BARBRA STREISAND STARTED SINGING IN 1962 ... SHE IS FROM NEWYORK CITY.. LOVED HER SINCE I WAS 12YRS.PEOPLE WHO NEED PEOPLE... IS A GOOD ONE WHEN I WAS YOUNG.. ❤ TO A QUEEN .
Practically fell off my bed . I've never heard or saw this version of Tomorrow. Simply put me to goose bumps mode and tears flowed from my heart and out of my eyes. Love this musical phenomenon. Another will not come for galaxies to come. She is the real deal. Fan since 1965 ! Mwah. Thanks for posting this.
Great job. Streisand is a magnificent musical instrument. I've been her number one fan for over fifty years. Watching her phenomenal career throughout the years has been a great privilege. I think Sidney Poitier said it best at the AFI Awards for Streisand--"We thank you, Barbra Streisand, for giving us that voice, that echoes so beautifully across time".
I feel so privileged to have grown up from the age of 9 years old loving and admiring her, I am now 64 years old and the way I feel has never changed over the years. Thank-you for a great and genuine reaction.🤩🥰 Xxxx
Love Barbra, Love your reaction. Best female Vocalist.. What a voice.. She is blessed." Woman in the moon".. Also "We're not making love anymore". Two more great songs from Babs..
I love "Woman In The Moon" and never tire of watching her as Esther let out that defiant last belt, whip the cord in a half circle, then stab the mic back into the stand. Then she looks at the audience who had booed her at the start of the song like "any questions?" 😄. She does a toned-down version of the cord thing here.
Streisand was never in finer voice than during this era ... right off the heels of A Star is Born (1976-77) when Barbra was exercising her stadium (((BELTING))).
Just love your reactions to Barbra, Patrick. And you don't have to ever feel apologetic or awkward for starting to say..."The greatest singer" [to saying "One of"]... she IS the greatest singer ever! When God gave her that amazing instrument, he tossed the mold away. There simply isn't another voice ever that even similarly resembles Barbra's. Just one note, and you know it's her! But it was up to her to use that gift as God meant her to, and add to it her ability to reach others with such emotion and skill learned only through the joy and pain of her life's experiences. Barbra didn't cover many popular or well known songs like this one, but when she did, she owned it and it then became her's. Once you've heard her version of a song, once she's touched it, no one else's will do. I think that's also why in reverse, few artists ever attempted to cover her songs. You just can't improve upon "the greatest." In 1964 while playing Fanny Brice on Broadway in "Funny Girl," a 22-year-old Barbra, in one of the production's iconic songs, sang... "Cause I'm The Greatest Star I am by far! But no one knows it..." Well after nearly 60 years of an incredible career, 'by far' everyone knows it now! So thanks for reminding many and educating the new comers with your Barbra reactions. Can't wait for the next one. Doesn't even matter which ones you choose... there isn't a bad one to be found. Barbra would never give you less of herself in any of her artforms, so just lean back and continue to be in awe.
She has such a unique voice and her own style! I dont think I've ever seen another artist that sings like her either! You hit the nail on the head...other artists you will see clones....people biting there style. Her range is so great and the only singers I've ever heard that come close...are opera singers! That last one hits you! No auto tune here!!! lol It lifts you up! 😁 She is a gift from God!
So true...she's unique...i don't count the number of opera singers who speak about her and give her name when asked with whom non operatic singer they want to sing with...it's always her name that came!
I feel in love with Babs back in 1976. A sophomore in high school watching A Star is Born. She will always be "Evergreen" to me. Thanks for all the fine memories Miss Streisand.❤
Pat you should check out Streisand’s version of bewitched from the Judy Garland Show(1963) and People from My Name is Barbra (1965). The dramatics and crystal like qualities of her voice are out of this world or universe!
I was so psyched to see you picked this one! I knew you were in for a ride of a lifetime of live Streisand singing! Especially loved watching you at the end of the song (because I knew how she ended it!). That last long belt note - so free and effortless, and still so HUGE! Ha! Did you notice she started out a cappella without a note given to her? Perfect pitch! This performance is from the TV Special, "The Stars Salute Israel at 30!" It was a gala birthday party for Israel's 30th anniversary of independence. Barbra closed the show with a mini 20 minute concert that blew the roof off the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion! In fact, the gala didn't get the green light to be telecast until ABC's chief and founder, Leonard Goldenson heard that Barbra Streisand committed to appear on the show. She also sang, "People", "Happy Days Are Here Again" and Israel's national anthem, "Hatikvah", which she sang in Hebrew. You can find her whole portion of the gala here on TH-cam. I just wish one day she'd release a clean copy of it! It was also so great to hear her do a belt version of "Tomorrow", as it was originally done. She did a mellow, laid-back version with acoustic guitar for her album, Songbird, which was released that same year. You should hear that too one day. It's very pretty.
This was pretty much exactly what I was gonna say lolol. Let me add a cpl small points===first the late '70s was when her voice was at it's most powerful, but also when her stage fright was at it s very worst, so that's a shame/some aAlanis-Morrissette-level irony for your nerves: and also this was the height of her antique-clothing collecting, obviously, lol.
@@glennlaroche1524 Hey Glenn! Yes and yes on your added two points. Lol! The stage fright... She was/is/and forever will be a perfectionist. She always gets exactly what she wants on her recordings. But when she's live, she only has that one moment and can't go back and tweak anything. With her it's mostly about forgetting the words (which she did for the first time in A Happening In Central Park). I can relate to that fear. I'm also a professional singer here in NYC. I'm always freaking out about forgetting the words. The extra high notes or extreme low notes or the long held notes... don't worry about any of that. But once I drop a word, I always fear it will turn into a domino effect! One thing I've always noticed about her live singing is once she gets out on that stage, you would never know she has stage fright. I've seen her many times live, and she always comes across as very relaxed and secure and chatting with the audience. But now, she uses her teleprompters! And I swear, you hardly ever see her reading from them. Yes, she glances over at them from time to time, but that's it! It's mostly the mere fact that they're there that relaxes her and stops the severe worrying. Well, that and that she's found an anti-anxiety pill that works for her. Lol!
@@manueljannelkyla7894 Here's Barbra's whole segment. The quality is so bad. There are some videos of individual songs from it that might be a little better. I really do hope one day they'll release a nice digital copy of it! th-cam.com/video/xvRCGSGDl4M/w-d-xo.html
The way she builds the drama in the song is what really gets me. She starts the song acapella in barely more than a whisper and allows the inherent tension in the song to build to its climax and manages to transform what's basically a fairly banal song into something fresh. This performance was in celebration of Israel's (I think) 30th anniversary as a nation, and the shawl she puts on the stool at the beginning looks very similar to a tallit, the Jewish prayer shawl.
This was the opening song on her 1978 album "Songbird". That version very different...softer and somewhat whimsical. I love it. You did a wonderful reaction. I'll say it again: Your channel is the classiest I've seen. Thank you for all the effort you put in for us to enjoy.
