was going to be my last Petrol car.
    I had seen good reports on the GV60 overseas and the cousins EV6 and Ionic 5 had had great reviews ( and Car of the Year ) in Australia . I managed to snaffle a cancelled order Navy / White GV60 Advanced. I have not been disappointed. I love it ! ( Previous car was Lexus NX - the new NX didn’t grab me).
    In Australia both the Advanced and Performance are fully specified. I get 20 inch wheels and standard suspension - the Performance gets 21 inch and adaptive
    Suspension plus the boost button. I don’t think this is worth an extra 11k. By the way we get the digital wing mirrors inside and little cameras outside.
    The Advanced is quick, smooth and rides well even over our potholed roads here in Brisbane. Looks are subjective but people do stop you and ask you what it is ! Love the tech and interior especially in white !
    5 year warranty and free concierge service too.
    Early days yet but very happy as a first time EV owner.
    Keep up the good work !
    Steve

    I note @14:20 you mentioned there is up to 339Km range. I have a performance GV60 which I charge to 90% each night, currently, it reads just over 405km range. When I smash it all the time, that estimated range falls, but otherwise if charged to 100%, it should show over 440km of range.
    Otherwise, this was a very fair and balanced review. I would like to see audio commands outside of android auto and apple car play, levers for dropping the back seats in the boot area, and it needs some software tweaks like allowing you to not lock the charger whilst charging. It is very comfortable to drive, and a great package overall.

    Hello from Vancouver Island. Great review I have had my GV 60 for 3 months I have driven 10K klm love the car I have the Advance model I wanted range over the boost button in the summer I was getting on average 480 klm per charge I did get as high as 512 on a couple of occasions . I agree with of most of your review the only change I wish they would make is to have the sliding console like the Ionoq 5 also make it a little deeper, rear view window no problem keeping it clear I drove to long trips one to the US in heavy rain and one to Penticton in snow and ice I never had to clean the rear window . Range was about 25% less in the cold and charging quite lot slower I did notice the fan on high will drop your range big time so we would keep the heat at 22c and the heated seats on and the fan in the auto mode that really made a difference. Now I do have 2 problems with mine passenger heated seat switch does not stay on I have to fiddle with to make it work and the other is no snow mode I have talked to Genesis they tell they is a snow mode you just hold the mode button down but it does not work on mine they put me on hold went outside checked 3 other cars and they found out that NONE of there cars had snow mode they were very confused and they are going to get back to me this week, Do you have a GV 60 yourself have you heard of this with anyone else ? I love this very happy with it also I was very lucky to get as I have the Ioniq 5 on order now for over 1 year but a GV 60 can available in Victoria so I jumped at it yes quite a lot more money than the Ioniq 5 but for me worth every dollar. Thanks again for your review.

    Excellent review that I always appreciate. The GV60 is a beautiful Electric SUV however, the only downside and disappointment I have is the range. 230 miles is just too short and I do a lot of inter-state travel. In this case, the GV60 will save so much on gas, but on the other hand, I will be charging the vehicle most of the time and spending so much time at the charging station. If only Genesis increased the range to a minimum of at least 300 miles I would probably consider it.

      You would need to reduce the total mass (yes, mass) 20 or 25%. If this was something simple to do, it would have been done already. I used to work in automotive engineering and I can assure you the engineers are smarter than most people, not more stupid then most people. Besides that, the production cost is always a huge factor.

    As soon as u said 248 miles range (not factoring in weather, a/c use, electronics use, friction etc) I crossed off my list. It is a shame in 2022, EV's to not have a 300+ miles range. 250 miles range simply is not enough.

      In the U.S. the average American drives 30-40 miles daily to and from work combined. With the convenience of home charging and not going to a gas station, why would this range really matter? It’s like plugging your phone in to charge overnight. Same thing. Are you going on road trips every other day? Again, this is the AVERAGE for most Americans. With the AVERAGE in mind, you wouldn’t even need to charge every day if plugging a cable in at HOME is such an inconvenience. Oh the horror! But this only applies to those that have single family homes. If you live in an apartment complex or condo and have to share charging stations or find it elsewhere, then I can see this range absolutely being an issue.

    • @ohongho
      @ohongho ปีที่แล้ว +2

    • @jsinope2786
      @jsinope2786 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I thought the same but think charging times definitely compensates that on road trips (daily driving it’s a mute point). 20min rest after 3hrs driving is my ratio so as long as it can do that comfortably.

    • @PANOSDX1968
      @PANOSDX1968 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@michaels3003 It's not about 25% or whatever capacity increase but weight to energy ratio and transfer efficiency that make the difference. I will make sure to send you first the specs of the battery that I will invent and then patent it and send it to the manufacturers. But unfortunately the US Department of Energy has already done that. Yes, not the Koreans or the Chinese but our scientists. All solid state SODIUM (salt) batteries with a glassy electrolyte as a catalyst formed at room temperature, which has no loss of energy percentage bc there is no temperature deviation. As simple as it comes. TH-cam (or social media platforms) is not the place to debate such subjects so I am going to stop. I am only going to add this: Panasonic, Samsung, Tesla etc lithium battery producing companies need billions to change their manufacturing to go to solid state SODIUM batteries. Classic example, while we were paying $5.00 a gallon Exxon and BP were making record profits. Change costs!!! And lithium-ion requires cobalt also. And it's kids in the Congo that mine that precious metal so we can enjoy our inefficient batteries. Salt/sodium is everywhere. But there is not much profit in mining it.

    I have an issue with electric vehicle's in Ontario. Our premier doesn't offer any EV rebates to coincide with the $5,000.00 from the federal government. Despite the push towards electrification, Doug Ford hasn't budged on anything. Makes buying an electric vehicle in Ontario very difficult, especially since they're more expensive than gasoline powered vehicles.

    Looking at this for 81yo M-I-L. She wants a green replacement for 2016 G80. She can't see over the hood of the G80, so she isn't comfortable parking it. Her model is from before the 360 camera tech was available, or it is an option they didn't know they wanted in 2016. She wants a plush car, and the EV pioneers are building Gen Z target market cars with spartan / vegan interiors, and harsh rides. Maybe this is the right fit. Comfy up front for 2. Room for the spoils of shopping in the back. Even the grandkids are driving, so she doesn't need much rear seat room.
