Spider Man 2 at the Game Awards in a nutshell...

- Even though I have not played either Baldur's Gate 3 or Alan Wake II, I don't get how Spider-Man 2 won nothing despite having so many nominations. It's truly baffling and it deserved at least ONE. ONE award. But no, BG3 got 6 OUT OF 8 AND ALAN WAKE GOT 3 OUT OF 8 AWARDS. I wanted to make a meme early cause salt and I'm grumpy about it.
(Also Pizza Tower was robbed as well. Fight me.)
At the very least I'm happy games like Mario Wonder, Tears of The Kingdom, Hi Fi Rush, & Pikmin 4 didn't leave empty handed. - เกม
Alan wake 2 clears spider-mid. Play it and you’ll agree
Baldurs Gate and Alan Wake pushed the medium of gaming forward in ways that most games only dream of doing. I personally believe Alan Wake II should have won as I think it’ll have a stronger legacy but both games are absolutely s-tier and will go down as some of the most influential and greatest games made. I implore you to check them out if they look solid to you (I understand 300+ hours tbrpgs, and survival horrors are not for everyone)
6 out of 8 and 3 out of 8 make 9... And the fact it even got nominated alone for that many is an achievement on it's own.
Even though I did enjoy it, Spider Man 2 was an incredibly disappointing game. I was very happy to see that it won no awards because it quite frankly just didn’t deserve any. In some ways the second game takes big steps back from the first game which is never what you want in a sequel.

Stiff competition plus the task of following up one of the most emotionally satisfying games I have ever played (the first Marvel Spider-Man) is why. Though, personally, I still think Yuri deserved the Best Actor award, he's as Spider-Man as Kevin Conroy was Batman. Just the perfect fit.

@@naweedally506 I can and I will. I've been a fan of both Batman and Spider-Man for my entire life. And it's entirely true. If I think of Spider-Man, it's Yuri's voice I hear. If I think of Batman, it's Kevin's.
No other VA has come close to that feat for Peter for me;

I always find this to be a strange take. Before the TGA, Baldur's Gate 3 was literally predicted to be game of the year for so many reasons. Both BG3 and AW2 are amazing games pushing quality and substance over the industry standard. I'm sure Spiderman 2 is a colossal game too (I haven't played it yet, it looks amazing) it's just competition was steep.

That aside, while Spiderman 2 is an amazing game, it didnt do any specific thing better than the rest of the nominees in any categories. Call it bad timing if you want. Now you know how it felt to like the Horizon games
