This is why I say Future Trunks and Mai should have stuck around in the mainstream timeline so Trunks could participate in the Tournament of Power where the prize is the Super Dragon Balls. Sending him off to some parallel timeline where he is likely getting written out of the story altogether was the dumbest thing ever, especially since this arc comes right out of left field and doesn't organically fit between the Universe 6 and Universe Survival Arcs.
It doesn't come out of left field. It's completely organic. That's why Goku gets scratched by a bullet and thinks he's rusty, and goes to Whis. And then remembers the ToP promise. And then gets the ToP rolling. And then pulls out Kaioken x20 just two days after he was getting "rusty" and doesn't die on the spot.
Here's a funny question: Goku almost died pulling out the Kaioken x2 and Kaioken x10 in the U6 Arc, right? And he almost died using just Kaioken x2 against Merged Zamasu less than a year ago, right? So how the *_hell_* is he able to handle Kaioken x20 when he's apparently barely trained with Whis since the Black Arc?

I've always wondered this since the Andriods kind of left Trunk as the only hope. Bulma by this point has already explored Namek, so you would assume she would think about the Nameks Dragon balls to revive everyone, except Goku due to him dying a natural death in that timeline. FTrunk's could be restored back to how the main timeline could be minus Goku. Then there is Zamasu...
You'd have to find New Namek first, and who knows where that is. Goku goes to and back easily, because of Instant Transmission, and Goku is the only one who ever visited Yardrat to learn it.
There's also that Bulma needed to build a spaceship, and having to rebuild the Trunks timeline likely took time away from that.

Well technically the original timeline with still technically be what we all watched the entire series unless you're talking about trunks timeline his own perspective which would make sense because to him that is the original timeline really the original timeline was Dragonball us watching all of Z so pretty much what the audience sees technically should technically count is the original timeline and Trunks should technically be considered an alternate reality

Its Sad to think about it Every DBZ character in the After Life and everyone that was in Trunks timeline is gone and Erased. Trunks is going to a new time line that mirrors the time line that was erased. That is Rather Strange and there can always be a diffrence its sad

To me I think they should have at least made a device to mention it to trunks drachenfels can bring back the universe unless there's a limitation that Goku black come back with the universe and merge with it still it makes no sense

There's no reason to be creeped out by the people who helped you the entire time.
Whis and beerus wouldn't allow this. Trunks is from another timeline if he stays long and the current trunks becomes the same age, 2 Scenarios could happen:
1. Current Trunks and Futute Trunks could have a corruption or die due to the timeline colliding to each other.
2. The main timeline could be corrupted thus, probably taking out the gods,angels and zeno due to the reason on the last scenario.
Remember. Whis and beerus did not want to go to the future for reasons. And their knowledge that we don't know, I'm Certain they will NOT allow trunks to stay in the main timeline.

Trunks came back when he was *17* the first time when he *killed Frieza* . 3 years later he returned for the *Android Saga* and was *20* . He and Vegeta then enter the hyperbolic time chamber twice throughout the *Cell saga* adding a total of 2 years making him *22* . Add 7 years for the *Buu Saga* that he wasn't present in due to him killing babidi and Dabura in his own time, meaning he was *29* . 1 year later he returns in DBS for the *Black Saga* making him *30* .

Honestly, the difference between "wish back your timeline but with everyone alive and no Zamas" vs "travel to a point in the same timeline before everyone was killed and have Beerus take out Zamas" is negligible. The ONLY problem is Mai and Trunks basically being Time Remnants (I watch too much Flash lol) and redundant...But to be fair, that timeline is lacking in Z Fighters and this Trunks is stronger. So he could team up with himself and even train that way. Not so strange when you factor he interacts with his main timeline self in a sibling role, so they would just act like twins in this scenario lol.
This arc never made much sense. I don't understand how Future Zamasu could have had "bitter memories" of Goku humiliating him in that sparring they did when Beerus and Whis visited his universe, when the truth is that in the future, Goku has been out of the game since little after Mecha Frieza appeared. Also, Yajirobe was supposed to be dead in the future (he was killed by A-18), so the bearded Yajirobe we see in the Zamasu arc could make us believe that the dragon balls still exist in that timeline. I could continue mentioning more things that didn't make sense, but I don't want to make a TL;DR post either.

The zamasu that became black and had an obsession about goku was not the one from trunks timeline. Black came from an earlier timeline that was similiar to the original timeline and used the time ring to travel to trunks timeline to join forces with himself (the one that was immortal). It’s all explained in the show...
Also It was never stated that Yajirobi was dead. Trunks only said that there are no more senzu beans in his timeline when he first appeared in DBZ

Just going to randomly point out that the recent DBS Manga Volume 4 cover had Trunks with blue hair. Toyotaro was vague about it in the actual chapter, changing Bulma's line from "does he have blue hair?" to "does he have the same hair color as you (Kid Trunks)?"
So this pretty much confirms that Future Trunks was supposed to have blue hair in BOTH the Anime and the Manga, and Toriyama just wants to troll the fans.

the goku black arc was inevitable since many say that toriyama wanted to go on creating dragon ball canon, meaning that he started using whatever ideas he tucked away in his drawers many years back when dbz finished. one of his ideas leaked back then, i remember that, and according to that idea an evil goku was supposed to arrive from a different timeline. most of all other info regarding evil goku was vastly vague... that evil goku character was supposed to be the final villain of the show, an even more powerful enemy of the z fighters than majin buu. however, that idea was never realized. as far as i remember, that evil goku character had the power to become super saiyan 3 and remain in that form indefinitely, and thats what made him such a formidable enemy. now obviously when toriyama started producing more content roughly 2 years ago, he wanted the newly revived dragon ball to go further than evil goku which gave birth to the universe survival arc. due to this change, some others things had to be changed about evil goku. for instance beerus was introduced and with him came the angels and of course super saiyan god, as well as zamasu, an evil kai who eventually became evil goku himself and he was able to transform into super saiyan god super saiyan rose, which is like a naturally godly state of a super saiyan (or something like that, i dont really understand it myself) which is more powerful than super sayian 3, obviously. so you see, goku black is basically evil goku with some modifications. i personally loved the goku black arc because many times i felt like i was watching some sort of an animated horror series and it was pretty mysterious as well.
Bad ending. How hard Future trunks worked out to defeat 17,18 and brings peaces to his timeline in Dragon Ball Z.

The ending of the arc at first does not seem sensical. But Future Trunks going back to an earlier timeline is not necessarily different from the one he came from.
You can think about it as when Beerus would destroy Zamasu from that particular timeline, it is like a save point or save state was created. Therefore Future Trunks returns to that particular save point in his timeline and in turn is essentially the same and an earlier version of the one that was destroyed by Zeno.
They actually did since the wish was vague and had restored the other 4 universes apart from the Tournament universes . This is to potentially create another arc to bring back Zamasu in my opinion.
The thing is you can't bring back the timeline without zamasu because zamasu IS the timeline.
And thus separating zamasu from the universe is essentially 2 wishes and thus the universe can't be brought back in its original state in a single sweep.
If the Super Dragon Balls can grant literally any wish, and can circumvent time, space, and reality, then I don't think bringing it back without Zamasu would be beyond its power. Shenron has done numerous tasks as a single wish in the past. It's all down to how you would phrase the wish.
Laughingstock Media I'd argue they may not be able to do (anything) But it's through a speculated loophole, since in a similar "loophole" fashion Goku Black and zamasu destroyed the Super Dragon Balls in their future.
But then again everything is "speculation" at the moment considering the series hasn't ended.
I want to see the creator of these Super Dragon Balls.
They should had trunks stay in the present timeline for a bit while looking the super dragon balls so that while he is waiting if goku did decide to go to zeno place and have the tournament started trunks would join in.

I don't think Beerus and Whis would dare to nullify one of Zeno's decisions by bringing forth the galaxy eatin' genie snake. In this case it's easier to be a bit sneaky and mess around with time again a bit as long as football head is busy playing with himself (no pun intended). You're probably right on the drama thing though.

My best guess was just a lack of resources and ideas. At the time not only did they not have the super dragon balls with them requiring a multiverse level trip. Whis or was Mai prompted that they revisit their lost ones via time travel before they could ever consider whatever other options they had.

You said these are not Future Truck's real friends and family but another version of them .. but now they are because they have spent lots of time with Future Trunks and grown close to him!!! To the point where even if he goes back to his timeline he would miss them
The Super Dragonballs have no limits on wishes. But they were likely still inactive from the previous wish. Additionally, it is a LOT harder to find the Super Dragonballs than it is the Earth or Namekian ones. The latter two simply are spread across a single planet, while the Super Dragonballs are spread across two Universes. The future Namekian Dragonballs were also destroyed by Goku Black. They said that he destroyed all the Dragonballs not just the Super ones.
I wonder if toriyama is completely oblvious to his plot holes. He doesn't seem to give his story much thought
It is at this end of Dragon Ball that Rick and Morty shows how a comedy show can be much deeper and shocking than an anime that has existed for decades. It is in that way that one deals with a false world: with bulging eyes and a broken mind.

For 1 it is hard to collect the super dragon balls & use them for such a wish that has a solution
For 2 I would wonder if wishing back the universe & or timeline would revive zamasu as he was a part of the universe as it was destroyed, showing why so much needed to be destroyed to kill/stop him Where would Trunks stay well they collect the super dragon balls & why would that be the only solution they think of in that time?

Given that Beerus and whis didn't want more timelines made, but allowed it, if there had been a more elegant solution like this they would have picked that.
The fact whis didn't suggest it is proof it's not an option. The fact that the super dbs are duplicated with time travel means they are subject to the timestream not above it. The same reason Trunks doesn't try and use the present dbs on his timeline. If it was possible it'd logically have been addressed.

the tournament of power may not be the same. think of the universes and that timeline as completed puzzles. for the tournament of power zeno might have simply destroyed them by taking them apart leaving the possibility of allowing them to be put back together. for the timeline he may have destroyed it by tossing it into a fire with the intent of never allowing it to be put back together.
I have no problem with the arc. BUT!!!!, It would be better if it actually mattered. In the Grand scheme 😉 there are now two Zeno's but beside that no effect. Make it mean something!!!

It was explained in the show. Goku Black is from another timeline where goku met zamasu but was not erased by beerus. After getting gokus body he jumped to a different timeline and made a pact with trunk's timeline zamasu and made the wish for future zamasu to be immortal and destroyed the super dragon ball.

ive never seen anyone loathe the arc, yes its better in the manga but nobody hates it that much, it is good and entertaining overall
they couldn't bring back his timeline because the screenwriters/creators care more about visuals and fanboy fulfillment instead of proper story telling and character development (ex: frieza training for a few months and magically becoming stronger than SSJblue goku who trained with Whis)

Regardless there is only so much you can do to a timeline, It wouldn't be the same timeline at all and would create another trunks within that timeline. And you can't wish anyone dead.
Bring back Trunk's future timeline and everyone in it except Zamasu. Surely a dragon with no limitations to wishes can do that.

It would have been great if Trunks could use the Future Namek Dragon balls to wish back everyone that was killed including Future Gohan and the Z fighters, with Goku there in the future he should have been able to find the Nameks either on his own or with the aid of The Supreme Kai

When future trunks (zamasu's timeline) died of let's say old age where does he go and if you think about it if he goes to the heaven of the timeline he's in now wouldn't that cause problems with the check in station and make it to where they'll both be in purgatory?
I would like to think that they sent future trunks and Mai to the original timeline sense it's events are similar.
I always thought that Zen Oh II, was a big plot hole. Zen Oh's should be outside and above the timeline. The way it was written in Super.... If there are 5 rings, there would be 5 Zen-Oh's. And Weiss could create another Zen-Oh by making a new timeline.

I was thinking because that it was erased by zeno that there would be no reason to bring it back but that just a theory. Also think about it zeno it at the very top above gods of destructions and angels. This shows his power, compare how when a god of destruction destroys someone they no longer exist because they erase body and soul now look at zeno's position and power to just erase completely.
OR the reason could be that getting and hauling the super dragon balls would be a pain in the ass and us (the viewers) don't want to see another GT arc happening again.
