Alex - Once again you have hit it out of the ballpark with this additional information on this bike. The controller gel you describe is amazing ; it's the first time I have heard of it. I have seen reviews of other high powered bikes that either lost power or stopped completely because they overheated. The reviewers mentioned the problem but no solution was given. This alone is a reason to buy this bike. All the updated information that the manufacturer has provided is extremely helpful & gives a person a true understanding of what they are purchasing. Finally the price (including free shipping) is fantastic & the smaller frame size for shorter riders like myself is something that will sell this bike over the competition.

I would love to try those bikes. I'll reach out. I added the "?" to insinuate that it "might" be a 40mph bike. Will have to test to verify you know? Goat bike, and the other ones you mentioned, is a different type of bike all together, I don't see it as competition for this bike which is more of a "mountain bike" style.
I wanted to share my experience with an eBike that I have recently owned. The Juiced RCS with the Off-road eBike controller that I bought last fall. It is an excellent eBike that provides riders with the benefits of torque while still feeling like a bike, not a motorcycle with pedals. It is an amazing setup, particularly at the price point. However, it lacks rear suspension, and it could use a bit more speed. I researched other options and considered the Wired Freedom, but it wasn't refined enough for my taste. The Wired Freedom is an experiment in raw power with a few guys specing out the bike from a supplier in China, buying closeout frames, and building a bike around it (Gen1). Hats off to them for finding Hentech, but the rest of the bike is a parts bin bike. The Gen 2 is more closeout frames that did not sell, all 18.5s. I then came across the ECells eBike and was impressed by its design and quality. David at ECells leveraged his known suppliers and built something with a solid foundation. The frame comes with multiple size options, which is an indicator of a real supply chain. The bike also features decent components, such as the Deore Derailleur. The potted controller is another great feature that will limit the ability to shunt it, but the bike should still be faster than anyone needs it to be. Mr Cleveland is big on rider safety and understands the impact it has on the industry. The cutout rims are just another indication of his attention to detail and leveraging his established supply chain, which means replacement parts will not be an issue. Overall, I think this eBike would be fantastic with Grin's new Super Harness and an Erider torque sensor. These additions would make the eBike even more enjoyable and perfect for riders who want to go fast and still feel like they are riding a bike.
Love your channel - might I suggest holding the subscribe/like button asks for a few minutes, maybe at an interesting juncture, where you are changing pace or subject matter? There's something off-putting with the requests before 45 seconds have elapsed. As stated, just a suggestion. I can't be alone in feeling some annoyance. Cheers!
I am curious about the rack that will be offered because the photo of the bike does not show the still photo of the plan and the rack as a part on the table.
The down-tube on the ecell is much thinner where the battery sits than the new wired frame. It is definitely different but similar geometry. I hope someone with both bikes does a side by side video 😮soon!! $400 difference is hard to ignore though.
The frame they use has been used for years on the monarch with all sorts of duel motor options and still same frame with each, including off road models. Definitely proven to be strong enough " tried and true" I believe is the term that fits 👍
It’s more like closer to $600 difference if you add up everything including sales tax that you have to pay for the wired bike. And E Cells has a much better and longer warranty program
Possibly, but I'm guessing that less than one percent of all people who buy ebikes would be willing to do that so it's nice that it comes preinstalled.
Yeah, I see that now. I just filled out the order and used your code. I'm gonna order the extra battery, duel crown forks, all three bags that go on the back, mirrors, the gold wheels under gloss black frame, the zigzag tires. Comes to around 27 hundred. Basically the same price as freedom once you figure in tax, shipping, and insurance, but I'm getting more for my buck with e-cells.
Yeah you'll have to do some digging to get to the shunts. My guess is that less than 1% of all ebike purchasers will be interested in shunt modding so I think for the majority of consumers the gel is a plus, but I see where you are coming from. Can you remove some of it, and refill it with your own?
@maximumchargeEV I burned it out with a soldering iron and refilled with silicone. They were located at the end of the pcb but it was a clear gel. I wanted to shuntmod my wallke but it clearly didn't have stunts. Must be a different setup in that controller. Word to the wise with wallke bikes is not to modify a wallke....they never have parts and it's hard to communicate with them.
Motors can be run at whatever voltage they can handle. Most motor ratings on manufacturer websites show specs for 48v, but they are regularly run at 52v, 60v, even 72v
I understand that you can run the motor with different voltage. The point is they are not rated for power over 48V So what happens over time? Will it void warranty? Will it shorten expected life?
I live in Chicago so I could just pickup a Wired Freedom for free. But with free shipping, no sales tax and a two year warranty on motor/battery I might just go for the Five Star. I haven't decided yet. I currently have a cheapo Amazon eBike so I'm not in a hurry (I daily-commute on my ebike).

I cant wait to get my hands on this bike and upgrade it with a second powerful battery.
I have herd that the holes in the wheels make the wheels bend easier like jumping up curbs and also I think they help with more suspension in the tires being able to squish better so some good and some bad.
At 5:00 you begin talking about the rear rack and it is a bit confusing because you are showing two different racks in the pictures & drawings. I'd like to know which one is going to be included, and the dimensions, and capacities. Both appear to attach to the bike in the same manner which seems to be a better setup than the Wired bike. I like the racks they are using on their two wheel drive models since it appears to be a longer rack, but they appear to sit up higher which I don't like. I'd like to see the specs on the one that is going to be used. A long low rack is what I'd like to see. I placed my order for the Five Star last week not just because of the real world money savings & better construction, but because it also seems to have a better warranty. I searched the Wired site for warranty info but found none. I imagine it's 12 months. Those extras you mentioned at the end of the video are those exclusive to your discount code? I used a code but it was not yours. So, for those of us that have already placed our orders, are we going to get those extra goodies? I subbed primarily to hear your updates about this bike. true, there are a few photos floating around, but the ones I labeled "actual photos of five star rack" will be what the rack looks like. I believe the extras are included regardless of the code you use. Enjoy!

Rack 'em 🎉! So I guess you like this better than Jflys bine company?
Who's Jfly? :)
@@ricke95126 thanks for the comment! Yes you can tell David is very passionate about his craft.
The revv1 controller is potted also , pretty cool 😂
COOL! haha
Cheers!
Great suggestion!
I wish it came with an option for a bigger headlight.
That's a good point. Maybe they will release an updated version some day.
Are they going to make the 5 star AWD? or at least sell a kit.
Can you dual battery by using the top tube water bottle mounts?
I don't see why not.
Waiting on my blue one👍
Nice!
Weird I just checked their site and it said it weighs 77 pounds with the battery
They are always updating info
I really wanted a Freedom until I realized how big it is. If I got a 17" frame would it be smaller or same size as the Freedom?
Would be smaller. The other day I saw a photo of someone on the bike who's 5' 2". Check out their official Facebook group for the evells five star.
Ok thanks. I'm 5'8 so not that short. I just don't want a huge bike. I've always ridden a smaller frame than what's recommended for my size
@@rickymahoney6664 The Freedom is measured as a 18.3" frame.
I am curious about the rack that will be offered because the photo of the bike does not show the still photo of the plan and the rack as a part on the table.
Soon there will be lots of accurate photos of the bike.
IT DO I TALKED TO DAVE THE OWNER!!
Did I miss something? Some people say the Hentach motor is geared. Is that true?
Yes. Steel reinforced gears
You can buy that gel and add it to any controller I would assume
Possibly, but I'm guessing that less than one percent of all people who buy ebikes would be willing to do that so it's nice that it comes preinstalled.
@@maximumchargeEV definitely lol I would rather it come with it then have to do it and it's not real cheap to buy either
Are they still discounting the 100 off coupon?
you bet! max100
@@stevegriffith7236 awesome! sounds like you'll get an epic ebike. Enjoy my friend!
I can't find any information on minimum seat height or stand over height.
should be in the ecells five star facebook group. check it out.
@@maximumchargeEV You were correct. In fact, they have a photo of a 5’2” woman standing over a 17” Five Star.
Do they have a date in April when these bikes will ship?
Not sure.
Will this bike be available for the uk?
Not sure. Check with customer support
Had a senada that had this gel inside the controller. Made it hard to shunt mod.
I downloaded the catalog from Hentach and cannot find any motor rated over 48V. Is that a red flag?
Looks like you have time to wait and see what the released product is like!
@@maximumchargeEV How long is that code of yours gonna be good for?
@@MrLaptopus end of 2025
Great idea...wow...getting potted is happening everywhere....🤣😂
LOL
Google Maps shows ECells address as a house with a swimming pool and shipping containers outside. No other building on the site.
Update: My comment above is not accurate. ECells just made a short video and I went back to Google Earth and ECells has building and storage containers. It appears to be a real small business and we know they have been around for a while. So my mistake on making this comment and if I had the ability I would take it down. Nothing wrong with small businesses!!
Good to hear about the update!
Seems expensive over the wired freedoms
it's actually MUCH less expensive. Way less.
I wonder if it's going to come with sealed bearings in the rear linkage or brass bushings.
Will have to check with customer service.
@@maximumchargeEV I realized recently, you can take the brass bushings out and replace them with sealed 8mm Flanged Bearings on a lot of these bikes for about $25, Made a huge difference on one of my bikes.

Beautiful🫡 this blows wired out of the water, all they have for there controller is a plastic box which is wonderful for overheating🥵, e-cells controller has definitely caught my attention as a former custom e-bike owner i know just how important it is in keeping powerful electronics cool. I cant wait to get my hands on this bike and upgrade it with a second powerful battery.
This bike would be insane with two batteries!
I want one
what's stopping you from getting one?
Potted. thats also how folks used to insulate their electric guitar pickups. with wax though
What’s with that stupid top ball buster bar on top don’t like the look compare this to the wired cruiser it’s a no brainer
the frame? Do you not know how to ride a bike? lol
@@maximumchargeEV like I said the cruiser is a better looking bike and easier to mount and dismount
I have herd that the holes in the wheels make the wheels bend easier like jumping up curbs and also I think they help with more suspension in the tires being able to squish better so some good and some bad.
They make the wheels much stronger. Mountain bikes don't come single walled.
I drew a really cool picture of a new ebike that is better, and cheaper than this one. The picture of the frame alone is .375 decades old
did you use crayons?
I want to hear the good, the bad, and the ugly, and here's hoping the last two are few.
true, there are a few photos floating around, but the ones I labeled "actual photos of five star rack" will be what the rack looks like. I believe the extras are included regardless of the code you use. Enjoy!
Thanks for the clarification on this!
We’ll see on the testing when bike comes out. They can perfectly legally build a bike similar to the freedom. But make it better off the freedoms defects. Car manufacturers do it every year. Freedom right now have bad frames and forks. Not looking good for them. This is from all the complaints on user groups on Facebook. I will still change out them handlebars. Never liked the look.
Looks like a Wired Freedom
Actually the Wired looks like an ecell
@@tenncutt yes. The e cells was first
I can see why you would say that, but it's a totally different frame.
@@maximumchargeEV So why is the wired bike look exactly like the Ecells???
@@robertshemonski618 ecells has been using their frame for now going on five years, and it's very heavy duty, designed with their dual motor bikes in mind. There was no copying of frames going on here. Lots of bikes have similar designs.
did they promise you a bike? money? what?
