What an awesome build! Was secretly hoping for another tram/metro couplet but there probs wasn’t enough space for it anyway. Absolutely LOVE the downtown train! Happy new year all! 🎉
As usual, the master of infrastructure and you make it look so cool and it's so busy!!! I love all the transportation going across the water next to each other!! Once you build that area up, it's going to be so busy you will be mesmerized at how many people use it all!! Great build! 🤩Happy New Year!
great build! the 2 tile four lane road can be the old highway/main road that ran through the docks and into the village, and this road was eventually replaced by the highway close to it. It would be lovely to see the two cross each other and interact. the old european market asset next to the railway line was such a cool aesthetic! like the some parts of the old town were demolished to make way for the railway, but some parts still remain.
Amazing build again Egg, Rannoch is really coming together!!! I said this before but for integrating a campus into a downtown I think SCAD in Savannah GA is a really good place if inspiration for imagining that older buildings were bought out and renovated by the university to turn into campus buildings and are scattered throughout the downtown. I think it would be a really fun point of inspiration!
You've reminded me of my own university that was in a city where the central campus was rather small and there were a lot of buildings spread out through the surrounding area that had been bought out or donated to the university like the pharmacy school that was next to an existing hospital several blocks away. I was honestly getting a bit bored of doing dedicated campuses especially as many of the buildings have parking spaces so they look silly when on a pathway instead of a road. If only you could overlap campus and pedestrian districts.
Hey egg, i know this game doesnt get updates anymore, and even more especially the console ps4 version. But i hope you could somehow let the devs know that plaza and promenades dlc on ps4 is super bugged. The pedestrian only road doesnt allow pedestrians to enter it, only allow them to exit it if that makes sense. I've been looking up forums and can see that this problem has persisted since january 2024 at least. Thanks ❤ spent my own hard earned money on it
I just finished building on this map. I used this area as old downtown, which has not tall towers from skyscrapers pack plus i integrated port and nature reserve park as well and the other side of suspension bridge is where i built new downtown with tall skyscrapers and connected them with underground metro and ferries and also built a railway bridge just like here , Makes me feel so nostalgic!
agh my fav thing about this game is making road layouts. so happy it's that type of episode again hehe Also, would recommend turning off fog bc of youtube compression.
What I did in one city where I had a long straight stretch of highway between my downtown and a big tourist area was running the monorail track in the gap between the sides of the highway. It can be done on a curved highway as well but will be really tricky to align without use of Move It.
I can tell the downtown will be great from the frames you set out. My only change is the pedestrian stop for the tram. I think it should stop on the same road that connects with the subway hub. Like the airport line. Either way fantastic network episode! Happy New Year 🎆
I know a simple and nice little building trick I’d like to share with you! If you place two of the same elevated dual-island platform train stations (Train Stations CCP or Railroads of Japan CCP) back-to-back, you can get more capacity and at the same time have ”Allow Intercity Trains” only at one of them, and have the other as a section for local trains. I did this in one of my cities and it works really well! I feel like the current central station is too small. Big cities usually have A Lot of platforms, especially in big cities. This is due to the amounts of capacity needed, as many different train services will come together at these stations. I’d also extend the Airport Express train line all the way into downtown Rannoch. Keep all the existing stops on the line and i suggest to add one at the stadium transport hub on the way, as well.
I never seem to find a use for intra-city trains instead of metro and monorail, in most cities when I do run a train line it doesn't get used much unless it's the only line to that place and unlike metro there's no option for underground stations plus monorail can run directly above roads. I tend to use the rail lines on the few hub buildings that have train stations for intercity only so that people on those trains can switch to my local transit like metro and monorail. Maybe if I finally get to an 81 tiles build I've have more use for them in remote places where I need to run a cargo train anyway and it's not a heavily used track that they can share.
@ I simply use trains for longer lines and metro for shorter ones. I am building on the Desert Oasis Map (Sunset Harbor DLC) and there are some long valleys where i am planning to build suburbs and stuff. Already started with some of them, and extending the train line a little bit at a time as i build further into the valley.
That park space on top of the hill should have a lighthouse on the top and it could be the old light park. It makes sense on top of the hill as the lighthouse could reach a lot of the water in many directions as the line of sight has a good view of the waterways. The history of the lighthouse could be because of it's location it saved many lives at sea and the lighthouse still remains today in honour of the lighthouse service. 😊
Is Rannoch going to have an Old Town? I basically put it in everyone of my cities now. I use buildings like the clock tower, market street. Transit buildings like the old market street station. Use trans, European high density, and blend into downtown using Brooklyn and queens, then high density wall to wall, to transition from old brick to more modern architecture and finally that mural design. I think Rannoch should have an old town maybe on the outskirts of the downtown.
Opportunity for a park around the old lighthouse? I imagine the city reclaimed the old port when the new one was commissioned and they made the area into downtown park
Happy Xmas OE. Many thanks for the content, don't actually have the time or inclination to play but love to watch this content still! Can your new year's eve resolution be to no longer call areas of green space green belt? I work in town planning in the UK and Green Belt is a specific strategic spatial planning designation to prevent urban sprawl, not just an area of green space. Public Open Space, landscaped buffer, etc all better/accurate IMO! Keep up the good work, much appreciated!!
These always show up at midnight for me in New Zealand but I just can't wait until I wake up to watch them 😅 it's a 0130 bedtime for me then
Same for me man I’m watching this in the coromandel and I saw it pop up and was like damn
I’m in Sydney and can 100% relate 😅 I think you might have it worse though by about an hour?
Te Awamutu for me. Few of us which is awesome.
At least you can watch MartyT at a decent time.
Me too fellow kiwi
Always happy to see a Ranoch video upload. Such a great build and a pleasure to chill out and watch it come to life, 10/10.
This always makes for a good episode. Thrilled with the train lines along the bridge. That hill top is going to make an excellent view point.

I love a well planned city & burbs, Egg. Just like you do, for all of your cities.Happy New year to you, your family , friends & subs.

Really needed some CS1 on this Monday! Cheers, Egg.
Stunning as always. Always amazed at how naturally it all comes together.

Cities: Skylines 1 never gets dull. ;)
Excellent episode EGG! Happy New Year!
I always set my Egg-Timer on a Monday.
Hope you had a good christmas, all the best for the New Year to you and yours. :)
my prediction - the skyline is gonna look sick! :D Good stuff, Egg!
Would love to see an amusement park pier in the downtown or the land opposite to it

Amazing video as always!
Yessss EGG happy Christmas 🎄 and here is to a brilliant new year
Brilliant city as ever…. Even looking through the workshop and some YT videos, you ever done the one tile challenge?
Love these downtown prepisodes ❤
EGG, your the best mate. Thanks for everything. Have a great New Year. May God Bless everyone and bring Peace back to Mother Earth!
We’ve made it to the downtown project 🕺
ideally a down town station should be little larger with more than 2 platforms
Opportunity for a park around the old lighthouse? I imagine the city reclaimed the old port when the new one was commissioned and they made the area into downtown park
Omg we opened up on Kal square!!! So hyped
What MoD are you using for that insane zoom?
Kinda sad I missed the stream, although Ill probably end up watching the VOD in its entirety! 😆
I dunno I was expecting a grander central station
Hopefully with the towers in next week it'll seem grander!
What mods are you using on this one ?
What is the height minimum for paths over streets?
Hell yeah brother
Happy Xmas OE. Many thanks for the content, don't actually have the time or inclination to play but love to watch this content still!
