For someone whose cities always end up looking janky as I progress and therefore losing motivation to continue the build, this series is incredibly satisfying to watch.
no but trust me when you start a new city and get so far and decide to look back at your previous projects, they'll look better with heinsight (I can't spell XD)
Same! It's given me a lot of inspiration and confidence to experiment, and know that I don't have to be a professional or download 1000 mods to make better and better cities.
For a lack of something to say, but a list to say something, I'll say it again: Overcharged Egg is quite definitely the most underrated creator on the platform that it TH-cam.
I think cities skylines builders in general and under appreciated in TH-cam. Be it OE, Biffa, Imperatur, twodollartwenty, city planner plays etc. All of them are incredibly skillful and imaginative. 👌 However, I enjoy OE the most due to his longer videos that I can chill out to throughout my breaks at work.
Well, I beg to differ with some names. They build very nice cities, often more nice then mine, but is all very similar; at least I think. I rather watch Captain_Ahvious, PugGaming or Jass. They make very nice and unique cities, with less subscribers. And I'm sure, there are a lot more.
You always shock me with these creative ideas, rather then a regular highway off ramp, you create something unique. Those condo's by the river remimd me of my home town
Orchid Bay really starting to come along now, can't wait to see where it leads! Every time I watch one of your videos my own building improves, the amount of helpful little tips and creative ideas you pack into each episode is unreal. Connecting parts of the city was always a struggle but your network planning works so well that I haven't had an issue in some time!
The only thing I would maybe change here would be the intercity bus station and metro station. Instead of using the two, I would add the intercity bus station with the metro station already incorporated (the one with two lines going in different directions). But the rest is stunning as usual. I can't wait to see the high density later in the series.
I actually loved this build, especially how transit orientated it it is and the consistent use of layers. I would embrace this further and remove the car pods along the waterfront, and instead decorate it with parks and green belt. We are beginning to get really close to the downtown build now ❤ I can’t wait
All those networks across the river/canal look SOOOOO good. Your talent with vanilla assets and tools is absolutely astounding! That offramp looks wicked as well! Great build!!
I am actually devouring your content, it's heart warming to see passionate people like you doing this wonderful and entertaining content. Keep up the good work, cheers !
Be cool to see some utility builds in this city. Like a medical center and police force with a prison build. Also small radio towers add to the height in some places. Really enjoy these videos!
What a stonker of an episode! Just love how it all ties in to one unified network theme, something I struggle a lot with in my cities. As always Egg you're an inspiration and build places I'd want to live in!
Hey man, love the build so far! Those bus stops you made along the new bus corridor would be perfect for Transit Oriented Development if you incorporated high density commercial into the detailing, which would give more reason for the Cims to use that route and increase ridership in your new district :) just food for thought, I think cities like Denver have kind of done a similar thing!
I'm sorry Egg, I'm usually onboard with whatever you do, however i just can't with all this parking on the waterfront in front of the condos. I get it in the back, on the side of the arterial, but the land in front of them would be too expensive and protected to put parking space on it. Parks, picnic spaces, greenbelt, producer market... Whatever except parking please :) Love this series this is my favourite of all time I believe
I'm in love with the city and this specific build. I enjoyed it a lot while having dinner after a long and complex day at work. And I'm absolutely looking forward to next build. Thanks Egg! ❤🎉
Amazing work, lots of beautiful stuff here. I wish we could zone or snap right off the quays like pedestrian districts, I think it would look so neat if those condos were right on the quay! Love the wall to wall assets, they look great.
I adore the little elementary/secondary school campus that you placed towards the end, with a fun asset as a complement and it being in proximity to the metro/train hub. I love that you develop the city based on transit options, and that every neighbourhood is connected to a destination; I wonder if there could be more overlap in the bus networks that you lay out, with lines that run through multiple destinations or ones that are dedicated to residential areas and schools? I also think the bicycle and pedestrain bridge with the waterfront exit is great, perhaps a similar exit on both sides of the river could add some foot traffic? One thing though, it is a shame that the condo waterfront is propped up by parking lots instead of fun businesses or parks, seems to me a waste of such prime real estate.
Love the new city, Egg, keep up the great work. I take so much inspiration from your vanilla builds because I play on PlayStation. The layering of your transport networks is amazing. thanks again and I can’t wait to see what you do next.
I must say that I'm really enjoying this build. The city is looking amazing, as I knew it would, with you building it. I could just sit and watch you do this all day long. Can't wait to see where it goes from here.
Very exciting to see something developing on the other side of the river and that tease from Mad Mountain's viewing deck was 😍I like the combo of car parks with roof around those condo's, quite nice to have the car sheltered and in walking distance. And the walkability is really amazing in this city, it's quite impressive that city's backbone is not a highway and actually has quite a few junctions too.
26:22 I felt that ❤️ C:S is truly amazing and it’s so nice to see how much joy the game brings to people. The city is really coming together and I’m sooo excited that we’re headed towards downtown now 😍
Love your approach to this new city and I really like your different waterfronts. Just one piece of feedback though… for a city so focussed on pedestrian activity is it the right message to place parking in prime real estate on the waterfront in front of expensive condos? Perhaps some plazas/park assets/garden space would be more appropriate?
I've been working through this series on my way to and from work on the bus, and it's equally exciting and devistating that i've caught up- I have to wait for more!!! As someone that can't drive for reasons beyond my control, I'm in love with anything that shows genuinely thought out public transport!!
Great Built, there is just one thing I suggest you. Look at all the roads that lead into the other side of the river, because the couplet has the toll booths but the other roads that the couplet is connected to dont. (i.e. the bridge near the castle, or the one closer to the mountain). Anyway, great built, I am enjoying very much this series!
Correct and as intended :) That other couplet road that becomes the suspension bridge is a much longer route through town direct from the highway. Only the fastest most direct route from the highway into the downtown by car is tolled :)
There are certainly a lot of us share the same enjoyment you do playing the game and creating like this. I always stop by your videos for inspiration and this episode you pretty much sold me the plazas and promenades DLC for the city i'm building atm. so thanks again for sharing what you do.
my favorite project so far, really loving it, can’t wait for the future episodes and see where it takes Orchid Bay! Just wanted to say how this is incredibly inspirational and helpful to all starting out on city skylines 🙏
I learned so many great tips from this series like creating suburbias and incredible easy but efficient intersections. Just wanted to thank you for that
Awesome as always. Love all your series but this one has got me hooked again, plus the added benefit of the console update tomorrow. Can't wait to follow along. Keep up the amazing content!!!
The one-way road you did with the highway part should really continue straight over the bus road too make it more natural & then add the ramps too the right of it in the direction it goes, makes more sense too get of the road on the right side as you’re playing with right side traffic! ☺️ Excellent build as always! 👏🏻
well to be honest i am stunned and i dont really know what to say, because there ist just one word i need to describe this city... amazing. keep up the good work
A green belt on that coastline would be nice and even better with some tourism-type of activities such as a great fishing pier and maybe sail boats. Fishing in CS is so unappreciated. Some great assets on the WS out there for “fishing for fun” buildings and props! Keep up the great vids, Egg. They’re great!
Aside from all the specific things I’m learning perhaps the biggest take away from the series is just the power and value of using the camera to get really close to street level and how that perspective enables thoughtful human-centric design (as opposed to the default god-like Birds Eye view).
Great stuff as usual. I've been building along with you during this series for learning an much more. Question: Looks like you added a content creator pack building to the river district from last episode, in-line with the Modern City Center high density commercial. Just wondering what it is; sorry my OCD kicked in there. 😄 32:15 of this video.
Have you ever been to Antwerp? They have an underground (under-river?) pedestrian tunnel to cross the Schelde, and parallel to it there is a metro line. I think something like this could work here. There's also a ferry station right by it, so I'd try to take some inspiration, as it's all very similar.
Excited to see where you continue with this build. i think for the coastline you could turn the one way system into a ring road. Like the one you built in Noob Yolk. I would only do it for some parts because otherwise it might be a bit too 'high density'.
Thank you so much for this wonderful series. I definitely enjoyed strolling round the city in the save game. Just beeing amazed. Do you when you will upload the next one?
Hey Egg, this is something else, your imagination is unbelievable, and this has turned out to be really, really, great. I can't wait til the next video this gives me such inspiration and I just wish I could be just a part as good as you. I have a question for you, and I am hoping that you have a answer for it. I have been trying to figure this game out and I keep getting stuck in this one predicament, and it happens at the same time in the game. I get my population up to 5k and then all of a sudden, the city starts to die out and I start to lose all my money and it really isn't a death wave it's just that the city starts to lose money and the health gets bad. I put several medical buildings up and have three cemetery and it just doesn't stop, the money is gone after about 10 mins and I can't figure out why, there is no pollution, no noise pollution, it just starts to die, and the money goes away. Is this a death wave or can it be something else? Can you address this in one of your videos and maybe explain what it could be? But thanks for answering in advance and I can't wait to see the next video!! I can't even remember where you started this city out it has grown so much..
Thank you mate. You are loosing money because the medical buildings are 400 a week each, that'll drain your income on the early game. Follow my series and you'll see how I managed the economy 😌

On the Bus express way, or whatever you want to call it, instead of using the pedestrian roads for stops, if you use the 4 lane (2 unit wide) bus roads it would either allow for an express bus route and intercity busses to bypass the stop or at least give the illusion of this concept.
Neat! All these Plazas&Promenades assets are hitting me right in the feelz. The remastered CS doesn't have P&P yet and I've grown too attached to them.
Dunno if it would be feasible on this map without terraforming a lot, but doing a barrier island, a la South Padre Island in Texas, could see a sand bar-style island just above sea level and have some tourism/night life while leaving the main land coast available for whatever else. Pretty big project/addition of land though.
Its amazing how you manage the skylines and builds, in spite of my efforts i can never do what you do. You will laugh but everytime i watch your tutorials i install cities and when a build only an interchange i uninstall it haha im a disaster haha. As always keep on making this you re great!
Love ur builds, but as a truck driver I would think the highway would have priority over the exit/on ramps. It is common to have exits on the left in inner-cities for the sake of see space if you'd prefer to keep.
No matter what you belive, I think we can all agree that it's always so fun to watch these vids🙃 Also you should name the river the red river, Named after khorne the BLOOD GOD
The cycling ramp at the end is a dream for a late night pub and bike tour - imagine going down full speed into the river by jumping of your bicycle - (if you can swim). Could be hilarious. :)
for the beach side what I imagine is a long stripe of sand...an infinite Bondi Beach with all sort of amenities all along it. you'll must work with the terra forming as a pro to make the slope as smooth as possible...
I'll continue to start every comment with, awesome build AS ALWAYS 😂. You nailed it on the head with losing inspiration as builds continue for some of us but this build was perfect. Idea for that little water front-not sure when the downtown is going to start but it might be cool to throw in maybe a big sports arena right on the water(football, baseball) not sure what vanilla assets there are. But with the major highway peppered back in and the possible train/metro bus all meeting up there could be a cool start as you enter the downtown.
So, not really related to the video but I just wanted input on this. The way I try to distinguish train lines and subway lines is sort of by setting them up like the elevator system in the World Trade Center. So like the trains are the express elevators, and the metros are like the local elevators. Long short, trains get you to general area, subway takes you closer, then tram/bus/whatever you want takes you the rest of the way. Edit: oh my god I never thought of making a part of the highway road being a pedestrian road to add a stop, that’s galaxy brain.
I'd possibly try like a waterfront Amusement park - kinda giving me a Luna Park/Coney island vibe. Also with the river/canal, maybe instate a ferry service down the track?
For someone whose cities always end up looking janky as I progress and therefore losing motivation to continue the build, this series is incredibly satisfying to watch.

You should use ccp pedestrian european / american bridges next time when crossing river , they look beautiful
The amount of walking and cycling is insane! 😅😉 The condos, water front and cottonwood lined street is a lovely area 🤌
Great build once again. You give us good motivation and inspiration
You have so many good idea keep up the great content

So, not really related to the video but I just wanted input on this.
The way I try to distinguish train lines and subway lines is sort of by setting them up like the elevator system in the World Trade Center. So like the trains are the express elevators, and the metros are like the local elevators.
Long short, trains get you to general area, subway takes you closer, then tram/bus/whatever you want takes you the rest of the way.
Edit: oh my god I never thought of making a part of the highway road being a pedestrian road to add a stop, that’s galaxy brain.
I love how you build! Vanilla is the best
another great vid, love it. its awesome seeing the vision come together. question, is this all vanilla LUTs and map themes?
26:21 a building is on fire in the distance
egg: ohhh I love this game!
xDDD
I am always amazed, if you can imagine your future builds so fast or there's a pre-planned drawing next to your monitor. :)
Great as always! Love the series
it could be cool to have two stadiums in the downtowns, to have a Orchid Bay's football (or any sports) derby
Based on the 2 churches!
@@jamesmeredith5551 yeah could be fire 🔥
I'd possibly try like a waterfront Amusement park - kinda giving me a Luna Park/Coney island vibe.
Also with the river/canal, maybe instate a ferry service down the track?
