Streisand changed everything, and this is a fine example. No more Doris Day, Eydie Gorme, Rosemary Clooney...she took the music world on a much needed "new direction". Blessed with a unique set of pipes and intelligence, she has yet to be surpassed. Judy was an incredible singer, but rarely strayed out of her vocal range. Ella was in a class by herself save, perhaps, Sarah Vaughan, but Streisand carved a new path. She is unique.
I've loved her ever since I heard her sing "MELENCOLY BABY" when I was a baby myself. There is absolutely no other voice like hers. She takes you into another dimension with her and never lets you go. 💞👍💞
Melancholy Baby is such a brilliant performance because that one stanza is just soooo hard to get right. The amount of singers I've heard modify the line rather than tackle it as written.
I also get emotional when I listen to this song. The beauty of an incredible human voice reaching magical places in a great peace of music by one of the best composers ever.
This is long after your reaction to "I Never Has Seen Snow" but I wanted to say two things - one, how much I loved watching your face as you listened to Babs's remarkable sound, but two, and most importantly, that everything you heard her sing, ALL the notes, ALL the dynamics, ALL the subtle changes, everything in this song, is very specifically indicated by Harold Arlen in the music he wrote. She is singing what he wrote, incredibly well, admittedly, but let's not forget this creator and his collaborator, Truman Capote. They were geniuses and the fact that you are blown away by this song, is a tribute to them as well!
Your reaction makes me so happy. It’s the reaction that I had when I first heard her sing “On a Clear Day You Can See Forever” as a teenager. Mesmerised, and fully in love.
I luv it when you stood up! Epic and Barbra I don’t know what to do watching her in control of her voice and playing it like an instrument. Flawless performance! I’m lost of words on how to describe that performance.
Absolutely. Her performance of “One Less Bell...”. is right up there with your previously-reacted-to “Didn’t We”. When she sings the “House is Not A Home” half I felt like I was intruding on an intimate conversation between her and her lover. Performance signing at its finest.
Watching you listening to her gives me sooooo much pleasure. I'm her fan and I know her songs but it's like listening to those songs for the first time.
I LOVE your channel.... LOVE anything Streisand. I have been a fan since 1976 when the soundtrack to "A Star Is Born" came out. I was too young to see the film but was as impressed by her as much as you showed here. AND... I never had heard this song prior to this post. Your a charm .. review more of her incredible career. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!!
Yes, JTD, One Less Bell medley may be her best tv performance of her 60 year career. Kasian, please do a reaction video to that one. This is her 2nd best performance on video, IMHO. xo
Such a cutie... talking about my favorite singer! She's singing about never having seen snow, having been told the snow was beautiful, but she knows it can't be as beautiful as her love for her man. You can see her neck muscles working out as she sings in that dress. Plus, everything you've noticed. lol DELICIOUS!
Have you ever heard this rendition of Since i Fell For You? Her recording session. It is astonishing. Thank you for all your reactions. th-cam.com/video/iJt9PeUwTAA/w-d-xo.html
This song is from the 1954 musical House of Flowers, music by Harold Arlen (lyrics by Truman Capote!). While I'm often a purist for original-cast renditions (in this case, Diahann Carroll), in this case I think Streisand's is the best performance. (I love the whole TV special from which this is extracted.)
NO ONE bests Barbra here. Liza also has a great version but the clarity and singular phrasing of this performance cannot be denied. In fact, the performance is so good it ALMOST makes up for the fact that she is wearing Grandma's old tablecloth.
Barbra is my favorite entertainer - I came here from a FB fan page - and this song is a favorite among her hard-core fans. I'm glad you liked it also! (Also, Stephen King is my favorite author, so I was delighted to see your wonderful collection in the background!)
What can you say about Barbra, she is one of the greatest of all time, right alongside Judy Garland and others. The great ones are all leaving us. Who is going to fill in the enormous gap they will/have left behind?? Certainly not the ones out there singing now, as all we hear is a lot of crap!
Enjoyed your Barbara reaction keep up the good work please if possible look at janis ians song at 17 I'm sure you will enjoy it she has quite a few hits
I love this song but this live version from the TV special is not as good as the cut they used for the album, which was done in studio. It is one of a few and I think that they did replace it on the album shows it was not up to snuff. It is a hugely superiour cut, much more touching and the orchestration is more delicate. I actually could cry with the album cut. Check it out.
Great reaction! You should react to Donna Summer - Last Dance (from VH1 Presents Live & More Encore!) th-cam.com/video/v22YbORzDD0/w-d-xo.html There's also a colaboration between Barbra and Donna called No More Tears, from Barbra's 1979 Wet Album
Streisand and other musical instruments. An odd TV special. Every segment is great, yet it just didn't go together. A bit like Belle of 14th street. Barbra at her beautiful best here. I love that she'd go into studio and rerecord all the tracks for the soundtrack albums of her early specials, a double bang. Thanks for the reaction.
I love the "old" Streisand (60s to early 70s) singing these wonderful standards. The jerky motion of her video took away from the full effect, however.
The best vocalist EVER. Period.
I agree
Barbara Streisand is probably the BEST female vocalist ever. Her voice is like no other singer.
Probably? But definitely!!!!!
Not "probably". No one can even come close to her.
Streisand changed everything, and this is a fine example. No more Doris Day, Eydie Gorme, Rosemary Clooney...she took the music world on a much needed "new direction". You got so mesmerized on the part " liiiike....." We all did 🎶🎶❤️ she's really is d greatest.
She certainly is!
My favorite singer ever. Thank you for uploading this song
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
That powerful crescendo gets me every time - Streisand is magic. Wow.

Beautifully said!
She is as stunningly beautiful as her voice! Those eyes! Her vocal control is so amazing!
A real beauty!
Stunningly beautiful?
And she sings this aria sitting down!
Yeah, it just shows how effortless singing is for her.
I really Love Barbra Streisand
Your reaction makes me so happy. It’s the reaction that I had when I first heard her sing “On a Clear Day You Can See Forever” as a teenager. Mesmerised, and fully in love.
Best voice ever! ❤
Brilliant. One of her very, very best vocal performances -- and that's saying a great deal.
She is a once in a lifetime talent. She has a magnificent voice and she's a great actress too.
Classy 💕, powerful but not over singing, masterfully executed 🎶❤️ only Barbra can exude such quality
I luv it when you stood up! Epic and Barbra I don’t know what to do watching her in control of her voice and playing it like an instrument. Flawless performance! I’m lost of words on how to describe that performance.
Thank you for sharing this beautiful performance.
I love barbra, I love your reaction 😍
Your expression at 4 26 says everything. Unsurpassed vocal. The greatest there ever was, is or will be.
I implore you to react to her version of One less Bell to Answer/ A House is not a Home.

OMG YES!
I realize I am quite off topic but does anybody know a good place to stream new movies online ?
@Malachi Nelson try Flixzone. You can find it by googling =)
Watching you listening to her gives me sooooo much pleasure. I'm her fan and I know her songs but it's like listening to those songs for the first time.
She’s the best and that is one of my very favorites. I all her music ! ❤️💕🦋

The song is from the broadway show “House of Flowers”
Truman Capote wrote the lyrics for this song with music by Harold Arlen.
This from her T.V. special, "Barbra Streisand and Other Musical Instruments." You are adorable BTW.

Also love Patti LaBelle‘s version.
This is from her TV special "Barbra Streisand and Other Musical Instruments" . It's available on DVD

Little know fact: she performed this in a single breath. That's how good she was in the 70's!
PS: She recorded this tv special in London. She loves the U.K. Her son was conceived there, she's told us.
It’s also where she will live if Trump gets a second term in office. London or Canada.
Es la grande de las grande como cantante.
The expression on your face said it all. You were transfixed!
Thank you Kasian ... I love this !!!!
BARBRA..in her Prine..was the BEST.
Barbra Fans please upload more video of her, if your still keeping it inside your vault! anyone has that video BJS singing that song?
Thanks for this. Big Streisand fan but don’t remember this song. By the way I don’t hear a lisp. Love your voice.

Yes, there’s a lot of screamers out there and not a lot of talent interpreting the lyric.
Great reaction!!!
Miss you!
Me too!!
I say give a reaction to "Tell Him" which feature Babs And Celine Dion! And a stand out favorite from the early days is "He touched me"...ahhhmazing
Help! Anyone tell me where to find this video? On TH-cam, this video is not.

It hangs together best if you watch it on a large screen
