Can't wait to see this garden when it been restored to how it was back then.lovely how you bring althorp alive.. Althorps past generations would be so proud. ❤️
Hi. I'm an American living in Massachusetts. I'm 62 I have a great interest in England, the people, the property's, the queen and specially Diana... she was a lovely lady I cried off and on for months when she died. I thank you for these videos I have some of the items that have been reproduced from the Althorp collection. Again THANK YOU.
As always the respect for the history and legacy of the location combined with the future view of hundred(s) year old trees makes for a goal worth achieving. I really like what this generation of the Spencer's are doing with the place. It is a joy to watch.
Did not know that about the plum trees, quite magical really and it brings to mind images of illustrations from a fairy story. Wonderful work though, and it's good to see a new generation putting their stamp so thoughtfully on the estate.
I have been to Althorp (in 2002 and along story!) and it is one of my 3 favorite places in the UK. The restoration projects Charles had begun then, and with your help and expertise, Karen, I love seeing all the beautiful improvements. Each of these Spencer 1508 videos is fabulous. It truly is a stunning and historic home. I have wonderful memories of it. I was so lucky as I saw your dear and beloved sister's magnificent wedding dress and other wedding memorabilia. It was such a privilege to see it and a gift to experience Diana's life. How much I would treasure meeting you both. Thank you for opening your home in July and August. I'll be back one day, I hope. 🙏🩷🩷🩷
Maybe I’m nuts, but I love your videos about Althorp. You have such a sensible attitude towards preservation and restoration. The walled garden will be simply unique and amazing. Thanks for sharing this with the world!
Walled gardens, be they large or small, have always intrigued me because of their beauty and importance. It will interesting and educational to see the restoration of this one. I learned something new about plum trees today! The gate and gardeners house are stunning. Putting the garden back as it was will be most rewarding. So much potential.
Thank you for sharing this interesting information from a very interesting person. Lady Spencer I hope you are able to get that Garden the way you would like it, hopefully within the next few years we will be able to see what it looks like with the new trees. Thank you so much for sharing.
I wish these episodes were longer! I really enjoyed them! I visited Althorp the last time the Diana exhibit was there. The Countess certainly makes America proud!
Being I live about 40 miles from Adams County Pennsylvania, one of the prevalent fruit, esp apple growing areas I think it would be awesome if some of the knowledgeable growers could visit and share their experience and knowledge with those planning Althorpe's orchard. I'm so proud of.all that I see being done here and I'm just an American gardener and land steward
Of course they have had a number of experts consult on the project. The Earl Spencer writes each of them a cheque! Wonderful project, but lots of money is required to make it happen.
The past was interesting, but I think it would also be smart to use modern knowledge. Did you send soil samples to a labotory ? For getting strong trees its probably wise to ad nutrients to the soil, things like potassium and micros. I am retired organic farmer and seen lots of mistakes made by people going organic and myself.
@@karenspencer5360 If you want inspirations for pastures and cows, I recommend Greg Judy Regenerative Rancher channel, he makes exhausted soils thriving again without big input. He gives the herd a new pasture every day and keeps the cows outside in winter, feeds litle hay and he has beautiful, healthy and happy cows. i think he is the smartest farmer on the planet.
The tidbit about plum trees talking underground to foil the rabbits made my day!
What a knowledgeable man ❤️ and Lady Spencers awareness and respect for Althorp and its history is wonderful to see ❤️

I can’t wait to see the garden come back to life!
Can´t wait to see how this will turn out. The orchard seems to be a special place waiting to be awakened.
It's amazing that their expertise is still alive and well. Old school is always the best way.
What you are doing is wonderful and the finished product will be beautiful! Great work!
This entire project makes me glad!! Thank you for sharing these lovely tidbits as the restoration progresses. I adore the 'gardener's cottage'!
I love your channel, just wish it were longer. ❤️

Well duh
💚💚
So why was the orchard taken down? Given the years they could have lasted alone.
the garden was put in in 1733 so they died!

yes, you can watch the work we are doing with Nicole Masterson the farming section to learn more about that. Lots of soil samples going out to labs!
