Yeah it probably is, that's how Cell came to the past, so the cell that Gohan defeated is actually from the future because Trunks deactivated them, but not the Trunks in the DBZ special I think
so let me get this straight. the trunks that went back to the past after killing freeza is the one that found away to deactivate the androids, attempted to go back further into the past but instead run into cell and get killed by him. soo the trunks that showed up in the past at the time the androids were suppose to show up is from the DBZ special episode? i still dont get why theirs another trunks though

I always liked Bulma in blue/green and Trunks in lavender. I just think it's cute to give him such a soft color, especially being Vegeta's son. And it makes him feel unique, rather than just a copy paste of his parents like most other child characters are.
Kids being born with one of their parents hair is realistic, you know.

I always thought it was stupid that Bulma's hair was different colors in the manga and the anime, and that is the entire reason that Trunks's hair is so inconsistent. If Bulma's hair had been one consistent color in both the anime and the manga, then Trunks's hair would be one consistent color as well, most likely.

My theory is they just flat out thought that blue hair looked better in the Dragon Ball Super art style, because if you try to imagine DBS Future Trunks with purple hair it just looks weird to me, but DBZ Future Trunks is perfectly fine with the purple hair because the art style is a little different. I think its an Art direction that they consciously chose, Akira Toriyama might make these color choice mistakes but I doubt Toei Animation with a group of animators working hard on it would make the same mistake and have it span through out the entire DBS show!

well, toei are the same who made Vegeta's hair red which made no sense as the manga had no color and why they wouldn't assume black as it'd been filled in (not left with detail/blank).

Toriyama forgetting explains a lot of things, but I don't see how it explains Future Trunks having blue hair when Kid Trunks has purple hair still. He obviously didn't forget.
Tyrel Toriyama could of designed future trunks without looking at a picture of any of the other trunks including future trunks from Z and i'm pretty sure changing his hair color from blue when we've already seen him with blue hair would be worse than just leaving his hair blue. My theory is that trunks traveling into the past actually interfered with his birth in that reality. For instance if i Bulma a vegeta ended up "making love" at a different time even only a minutes in difference, Trunks could have received a different sperm... but the same egg. So future trunks and past trunks could share 99% of the same genetic material but with slight alterations. That would make him 50% closer than a fraternal twin but not quite an identical twin.

His mother has blue hair and his father black. So there was no sense on having purple hair. His mother is blue so he has blue hair, this is called Inheritance

My friend can see lighter colors but he can't distinguish dark blue, purple, and greens. He's sort of partly color blind.
Given that his wheelhouse is drawing black-and-white manga, it's understandable that he doesn't have a great memory when it comes to colors.
I always thought that Bulma's hair was blue and because of Trunk's father being a Sayan, it would end up affecting the color of his blue hair to a darker tone which ended up being purple. That's how I've always seen this. Oh well.

But if you start watching the first few episodes of Z, Vegetas hair is completely red every time he's on the screen. Inconsistencies aside, it's an odd choice for them to have made his hair blue. Unlike in the manga with Toriyama being forgetful, the animators of Super obviously knew his hair was purple what with present Trunks' hair being purple. It still boggles me as to why they just seemingly at random decided to make future Trunks' hair blue. And even more so why they made it blue in the flash-backs as well, as if it had always been blue. Loved the video though, man. Keep up the good work.

I still go with the reason that he just aged a little and his hair just changed to blue like many people’s hair changes from when they are a baby to when they are an adult. Considering Trunks was still not quite an adult when he left but is definitely an adult when he shows back up in Super and he’s not a normal human anyways he has Saiyan blood which is fictional and can explain away why it happened so late in his life and not before he hit puberty.
No, it was just to have the color looking like Bulma's. Toriyama was inconsistent with both of them from the start. Her hair in the pilot chapter went from blue to purple, in the same chapter. In one of the DB chapter covers from 1992, Trunks has blue hair. Even though in many other pictures during that time, it was purple.

I was trying to be nice when I said slightly better. You're right though. I personally like the idea of DBZ, but it has so many problems that are so easily noticeable, that think to myself at times, if Toriyama actually cares. It's either that, or he's just a rather bad writer.

To me, trunks's hair color is not problem because of their taste, it's a problem in direction, it just shows you how DBS is filled with contradiction.

Better blue in my opinion. The more I read on Toriyama the more I believe he is just a lazy writer that got lucky....compared to other writers of manga and he admits in an interview that he is lazy. I love Dragon ball but he is the least consistent other than with the main character, who contradicts himself a lot especially like animals. Compare and contrast Gohan's the better character, he believed in the survival of the fittest whereas, Goku insults the predator, calls them meanies, and proceeds to eat them as if he was in the right and before you but it was the *children* if you eat an egg your eating something that is trying to become life which is even more monstrous in my opinion if were going by that standard which is bullshit.

The only thing that makes your inconsistently theory flawed is that kid trunks and future trunks have different hair colors .
If it's inconsistent , ok that's fine , but that would also mean that kid trunks hair should also be blue .
It was meant to be blue as well. Toriyama sent Toei the new designs for Bulma and Little Trunks (both with blue hair), but they only allowed Bulma to have blue hair, and changed Little Trunks' to lavender. And then later he sent them the new design for Future Trunks (with blue hair) and they for some reason decided to NOT change it back to lavender.
Captain Malcolm Reynolds Fortunately, Toyotaro realized this and gave both of them blue hair, therefore avoiding inconsistency.

I think that it's a practical reason for them doing it for future stories. It's kind of an admission that Trunks and maybe even older Mai will be sticking around as main cast after this Trunks Saga. And as with everything Dragon Ball, there is a progression of time where characters age, and so we will be at a point where Chibi Trunks will grow up and look even more like his alternate timeline future adult counterpart. Having them have different colored hair later on storytellingwise makes it easier to tell them apart then, though right now unnecessary.

In a sense, they are not the same people at all, for the fact that their timelines are completely different from each other, thus changing the outcome of younger Trunks future. And a few other factors that would contribute to them being although the physically similiarities , they would Ultimately be like a version 1(no trauma) and version 2 (grew up with trauma). Hold on a second Jerry. When kid Trunks is old enough to look identical to future Trunks, it will in fact BE the future, therefore kid Trunks will BE future Trunks so how can another future trunks come back in time to his own era? If this phenomenon does transpire, future Trunks will now have to be alternate reality Trunks.

There are 4 trunks Trunks (Kid) Trunks (Teen) Trunks (Future) and Future Trunks who has blue hair and this is because Trunks(Future) is canon and Future Trunks is non canon Non canon trunks is much stronger which is why they will never meet trunks hadn't dyed his hair these two trunks are also from different timelines which concludes why they will never meet Trunks (Future) didnt fight Zamasu but Future Trunks had even the hair style and everything is changed :)

Regardless I am still going to watch and enjoy the show. The only reason why I would say that it matters is because we will have one trunks standing next to another trunks with different hair colors. Somebody like Goku. Goten, or Kid Trunks would ask why his hair color has changed. Again not the end of the world, but it will bug me if none of the Z fighters ask Future Trunks or Bulma this question.

He’s actually not though if you’ve read the manga you’d know how absolutely clever he usually is about all the tiny details he puts into the manga, if someone hits the arena floor hard on the top left side he’s going to draw that dent in the floor in every frame moving forward. Yes I’m sure there are minor hiccups here and there especially where as adapting the manga to anime is involved obviously but I would never go as far as to outright call Toriyama senile because it’s simply not true.

I think Toriyama intended it to be blue like her mother's but the anime changed to purple. Remember that the anime is catching up to the manga in the Androids/Cell saga, so Toriyama haven't drawn Trunks in color yet. This is also the reason why Toriyama draws Trunk in purple or blue. In super they decided to correct this mistake.
