  • Beyerdynamic has been making studio and recording headphones for decades. What happens when you take the 80 ohm 770 pro and make it easier to drive, swap the coiled cable for a straight one, make it easier to drive and throw pleather pads on it? Let's find out! Today we review the Beyerdynamic DT 770 Pro 32ohm for music, movies, recording and games!

Take 32 Ohm for phone and laptop/computer. 80 Ohms work with them too but you'll have to increase the volume to 100 level to achieve a good sounding level - you'll not have a spare volume level at all. I have 80 Ohm version and I use audio interface to run them.

I got 250 ohm version, yes its hard to power them but got no idea why someone would want more bass... Mine got really thicc bass at the low end, mid bass and whole mid range is pushed back, treble is clean. Few songs with heavy bass make me feel like they are darker than I imagine 🔥👌

man, thanks for the excellent and detailed reviews! I'm honestly in doubt between the 770 pro and the Tygr 300r (or an Equalized 990 Pro). I currently have a Sennheiser HD 598 and I really like them for some styles of music and games, but for action movies, some styles of music or fun in games are really a bit boring. I don't need soundproofing, but I'm afraid to find in the Tygr or the 990 Pro little difference in the bass. Do you have any experience about them? Once again very grateful for your excellent contributions!

Thank you for the kind words. I also appreciate you taking the time to watch and leave a comment!
The 990 and the Tygr 300r have a lot more bass than the 598. Open headphones do usually have less bass than closed, but most people really like the sound signature of both of those headphones.

    • @gamingaudioguide9292
      @gamingaudioguide9292  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

If you watch the entire video, I cover bass - of which these have a lot of. If you have an app that can do EQ for the treble... maybe. These have an odd shape for portable use though. I would prefer something a little sleeker like the 7506. That is pretty subjective though.

  • @msd5808

Maybe the beyer treble peak made more sense in the 80s on people’s tape decks at home but i think they should update this old design if it bothers so many people today. The Dt 150, 250 and 1350 seem voiced differently (darker).

Which do you prefer between these and the TYGR 300 R? I have a pair of DT-770 Pro 80 Ohm and I love them after som EQ tweaks. The bass can get extreme and really slams you without dropping any detail in the higher frequencies. But I can't game with them for any longer sessions, because closed headphones seem to make me feel abit dizzy and cause a little nausea. I also do not like to use them in Discord when I can't hear myself talking. I will, however, keep them for intense music listening! But the TYGR 300 R seems to be a perfect pair of headphones to me that you can wear for hours at end, as long as they do not drop too much in bass. But maybe it is possible to EQ it up a little more without making them distort? It at least looks like a good idea to own both to swap between for different scenarios :D

the DT770 is going to have a lot more bass and a lot more treble if the HD280Pro is neutral (I haven't tried it). The 770 has a good stage for closed back and has fantastic imaging. going from a neutral headphone to more of a v-shaped sound signature is usually pretty jarring at first. if you do make the switch, make sure to give yourself a couple days to adjust before judgement.

The 770 is a bass monster by most metrics. the mmx300 has about 3db less bass/sub bass but a similar response curve. you using the 770 with pleather pads or the velour pads? pleather pads seal and extend deeper. a velour pad on any headphone allows more air to escape.

You can't really Tell which Sounds the best Like that.
It really Depends which device youre plugging them in...If you want to Plug them Into your Mobile Phone or Laptop, a lower Impedance Like the 32 Ohm Model Sounds way better than a high Impedance model such as the 250 Ohm Version, because they need less Power, so less voltage to Power them. The higher 250 Ohm Model therefore would Sound weird because theres nearly no Sound considering the Low Output Power.
For an Audio Interface although, the 250 Ohm Model is great, because it can handle and Power them to get a Clear Sound. But you can also Plug the 80 or 32 Ohm Version in a Audio Interface, but you have to consider keeping it on a Low Volume because they can get Boosted very loudly with an Interface Like that.
That's Just how I understood it but If you want more Clearance, i would suggest watching this Video:

So my real question is if I did the right choice and if I missing out on a lot of clarity! Don't worry answering thought cause I found it out myself, there is a lot of people that can't hear the difference between the 80 ohms and the 250 ohms, therefore I did a very good choice consedering I can have more volume with the 80 ohms. @@fastpadder Your laptop should be able to drive the 80 ohms fine, but you should consider an amp to get them loud enogh! Also it can sound a little bit muddy at times. I can recommend you getting the ifi zen dac/amp or the ifi hip dac/amp. The zen is for desktop use while the hip dac is a portable version of the zen! Which is good if you also wanna connect the headphones to your phone.
The zen and hip dac goes for 192 dollars with taxes included in price (it kind of depends where you live) the original price should be at around 130 dollars for the zen and 150 for the hip! A very good thing you can do if you want is to go for the 250 ohms and start with getting the ifi zen dac/amp and then when you have enough money you can buy the zen can, and you have the full combo. You use the zen dac/amp as only a dac and then the can as the amp!
You still have the 32 ohm option you know:) which your laptop will definitely be able to power! Thought the 80 ohms version with enough power sound a lot better then the 32 ohm. I recommend you getting the 80 ohms if you have the money for an amp or will have enough in the near future! If not then go for the 32 ohms version rather. Keep in mind if going for a amp/dac the hip dac and zen dac is what to go for!
Btw: if you have a macbook, it will be more then enough to power the dt770 pro 80 ohms. You can even you for the 250 ohms but I do not recommend that!

I have these! I never wanna listen to them! The midrange sounds like mud. It has only sub bass and treble. The bass is boomy and muddy af, the midrange is so recessed vocals and voices sound like they're in the other room, like somebody's screaming from under a thick blanket, it's god awful, these are so dark because of that. The whole midrange is just so terribly tuned on them. It really kills most of the body of any song. The way to describe it is it sounds like any music you play sounds like it's on speakers in a different room. And they do image well, but the tuning kills me.
