I love how in The Boys superheroes, religion, politics are rawly exposed, and there is no running away from the hidden crap society is naive & gullible to. Season 4 so far has been incredible!
I think my biggest question with that review is HOW did the child get ahold of it? Did somebody leave the show on and the kid pressed ‘play’ because if that’s the case that’s just negligent.
These are the mothers who want to censor the world so that they can suck on a wine bottle and not have to worry that anything might threaten the hypocritical, puritanical pseudomorality they inculcated into their child's brain.
I feel like people who compared it to the Avengers never really took the time to watch the entire MCU because there is a shitload of death and destruction.
I think a lot of people went into The Boys with the expectation that it would be a generic superhero show. The show is not necessarily about the fight scenes. I think what it does best is the black humor and the character studies.
And also the fact that there is little action (if I recall correctly since this video was about season 1) is because the superheroes are depicted as "supers who don't actually fight evil forces (like the Avengers) but nearly all the superhero stuff they do is fake and created by vought (best example is the mission that Starlight did with The Deep in season 1)"
It's basically a superhero satire mystery drama that is made to have high shock value by iut of nowhere violence. Just like at the end of Invincible's first episode they made the show see cheery them a massacre happened.
That's what I was thinking when I heard that comment, too. If you're letting a 5 year old watch The Boys,YOU'RE the one with the problem, not The Boys. I blame the parents for not being good parents, not the show.

@@MrXav94 right?? My dad and stepmom wouldn’t allow me to watch movies like Mortal Kombat because they were “too violent”. Fast forward to a few years later and one of my only friends blows his head off without any warning whatsoever. Few years later, another friend was horribly maimed in a bad car accident and suffocated to death under the weight of his van. I’m still suffering from PTSD to this day. Not saying parents should intentionally subject their children to violent imagery, but when all a kid is allowed to watch is family friendly programming, it shapes their worldview and this makes them less able to cope with the violent nature of the world. All I’m saying is there’s a reason every generation is having more and more trouble coping with trauma. There HAS to be some balance.

I love how in The Boys superheroes, religion, politics are rawly exposed, and there is no running away from the hidden crap society is naive & gullible to. Season 4 so far has been incredible!

Your 5 year-old watched it? Might want to try some of the "parenting" I've heard about.
They should have look at a synopsis and what the show consisted of before deciding that it was suitable for their now sociopathic child.

You are right. I wish the actor stepped out of character to say this. The parents need to hear this.
I think a lot of people went into The Boys with the expectation that it would be a generic superhero show. The show is not necessarily about the fight scenes. I think what it does best is the black humor and the character studies.
And also the fact that there is little action (if I recall correctly since this video was about season 1) is because the superheroes are depicted as "supers who don't actually fight evil forces (like the Avengers) but nearly all the superhero stuff they do is fake and created by vought (best example is the mission that Starlight did with The Deep in season 1)"
expecting that , got something way better
