"These gardens used to be called Cougar Park, but we had to change it to keep them from gathering here and then roving through the surrounding wine bars"
I absolutely love the way you approach Cities Skylines with this slower paced more up close & personal building style. That truly brings these cities to life! Great series so far!
Yeeeeh! Trams have came! It actually gave me an idea. Quite a lot of metro systems around the world evolved from trams, that were so busy they got upgraded over time (but usually still some of the trams got preserved as trams). These metros usually feature sharp corners, short carriages (S-Bahn trains maybe?), run nex to streets and even grade-crossings, especially on less busy branches. Dunno, just an Idea that came to my mind when you said you want to have a tram-heavy transit network P.S.: You are spoiling us with this upload schedule
@@thargoff Yeah I wasn't sure whether he didn't mean he will just have a heavily used tram line (I can imagine that for non-nerds the name of DLR can be misleading. EDIT: By nerd I meant myself, not you 🙂
It's so nuts just how many networks and assets you have in these early episodes compared to when you were first making Noob Yolk. The vanilla game is so awesome now and your builds, as always, are inspiring.
A tip for the busses, you should try and make the routes serve more houses with stops every 2-3 blocks before they arrive at their target destination (eg. School/ Work.) By doing this you will increase the amount of people using the busses by making it more accessible.
The Church of the Cougar vs. The Church of the Deer, I would say. 🤣 What an amazing town centre and still also so funny. Love the mass transit aspect of it all and all the super detailing. It makes such a difference and the Plazas and Promenades DLC has become huge in a very short time. Maybe extend and bend the secondary tram line around the hills and towards the industrial area across the river?
Well clearly the Cougars are gonna be your sports team. :-) One of the things that makes you one of my fave builders is your use of "empty" space to let your areas breathe. Despite the very dense tram interchange there's enough park and park-ish areas that it still feels realistic. Well done! :-)
I could watch you constsruct transit hubs all day long. I love your ideas for them, they always work so well, and of course gorgeously detailed! I laughed out loud when you got distracted by the cougar...classic Egg! This city is making me get an itch to start a new city, something I haven't done in about 8 months, maybe 9? Could be time to wrap mine up and start looking for a new map. Wow. Can't believe you have me excited to start a new city! Well done, Egg, loving this series, can't wait to see where it goes! Very happy about all the new people too, welcome in and happy to see you all interacting with us in the livestream chats! Yay!! ❤❤❤❤❤❤🐈🐈🐈🐈🐈🐈
You never cease to amaze with you're creativity. Those off node "bus stops" to create a vanilla bus terminal before you get one! You are the Bob Ross of city skylines
Love the advice at 7:40 to create a node by drawing and deleting a road; didn't know you could do that! Love the curved cobblestone bus stop design from that!
Loving the episode so far! In those 1x4 spaces between tram road and regular road (32:45) some of the Green Cities markets might look cute and make the space feel more walkable
It's a great feeling when you see another episode of this series gets uploaded. I also started a city on this map but It kinda got messy as it grew, I kinda want to start all over again. You got me inspired lol
Bro, your videos has stepped up my cities game so much. Thank you so much! Also, your little theme with petty church differences is hilarious and very realistic haha.
Wow! What an impressive transit area! The placement of the City Hall reminds me of the Noveria transit hub. This is such a fantastic open space. The name of Orchid Bay is just perfect, too.
This is so much fun to play along with. I've got 1000+ hours playing this game over many years, and I still learn new things from creators like you. I stripped-down my workshop items to get 'close' to vanilla (I can't let go of a few QoL mods and visual stuff!), and I'm playing along as though you were my C:S tutor! I'm enjoying it and am learning as we go. Thank you, Egg!
That city center build is one of my top favorites I've seen so far! One thought I had was that moving the city hall back off the main road using a pedestrian road might give it a bit more depth as right now it's directly on the bus hub.
Loving the city.. looks great so far! Can’t wait to see it expand… also, not sure if anyone has made this comment but when you put in the residential at 35:39 you left an empty column just incase you didn’t notice
The history of "Cougar Park/The Hunting Grounds" has made this my new favorite CS series 😭 It's the little things bringing this city to life and make it so wonderfully personal lol. That cougar was just vibing, I love it.
'Carnivorous Deer' 🤣 Very nice transit hub and I think one of the largest early-game town center areas across the vanilla builds. The new timelapse music is very cool too. Really spoiling us with all the vanilla content this week 🤩
Hi, what if one of the churches was called church of archangel Michael (patron of policemen) and the other st. Florian church (patron of firefighters) to resemble their original uses
Great episode about town centre transport integration. I can never seem to get mine as compact and tidy as yours. Not to spoil the public transport vibe but I would like to see a car park area on the back side of city hall in the commercial zoning using the toll booth as entry. It seems realistic to cater for those persistent car users!
maybe consider the 1 tile separation trick from the main road for the city hall? some trees or hedges in front might be a cool aesthetic. also, is it possible to lower the elevated pathways a bit? they are currently dominating the area, and lowering them might make them sit in there better
44:45 Can't speak for this game, but irl depending on your geography small airports are more viable than trains. Coming from western small town Norway, among steep mountains and fjords you'd have an easier time plotting down an airport for small planes in a flat enough valley, rather than building out a network of railroad.
Detailing timelapses sound like a Rocky montage these days, which I love! Great content Egg, I don't mind longer videos, more to enjoy. Great build, I am very reliant on mods I will admit but your vanilla cities really make me think I should eschew them all and do something in vanilla myself. Thanks for your input into the community!
First! Looking forward to watching this ep. Edit: Thanks for including my suggestion!! Second edit: This series inspired me to start a new city, and I've taken on board the couplet idea from Biffalo Countea, Orchid Bay and the City of Evergreen (Nicolet Bay). Thanks for all the amazing content you've put out there. I watched some of your stuff even just from earlier last year, and it's clear to see how you've grown as a creator. As I've said countless times before, Love your work, Egg!
I cannot wait to see how busy this hub gets when the city is larger and bringing in tourists from the train station! The patience to get all the tasteful commercial in without FindIt is great! Those brick buildings at the opposite end to the Town Hall work so well!
I'm building along and i got a cougar in the park too! Haven't seen the deer yet, but a lone wolf keeps showing up. Thanks for the fun content, whenever I get in a slump i try to follow along and soon the slump is gone!
Hi Egg! Taxis will only wait at the stands if they have no customers to service. Each taxi depot can only spawn 25 taxis, so if you only have 1 or 2 taxi depots they will likely get so busy that they won't ever wait at the stands. I have 6 of them, least 150 taxis in my city of 40k and they're actually pretty effective
Just to let you know mr egg, i found out the other day when messing with p&p stuff that buses will use the pedestrian tram roads, so no need to segregate at least as far as routing is concerned for buses in the ped zones. unfortunately you can't put bus stops on the tram ped roads, but still useful the other thing i wanted to request was prompted by your note of making the city public transport heavy (kinda ties in with my other comment) - when making the tram/bus/metro/monorail systems, to have them synergise as you might see in real life, rather than as dictated by game mechanics. for example in noob yolk, the monorail is a straight a-b route and other than in the downtown and i think one stop near the original starting point, there's little integration with other modes of transport (as of the oil industry episode, which is where im up to). for semi urban/built up areas one would expect to see multiple routes if not modes of transport so that users of the system have a true "network" to optimise their travel, rather than only one route or mode. in the uk, tfl is probably the best example of this with tube and bus tightly integrated, with the overground rail complementing the whole mixed mode concept, along with all the local light rail systems
Wandered over here from FewCandy's channel--so glad I did! I do so enjoy the more laid-back approach. Yes, all cities should have lore. (Two Churches! :D ) I play modded, but no worries there. Hearing the reasoning behind build choices is delightful makes all sorts of sense, so I decided to play along (in replay).
perhaps the two churches are such bitter rivals that when one church started using its wads of cash donations from its congregation to become ingrained into the town government back in 1734, the other church did the same and the town ended up with a divided town council, each with their own pots of money and each half owning different plots of land in the town. one day the church of el pollo diablo decided "we're going to build a tram network". when the church of œuf écossais heard of this, they immediately formed their own plans to, you guessed it, build a tram network on the streets that they owned. and that is why the town ended up with two extremely useful, but completely independent, never touching or sharing tracks, tram networks loved by the citizens
Taxis are great to follow in C:S. They have an 8 hour shift and visit all over the city. The hard part is finding one, once they have all escaped from the depot. LOL.

Im really bothered by the trams who only travel in one direction xD. But i love the rest of the build :D. This really makes me excited to build something similar. Thank you very much for the amazing video :D.
I love the small Human-Chirpy plaza at the centre of the transit hub, and it's a shame that the pedestrian bridge covers it up. Perhaps a simpler skyramp crossing one intersection would suffice? Everything is impressively done as always.

Just wanted to say I love your videos. They really help me relax when I'm feeling stressed.
Glad you like them!

Love the city center bossman 🤘🏼🙏🏻
I’m loving this series so much, it’s giving me so much inspiration for my cities!
Man, I love these. You make me wanna install CS again after 6 years.
Do it!
@@OVERCHARGEDEGG Yeah I'm starting a new city with some QoL mods and a little bit of visual overhaul
Awww what a great time to be back of hols. 3 streams of new egg city. Loving the new build. What a great start much love egg ❤👍
Town center looks great! Love all the transit and derailing.
I know overuse can lead to "cheesing," but a pedestrian tunnel instead of a bridge would be absolutely normal for an area like this
Goodness just excellent, simply blooming excellent ❤️
Taxis are great to follow in C:S. They have an 8 hour shift and visit all over the city. The hard part is finding one, once they have all escaped from the depot. LOL.
New to the channel, but this is excellent. I loved the nighttime cinematic of the Library. Can’t wait to see what’s next!
I'm loving this build it's now up there with City Planners' Verde Beach and Biffa's Cities
What an honor!

Love your channel mate... keep up the great work.

Great start Egg, this may already be my favorite city of yours!
What a lovely build - very impressive road/tram layout. Maybe there could be a small pond at the beautiful area behind the city hall - keep up the great work 😊
I would say the Police church serves coffee and donuts instead of bread and wine.
Cougar Gardens has a nice ring to it! Great build mate
Looking great per normal 👌
I've had taxis 🚕 working in different cities, I've noticed many you-tubers don't put enough stands around city to encourage use.

Getting planes before trains is weird. But getting bikes at the same time as planes is even stranger! 😂

Will you upgrade the commercial area around the town hall to high density?
A European HD are would be great around the unique building and the park.
