Although she was criticized for it, Barbra's foray into rock was not only brave and successful, it broadened her performance style even for more traditional material. The climactic note she hits on "know" is really more of a rock or blues belt than an expected Broadway style delivery. She is in a class of her own.
A great song from Carousel (1956), when a teenage Barbra was probably memorizing every song on Broadway. Dani, you should review some of the music from Yentl. Every song is great.
Hi Dani. I love watching you react to Barbra. I see you experiencing what I have been experiencing since the early 70s. I don't just hear Barbra, I feel her. It seems you do, too. For future reactions, or just to enjoy for yourself, you might consider: --"C'est Si Bon" or "It Had To Be You", both from her 1966 TV Special "Color Me Barbra", --"One Less Bell To Answer/A House Is Not A Home", a duet with herself on the Burt Bacharach TV Special in 1971, --"I Never Has Seen Snow" or her duet with Ray Charles, "Cryin' Time/Sweet Inspiration" from her 1973 TV special "Barbra Streisand and Other Musical Instruments". Thanks for today's reaction! 😊
Great reaction, Dani. This has always been one of my favorite songs of Barbra's. You're spot on with your analysis too... she feels every word. As she has often said, "What comes from the heart, goes to the heart."
Hey Donna...It's funny, I've never heard Barbra say that, but it conveys exactly what I just tried to explain in my comment--about feeling Barbra as well as hearing her. I wish I had read your post before I wrote mine. I would have stolen from...er...referenced it! 🤭
@BrettTwinSavage It really is a powerful conveyance Barbra so naturally does. I've heard her say it a few times, and as you get into her new autobiography, you'll hear (or see) her say it again. David, you can steal, or reference, from me anytime 😉. Lord knows how many times I have from you.
Thank you! Can you believe she wanted to do that over? Let us know if it becomes a fav or is it just me? Ok, now that I have your attention ,…she does a live tv spot with Burt Bacharach on piano singing his “close to you”. She is incredibly sultry in this, like maybe we should leave the room? The contrast in their voices jumps out. You will like it.
If you ear all the broadway album,it's vocal masterpiece after vocal masterpiece. Her voice was on fire AS ALWAYS and i strongly doubt that she was worried about "hiting" any notes. She does it effortlessly as she has always done.
Really enjoyed this reaction. I have always enjoyed her. I haven't seen you do any connie francis reactions. She was the biggest selling female artist until Barbra finally surpassed her in the 1970s. There is a video of one of her biggest songs, Where the boys are, being done live before a military audience which I would love to see you react to. Hopefully someday?! Love ya!
Not anymore. Haven’t you seen her live? I did twice, one with IL DIVO live in concert in 2006 and Back to Brooklyn. She’s fantastic and recovered her fright on stage. Great artist. I’m just half her age, but she’s the ultimate performer for me. ❤
? I was watching a Dani Atkinson original and clic to comment and here is Streisand ? Anyway Dani you have a great voice, better than Barbra's actually. Why in the hel l when i clic on a Dani original to comment i end up on Barbra?
She is truly the greatest star!! Like you Dani I too am obsessed with Barbra. She is a gift.
Streisand’s voice is from another dimension. It knows no bounds.
Perfection!
She’s just amazing.
She is. It is unreal.
C est la plus grande chanteuse elle est la meilleure ❤

She’s peerless. Period.
My Queen B !!! 👑💝
What wonderful song from Barbra. TYD 💐🤗🥰
Everyone loves New Yorkers, Broadway, Barbra, and Dani. Great show .
So sweet!! Thank you!! I love all of you!!
Anything Barbra is always amazing!!

She’s in a League of Her Own!
Definitely !!

Great suggestions, David!
Babs is the best!
Just beautiful.
Barbra Streisand👍👍👍

I wish they had kept that final harp arpeggio in at the end. It adds so much. But I guess they couldn't because of how it sounded on vinyl.
Hi Dani. Check out ‘Make Our Garden Grow’. It was recorded around the same time as this one & is fantastic!

Definitely not just you. The only problem with this song is that it's too damn short.

Goats.........Barbra S and Celine Dion.
Barbra was worried about the end of this song because it was to hi for her. But she hit the notes so brilliant.

I think she said it was going too slowly not that it was too high.

Believe it or not Dani Barbra gets very nervous performing Live and has said She never will again.

have you ever heard of the streisand effect?

Well thank you, Mike. That's a huge compliment. Thank you times a million.
Her voice is angelic. Her politics suck.
They only suck because you don't agree with them. Thankfully, there are many who do.
@@donnamentrasti2695 Amen, Donna!
