I have really enjoyed these videos of Althorp. The amount of work needed to keep it going is amazing. So good to see how much Karen has done to return the house to its glory. And such a classy, caring lady.

In terms of HEARING can you imagine all the ears that would hear that chime, that Lady Spencer JUST heard for the first time? Important meetings, church services, guests arriving...those chimes were present at ALL special events of Althorp. What an honor to HEAR them once again.

We inherited some old furniture from Paris and many pieces came locked without their keys! We discovered that we could purchase a "passe-partout" key online that opens most pieces, what a joy! It's not always necessary to rely on finding the old keys!

I din't know why but watching these little snipits into Althorps origins is so interesting, maybe it makes us all feel a little closer to Lady Di and her family, a warm feeling for sure!!!

"The titles of preservation, restoration as well as vastness of blessings, it is as common to be a part of the wealth that consists the wealth at work, its manner of growth accordingly, that restores the vastness thereof, for herein are truth, designed to be as excellent, as it is written and an oath to truth, to honesty, to its people, and to its way of life. I am so interested and amazed by each one of these videos. I am a Spencer and very proud to be one. Never in a million years would I have began to think about all the history that Althrop offers about my namesake. A trip to England to see it in person would be absolutely amazing.

The first thing I thought of was The Repair Shop! I loved that show, I wish they didn't cancel it. I can't deal with a ticking clock, I end up hearing the tick tock & nothing else. I also end up shaking my foot back & forth to the rhythm. Lol. BUT... what a beautiful clock & chime!

A nice collection of beautiful clocks. We have a small Grandfather clock that we can't get fixed properly. We've had it since the 80's. It doesn't work at the moment..it was neat to hear the chimes.

Is he the clock man from Windsor? They look so similar!! If not they are doppelgängers. That one clock with the black brass?? sculptures was gorgeous. Would love to hear that one chime.

I am reminded of the segment that presented the special horologist in service of the Late Queen. He and only he has access to set/change the clocks. Daylight savings in the Spring is a breeze in changing the 1400+ clocks. But in the fall, winding them all correctly in the manner in which they need to be handled (precious movements) it takes well over 18+ hours- and several locations. And many if not most also have keys!
I wonder though, is he (the horologist) also the clock mechanic/technician? Like your specialist he recognized the need of oiling but not just any oil, and not too much and not too little. All of that must be logged as not to be lost to the next "curator". How many clock specialist will be coming up behind the skilled craftsmen/treasure you found in yours? Quartz movements and AA batteries pretty much ended that career-way before smart phone etc.
~ Time the only thing we aren't making more of. How precious does that make it!
