A small suggestion Airports typically try to reduce the amount of trees they plant as it encourages more birds to nest in the area and for obvious reasons birds+airport=not good, so maybe change the birch and palm trees to shorter trees or preferably bushes for more realism.
It's a bit of a shame the monorail in one direction, people could have hopped on after parking and made their way to their terminal a bit easier. Absolutely amazing build 👏
The paths on the airport are for the staff to get to certain areas. Eg when the tractor/tug puts the airplane in the correct area. Emergency services need multiple access points
I felt that 'please turn' when taking off towards the skyline 😆 Yet another ep full of inspiration, loved the metro only terminal. Also, we need more Coco shakes in the videos 😊
Wow, this is one impressive airport build. The island location makes the airport especially cool, and all of the grand infrastructure just makes it even better.
Lovely build, Egg! I think it would make sense to switch that third monorail station with the police station. That way passengers can park their car and take the monorail across the road to any concourse, currently they just have to walk to the nearest concourse as the monorail is leaving the airport as it passes the nearby monorail station. A little shuttle bus from the other car park location (which I see as the more “budget” one haha) would be cute too!
Hi Egg great airport I really like it but I suggest to put 2 control towers on the sides of the Concourse Hub it will look great because each one will face one runway and modify the old airport to cargo airport so everyone will use the new airport keep the nice work and stay safe
Love it! Suggestion: a pathway leading to the ATC tower by the Metro Concourse for employees. Right now the poor things don't have a direct path! As a lover of transpo lines I can't wait to see what the bus routes look like too.
Dunno if its only me but the Island shape sorta looks like a plumbing pipe tool to me. Somewhat like a variation of Spud Wrench so maybe the name can be Spud Wrench I(Island) I(International) Airport. And maybe a Ferry or Cruise ship terminal on the empty water plot would give a nice touch i think!
Lots of good points in that build but two things are going to bug me! 1- the smaller runway should be redrawn in the same direction as the main runway to avoid that sharp turn towards the outgoing flight path. It just looks really weird. 2- the ultra modern fork terminal is way to close to the landing path of the main runway. It shouldn't be any closer than the taxiway. Anyway such an exciting build to see develop and a nice addition to the city
I always thought using the park life paths were to simulate service roads for maintenance vehicles etc :) Love that you made both runways parallel! Approval from me! Great build and definitely long awaited
Another great airport and all of them are different in your different cities. Love the idea of a metro accessible only terminal! All this looks wonderful!
Excellent design love your designs. I don’t know if it’s been suggested but you should do a car park shuttle bus that connects the terminal with the car parks and just does a loop :)
Awesome airport surprise. Wasn't expecting it yet. Looks great. The ultra modern style was the right choice for this airport, especially when combined with the monorail and the monorail cars you chose. Spot on. Love how all the network connections came together at the entrance. Looks great! The post-nap Coco shake was a much appreciated bonus 🐶
@@OVERCHARGEDEGG Hi when i go to open this world save it says [System.NullReferenceException] why would this be happening? any help would be appreciated
I like the detailing. The pedestrian paths look really nice with all the detailing. But the water in the middle is a bit strange without functionality. I also think you forgot busses and taxi stands. 3 monorail stations is a bit much. Maybe replace them with one monorail/bus combo and/or some taxi stands.
Just watched eps. 1-39 in about four days! Love the series! Found your channel after Biffa mentioned Thessia in one os his videos 😊 You should consider adding another taxiway off the long runway so that planes dont have to travel all the way to the end all the time 😊 Love from Danmark ❤
Great build and episode! The satellite terminal looked like an mandala at the beginning 😳 turned out amazingly great! As an name my suggestion is Aeneas International Airport!
Great Video!! I would love to see a pedestrian oriented buisness, hotels and Shopping centre between the big aterial and the terminal, rather than a park. It Could bring more value and life to the Airport and i think the single track monorail line would look awesome, going through This Type of Development!
While I love airport builds and I think this one is superb, the runways really make my aviation geek heart hurt. They simply wouldn't be usable with the skyline, you would only be able to land/take off towards the sea. Kinda takes me out of the realism of the city a little bit. The terminal set up is really fun and unique, I love the central one between the two runways! Edit: would love to see a bike connection to the airport as well!
this is such a great airport build egg! Airports are hard to make in C:S, but you nailed it! the only thing I saw that I think should be fixed, is you should make the shorter runway go the same way as the lang one, as in real airports the planes always land the same direction. Other than that its perfect! Thanks egg!
Cool build and like other suggested, i like the 2 control tower on the ends of the isolation concorse, it make everything feel more balanced. Probably need some concrete around the taxi stand since if it get icy, they won't get stuck in grass. The Farry stop could be nice and a fire, police and waste eliminate area might be needed. Also the regional airport might become a nice Cargo Airport. Cities lore wise was when the funding was approved for the international Airport, and the regional Airport was starting to move it assets to the international Airport, a Cargo transport company came to purchase the old air port for Cargo. Think how in the States UPS and FedEx usually invest and expand regional Airports and add world Hubs for there packages and Cargo. Instead of adding a runways and Hubs at the International Airport, they just modify the old Regional airport for there needs. Also it could be cool to see some type of Military base around the Regional Airport as they would use it for there base of Operations.
I would say to build some sort of a loop around or way back around the terminals from the top level. There is a way to get back from the bottom level there after the last terminal, but no way to get back to the terminals from the top level. Great airport btw.
Love the design, but you could build another satellite terminal, and add another two positions in the actual one, also you can use the back part of the main terminal and cut a little bit of space from the water and locate the hangars there. But overall the best design of an airport. Congrats!
Love the build❤ just one thing about the direction of the long runway. The climb out and departure of the aircraft is a lot steeper than the glide slope of entry. so switching it around would be a good idea so the planes dont near the skyscrapers. It isnt much of a problem in game, how ever in real life it would be a challenge to land.
For the airport metro, you should only have the public transport line run to the first terminal. Passengers would get off, go through security and take a new line run by the airport to the second concourse.
the six lane one-way could have the 2 bus lanes too if there’s one with trees. it’d fit much better too since the terminal roads themselves have bus lanes.
the runway being against the skyline like that is giving some kai tak airport vibes before, hong kong's airport was right in the downtown and planes had to make extremely steep turns if they wanted to land
Love this build! Only critique though is the second terminal further up it has no road access to get to it for example a fire truck cannot make its way there. Could add a road closer to the inside key
Fantastic build again but a couple things: The aircraft wings are clipping as they oass each other on the runway, and you haven't put up a fire station at the airport, which I think would definitely be on site at a facility of that stature.
Lei International Airport. Lei are the Hawaiian flower necklaces, all the arrivals get a beautiful garland of orchids to show the hospitality of Orchid Bay. :)
I was wondering when we’d get the airport. It’s funny because I have to fly for business today. Pumped for this one! Also, Egg what did you think of the new gameplay trailer for CS 2?
Nice Airport ! What you can do for more RP it's to have an old airport on the mainland as a relief for the new on the island or have it disaffected and waiting for redeveloppement Those airports like your in an artificial island became in the end of the 80'
Someone mentioned air trains. If you really want to "tickle your infrastructure pickle" [quite the metaphor, incidentally] you'd build yourself two air train systems! Air trains are essentially internal airport networks, operated by the port authority rather than the local transit agency. An air train should not be confused with subway systems that go directly into airport terminals (a more practical choice). Air train networks may exist landside (before passenger security) or airside (after passenger security). But one network will not serve both functions. Typically, a landside air train connects to public transit networks OFF-SITE to help reduce traffic volume on the terminal access roads. After decades of traffic nightmares, JFK and Newark both completed systems early this century, and LAX is building one that will open next year. SFO has a shorter one as well. Each example (retrofit into existing transportation spaghetti to solve congestion) begins outside the airport at a nexus with public transportation networks. (Ride city subway/train to an airport stop. Transfer to airport internal network.) The line features intermediate 2-4 stops that may service remote parking, cell phone lots, consolidated car rental facilities, and hotels. Then, they head into the terminal loop. Where possible, one station serves multiple terminals. (At LAX, the elevated air train line has absolutely wrecked sightlines to the famed LAX Theme Building--the one incorporated as a mid-century modern game asset.) The whole idea is to encourage people not to drive to the terminals, so an air train line may extend quite far from the airport itself (see, JFK). As the hotels in the DLC require shopping and offices, an air train would let you cluster several hotels _near_ the airport while still surrounding them with zoning they need. And, of course, the line could also serve any airport DLC hotels on the island. Given the land constraints on your island, I'd imagine Unnamed Egg International would be a good candidate for an Air Train where outside networks converged at a focal point on the mainland, freeing up space for terminal and taxiway expansion (and hotels) on the island. Remote (long-term, cheap) parking may be on the mainland, too. Daily (short-term) parking could remain on the island. Then you could have the pleasure of dreaming up TWO air train networks that served the airport. Airside air trains connect terminals post-security. Passengers needing to switch between distant concourses or to the terminal head house would use this network. These are often underground (Denver, Atlanta) but you can find monorail-style examples as well (Houston, Tampa, Orlando).
now that i'm looking more closely at it, what are the chances that cs2 will have airport roads as well? Ones where you can see the busses and luggage trucks driving around? And to what extent will airports function realistically as well?
Wow I’m finally caught up on the series and it’s bittersweet because now I get to contribute on the comments but I also have to wait for new episodes! Anyway, was good to see the airport. Just wondering if you could include some walkability from the elevated road down to the parking if people are walking up there?
Rule of thumb of airport building, never put a building i the axis of the runway ! Never put the runway towards the city either unless you want to recreate the old Hong Kong Kai Tak airport. As for monorails with strange layout for an airport, take Orly airport as an example, the OrlyVal people mover arrives at Terminals 123 station first and then, reverses towards Terminal 4 stations (one out and one in, impossible to do unless using single tracks here but at least you can do the cul de sac Term, 123 station). You don't need two stations that close to eachother, just put one station lobbed inside the U shape, cul de sac station and then one station in front of each of the two other terminals and draw one way track to the furtherst station first and then a return track to the cul de cas station via the intermediate station, bam you have an Olryval configuration pretty much. Fun fact, modded monorails in CS have Orlyval skins... So it fits. If anything the satellite terminal should be accessible ONLY via metro internal to the airport, an inside transit zone shuttle if you will. You can do that by stopping the city-airport line at the first station and then take a second line to the satellite terminal from the other track. As for the roads, the upper road (Departures) should always have a slipway to the down road (Arrivals) so the bus shuttles or taxis can deliver passengers who depart and then transition to the Arrival level to take people back to the city. Speaking of Orly airport, it was originally possible to access the roof terrace to see the planes. There also was a cinema and a theatre. The building was a masterpiece of modern architecture at the time and many people actually came to VISIT for fun on Sundays ! It was one of the most visited places in France at that point ! So you might as well put fenced quays around your airport because it could become a touristic destination in itself, it's not ridiculous, it happened IRL !
It's lame, but perhaps call the new airport the Orchard Bay Eggport or Orchard Eggport? I have to agree that you could include either ferry service, a marina, or the boat hotel into the enclosed airport harbor. Another possibility would be to build a second, smaller man-made island along side the airport island for that helicopter depots (i.e. fire, police, etc) and you could include the regular helicopter stops there too. I know New York has a similar service with helicopters ferrying travelers to and JFK from Manhattan and other regional airports. It would probably fit best along the longer runway to avoid blocking the views from the cafes on the other side. Otherwise I would say continue the airport fence around the whole island to make it more realistic. That way no one could wonder off the quays and on to the airport property. This build definitely made me remember the time I worked at a waterfront restaurant in Burlingame and we could watch planes landing at SFO during the day.
I think it's for easy access to other parts of the airport? Big airports like JFK and CDG have airtrains that take passengers from part of the airport to another. That's what it reminded me of at least. Airtrains usually operate on an independent line though.
@@OVERCHARGEDEGG actually, you said something about tickling a pickle...infrastructure pickle or network pickle. It was quite the metaphor. Whichever pickle, extraneous infrastructure makes you happy, so fair play for a game. In real life, one two-way monorail line would do the same job and leave land available for other uses. [On-site airport hotel?] A monorail stop at the parking lot would also make sense.
Add a fishing peir to the end start of the runway wich is something i saw on a few airports and plus it would be cool to see the planes fliying over the peir while landing
You should calculate the wind direction and the minimum radius of airside for designing the runway, taxiway, apron and the terminal. LOL, justkidding for the game but you should do it for the professional things. And about the double monorails which has a quite little distance, it’s not a necessary. you can marge it inton1 station and make the bridge crossing which divided into the both terminals side
I would put the metro station back in the main terminal area because if someone drove to the airport, but their flight was departing from the metro-only terminal, they’d have to drive to a subway station and then take it to the airport rather than parking at the airport and taking the metro right beside it to the other terminal.
Though I use my wheeled Osprey backpack, it may be a Difficult walk with standard luggage (with the street crossings) from car park. Monorail or subway stop? Love this build... and the happy takeoff right turn!!
A small suggestion Airports typically try to reduce the amount of trees they plant as it encourages more birds to nest in the area and for obvious reasons birds+airport=not good, so maybe change the birch and palm trees to shorter trees or preferably bushes for more realism.

Bit of a sharp turn after taking off!
Could make for some very nervy passengers!!
'Orchid Bay Pubic Airport'. No typo.
Those airport refueling vehicles would work great as decorations in an industrial area
Like the idea of the airport being called Beehive. Planes buzzing around the Orchids like bees
whats the reasoning behind the 3 monorail stations so close together by the airport?
I think it's for easy access to other parts of the airport? Big airports like JFK and CDG have airtrains that take passengers from part of the airport to another. That's what it reminded me of at least. Airtrains usually operate on an independent line though.
@@apachers2807 just seems like overkill, especially the middle one
I say in the episode, just for the symmetry design outside the terminal. I mention it's overkill
@@OVERCHARGEDEGG your city, your rules :)
Nice build EGG!!
Pathがモノレール駅で隆起する現象はなんなんでしょうね~
Such a cool airport, I thought of "Carrier Island" would be a cool name for the island, like an aircraft carrier
Come fly Orchid Sky's Airlines. You are guaranteed an EGGcellent time!
look like kai tak airport
Seems like that square water area should have a ferry line and maybe a space for cruise ships too.
I don’t remember seeing any buses go in. Maybe the mini bus could do a loop from the car parks to the terminals and back?
Perhaps a ferry in the little bay at the end of the concourse?
For names, Air'chid Island?
I would put the metro station back in the main terminal area because if someone drove to the airport, but their flight was departing from the metro-only terminal, they’d have to drive to a subway station and then take it to the airport rather than parking at the airport and taking the metro right beside it to the other terminal.
Though I use my wheeled Osprey backpack, it may be a Difficult walk with standard luggage (with the street crossings) from car park. Monorail or subway stop?
Love this build... and the happy takeoff right turn!!
