I got burnt out on maintaining FDM printers and switch over to resin printing for several years. I saw the initial reviews for the P1P early last year and it reignited my interest in FDM. No regrets. It is the perfect addition to any shop or makers space if you want minimal hassle and rapid prototyping.
I can totally agree with you, over my 2 years of 3D printing, I have decided to sell everything 2 kobra neo's, an Ender S1 and a Saturn 4K, out and buy a Saturn 3 Ultra, and later buy a P1P, or if there's a new upgraded model
I love my P1P. It's a stripped down, no frills, super easy to maintain machine. I have a P1S as well for the occasional ABS/ASA print. If i were to add another printer, I'd go for another P1P as i mostly print PLA/PETG, and I'd prefer to stick with one type of replacement parts. The A1 is probably just fine for my needs as well, but im already in this lane, so I'll keep riding in it!
Why would you go backwards? The P1P was their first we still learning what we are doing printer. The A1 is cheaper and better and if you want to do abs the P1S is the way to go.
@@AlbertoMartinez765 - in what way is the A1 better? The touchscreen? It's a little bit cheaper, sure, but it's a bedslinger, so that brings its own drawbacks. The P1 series has received several updates that have kept it on par with BL's newer releases, so what makes the A1 superior? Like I said originally - I already have the P1 series printers. I'd rather stick with more of the same so that parts, maintenance, and performance are all equal across the board.
Active Flow Rate Compensation The A1 revolutionizes flow control in 3D printing. It utilizes a high-resolution, high-frequency eddy current sensor to measure the pressure in the nozzle. Our algorithm actively compensates the flow rate according to the readings to extrude with accuracy. This is better than all printers on the market. I expect a new X1 carbon printer soon with this technology. That said stick with your existing and dated P1 until the better printers come out.@@hamthomas4715
Getting another very expensive P1S machine for "occasional ABS/ASA print" seems a bit uneconomic. With all the mods and models available to enclose this machine it's odd why someone wouldn't use that, because it's the very definition of 3D printing: making stuff. From the original idea of "printers printing printers" we are now at: just buy another printer for several hundred bucks for one feature. Odd.
@@hassosigbjoernson5738 a) I said I'd get another P1P, not P1S... b) I run a printing business. I buy the tool I need for the job I need done, not a hobby machine that I have to spend time rep-rapping to save a few (hundred) bucks.
I had several FDM printers, cheap ones, expensive ones, fast ones and did a lot of tinkering. The P1P improved on all of them. It is the first printer I can use as a easy as buying stuff on amazon. I need something real quick, start the printer and without fail for 12 months, it provided my with everything I need. It changed 3D printing again for me. My actually printer is less reliable.
It's interesting to see you going back to their older printers and really seeing how they've refined things over time for their newer models. It will be interesting to see what this line of printers looks like after it's updated.
I bought the x-1 carbon just because of the display and the addition features. For beginners I would go with the A-1 and the A-1 mini. I believe the market for the P1P and the P1s is those that want or need a little better print quality and the ability to add more AMS to the unit. I think users that have more than one printer would be more likely to use this printer for printing PLA, the printers above this one would be used for those that require an enclosure. I’m looking at there printers for a person that has 6 bed slinger’s and the X-1 carbon. Because I hate doing maintenance on all of the bed slinger’s I’m dumping 5 of them and replacing all with just 1 A-1 with a AMS. Why that printer over the others I have the X-1 that I can add extra AMS too, I printer most models with 4 colors if you need more and you have it setup right on the slicer you can it pause the print and change colors in the AMS. It’s all about the Display screen after I have the prints setup I can walk over pick which toy (see the Model) I want to print change the colors. I’m printing toys for the children’s cancer center so I want to see which colors I change too and which models I will print this month. So if one of the big just would not buy it is the Display and the the A-1 are just a little more user friendly with the ease of changing the print head. However I would buy any of Bambu printers because they just work, they tell you what maintenance should be done to keep them up they are almost idiot proof.
I got my P1P before the p1s got announced, i'm happy enough with it, especially since i got an aftermarket enclosure kit (which basically turned it into a p1s)
*I Love my P1P and for the money It will pay for itself even when the repair costs get out of hand which could take years still. So far I have 8000 hours on my P1P and I have never needed to replace a part yet. I have it running 24/7*
Yup, agree. Skip the P1P and go straight to the P1S. Did that and have never regretted it and if you can afford it do add the AMS, it sure is a brilliant thing.
For a beginner who wants to "make stuff" in their free time it's a bad advice to invest like a thousand bucks just to be able to do that without knowing if this is going to become a hobby or not.
The P1P made more sense when it released when the only other Bambu Lab alternative was the X1C. Now that the A1 and P1S exist, it sits in an awkward middle ground where it lacks a lot of features but is also kind of pricey compared to the other models. I've had my P1P for about 9 months and I love it, but if I were in the market to buy one now, I probably would go for the P1S instead.
This, definitely. I have a P1P and bought it at release and it is excellent. I fully intend to add the P1S upgrade to it at some point, but it isn't a huge deal atm as I mainly do PLA/PETG.
I bought the P1S and later a single AMS so I can't speak to the P1P or the A1 series. After having owned and used the P1S for 7 months now all I can say is it's a nice feeling to create a design, send it to the printer and watch in total delight the first layer being laid down so well unlike my old ANet printer. . I have never had a print fail on the first layer. I attribute this to the fact that one should never ever touch the build plate with their fingers. The oils from your fingers can affect adhesion. Either use the printable scraper tool or take the build plate out and bend it to get the part to release. Oh, and used dish soap, a plastic scrub pad and hot water to clean it. Don't use chemicals, sprays or anything abrasive. And rinse it really, really well with hot water. I spent $1600 CDN on this puppy and I have zero regrets. I just wanted to be able to make parts for my projects without hassle and this puppy just delivers the goods in a quality I am more that happy with. 👍
I will buy again my P1P a hundred times, best money I've ever spent. In 6 months I've printed more than twice the amount of objects that I could do (with lots and lots of faff) with my my previous printers during 3 years. My take is that the P1P is made for the ones who have very basic needs and only print PLA, or can make happy other users that don't mind their homework: I've printed the Lite enclosure by CraftySven and added a better led strip, and I print ABS and Carbon fibre with no problems. Having been a Flashforge customer for long, I was suspicious at first, it seemed to much hype. Boy, I was wrong, the P1P allows me to prototype functional objects and check their dimensional accuracy and function, within a very short time: the machine warms up quick, can load/unload the filament very quick, the plate has great adhesion yet will release the objects in a few minutes as they cool down. So is the simple screen a real waste of time? Not at all, you're actually saving hours and hours of work with this printer.
I think you can navigate sdcard files with a preview for p1 series on bambu hambu or bambu slicer since the last firmware from 2 weeks ago. You also get the noise cancellation that appeared with A1 so bambu care about their older printers if they can push innovation via software updates 😊 If you struggle to choose between p1p and s if you aim to print pla only and get as much speed and quality possible p1p is better due to its coreXY open frame (pla prefer open case for cooling reasons) if not go for a S. And if want pla +petg or other filament you can print from an open printer but you need to print it slower A1 is really a perfect choice
I have a P1S with AMS and I like it. I wouldn't say it's completely idiot proof but it's been a reliable printer so far when used with good filament. General build quality, print quality and speed have been good. Compared to my old Ender 3 Pro it's about 3-4x the speed. It was amazingly well packaged. Prints are super crisp. The AMS is handy even for single colour prints, not having to mess around changing filament. Downsides would be crap camera and the way gcode has to go up to the cloud just to come back down to the printer. It would be nice if there were a kit to upgrade it fully to an X1 - better camera, mainboard & control panel. I wouldn't be surprised if someone like BigTreeTech produced something at some point, turning it into a pure Klipper device. I've also played around with Orca Slicer which is branched from Bambu Slicer which is branched from PrusaSlicer which is branched from Slic3r. I like the UI of Bambu Slicer & Orca. My biggest issue so far, which was a serious issue, is I put some old filament into it and the filament snapped just above the hotend. So it could neither be forced through or retracted and the AMS started sending errors to the printer. Because it's a direct drive, not bowden I had to disassemble the print head and replace the nozzle. I'm sure I can extract the filament from the old nozzle somehow but it really wasn't a fun issue to clear.
You can always change the settings to use your printer without the cloud. That's how I use my P1S. Just through my home network. I had a filament break in my AMS as well not so long ago. It's not that hard to disassemble the AMS, retrieve the broken piece, reassemble and get back to business. Sorta like a paper jam in a laser printer. Besides, a broken filament doesn't happen very often. The Bambu Lab Wiki has a ton of info to help as does TH-cam.
if you’re thinking you might eventually want AMS, and might eventually want to print other materials - then the P1S is a no brainer. At least for the UK you can’t buy the P1P with AMS combo. If you buy the P1P and then AMS separately its actually more expensive than the P1S combo right now, and you’ll sitll have a non-enclosed printer
I began with 3D printing 6 month ago and ordered a P1P because It was cheaper (in case I drop the hobby again) and to have easier maintenance/less afraid to break something. I never regret that decision because I only print PLA/TPU/PETG. However I'm waiting for a XL Bambu where I would buy the premium version this time Also ordered a GKTwo as printing figurines is really frustrating on FDM
Well i have had more print fails on the p1s core xy printer than any of my bed slinger's and to be a just printer type of person you still need to know how printers work and how to fix them because they will break down at some time its a nice idea that bambu has printers for everyone but the real fact is 3d printing will always be for makers and tinkers its a hobby not a coffee machine or microwave.
You must be doing something wrong if the P1S is having failed prints. I own a P1S and works like a champ. The only thing I did different was to create my own filament profiles so that the nozzle temp was higher than the predefined set ups in Bambu Studio. I print my PLA at 220C nozzle temp to make it more fluid and works great. Hope you can get as much out of your P1S as I have gotten from mine. And for what it's worth, all printers will need maintenance and I have done some on my P1S. I'd rather not spend an hour bed levelling and screwing with things just to print something. That's why I ditched my last printer. Screwing with a 3D printer is great if you like to tinker but for my needs, I just wanted a printer to do what is claimed to be. A printer. My P1S has not let me down.
Second reply. You wrote "the real fact is 3d printing will always be for makers and tinkers its a hobby not a coffee machine or microwave". I wonder if you'd say the same thing if your other electronics needed constant tinkering? Why should a 3D printer not be the same and as simple to use as a paper printer? I will become that in time whether you believe so or not.
@@satanicmonkey666 What yes they do 20 thousand dollar printers used for instustrial use are been endless tinkering with what is wrong with you people stop believing in youtube content these's people make money off of this
I agree, I got the p1p almost a year ago, it's a great printer, but if the P1S had been out at the time I would have gone with that. I fully enclosed mine and did all the upgrades, cost more than $100 and doesn't look nearly as clean
just got the p1s recently to replace my heavily modified ender 3 abortion. turns out you cant have enough printers.. they are now running both at the same time ...
With the current lineup, P1P basically turns into the farm work horse. You don't need/want the enclosure, you just need a core-xy that works consistently.
I ended up buying a P1S - mostly wanted the enclosure because it lives in a garage, otherwise I'd get the P1P. I think they're the perfect FDM wargaming printer.
I think the P1S is the better buy because of the upgrades they made to it that you'd otherwise have to buy to update the p1p. I just wish they'd let you put the a1 screen on the p1s/p1p haha.
The reference sounds like Snake in Metal Gear Solid to me. 😁 As for this printer, it does seem to be in a strange place now. Maybe if it was cheaper it would be more compelling. The A1 is on my "buy to replace the most worn out unit" list. The P1S is maybe nice to have, my only ABS printer is an upgraded cheapie in a custom box. I've got 5 FDM's (hardly a farm, more of an allotment) and 3 resin printers. I'm slowly earning my way to replacing all those cheapies with good-quality printers.
The point is in the very definition of DIY or 3D printing: the fun with making stuff. The P1P marks the barebone from which you can develop any further. And since people with 3D printers have fun in making stuff and having DIY projects, it was and is the perfect route to go. The P1P can something the A1 can't: it's very easy to get enclosed.
Been looking very closely to all current printers in this category - was very close to buying the QIDI Q1 pro, but after watching your reviews have ordered a P1S. Looking forward to trouble free setup and good quality prints. Thanks for the reviews - Oh by the way - try breathing sometimes ! 😂😂
I am shopping for my first 3D printer. I want something I can upgrade to handle carbon fiber. My prints will need to survive significant force. Which bambu should I get? I do not need muti-filament. Can go up to a P1S but it would stretch the limit of my allotted budget
target audience for a barebones printer like this are print farms in the 10-50 printer range. lower cost per unit, better access, easier to mod are big factors. I have currently 18x Ender 5S1 running and looking for replacements / updates.
The discount on the fillament is good, it would be even better if thay had more than 3 colours available at any time, I gave up ordering bambu fillament about a month after getting my P1P
Nice video. I’d reached the same conclusion when I decided the P1P would be fine for my needs but I’d like the AMS - and that’s when I discovered that at current pricing, the P1P plus the AMS costs exactly the same as the P1S combo. Guess which one I’m ordering… I actually laughed when I saw you fitting the orange brackets into your modplates - I thought “now it looks like a Prusa” and you said the same thing just after :) Seriously though; I’d really like to make a modplate (for appearance and functionality) but now I’m forced to buy the P1S (first-world problems…) - is it possible to unscrew one of the P1S side panels and replace it with a P1P modplate? I expect the chassis is the same, but I wondered about the screw holes and corners. Thanks
Borg Cube. _'Nuff said._ Haha - I jest, but I feel like, as you pointed out, the P variant allows for a few bucks back in your pocket for those that intend to mod the thing out of the box. A neat idea, like buying a car without wheels, because you have alloys in mind on day 1. Thanks for the excellent review, and comparisons to the other BambuLabs offerings! I look forward to replacing my Ender clone with one of these.
You're dead on. As someone with a P1S with AMS and an A1 with AMS, what little room the introduction of the P1S left for the P1P to exist, the A1 nuked from orbit. If coreXY matters to you enough that you can't deal with the A1, then you gut it out and save up $100. If you aren't anti-bedslinger, then the A1 is so much better with AMS than the more-expensive P1P, both in technology and capability, there's just no contest. Look for Bambu to deprecate the P1P from the product line unceremoniously about the time they release their next offering.
@@TheCybercrash my wife uses the A1's primarily and I use the P1S and P1P. Since I do minimal color work and she does almost exclusively multicolor, it's hard to compare the two. I can tell you the A1/Mini requires more maintenance.
Keep in mind that the P1P pre-date both the P1S and the A1. It's not exactly comparing apples to apples. Being new to the 3D printing scene, prior to other options , the P1P was my entry-point and was completely blown away. 9 months later, its still kicking ass and chewing bubble gum.
I have both an X1C and a P1P. I really like the open frame of the P1P for printing great quality PLA prints. I also loved the idea of being able to customize it and add to it if I wanted to in the future. However, the $100 price difference between the P1S and the P1P is pretty hard to beat, especially when the P1P enclosure kit is, on sale, $150. I could see Bambu phase out the P1P in favor of the P1S, with the A1 taking the lower price point spot the P1P used to fill.
Hi great videos just a question all prices are in US dollars now as a potential owner what sort of customs fees are incurred when purchasing the printer and the filament thanks
With the current Bambu sale, I'm trying to decide between the A1 and P1P. I've had Anet and Ender 3 in the past, but like you said, I just want to print. I would like to get a core xy printer, but I prefer the nozzle swap on the A1 over the screws for the P1P. Hopefully I won't have to remove a nozzle too often. It also sounds like the A1 has more software features to remove typical print failures than the P1P. I'm sure a P2P is around the corner, and it would be nice if Bambu had an upgrade kit like Prusa does. I'll check out a few more videos, but I'll probably go with the A1.
I love my x1c. Got a flashforge 5m 2 weeks ago as a secondary because it seemed pretty good. And it was until it wasnt. Last saturday i was doin a 10 hour print and woke up to the printer face down on the ground off the table... screen completley broken. Im guessing it vibrated off the table? Never ever had an issue like this. Now i cant level my bed or do many other things. Tried to find a new screen and well they only offer one for the 5m pro so i spoke to the amazon seller and they are willing to accept the return. Time to get the p1p😂 bambu labs literally just works. Got the x1c over a year now and only failed prints where my fault or the model itself.
I ordered the A1 but because of the cable issue it has been removed from the shop and my order got cancelled. I contacted support and they said that it will take about 3 months for the printer to be back in stock which is too long for me because I would like it to be here before March. I was wondering if you suggest me to buy the P1P which is more expensive, a cheaper alternative like the AnkerMake M5C, Flashforge M5 or just wait the 3 months for the A1 to be back in stock?
I;d probably suggest the P1P over the A1 anyway as it;s a more stable machine. and you have a great upgrade path with it to the P1S enclosure kit and the AMS units. Otherwise, I;d wait the 3 months. I jut got an email. mine has to go back too.
@@FauxHammer Thanks for the quick reply! And in my opinion this email from them shows that they actually care about their customers and do something about the problems so I'll stick with them but I am still going to think about if it's better for me to wait or just spend a bit over my budget to get the printer faster as I can see their printing quality and speed is almost the same.
I started my FDM adventure with the monoprice maker select and it is just a clone of the wanhao i3 then on to various ender 3 versions and a couple qidi and flashforge printers. I bought the p1p when the p1s was not an option. If i had to do it again I would have bought the x1c even though it was outside of my price range as a hobbiest.
I think when the full size A1 was introduced it really removed the market slot for the P1P. I would either get the A1 or the P1S as indicated in the summary at the end of the video.
No, not with these walls. These aren’t fully enclosed but there are full enclosure kits out there. But the one I’ve seen where you need screws and Perspex panels for doors and sides. Cost as much as the P1S upgrade kit fir those extra bits
Shit, I’m over here rocking a Voxelab Aquila S2 and loving it. Love how he tells you not to buy it and pushes you to the higher end Carbon while having affiliate link for ALL Bambu products.
I love how you heard only what you wanted to hear to dis the video. I said pick what is right for you and if you are like me and want what I want. I highly doubt we are the same type of printer user and I did as much as I could to advise you that this video probably isn’t for you. Thanks for the view and comment anyway
@@FauxHammer and your clickbait title literally has “don’t waste your money” in bold text. Sounds very open minded and “pick what’s best for you” to me
I'm a bit torn on this. I will likely never print with anything other than PLA or PETG, so I don't need an enclosure. As much as I'd love to have a core XY printer for the slightly less space it takes up, I'm still leaning towards the A1 once the recall is handled.
Just saw a video on the Big tree Tech Panda Screen for use with the P1, P1S and X-1 Carbon. This is a game changer it’s geared for the single user and those that run a print farm for the P1 and the P1S. I believe that for print farm users it is a game changer for then especially when they are printing a single item on there print farm, by allowing you to send the print job too multiple printer. You have a master printer and a slave printers, the master is used to send the print job to the other printers. The A1 and A1 mini is geared for the new user, the P1 the P1S is more geared for an advance users that requires just a little more consistent prints over time. Both those prints are a stripped down version of the X-1 great for print farms just not for beginners.
I think im going with the P1P and upgrade it to the same functionality of the P1S later on when I feel like it. I don't have quite the space for the A1, and I like that this is the next cheapest model that has upgradability in mind.
Im hoping to save up and get one (or more) of these to replace my current printers, the thing thats killing 3D printing for me is I have a lot of printers, but theyve all started acting up and now its just a constant string of problems, everything from thermisters not working to under extrusion. The constant issues have all but stopped me printing with all but 1 of my machines which now only prints a handful of things
I have been tinkering with an Ender 3 Pro for three years and the last two years have been staring at a stalled out Voron v2.4 build. The P1P is literally meant for folks like me who want to print more than they have to tinker with the printer to keep it online. The X1 Carbon is the wrong pricepoint for me but ~$600 to print ASA and Nylon in an enclosed CoreXY reliably makes a LOT of sense to me. The ASA is not as interesting to me as getting an ERCF configured to work with the P1P is to me and that will keep my tinkerer heart busy while printing functional things along the way.
I'm wavering between a P1P or an A1. I will only print in PLA. The A1 has Active Flow Rate Compensation and easy nozzle changes, but the P1P does not. What do you think?
Thanks for the great review, I think the 1990's retro UI killed it for me. I think the FlashForge Adventurer 5m Pro is a much better option for faff-free printing.
I had considered a p1p as the a1 mini was toooooo weeny and the X1 is mooochos expensieeevo for a lesser mortal with two kids but unless it massively decreases £ I think I will pick up the A1 instead (after a number of over times, and not going out ect)
I have a P1P and when it runs it does an incredible fast job. However; when it doesn't work Bambu email support takes WAY too long. My unit will not allow me to send direct to the printer sometimes and other times are okay. The latest problem is killing me as the Phone app which controls is now can't find it regardless of what I do. I need to change filament and I cannot because the stupid app says it is idle. I have pressed every icon every page and nothing works. Because support is only by email I now have to wait a day or two to hopefully get it working again. I will never buy another Bambu printer until they get a lot better support. Currently all I can do is set here and cuss the hell out of it!
The P1P will be my very first 3D printer. The P1P retails here in Aust for around $1,050 but the X1 jumps up to $2,100. So... I'm busting to know what's the difference between P1P and P1S ? Is it simply a fully enclosed case for an extra $260 no thanks. My computer has an open frame case so bring it on with my 3D printer, I'm good.
Bought a P1P not long ago after owning two self assembled (and programmed) printers. The P1P was a great purchase. It was ready to print after an hour, the printing speed (compared to the two previous printers) is very good and the print quality is well above what I have experienced so far. Excellent purchase
I own the P1S and have had it for about 10 days. I am frustrated with this printer. I wanted a plug and play rig, no fuss no muss and this printer was basically advertised as such. Well it isn’t. Nozzle changes are a pain to do. The user interface in studio and then one on the printer are total crap. The camera is a joke at .5fps which doesn’t allow real time monitoring. Just about everything advertised about this printer is total crap.
Ok, this is genuinely interesting. How are you going about nozzle changes? it;s only 2 screws and pop one off, pop another on. I hear you with the slow framerate of realtime monitoring, but are you still able to check for defects like stringing or other fails at this framerate? What do you dislike about the interfaces? I'm curious, have you tried many other 3D printers? becasue if this one is bad, please don;t touch any others. You will want to smash them
@@FauxHammer I hear you but sorry because Nozzle change require more than just removing 2 screws. At .5fps frame rate the camera is virtually useless for anything other than letting you know that the printer is engulfed in flames. P1S is heavily advertised as “it just works” plug and play etc. That just isn’t true. After much wasted filament and research I’ve managed to get a few decent print out inspite of the software interface and hardware getting in its own way. When applying text in the software it jumbles and stacks the text in weird and unpredictable ways unless the surface you’re placing it on is smooth and unfaceted. AMS input controls are finicky and don’t always work like they are supposed to in the software and for unknowns reasons forgets the setting it was put to. Privacy is a complete joke with this printer. If you “sort of” opt out you loose functionality that you paid for. I could go on and on but there’s no point. Those that are in love with this thing seem to think these issues and many other problems with it are acceptable because it’s not quite as bad as other printers and it’s just a right of passage. For a $1,000 (P1S combo) 3D printer all this plug and play garbage is false advertising or at least misleading advertising.
I only print pla and petg, I have 3 p1ps and 1 A1. For me, they make sense as I don't need an enclosure and only 1 Ams for the p1ps. The price tag is better too 🤣
The X1C is so much better than both the P1P and the P1S and its not that expensive really. I know not everyone has 1k to drop on a printer but my advise always is if you cant afford that now then the P1S is the second best. The P1P is not worth buying these days.

That benchy look aweful... i print one on my Ender 3 KE before i calibrate some things that where wronf and the result was better by far! and is a printer that cost 1/3 or 1/4 the price of the bamboo
I actually think the P1P is completely pointless specially if you want the AMS because Bambu sell the P1S with AMS about £20 more than the P1P with AMS so your buying a printer without enclosure for nearly the same price. If it was a 200 Bucks cheaper than yeah they would sell loads of them and everyone Would build there own walls

The A1 revolutionizes flow control in 3D printing.
Sounds like clickbait but i assume its going to be "Don't buy a P1P buy a P1S instead"
Me and You Both.
Me too. TH-cam today it's all about click bait.
That makes us all Fish?
This review is about 3 to 4 months late. But, I enjoy the approach.
Absolute braindead video
Just ordered the A1 based on your review even thought I wanted the P1s. Really couldn’t justify the extra £300+ for the work I do on it
I got my P1P before the p1s got announced, i'm happy enough with it, especially since i got an aftermarket enclosure kit (which basically turned it into a p1s)
*I Love my P1P and for the money It will pay for itself even when the repair costs get out of hand which could take years still. So far I have 8000 hours on my P1P and I have never needed to replace a part yet. I have it running 24/7*
Wow! Well done!
350 bucks difference is kinda a lot for something that you might not need to begin with. You can always get the upgrade kit later
Yes exactly. I've had mine for around 8 months now and its fantastic, but I would get a P1S or even an X1C knowing what I know now.
p1s is a no brainer call, not paying much more than a p1p and actually can upgrade it to an almost X1C with a small amount of money.
I bought a p1p when it released and now I upgraded litteraly everything to the point that I could also just buy a x1c
You also get the noise cancellation that appeared with A1 so bambu care about their older printers if they can push innovation via software updates 😊
If you struggle to choose between p1p and s if you aim to print pla only and get as much speed and quality possible p1p is better due to its coreXY open frame (pla prefer open case for cooling reasons) if not go for a S.
However I'm waiting for a XL Bambu where I would buy the premium version this time
Also ordered a GKTwo as printing figurines is really frustrating on FDM
Pro grade 3d printers do not require endless tinkering. Just occasional part replacement. F170 for example.
I fully enclosed mine and did all the upgrades, cost more than $100 and doesn't look nearly as clean
just got the p1s recently to replace my heavily modified ender 3 abortion.
turns out you cant have enough printers.. they are now running both at the same time
...
Love my P1S with AMS. Punches way above its price point.
Looking forward to the P1S review. Keep up the good work
I got the p1p second hand from Craigslist for 350 , it was still in the box, for me that was a nobrainer, I like the corexy setup
fo sho fo sho my bro
Saw one on Marketplace for $250. Hoping he responds and its not already scooped!
I have the P1P and im not disappointed! Its GREAT!! No regrets whatsoever.
JUST ORDERED A P1S thinking of ordering an a1 maybe in the future.
I think the P1S is the better buy because of the upgrades they made to it that you'd otherwise have to buy to update the p1p. I just wish they'd let you put the a1 screen on the p1s/p1p haha.
The reference sounds like Snake in Metal Gear Solid to me. 😁
As for this printer, it does seem to be in a strange place now.
Hanging out for the next video,.I'm trying to toss up between the A1 and the P1S now
The point is in the very definition of DIY or 3D printing: the fun with making stuff.
Get a P1P and print your own enclosure like I did, you wont be disappointed I love my P1P. I start it check the first layer and let it get on with it.
I have both the P1P and the A1. Both great printers. Im actually printing an enclosure for my P1P right now.
target audience for a barebones printer like this are print farms in the 10-50 printer range.
lower cost per unit, better access, easier to mod are big factors.
Guess which one I’m ordering…
I actually laughed when I saw you fitting the orange brackets into your modplates - I thought “now it looks like a Prusa” and you said the same thing just after :)
Seriously though; I’d really like to make a modplate (for appearance and functionality) but now I’m forced to buy the P1S (first-world problems…) - is it possible to unscrew one of the P1S side panels and replace it with a P1P modplate? I expect the chassis is the same, but I wondered about the screw holes and corners. Thanks
Borg Cube.
_'Nuff said._
Haha - I jest, but I feel like, as you pointed out, the P variant allows for a few bucks back in your pocket for those that intend to mod the thing out of the box.
Do you find the "Flow Dynamics" calibration of the A1 to make a difference between the P1P / P1S and the A1?
@@TheCybercrash my wife uses the A1's primarily and I use the P1S and P1P. Since I do minimal color work and she does almost exclusively multicolor, it's hard to compare the two. I can tell you the A1/Mini requires more maintenance.
I’d love a video with help on support settings for this printer or p1s… it’s the biggest problem I’ve had so far
4:08 Sending prints to a printer without an SD Card does not technically (or obviously, as you say) require an online account.
Recommend it to someone who is looking for a printer relatively cheap (for bambu), but good speed, and a fairly good sized print bed.
Well, to be fair, it looks like an X1C with the panels taken off because it *is* basically a stripped down X1C :)
@@jurgisgaldikas3343 great approach, and yeah they have nailed it, they have communicated regularly and well.
I started my FDM adventure with the monoprice maker select and it is just a clone of the wanhao i3 then on to various ender 3 versions and a couple qidi and flashforge printers. I bought the p1p when the p1s was not an option. If i had to do it again I would have bought the x1c even though it was outside of my price range as a hobbiest.
id love to hear your opinion on qidi XPlus3 vs P1S
I think when the full size A1 was introduced it really removed the market slot for the P1P. I would either get the A1 or the P1S as indicated in the summary at the end of the video.
A few comments in regards to comparison to a X1 would have been nice.
Question: Now that you have printed the outer walls are they enough to make it a closed printer for harder materials?
No, not with these walls. These aren’t fully enclosed but there are full enclosure kits out there.
But the one I’ve seen where you need screws and Perspex panels for doors and sides. Cost as much as the P1S upgrade kit fir those extra bits
You can use plywood, acrylic sheet or cardboard from packaging if in a hurry ;)
Thanks for this review. I was ready to buy a p1p just cause i assumed the cheaper A1 was worse.
No problem! Yeah in some ways the A1 is better
What shall I buy
Sounds very open minded and “pick what’s best for you” to me
Does it give better print quality at highest level than A1? I am into miniatures so quality is most important for me
No it doesn’t. you won’t see much of a difference when printing minis in fdm.
Solid approach.
Exactly the point I’m making with this. And the more people get on board with these. The more issues get solutions…
What did you decide on?
@@Orion_007x X1 Carbon. It works well.
@@words13100”that escalated rapidly” :)
I was also wondering when that flow compensation feature of the A1 might appear on the others
The P1P is a work horse. It works very well in print farms and business/education settings.
I bet the twist is: "don't waste your money on other printers, buy a P1P"
😂
Great review, thanks.
I have a bambu lab p1s, but i took the casing off and the aux to turn it into a p1p
i'm curious, why? i eman, why not just get the P1P?
What's the model with the round hygrometer ?
I mostly print PETG, and the P1P is perfect imo.
I can get a lightly used P1P for $400. At that price, should I go with that or get a p1s?
I don’t know the difference. Do you need the P1S? Do you plan to need an enclosed unit? If not. Yeah. Save the money
Thanks for the great review, I think the 1990's retro UI killed it for me. I think the FlashForge Adventurer 5m Pro is a much better option for faff-free printing.
Oh really? Good luck with their software, but if you’re happy with it, go for it
do you need an account to be able to use wifi??
There have been reports of printed enclosures, even the official ones, affecting warranty claims as it doesnt allow for mainboard cooling
I actually just ordered a p1s because I wanted one that was already enclosed, I did want the AMS system but it was sold out of that model
Luv the p1p
Can we Print TPU & PLA with AMS at the same time ?
No tpu is not compatible with ams or ams is not compatible with tpu
I’m going to order the P1S
Nice!!
Good solid review…
Does each one have a different name?
Each what?
Bought a P1P not long ago after owning two self assembled (and programmed) printers. The P1P was a great purchase. It was ready to print after an hour, the printing speed (compared to the two previous printers) is very good and the print quality is well above what I have experienced so far. Excellent purchase
Nah the fbi are watching us bcuz while watching this video I got a Bambu lab ad
@@DennieSparkmancan you elaborate on the nozzle changing
going through your links now thanks
I only print pla and petg, I have 3 p1ps and 1 A1. For me, they make sense as I don't need an enclosure and only 1 Ams for the p1ps. The price tag is better too 🤣
The X1C is so much better than both the P1P and the P1S and its not that expensive really. I know not everyone has 1k to drop on a printer but my advise always is if you cant afford that now then the P1S is the second best. The P1P is not worth buying these days.
I feel like you can’t really compare it to the A1 series because it is an older printer that the A1
Have you seen my video comparing this to the A1 and X1?
@FauxHammer No I can’t say I have
"Don't Waste Your Money" was a little harsh.
dude i know how it feels to tinker with a printer 1 hr for a 3o mi print it is so anoying to try to fix it and i am not the only one it os a ender3 v3 se
13:20 I was kind of thinking those colors looked all too familiar SuperVinlin
Oh well, not like it changes anything about the printer, itself ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Thumbs up, purely for the Metal Gear Reference.
Metal Gear?!
@@FauxHammer LIQUID?!
Thanks!
Escape from New York?
That benchy look aweful... i print one on my Ender 3 KE before i calibrate some things that where wronf and the result was better by far! and is a printer that cost 1/3 or 1/4 the price of the bamboo
I actually think the P1P is completely pointless specially if you want the AMS because Bambu sell the P1S with AMS about £20 more than the P1P with AMS so your buying a printer without enclosure for nearly the same price. If it was a 200 Bucks cheaper than yeah they would sell loads of them and everyone Would build there own walls
Its a shame the A1 catches fire.
Buy a flashforge AD5M instead and get the same speed and quality for cheap.
And the same usability experience? Because that’s what’s selling these more than them…
A1 = crap built cheap
P1p = reliable corexy machine
