And when she broke it down to me, I began to understand that women who are calling the shots in workplace are viewed differently than men who call the shots. She was pretty amazing. I had never seen an interview with her, but it was really nice because I had heard all these things about how radical her thinking was about politics. And she was so compassionate and so grounded and she just gave me a whole new perspective of thinking and relating it to art was a good analogy. I have a whole new respect for her.

Barbra Streisand knew to have her run and then step out of the limelight to live a real life. As a result, her words don't ring hollow about the current atrocities in the Middle East. She sees the effect on the children of all the religions. I appreciate this interview.
One more example of why entertainers should relinquish their right to be publicly political and just enjoy the millions they've amassed in quiet privacy. All the respect I ever had for her work just crumpled into a heap of disgust. Her politics aside, what kind of a person writes a memoir (30 years later), in which she feels the need to publicly shame a co-worker for having "feelings" (right or wrong) for her? I find these comments of blind adoration so indicative of how easily we are led.
Who the hell are you to tell anyone how to express themselves or when? You don't get to shame others into silence.
