Countess Spencer, you are one of Althorp's greatest assets!

With all due and the greatest of respect, the Earl is one very lucky man to have this amazing and wonderful Canadian as his partner to preserve, protect and ensure Althorp stands ready for the next 250 years. What a treasure!!

What I love about this series, is that not only are old and forgotten items being repaired and restored, but they are actually being used…items like the knives in this video are a prime example. True living history. Many thanks to Earl and Lady Spencer for sharing these videos.

I really like all of the experts and craftspeople you bring in for repairs and restoration work. It's good to know that people with the required skills are still available. It goes counter to so much of our throw away culture that we have today.

How do you feel when you touch these things, made so long ago? The hands that used them at dinners. The stories connected to the pieces have to be incredible. Your love for Althorp is so evident!

The silver set is amazing. It is wonderful to know that all these old items can be fixed or repaired. They can be used for another century or two. Thank you for this glimpse into your home and its treasures. Your passion for Althorp shows.

I think the art of silver and collecting silver has been somewhat lost. Especially with the younger generation. Beautiful pieces.

But we don't know how. I don't even know where to buy real silver silverware the good stuff. The old generation like my grandmother gate keeps her silver ware it's in a nice pretty velvet case all rusted hell I thought it wasn't no good. 😂 In all, your right us younger generation don't know, besides polishing silver is hard work I used to watch my grandmother do hers.

This is wonderful to see! I've inherited 4 full sets of silver-plate flatware, and it's so fun to use them, and imagine them on my ancestor's tables. Your family pieces have such an incredible history! Kudos for finding the experts and getting this done!

Don’t get me wrong, I love the channel! It’s like you made a documentary, then sliced it up in 3 minute chucks. And it’s becoming frustrating. For example, in this video, I would have loved to know more about the silver collection. Who created the flatware? When? Who is this Tim? Will you use it or simply display it? And so many more questions!

Looks exquisite but silver is high maintenance requires a lot of upkeep. I think it’s all worth it. Enjoy!

🙏🏼❤️🙏🏼 I was thinking that, it would have been wonderful to have a longer program on silver, ceramics, tapestry etc…! Perhaps 20 minutes or 40 minutes. The Christmas vlog could have gone a lot longer for sure!

I found this particularly interesting. I was handed a brown lunch bag about 30 years ago by my Great Aunt and was asked if I wanted it. It was filled with a black cutlery service for eight with a few pieces missing. I then put it away for another five years or so until I got married. I knew it was silver plate because of the discoloration. I have been slowly adding to it every couple of years. We love using it and I love hunting for matching pieces even more!

That was wonderful to see! I’m curious as to what metal the replacement are as it’s typical that they would not be silver.
