For my most recent purchase I went with the Motor Goat v3. The deciding factor was the dual battery factory kit which gives a combined 45 Amp Hour of capacity. In about 2 months they are coming with a secondary battery which is 50 Amp hour. With the stock battery (25 Amp Hour), this gives a total capacity of 75 Amp hour. I will say I like the form factor of the eCells and the Wired Freedom a bit more. Also, wired Freedom will now comes with a secondary battery at no additional cost, this gives it 35 Amp Hour of capacity at no additional cost. All of the top bikes are in pretty active competition for your dollar these days. Features continue to grow, with 203mm rotors and quad piston calipers being the norm. It is a great time to be alive, but a tough time to make purchase decisions.
always good to have options! I own the motor goat v3 actually with a custom 50ah second battery. It's my choice if I need something only for the roads, but I would never take it off roading. This bike however is a good "overall" performance ebike, on and off road.
The goat is great but it's a moped, cafe style more than a bike. All depends on wants and needs. I'm Rollin a couple 20 inch fat tire bikes currently with one of these 5 stars on list for my next buy. Someone buy one of my bikes! 😂😂
@@addertooth1 it's way too heavy, and the center of gravity is high. suspension doesn't have much travel either. It also doesn't have the tire tread for off-roading.
I had been wondering whether to purchase an Ecells bike or a Wired bike, which are nearly identical, except for a few differences. However, now that I know that the owner of Ecells is so passionate about his product and supports his product so well, the added upgrades of Ecells over Wired has sold me on the Ecells Five Star ebike over the Wired Freedom bike. Thanks for the insight.
I ordered a Wired a few weeks ago (estimated delivery was a month out). Last Monday I cancelled it and ordered the Ecells, it is scheduled to arrive on Wed. Was also about $450 cheaper. Another video I watched said it has a better frame as well.
@Hubjeep I curious as to what you paid for the Ccell five star, the Wired Freedom is 1995 plus shipping. How did you get a Five star with dual batteries for 450 less?
@@informedcitizen8687 $1795 (free shipping, no tax). It's a single 20 amp/hour battery. So far I have 410 miles on it. E-Cells has a 203mm front rotor and 180mm rear. Wired Freedom has 180mm front and rear. Also, the 5-star frame is the same frame on their $4,000+ bike
@@johnnyutah7080 I ordered it on July 1. They had two blue ones at the port, they came in and it shipped on July 5th. Mine is the base model. It's awesome, so far I put 115 miles on it.
Good review, your details are important. I have the E-CELLS Super MonarchCrown. It's 95 pounds because it has 2 wheel drive, 2 batteries and dual suspension. For trail/dirt road exploration and hunting it's great. Yeah, it's heavy B/C it is a CARGO mountain bike. I WANT SOLID STATE BIKE BATTERIES!
The price for that bike is $1,895-$5,230 depending if you want to get all the bells and whistles or not. Five thousand two hundred thirty dollars is a steep price, but for that you get significantly more amp hours.
just like cars, you have base models and upgraded versions that have different costs. Nice to have options right? Find me a bike that gives you more features than this one for 1895 after checkout.
[WHEN I BOLDED KEY WORDS THEY WERE BLANKED OUT. THIS TIME I WILL CAPITILIZE] Nice review! Was checking for reviews, good to see they’ve start trickling thru. Things I would have liked you to cover more: > Reporting on the HEAT SENSOR. In high performance ebikes heat is know to be the most common point of failure, so knowing how well it did during hot weather while running at high rpms for an extended time would be good to know - What was the CADENCE SENSOR like? Some do a better job than others. Being that the torque sensor is probably the #1 upgrade for most people, it’ll be good to hear how big of an upgrade that would be. And the way you talked about going slow and then the subsequent jerk from using the throttle, sounds like the throttle is an on/off switch like the BBS02 throttles > DUAL CROWN FRONT FORK UPGRADE: What the heck is that? > Sounds like they really want you to get their dual crown/7” headlight/dual battery upgrade, it’s such a good price compared to buying separately, probably the way I’ll go if I can afford it >>>>>>>> Maybe go into how the above $500 add on, which includes the rear battery, brings the prices closer in parity to the Wired Freedom > 24" VS 26" WHEELS? If that amounts to 10 pounds less it might be an option worth consideration > The Achilles heel of all these faster e-bikes is the huge amt of battery power required to take advantage of the power and have a decent range. I can see why Wired Freedom is including the rear battery > How does it work when there are TWO BATTERIES? Some systems draw from both batteries, which lessens the heat/wear and tear > The OPTIONAL STREET TIRES . The problem with bikes with 2” wide tires is they’re not very stable at speeds over 25mph. Would be very curious to know how much stability for street riding the optional street tires provide. > The DELIVERY TIME : much is made of the customization, but that also means you’re waiting up to 60-75 days! Does that mean that there are no standard issue bikes available NOW? I can see a huge advantage Wired Freedom will have given they’re offering a basic bike that can be bought as is and the options are something they can do here in the states, I assume, so little to no time added to delivery dates! Perhaps this is why ECells is bending over backwards to offer more for less money: the ever impatient American consumer will need a good reason to wait over 2 months! > The FREE FRONT BASKET is still being offered? How much longer? -------------------------------------------------------------- My desire is for a low-cost motorcycle-lite. It’s dangerous on city streets having little acceleration and a throttle top speed of 25mph. And for my needs, 50-75 mile trips are desirable. But motorcycles are too heavy (bike racks, hanging them from ceiling, etc.), and provide no exercise, so I’ve been looking for that sweet spot. The motors are getting up to snuff, it’s the battery technology that’s lacking. To be viable for my needs, I’d need 60-80ah of batteries? Which then runs into problems of weight and carrying extra batteries around.
There are a lot of blanks in your comment about things you were asking. Read what you sent me. If you fill in some of those missing words I can respond.
Got your fixed comment. Let's go through it. Things I would have liked you to cover more: > Reporting on the HEAT SENSOR. In high performance ebikes heat is know to be the most common point of failure, so knowing how well it did during hot weather while running at high rpms for an extended time would be good to know Answer: tolerances are built in to withstand normal use. These systems are stress tested, maybe not in the hottest place on earth, but I think it will survive most locations. - What was the CADENCE SENSOR like? Some do a better job than others. Being that the torque sensor is probably the #1 upgrade for most people, it’ll be good to hear how big of an upgrade that would be. And the way you talked about going slow and then the subsequent jerk from using the throttle, sounds like the throttle is an on/off switch like the BBS02 throttles Answer: I think this bike has one of the best cadence sensors, I don't like torque sensors. > DUAL CROWN FRONT FORK UPGRADE: What the heck is that? Answer: Higher travel, more durable suspension fork > Sounds like they really want you to get their dual crown/7” headlight/dual battery upgrade, it’s such a good price compared to buying separately, probably the way I’ll go if I can afford it >>>>>>>> Maybe go into how the above $500 add on, which includes the rear battery, brings the prices closer in parity to the Wired Freedom Answer: Since this system is 40amps, and the wired is 45, and they will have the same battery capacity (Samsung 50e cells in the ecells bike, not sure about the wired) You will likely get more range with the ecells bike. Many other components on the ecells bike are insanely durable and perfected imo. > 24" VS 26" WHEELS? If that amounts to 10 pounds less it might be an option worth consideration Answer: It probably won't even account for one pound of difference. > The Achilles heel of all these faster e-bikes is the huge amt of battery power required to take advantage of the power and have a decent range. I can see why Wired Freedom is including the rear battery Answer: Yes that's always a trade off. They really need that second battery where as this one is ok with a single battery. > How does it work when there are TWO BATTERIES? Some systems draw from both batteries, which lessens the heat/wear and tear Answer: it will use a blender to draw from both batteries. > The OPTIONAL STREET TIRES . The problem with bikes with 2” wide tires is they’re not very stable at speeds over 25mph. Would be very curious to know how much stability for street riding the optional street tires provide. Answer: will be much quieter and have slightly less rolling resistance. Smoother feeling. > The DELIVERY TIME : much is made of the customization, but that also means you’re waiting up to 60-75 days! Does that mean that there are no standard issue bikes available NOW? Perhaps this is why ECells is bending over backwards to offer more for less money: the ever impatient American consumer will need a good reason to wait over 2 months! Answer: Can you get the newest wired bike delivered right now to your door? I think the current wait time is 2 months for them? I know they don't have them in stock right now. > The FREE FRONT BASKET is still being offered? How much longer? Answer: not anymore. hope that helps!
hey man, I'm not sure if that particular video addresses your concerns about the front fender and headlight having some movement but ecells has a video on their channel addressing how to install that and I think ive heard him say something like you had to assemble it a particular way so it is tight and secure. You might want to check out their channel and look for that particular video/short
Those Stars are one reason i wont buy this bike, beyond the $300 tariff if i wanted to upgrade. They look gaudy as hell and detracted from the overall appearance of the bike. Something a little kid would add in an attempt to "look kool"
@@TrCic Hilarious! That's your criteria for buying a high performance bike when everything else is stellar including the price Get yourself a Rad Rover. You'll look real cool and go 20+ mph. Don't forget your helmet and make sure it's not gaudy
This bike came in a close second on my list when deciding which bike to order. In the end wired freedom 2024 plus out performed this bike in my opinion and that of many you tubers. E cells claims you can buy their bike for less and while that is somewhat true, to get the same options as wired the bike is more expensive. Both bikes are a great choice but e cells, it's time to step up your game and compete to take best e bike title back.
When considering which e-bike I should purchase next, i cant help but to immediately consider the next wired freedom e-bike, and this one (ecells five-star), but there is something about the massive saddle on the power goat that I really like. My whole reason for wanting another depends upon my having the ability to take my 5yr old daughter along for the ride, and that's where the power goat becomes the most attractive option for me.
Ordered my black with gold rims fivestar on April 2024 3 months later no bike, despite 75 day guarantee. Emailed/called multiple times, finally got thru and agreed to accept an all black bike they had in stock. Got the bike a week later. Seems to be a well made bike and I have about 60 miles on it with no issues, BUT no front rack as promised. Still waiting for $49 refund for rim upcharge, and $200 refund on 75 day guarantee. I call everyday and am promised a resolution or a call back directly from David within 24 hours. Nothing has happened. I am moving on to pursuing this matter thru my CC company. I would like to order a second bike, but all of this run around business has given me pause.
Any resolution - is the company changing and becoming a 'problem'? Like this bike but see no customization offerings any longer - just the 'standard' is available supposedly - wondering what happened...or 'is' happening to E-Cells - ?
possibly. I prefer the flexibility of the smaller frame and simply increasing the seat height. What would the frame size have to do with body strength?
@@maximumchargeEVHere. Let me answer that. Absolutely nothing. I'm sure he would have answered. But he's in hiding. I believe there's a Village looking for their idiot. Love this bike. As well as availability of personalization via mods specific to your liking. Face it. Downside of this bike is of course battery life. Aware of the second battery rack option but that's a bit tacky for my taste. (Do they run that through the same controller)? When they manage to offer this bike with dual batteries nicely stored in the down tube I'm in. Till then I'll keep looking and putting around at 30 on my Aventon Level......with 5075 miles. And yeah. I'm all about the larger frame. Good job my man. Thanks for taking me in a tour of the cells give star😂😅
Hey, amazing video! Very informative! I’m new to the whole e-bike world, so I’m not fully up to date with the lingo yet! You said you had 16 ounces of flat out in your rear tire. What is that exactly? Is that like fix-a-flat for the tires? Do you have the flat out in the front tire as well? How effective is flat out? Btw, I’ve been researching the e-cells e-bikes. I’m strongly considering the dual star model. Is there an advantage to getting the smaller 24” tires as opposed to the standard 26” tires? What about the 2 different frame sizes? I’m 6 ft 215lbs. Would the 17” frame fit me? Sorry for all the questions! Thanks in advance! Again, amazing video! I just subbed.
Curious as to how the sandwiched plastic and metal gears are held together. Is it possible that one day a metal gear plate could loosen from months of vibration and temperature extremes? Are they glued? 🤔
Not sure! I would imagine that everything has a failure point and time, and these simply fail well after the regular nylon gears would, especially in high-power applications.
Nice video, thanks! It looked like your seat was too low because your legs did not extend enough during the pedal strokes. Either that or your rear shock needed more air pressure to minimize sag. I am concerned the batteries are not UL approved and hope that will be addressed in the future. Looks like a fun bike! The range should have been at least 30-40 miles for a single pack.
Thsnks for the review. I went to the ECELLS website and there’s No options for me to pick ? What happened? Is that discontinued that I can’t pick options for the 5 star.
Hi, thanks . I was wondering what happened to the options list. I was told by ECELLS that if you use a regular pc or laptop that those options are still there, they told me so a few days ago. I don’t have a PC so I can’t check. I only have my iPhone. I’ll take your word. I received my 5 Star today and will put it together tonight. I have to fine a really good. Video on the display settings so I get maximum speed and everything else maximum. Do you know of any TH-camr that has a video out on this display and does a tutorial on it. Thank you.
Great review Alex All the reviews seem to say the same thing, the frame is extremely well constructed, and the suspension works terrific ! Despite the slight geometry flaw in the 17 inch frame suspension arm. I really wish just one of the five star reviews involved a bike with the torque sensor. How good is the torque sensor option on this e-bike ? For me , the torque sensor and the far better suspension travel dual Crown forks options, seem to be the deciding factor leaning towards purchasing E-Cells over Wired! On paper the specs on everything else seem to be almost identical. Except for the price of course. The E-Cells is less expensive to my front door .
@@maximumchargeEV I just use your discount code to purchase a Beautiful blue loaded five star with the torque sensor and big bitchin dual crown forks. Thank you very much .
WOW thank you for showing the ebike! you show the features in great detail too. very nice plus a few things that are ez DIY improvements [if a person chooses to :) Im more of a slow rider & hill climbs [my drive way ends in a 23% grade the last 30 ft - my Ebike will do it on a fresh charge, but the twist throttle helps me walk it up the rest of the way. [my ebikes are 750 watt hub drive 48v 20 amp] slower but ok. . I like the 5 star step over a lot, but am more likely to get the step star as Ive decided the ST just works better for this ole boy after a few hours riding I get tired & my step over isnt as easy as it was 20 years ago. so I tried & to my surprise the gurls style is to my liking. ;) perhaps the front chain ring I can drop down a few teeth as I like to climb ez - top speed isnt hat important to me. shucks 28 is too fast for me - lol [thanks for showing the hill climb] my comfort cruising mph is 15 or so. I ride dirt/gravel most often (avoid the streets n highways) my current fat tire 26x4 ebikes go up a 12% grade easily about 14mph on PAS4 so I pedal a bit less as on loose gravel Im not feeling so stable at that speed. I thought about the wired, BUT this Ecells are looking to be my #1 choice. there are many yt vids & the ecell ebike has won me over. just think to get a step star and a smaller chain ring [Ez swap If they dont offer to]
@@maximumchargeEV just a step thru - and my thought is a smaller chain ring? maybe 40? or? as I, ok with 30 top speed.but MORE EZ steeo hill climbs im content to put along about 15mph without a worry if the hill gets 12% and a short range of 23%
Consider the SMLRO or Zeeger S1, perhaps the Philodo H8 on that steep hill. All three are 1kw motors on both wheels. Most are a combined 160ish Newton meters of torque. This gives them a higher torque figure than your other top three bikes.
The only thing that kinda sucks is the 60 and 75 day wait times. I mean, I get it. But when you finally make your decision to get an ebike after all of that research and you drop that money, you want your bike now.
Shame it's not setup with the $500 package of the extra battery, dual crown forks and big headlight. Can't wait to see the real configuration as well as the step thru.
Yeah, I wouldn't say king. The bike is a bit behind many others. This bike is decent for what it is, no doubt. However, it's capable of being so much better if they made a dual motor option. May I ask what kind of batteries they are? Are they sansung?
in my opinion, if you're over 5'6", you'll probably be fine for this bike since the stand over is just over 28" You can also get it with smaller wheels to reduce that even more. I would say if you need a good "all around performing" ebike and you can't have multiple e-bikes, this is absolutely the one to get.
Customer service should be able to help you with that question. I'm not sure. Thanks for the comment kev, always good to see you in the comments section.
My God I want one of them so bad! I hate that I have to wait a year, especially since my Onyx cty2 was stolen. I have to get over that damn bike somehow!
I have ordered E-cells five star in May, still not getting. E-cells five Star's customer function and order delivery in proper time are not good. Please delivery my e-bike timely. Anyone knows here how long have they taken time to deliver e-bike?
@@maximumchargeEV well darn. Which would you recommend for a 250 guy, 100 mile path I like to ride (only do about 30 so far ),great lights for day and night as well as blinkers? I also use on roads at night for fun. Current bike is Jasion X-Hunter.
No it's a built in feature of this bike so you can make it home at lower voltages. Might be okay since at that lower voltage you wouldn't really get a lot of power out of the bike anyway you know?
Awesome bike it appears a lot of of thought went into its design. What has me a bit confused are the welds. They are very rough and unsightly. Come on guys clean them up.
I was going to order the five star bike this week. Just before I did I saw a video from Citizen Cycle channel on the new upgraded Wired Freedom. I ordered the Wired bike. I hope you can get your hands on the new Wired model to review it.
I'm not sure if they would send me one, I do have an operational affiliate link for wired, but it's been radio silence from them for almost a year now.
it's actually great because the seat height is lower with the smaller frame. I saw a photo on ecells' website of someone comfortably standing over the bike at 5'2". Did you see the step star? That might be the ticket.
@@maximumchargeEV I haven’t seen it as of yet, however a rear rack bag would likely add to the height. Thanks for your advice, also do you know about the latest step through frame and if a shorter rider has enough space between the rear shock and the front frame to step through without lifting one’s leg over the shock?
The dual step with 24” tires would probably be the best option and this is where they have the wired step through cruiser beat. The wired is only available with 26” tires plus the rear shock (according to Wired’s support), requires one to step through but over their rear shock lifting one’s leg 24+ inches. No consideration when it comes to riders with lower extremity flexibility issue (ie; hip replacements). E-cells has that issue covered
buyer’s remorse may kick in if i buy now as they are constantly making improvements. until the bike is to a certain point. they need to fix that suspension hitting the battery out of the box, even though turning the shock around is a workaround. more ul certifications. heard larger brake rotors are coming june 18th. plus that derailleur guard, even though i can add one myself… nice to have all the details sorted out right out of the box, as there is always more to do or stuff to “enhance”.
Gotcha. I wasn't exactly sure. I think in a previous video I did mention that it would reduce the weight by a bit as well, forgot to say it in this one. :)
MC...Do you know the hill slope degree? For me, the 2 biggest hills, in my area, are rated at 12-15% slope grade @ 2.5-4 miles long & approx. 14% slope grade @ 0.5-0.75 miles long. From the looks of it, the Five Star would Eat Up those 2 hills!-lol...Stay Safe, Ride Safer...Aloha from Hawaii
Ahola and mahalo friend! One of these days I'll retire up there. Vacationed in Oahu once and it was amazing. And one of these days I'll have to check the slope of those hills.
Well it didn't hold the position of king for long. Wired Freedom upped their game significantly. A new second 60v battery. A bew 45 amp controller, plus lots of other upgrades. All at the same price of $1999 as the Wired Freedom was previously.
@maximumchargeEV , It was at that price before. It hasn't increased, you still get all the upgrades, including the extra battery, the 45 Amp controller, and much more. So, like I said: The new king didn't live very long.
@davidgraham2673 you can't get the wired bike for 1895. (After shipping and tax costs). Imo if you need an all around Good ebike for most applications, and have 1900 dollars to spend, you can't beat this.
@maximumchargeEV , I agree that it's a great deal for the money. Even the Wired Freedom is a great bargain, and that includes the extra costs. My comment was based on Wired Freedom having retaken the crown back. E-cells had a slightly better bike. I think that is an honest statement. Wired gas responded though, and we are the winners here. Now we get an even better, faster upgraded version of the Wired Freedom, and it's still exactly the same cost as before. I was well aware of the associated costs.....I just think it's still a great bargain. Much more so now with two batteries, and a 45 Amp controller. Now it's even better, and for the sameprice. I can't wait to see what's in the offing a year from now.
@@davidgraham2673 I hear what you're saying. My opening comments in the video specifically referred to this being the king at the 1900-dollar price range. Yes it's a constant arms race for e-bikes. In five years we will probably have some insane tech for a great price that will make today's ebikes seem like dinosaurs. Thanks for the well thought out comment!
good test for that granny gear on that 40% hill. You could do even steeper with that granny gear, because you were at 9 mph at top. Gearing can do 60 rpm at 3mph.
probably could. That motor still tries to give it everything it's got even when it's at 5mph when most motors stop giving power. With a smaller chaining it would be a monster hill climber if someone wants to do serious off-roading with it.
@@maximumchargeEV would love to see a video with the fenders and rack removed. I plan to do that when I get mine. Delivery is set for another month now but it will have every upgrade except the belt drive. Very excited.
I hate to say this, for fear of sounding envious or jealous in any way, but i cant help but wonder sometimes, if i could manage to get enough subscribers of my own, that companies might even begin sending me ebikes to review. So, just this morning i came across an ecells five atar review here on youtube, and was extremely confused to see that the youtube only had 2300 subscribers!! Needless to say, my mind is still blown...and confused as to how the hell thats possible!
Sometimes it's not about the subscribers, especially since some ebike reviewers have fake subscribers that they paid for (against you tube terms of service) but more about the ability to create an interesting, fun, and informative video. Keep practicing!
Area 13 came out with a video addressing that the Federal Consumer Protection Commission is reviewing e-bikes in a very significant way in an effort to create national guidelines for states to follow. Currently many states limit the motor to a max of 750 watts & where they can be ridden. Given the increase in higher powered bikes are you concerned that bikes like Ecells & Wired could be considered mopeds which would make them illegal to ride on sidewalks, parks, etc.? They could be relegated to streets only & require registration & insurance. This could be end up being detrimental to all of us who want to own these types of e-bikes. He did provide a link to the document they have come out with asking for the public to comment. Many of the comments already published are not very favorable. The commission is citing the increase in accidents & deaths, but in reality they are low compared to the huge increase in the volume of sales that have occurred in the last 3 years. So we all need to be aware of this & TH-cam influencers like yourself need to provide valid feedback or the bureaucrats in Washington will find a way to really screw it up. Sorry for ranting.
I see those concerns too. I have a fine ST ebike with a 750 watt hub drive [I like it & will be keeping that for those restricted areas] buut Step Star with all the extra power will be fun for its purpose ;) yeah from my bike dayz had a few different ones for each use. on my trucks? a highway hauler and another to plow snow. it all comes down to your priorities and how much space you got for you toys ;)
Why does it take so long for Ecells Ebike to send out anything you order don’t they realize that their customers base is old as hell and will probably die any day we are tied of waiting for stuff that we have ordered 🤬
They release this one after they see the Wired Freedom that is coming next month. Check it out, it still has most of this stuff but I think it have better specs the ECell and it comes in a step thru version (Cruiser) which the ECell don't.
It doesn't have the liquid cooled controller, it doesn't have the double walled wheels, it doesn't have all the options, they ripped off of ecells, they charge waay too much for shipping AND a security fee. Ecells is the better brand!
@@maximumchargeEVHave you watched the TH-cam video with the Machinist (of 25 years) that couldn’t get his wiredebike issue resolved by customer support and commented about the way the wired and ecell bikes compare mechanically? It’s making me do much more research before choosing a 60 v 20ah e-bike, and I live only about 20 miles from wiredebikes warehouse in Illinois so I wouldn’t need to pay $250 in shipping
If you want the standard set-up, i would say its value is equal to the Wired Freedom, but if you want to upgrade anything, then it is NOT. Not only are you paying extra for the upgrade but a $300 tariff? GTFOOH!! "*PLEASE NOTE* It’s important to note that a $300 tariff fee will be applied if you wish to upgrade your bike if you add on any additional power or tools options. This is a one time charge if one or more options are chosen excluding storage or accessories."

I got my brand new Onyx cty2 stolen from my house about 2 weeks ago, and now every time I turn around I see videos of an e-bike, and it's just killing me. The police aren't doing anything to help me find my bike. It's devastating.

Thank you! Yeah Tim is the funniest ebike review out there by far. Very entertaining.
Hopefully with all their experience they'll fix the shock placement and adjustment adding air as well.
They are going to be modifying the rear triangle to allow for more clearance with the rear shock. Not sure when but thats what they told me.
I'm sure they are already on it.
You're the reason I bought one early on. I used your code. Thanks.
awesome! Thank you!
i you look at different vids of different e cells bikes you can use multiple discount codes, i got the bike for 1594 dollars
@@maximumchargeEV I really like your answer. Mine has not yet arrived. What is it about offroad use which made you dislike that function on the Goat?
@@addertooth1 it's way too heavy, and the center of gravity is high. suspension doesn't have much travel either. It also doesn't have the tire tread for off-roading.
@@maximumchargeEV Thank You for that summary. It all makes sense.
Awesome! Enjoy the bike my friend!
Wired Freedom with dual UL cert. batteries, better lights, etc. from the get-go, for me.

Great video. I changed my order for my 5-star to a dual battery. Cannot wait to get it. Will have t o wait another 75 days. But worth the wait

The suspension looks like it hits the battery?

Things I would have liked you to cover more:
> Reporting on the HEAT SENSOR. In high performance ebikes heat is know to be the most common point of failure, so knowing how well it did during hot weather while running at high rpms for an extended time would be good to know
- What was the CADENCE SENSOR like? Some do a better job than others. Being that the torque sensor is probably the #1 upgrade for most people, it’ll be good to hear how big of an upgrade that would be. And the way you talked about going slow and then the subsequent jerk from using the throttle, sounds like the throttle is an on/off switch like the BBS02 throttles
> DUAL CROWN FRONT FORK UPGRADE: What the heck is that?
> Sounds like they really want you to get their dual crown/7” headlight/dual battery upgrade, it’s such a good price compared to buying separately, probably the way I’ll go if I can afford it
>>>>>>>> Maybe go into how the above $500 add on, which includes the rear battery, brings the prices closer in parity to the Wired Freedom
> 24" VS 26" WHEELS? If that amounts to 10 pounds less it might be an option worth consideration
> The Achilles heel of all these faster e-bikes is the huge amt of battery power required to take advantage of the power and have a decent range. I can see why Wired Freedom is including the rear battery
> How does it work when there are TWO BATTERIES? Some systems draw from both batteries, which lessens the heat/wear and tear
> The OPTIONAL STREET TIRES . The problem with bikes with 2” wide tires is they’re not very stable at speeds over 25mph. Would be very curious to know how much stability for street riding the optional street tires provide.

My desire is for a low-cost motorcycle-lite.
Pack SOME very good solar, so You can spend a couple days if necessary...but, then You're ready to GO AGAIN.

Things I would have liked you to cover more:
> Reporting on the HEAT SENSOR. In high performance ebikes heat is know to be the most common point of failure, so knowing how well it did during hot weather while running at high rpms for an extended time would be good to know
Answer: tolerances are built in to withstand normal use.
And the way you talked about going slow and then the subsequent jerk from using the throttle, sounds like the throttle is an on/off switch like the BBS02 throttles
Answer: I think this bike has one of the best cadence sensors, I don't like torque sensors.
> DUAL CROWN FRONT FORK UPGRADE: What the heck is that?
Answer: Higher travel, more durable suspension fork
> Sounds like they really want you to get their dual crown/7” headlight/dual battery upgrade, it’s such a good price compared to buying separately, probably the way I’ll go if I can afford it
>>>>>>>> Maybe go into how the above $500 add on, which includes the rear battery, brings the prices closer in parity to the Wired Freedom
Answer: Since this system is 40amps, and the wired is 45, and they will have the same battery capacity (Samsung 50e cells in the ecells bike, not sure about the wired) You will likely get more range with the ecells bike. Many other components on the ecells bike are insanely durable and perfected imo.
> 24" VS 26" WHEELS? If that amounts to 10 pounds less it might be an option worth consideration
Answer: It probably won't even account for one pound of difference.
> The Achilles heel of all these faster e-bikes is the huge amt of battery power required to take advantage of the power and have a decent range. I can see why Wired Freedom is including the rear battery
Answer: Yes that's always a trade off. They really need that second battery where as this one is ok with a single battery.
> How does it work when there are TWO BATTERIES? Some systems draw from both batteries, which lessens the heat/wear and tear
Answer: it will use a blender to draw from both batteries.
Answer: Can you get the newest wired bike delivered right now to your door? I think the current wait time is 2 months for them? I know they don't have them in stock right now.
> The FREE FRONT BASKET is still being offered? How much longer?
Answer: not anymore.
hope that helps!
hey man, I'm not sure if that particular video addresses your concerns about the front fender and headlight having some movement but ecells has a video on their channel addressing how to install that and I think ive heard him say something like you had to assemble it a particular way so it is tight and secure. You might want to check out their channel and look for that particular video/short
The bike gave itself a five star review.
Indeed!
Those Stars are one reason i wont buy this bike, beyond the $300 tariff if i wanted to upgrade. They look gaudy as hell and detracted from the overall appearance of the bike. Something a little kid would add in an attempt to "look kool"
@@TrCic you could.... remove them?

This bike came in a close second on my list when deciding which bike to order. In the end wired freedom 2024 plus out performed this bike in my opinion and that of many you tubers. E cells claims you can buy their bike for less and while that is somewhat true, to get the same options as wired the bike is more expensive. Both bikes are a great choice but e cells, it's time to step up your game and compete to take best e bike title back.
I'm most definitely getting a 5 Star...saving up already .
Going too be a tad bit costly north of the border
When considering which e-bike I should purchase next, i cant help but to immediately consider the next wired freedom e-bike, and this one (ecells five-star), but there is something about the massive saddle on the power goat that I really like. My whole reason for wanting another depends upon my having the ability to take my 5yr old daughter along for the ride, and that's where the power goat becomes the most attractive option for me.
I see what you're saying. This rack can support up to 110lbs, and I've seen some grown men you tubers sit on the rack and ride the bike haha.
Still haven't gotten my 5-star after 6 months waiting.

Pretty sure the large frame is better for anyone 5'7-5'8" & up, unless you weak. Maybe also reason for cable rub
possibly. I prefer the flexibility of the smaller frame and simply increasing the seat height. What would the frame size have to do with body strength?

As well as availability of personalization via mods specific to your liking.
Face it. Downside of this bike is of course battery life.
Aware of the second battery rack option but that's a bit tacky for my taste. (Do they run that through the same controller)?
When they manage to offer this bike with dual batteries nicely stored in the down tube I'm in. Till then I'll keep looking and putting around at 30 on my Aventon Level......with 5075 miles.

Thanks! I would do the 17 inch frame 26 inch wheels if I were you.
I wanted the seat to be low. It's an ebike, and I'm lazy :)

this was recently removed unfortunately, it was being abused by a lot of people changing orders constantly and then potentially backing out entirely.
Great review Alex
All the reviews seem to say the same thing, the frame is extremely well constructed, and the suspension works terrific !

[my ebikes are 750 watt hub drive 48v 20 amp] slower but ok. .
I like the 5 star step over a lot, but am more likely to get the step star as Ive decided the ST just works better for this ole boy after a few hours riding I get tired & my step over isnt as easy as it was 20 years ago. so I tried & to my surprise the gurls style is to my liking. ;)
perhaps the front chain ring I can drop down a few teeth as I like to climb ez - top speed isnt hat important to me. shucks 28 is too fast for me - lol

my comfort cruising mph is 15 or so. I ride dirt/gravel most often (avoid the streets n highways)
my current fat tire 26x4 ebikes go up a 12% grade easily about 14mph on PAS4 so I pedal a bit less as on loose gravel Im not feeling so stable at that speed.
I thought about the wired, BUT this Ecells are looking to be my #1 choice.
there are many yt vids & the ecell ebike has won me over.

and my thought is a smaller chain ring?
maybe 40? or? as I, ok with 30 top speed.but MORE EZ steeo hill climbs
im content to put along about 15mph without a worry if the hill gets 12% and a short range of 23%
Do you think the 24” wheels/17” frame makes it easier to do more regular bike tricks like bunny hopping?
possibly, but it's still an 80 pound bike. You're gonna bunny hop it?
Consider the SMLRO or Zeeger S1, perhaps the Philodo H8 on that steep hill. All three are 1kw motors on both wheels. Most are a combined 160ish Newton meters of torque.
This gives them a higher torque figure than your other top three bikes.
I have a few dual motor ebikes I might bring out just to test on this hill.
The only thing that kinda sucks is the 60 and 75 day wait times. I mean, I get it. But when you finally make your decision to get an ebike after all of that research and you drop that money, you want your bike now.
I feel you. It's exciting.
Did you get your bike Andy?

Shame it's not setup with the $500 package of the extra battery, dual crown forks and big headlight. Can't wait to see the real configuration as well as the step thru.
Looking forward to seeing that as well.
Yeah, I wouldn't say king. The bike is a bit behind many others. This bike is decent for what it is, no doubt. However, it's capable of being so much better if they made a dual motor option. May I ask what kind of batteries they are? Are they sansung?
Samsung 50e. Anything better out for 1895?
Great video!!!What height would be best for this bike? Are there any other bikes you would recommend in this price range? More reliable? Thanks
in my opinion, if you're over 5'6", you'll probably be fine for this bike since the stand over is just over 28" You can also get it with smaller wheels to reduce that even more. I would say if you need a good "all around performing" ebike and you can't have multiple e-bikes, this is absolutely the one to get.

Can that eco mode be disabled through the controller or is that embedded in the battery BMS?
as far as I know, it cannot.
@maximumchargeEV Did you ever figure out if there is a setting you can change to access more of that remaining battery capacity.

Me encanta!
Vivo en Francia y quisiera saber si me la pueden enviar aquí y cuánto costaría el transporte? Gracias por tú excelente video!
Will it be able to pull a trailer?
Good question. ??? 😂
I don't see why not.
How hard is it for a shorter person 5’4” that’s not all that flexible to get on at a dead stop?
it's actually great because the seat height is lower with the smaller frame.
E-cells has that issue covered
buyer’s remorse may kick in if i buy now as they are constantly making improvements. until the bike is to a certain point. they need to fix that suspension hitting the battery out of the box, even though turning the shock around is a workaround. more ul certifications. heard larger brake rotors are coming june 18th. plus that derailleur guard, even though i can add one myself… nice to have all the details sorted out right out of the box, as there is always more to do or stuff to “enhance”.
ecells is always looking to make improvements.
Can I move those handlebars closer to me if I want?
Yup!
The holes in the the wheel are not to relieve pressure these are low pressure tires but to lower weight that's a very fat Tire on that wheel

Well it didn't hold the position of king for long.
Wired Freedom upped their game significantly.
A new second 60v battery.
A bew 45 amp controller, plus lots of other upgrades.
All at the same price of $1999 as the Wired Freedom was previously.
go ahead and see if it's 1999 on your credit card statement. It will likely be around 2400 after taxes and shipping. This one will be $1895.
@maximumchargeEV , I agree that it's a great deal for the money.
Have to work today....which is really annoying..but will watch when possible...hope to see you wearing your work gloves on the high speed run...🤔😂🤣
Arent you supposed to be at work??
Gloves make an appearance soon haha
Have you reviewed the Ristretto 512?
nope! would love to.
Dang I should have kept the 26” tires I’m 5’9
good test for that granny gear on that 40% hill.
What camera and mix setup are you using ?
insta 360 and dji wireless mic.
@@maximumchargeEV x4???
@@maximumchargeEV x4 ??? By the way you make the best bike videos by far. 😃
@@coreyalexander4766 thanks! Just the x3 for now.
Nireeka also lets you customize an ebike to your liking.
Great! To the same extent? Choosing wheel size, adding batteries etc?
@maximumchargeEV I don't remember about the wheel size but yeah you can customize alot. Only problem is they're not cheap.
@@Keith_J. how much?
Got excited when u said 40 amp system but u were talking about the controller not the battery😢
a 40 amp hour battery would be massive and heavy. Where would you put it?
Excellent bike! I mean you're no Tim Chitwood, but you did a good job too 🤪
It is! Tim has the comedy aspect mastered for ebike videos. Thanks!
@@maximumchargeEV That he does! You both are awesome! Wish I could be as good as you guys!
What's different with the 2025 version?
Nice bike but I am waiting for my V3 Goat.
That's a good bike, different format from this one though. I like this one for the "all around" abilities you know? Off road, and on road.
Yes I am going for in road not much off road. I may have a few questions once I get it.
@@papap.8006 okay cool. Feel free to message me on facebook or ask on one of my ebike facebook groups
Sorry for ranting.
there are enough youtubers talking about ebike laws, I won't be one of them. It's not interesting to me.
Understood. Let’s just hope it does not impact the positive impact e-bikes have had on all of us.
@@rickbarber8399 it probably will. I plan on rolling with the punches and adapting, just like the silly firearm laws in my state.
I see those concerns too.
I have a fine ST ebike with a 750 watt hub drive [I like it & will be keeping that for those restricted areas]
buut Step Star with all the extra power will be fun for its purpose ;)
yeah from my bike dayz had a few different ones for each use.
on my trucks? a highway hauler and another to plow snow.
it all comes down to your priorities and how much space you got for you toys ;)
What is your frame size?
17
You didn’t say the size of your bike and you went over your height .can you pleas list the size ?
this is the 17 inch frame and i'm 5' 10"
Why does it take so long for Ecells Ebike to send out anything you order don’t they realize that their customers base is old as hell and will probably die any day we are tied of waiting for stuff that we have ordered 🤬
lol dude what?
@@maximumchargeEV What he said seems very clear. Why did you say lol dude what?
Dr. SCISSORS.. ...nice job
snip snip! Thanks man!
Does the bike still come with a free front basket?
not anymore.
@maximumchargeEV do you know when that ended? I ordered mine April 22nd
Do they ship to the UK
As far as I know they do not because of European laws
@maximumchargeEV Thank you mate
I’m buying one, I want the street tires.
Good chiice
Awesome!
@@maximumchargeEV what do TH-cam to edit your videos? Nice work!
Drone...name?
They release this one after they see the Wired Freedom that is coming next month. Check it out, it still has most of this stuff but I think it have better specs the ECell and it comes in a step thru version (Cruiser) which the ECell don't.
Ecells does make a step thru, in fact had it first, get your facts right
@@Rucker99 I lived in Illinois 40 minutes from them so I’ll pick it up !
@@DigitalPlaygroundTVenjoy your plastic controller. Don’t cry when that thing overheats
It doesn't have the liquid cooled controller, it doesn't have the double walled wheels, it doesn't have all the options, they ripped off of ecells, they charge waay too much for shipping AND a security fee. Ecells is the better brand!
These ecells vs Wired fanboys battles on every ebike video comments are so funny 🤣.
Looks like PR battles in reality.
Is this the same hub motor as wired?
yes
@@maximumchargeEV weird that wired claims 3200 max watts and ecells 2200 max. To me they seem the same top speed power torque etc
@@jasonpasquale7477 The Wired Freedom is faster. More powerful motor and a bigger controller
Kept us waiting huh, big boss?
I only put it together this past Friday night! 🥲
Still better off going with a Wired Freedom. Best bang for your buck.
you can combine the no tariff sale and my code to make this 1895 no tax no shipping, wired would be 400-500 more.
I will buy it if you add a 12 pack of beer 🍻
that's haram
One question how much do you weigh?
200
anyone know is he on the 17" frame or 19? thanks

LMAOO this entire video is wired slander and im all here for it
"Not like those OTHERR e bike brands"
"This bike really makes you feel FREE"
For some strange reason, i wasnt subscribed to your channel, and IM POSITIVE that i was already a subscriber!. I dont get it!!
Thank you!
Try yelling out Muhammed when you're upset.
:D
Lol, thought the exact same thing! Why is it Always "Jesus"? Becuase He is God in the flesh. He is the true, living God. The dude frome Islam is the most obvious false prophet in the history of mankind.
I got my brand new Onyx cty2 stolen from my house about 2 weeks ago, and now every time I turn around I see videos of an e-bike, and it's just killing me. The police aren't doing anything to help me find my bike. It's devastating.
Wish I could help. That’s not cool🥲
sorry man! Some people suck. Keep your head up!
Is it lower than a keplar is
for standover height?
Yeah
