I received my A1 yesterday, and it makes horrible noise from the X-Axis. Almost like a broken bearing. Bambu support just adviced me it is completely normal: “What you are hearing are the bearings inside the MGN block of the linear rail. The bearings have a certain preload which makes them more precise, but slightly louder compared to other bearings. Please note though that this is normal it expected.” I don’t have this issue on my A1 mini, have you had these issues on your A1?
@@Mr.X3D post a video of its noise on a Bambi Facebook group and ask people to respond with videos of theirs. Use that as a comparison and as evidence to show Bambi support - you’re also then doing it publically in one of their groups.
I have to say that I thoroughly enjoyed the video and learned a lot about the machine itself. I have already decided to purchase this machine, and I completely relate to your feeling tired all the time! I just want it to work I don’t want to fiddle with Settings and tweaking things just to get a nice good print. I already have a CO2 laser for that kind of stuff.
In fairness to Bambu they called the earlier model the A1 mini which implied there would be an A1 non-mini since there was no such thing as an A1 in their lineup before the mini. It only took me a tiny bit of research to find that they were indeed going to release a full sized A1 and to wait for it.
Bambu ran into bad optics like this in the past. They had a sale on the P1P that got a lot of people to pull the trigger then announced the P1S shortly afterward when those ordering the P1P paid for the upgrades to basically make it a P1S minus a few things. I think the issue with the A1/Mini is that they came out with the mini first, instead of the full size. Based on the timeline it seems like they could have easily avoided this issue by either announcing the A1 was coming soon when they released the Mini, or by simply releasing them both at the same time.
@@PiotrDega The product pipeline means they could have easily announced these at the same time to clarify the fact instead of doing it this way and making them look bad.
I just bought one, and it is awesome. I don't have the time to spend hours tinkering, I want to make stuff. This is exactly what I needed.. very happy 🙂
I bought one and have had no end of problems, 3 days and not a single print I can use, Bambu will do everything they can to avoid replacing them, If you have a problem it is no different from any other 3d printer, you are expected to fix it or work around the problem.
@@civy9962 it took longer to get my A1 up and running dicking around with their dogshit eco system than it did to BUILD a F'ing Tronxy X5SA. Mandated account creation to use your printer is just wrong, their apps are complete crap too
From a seven year 3d printer who started with a Flashforge, then Enders, then Prusas, your review is spot on. I don't want my hobby to be the printer. And I've ditched all of my printers for Bambus.
Dude, this. I've built the majority of printers I've had, and have even designed my own from scratch with all the bells and whistles. And you know what? I love the Bambu printers because I can focus on design and not on constantly fiddling with a printer. Ha. I got into a semi-argument with a fella over it, because he argued against things like the bambu, when trying to recommend a printer to a new user. But you can buy the cheap one and upgrade it and have control over every aspect! And it was just like yeah, but what if the user doesn't want to have to do any of that and just wants to design?!
This. I had an OG makerbot and it was amazing for the first month, then I kept re-learning the lesson that everyone makes printers that you spend too much time fixing. I basically stopped trying to 3d printing things years ago as I got sick of the fiddling. In my 20s I would be happy to geek out on this stuff, but now I can find better use for my time. Thanks Bambu.
I'm also in the process of getting rid of my FDM printers in favour of Bambu printers. I much prefer to print stuff than to try and fix printers. I'm not a 'tinkerer' I'm a maker.
@@HarveyVarietyHour Once you master the building and tinkering, you tire of it, and just want to do the thing the thing was supposed to thing. That's what I thing anyways.
Bambu printers are currently a good option but the Bambu founder idolizes Apple and puts patents on everything. We will have to see how things pan out but I'm guessing that in the long run Bambu will follow the Apple playbook: proprietary patents, lack of spare parts, and making people replace their "old printers" every few years.
I was tempted by the Mini, but i knew the small build plate would just tick me off eventually. This hits the sweet spot. Now im definitely glad I talked myself out of going for the Mini.👍 I'm a mechanic and never really got going with 3d printing because there was always something to fix or adjust....I really have no patience for that after fixing and adjusting stuff at work all day. I just need it to work. Oh and my safety word is "NO"😂
Listening about user vs tinker, and you hit the nail on the head!! I have been doing this with the resin printers since 2018, and when I needed to do working on the machine, talking with enthusiasts made me feel absolutely dumb, I hated to work with calibrating and replacing screens and such. Reading that tinkering commentary turned me off Filament printers for a long while. I just wanna print something to do a project with, I don't want to fiddle!! This is awesome!
I had just received my A1 mini when I saw the announcement for the A1. I don't regret getting the mini, but still. I am impressed with the mini enough that I went ahead and ordered the A1 (keeping the mini). I stopped printing about 4 years ago because, like you said, I want to print and not tinker. My wife has asked how to print after seeing me printing and not messing with the printer. That is the main reason, and print size, I went ahead and order the A1 and will keep the mini. We will both be able to print and choose which one to based on print size.
Exactly the same. The mini is perfect for many jobs I do and is my latest goto printer (sorry 1st gen craftbot, you've served me well - not sorry creality 5 s1 purchased a year ago, you're a piece of crap), and now getting an A1 as well. Having seen results from the X1 C and now having hands on with the mini, really impressed by what Bambu are doing, not just with the hardware but also the firmware, which is so far ahead of Creality even with the sonic pad that there's no point in any comparison.
Well just starting out I thinking this is the 1st one for me I don't to build or upgrade before my first print I am building a cnc plasma table and next a cnc router as I have taught my self by watching TH-cam . Thanks for your video.
this is the reason I pulled the trigger on an A1 just now; printing, not preparing to print. I'm primarily a designer, not a hobby electrician/programmer. oh. and it helps that it doesn't sound like a jet turbine as my productivity is mostly nocturnal.
My safety word is "Miter Saw". I currently use an Ender 3 v2 and have only been printing for a few months now. I truly like to tinker with the machine as much as I enjoy printing things. This A1, however, just works and upholds my love for "bed slingers." I definitely see myself owning one of these in the very near future. Great review and keep up the awesome content!
My safety word is "thank you." I'm a 3D printing enthusiast and have been printing since 2012, when the first 3D printers came out. My first printer was a RepRap. I have been looking for a video that might change my mind about purchasing a Bambu printer because I was suspicious about their specs and claims. Unfortunately, over the years, we have been misled and lied to by various vendors and companies who couldn't deliver on their promises. This made me very skeptical about buying a Bambu printer. However, after watching your video, I decided to go ahead and buy it. I run a small 3D printing farm with 12 printers, and I was totally amazed by the results. It just works, and as you mentioned, many features were as expected. Thanks for your content and your video.
Thanks for the empathy to us new A1 Mini owners. It helps to not feel this disappointment alone. I wish it was at least announced with the A1 mini. They knew what they were doing by concealing it, and it just leaves a bit of a bitter taste for their brand now. Their return policy is also quite bad unfortunately. I think I just need to remind myself that I don't need the extra space for 95% of my prints, and then go out and spend the difference on something fun, like a bottle of whiskey.
Someone on reddit theorized that there was a delay in getting the A1 released and it was supposed to be released at the same time as the mini. And I totally buy the theory, it just makes a lot of sense. A ton of us would have bought the larger machine, so it's cost them revenue. And ill will, as so many mini owners are pissed that a new machine came out a week after they got their mini.
The A1 does have some minor advantages that the AuroraTech channel goes over, it’s just smaller. The Mini is ideal because it’s a good entry level printer to get your feet wet with before jumping into a CoreXY machine that takes up more space and has more options.
I have to say I'm a little miffed - but only slightly due to my (probably) uncommon situation. I personally own a P1P (upgraded to a P1S). But I did buy a A1 Mini for my foster son for Christmas and (had I known about it) would have likely gotten him the non-mini instead. But he can still have access to my machine for the (likely few) cases when he does need the bigger print volume and the mini is a bit more portable so I know it will end up working well for him.
If you wanted a full size printer, why did you buy the A1 mini? Why didn’t you buy one of the other great bed slingers like an AnkerMake M5? Or even stretch to a P1P? You chose a small machine… I don’t get it 🤷♂️
Phenomenal coverage here. Haven’t watched every A1 video yet but this is the best I’ve seen so far. Your style is truly your own and the editing is next level.
You're exactly right. The A1 Mini is fantastic. I was stoked about the A1. So much so, that I bought it also! I was enjoying my entry to 3D Printing Land so much, I immediately realized I wanted another printer for when the first one is busy on an 18 hour print job. The A1 was the perfect addition. I swap the AMS between them, depending on my needs at the time. They make a great pair!
Been looking to get my first 3d printer. Doing my research these last couple months and saw that Bambu was kicking up a storm so thought to wait til next year to see what comes next. I'll watch more reviews of this one, and still hold til the new year but this looks super promising. Your vids are great and completely cater to what I would want to do with a 3d printer. Great Stuff!
I think the A1 would be an awesome starter printer. I have the bigger brother printers from Bambu, but if it's that same kind of tech and craftsmanship. Others might argue you down to cheaper printers, and they aren't bad, but it's like was said in this video. A lot of those other printers are just the same ol with their styling slapped on. They don't have the same craftsmanship or quality that a company like Bambu puts into their printers. These Bambu printers are on the top of my list when recommending to new users that aren't interested in endlessly fiddling with printer mechanics, and just want something that works so they can focus on design.
@@HarveyVarietyHour i agree with the easy of use and the pure workhorse mentality of the bambu printers but id shell out that little bit extra for the p1p instead of the a1 for a couple of reason. 1. Bedslingers are notorious for producing artifacts printing at medium to high speed. 2. Bedslingers require more countertop space. 3. If you later on get an AMS for the p1p it also acts as a drybox for your available filaments. 4. You have a better upgrade path to a p1s with the upgrade kit for the p1p. You could push it to almost x1c level though no carbon tubes and big screen. On the other hand if you want to tinker a little bit there are some great deals to be made, but i fully understand that, that isnt for everyone. I tinker a lot with some of my printers but my x1 is my stock workhorse that will never be out of service except light maintainance. Ive recently acquired a k1 max from creality since they can now be rooted and i can run stock klipper + whatever upgrades i feel like on it with the added bonus that the 300x300 bed on the k1 max gives me just that bit more room i wish for in the x1c. Thats just my two cents though and experiences may vary.
I have the A1 with AMS and it’s amazing. I think it’s at the sweet spot for price and functionality for newcomers and people like me who are returning after giving up on lower quality machines. $399 for the A1 is amazing imo with the phone app and cloud integration. The AMS Lite is great for my 15yo and 12yo. They print from mom’s house and come over to get their stuff. Love it
Hey mate. Love the enthusiasm, and for the most part I agree. They're doing great things for 3d printing and pushing tech forward. Though being closed source is not insignificant. I'm an advocate of open source but still have a bambu x1. I think just mentioning open vs closed at every opportunity helps with awareness. We don't need to make judgements about it, just so that there's awareness.
I AM COMPLETELY the same as far as I just want to make stuff, not engineer a 3d Printer. I love my P1S, Its not perfect but its damn close and just works. Thats the biggest point of Bambu , is the user experience. So far I am also having that with my K1 Max and Ender 3 V3 KE as well with Creality Print. I will most likely get the A1 without the AMS lite as I dont do much Multicolor printing and I have my P1S combo for that anyway. I will use it like a production machine with the P1S in Orca. Great vid as always. Cheers on your success and hoping you continue to excel.
I just wanted to say thank you for all of your videos! You have helped me decide what printers I'm going to buy and I can't tell you how much I enjoy how entertaining and educational your videos are. I never would have even thought to look at Bambu Lab because I didn't think there was a chance I could afford one of their machines.
What most impresses me is that Bambu constantly improves the software and hardware so even the early adopters keep getting better and better value. Everything you said is true, although I think gushing is okay when it's justified.
The bigger the bed the more they need to be core x/y, so the Mini is enough as it is. Any bigger and it’s not ideal at the expected speeds. Like previously suggested, those who have learnt already, are waiting for the bigger X1. Which trust me, will be due out as soon as the A1 std combo rush has slowed down. 👍🏼
Just now learning about the Bambu Labs 3D printers, but I am in awe. My first 3D printer was a Matter and it went bankrupt, so I lost the ability to easily 3D print. Your video is spot on. I will likely purchase the Bambu Labs A1 printer to continue my adventures in the 3D printing world. All of your PROS to this printer over the A! mini are wonderful. Thank you for sharing your thoughts as I am definitely more about the printing than the printer--but I do want the printer to work consistently for years without headaches.
Nice review. I'm definitely in both worlds. I make a lot of models for parts to support my other hobbies and love being able to quickly iterate designs of useable prints without having to mess with the printer. I also have several printers that have been torn down to every nut and bolt over the years and reassembled with the cool new part-of-the-month, most recently getting things converted over to e3D's Revo ecosystem (which is glorious for reinvigorating an old V6 nozzle printer IMO). I agree that there are 2 separate hobbies of printing 3D models and tinkering with 3D printers.
i contacted support twice previously regarding the bed ramming onto the base and stalls the motor, just a firmware issue mind you and not a hardware one, and it was fixed soon after, response was also relatively quick taking at most 24 hours, and from the way they reply, you can tell that the support personal was actually knowledgeable about 3d printing or about the printer, and doesnt just give you some BS textbook response, i just love it.
@@davidgesell Coming from an Ender 3, this A1 is a good next step up that’s for sure. But what I would like to see is: is there a significant level of quality between a Core XY vs Bedslinger Bambu Lab? Is it worth the extra $? Is it more of a type of material you can use? As the quality are equal? Never had a Core XY printer before.
@@Guapogiboy Dude it's entirely next level. The speeds an accuracy at which you can print on a core xy machine are substantially better than a bed slinger I feel. The chances of your print flying off your bed on a core xy are relatively low, given that the bed is only hopping up and down 1-2mm once in awhile. I really like the A1 series and how much cheaper they are but, I don't think I can ever leave the core xy realm haha.
I got the A1 mini on the first day and the mega box is still not here. I am kinda frustrated about how they announced it but again the A1 mini is superbly good machine and I do not regret it. I think it is smart of their side to kill 2 rabbits with 1 shot as the base is the same. Oh and I bought 6 months ago the Steam Deck because I was like naah they won't have second gen yet... Bummer :D
At the end, technology is just going faster and faster, new release are going to become more frequent so in the end of the day, you should still be happy with what you bought or else you are never going to be happy. I have a lot of interest in 3d printing but also in photography/videography and let me tell you that this world technology is expanding fast. You stick with the product that fit your needs and price and upgrade along the way to the next big leap. ;) have fun with your acquisitions!
@@Choom42 I agree with you. My first scanning and photogranphy was years and years ago and I love that $h1T :D Have nothing to do with Bussines side of things and how they are releasing products. 3D printers go out each week for years now it is not a surprise. And with 9 printers I think I have found what I am looking for. Let me tell you it is not the A1 (A1 mini is different, right?). Then again I see what are they doing (killing Prusa mainly haha) and this does not mean I agree with it. I preffer if they've got out a a non-bed slinging printer (check Turnigy duplicator for 8 y.o. printer of this kind). And they did what? Cmon guys I still havent received the mega combo box and they have another model on pre-sale. Give us what we paid for FIRST, then do whatever
This is the video I was looking for so thank you for putting this out. I want to print not play with the printer or constantly fixing and tinkering. I'm tired too and feel the same way...I just want to enjoy the print!
My safety word is "persiflage". Great review, and pretty much what all the other A1 review videos have been saying since they dropped at EXACTLY THE SAME time this morning. Bambu must have nailed its embargo contracts down HARD after the NEXT LAYER fiasco
The funny thing about your video is that you said more or less everything I think. I have been printing for a while now (can't remember how long) and have had to learn the ins and outs of the hobby, but always secretly just wanted to print stuff. Also, I just got my A1 mini the other day. Now, the A1 is out . . . but perhaps it will be my next purchase . . . oh well. And yes, I still like my mini. Thanks for this video and its commentary. I think there are a lot of us out there in this boat.
Thanks, Yeah i seem to have fallen into less review and more community commentarty with my Bambu reviews, but it seems to work. I like to echo what many think and get the word out
I bought a creality 3 max Neo a few weeks ago just to dive into the hobby and have really enjoyed it. Pretty much been running non stop since I got it. It really beat my expectations. But seeing the ease of bambu, I am definitely getting one soon!
I've only owned Creality since the old school CR-10 with a single z axis screw... STILL RUNNING THAT PRINTER NOW. Like literally as I type this. But this is probably going to be my next printer! And soon.
@@ku8721 I bought a Ender 3 V3 SE a while ago. I am in no way newcomer at 3D printing (I started with some acrylic contraption years ago), but this Ender is by far the most easy one I ever used. Automatic bed leveling and z-axis offset is one of the highlights. The only thing you have to do is the leveling process once, slice your design (I use Cura that already has a profile for this printer) and print away. And all of that for under $200. Maybe I take a look at Bambu stuff later (although the whole proprietary stuff does not sit well with me at all), but certainly not in the short therm. Why should I? All the stuff I want to print can be printed already in a very easy way.
@@jclosed2516 I completely understand and you don't have to sell me on Creality. But its a little like driving a Model A and stopping at a red light and seeing a Ferrari pull up next to you! 500mm per sec for $400 bucks HELL YES I'm buying one!!!
@@ku8721 Oh - I understand completely. I did not try to sell that Creality printer at all. It's just that it's more than enough for my needs (I do consumer electronics repair, and sometimes need to replace weird formed mechanical stuff inside equipment. I use FreeCAD to design those and make STL files to be printed). Anyway - My biggest hurdle is the proprietary "walled garden" model of these printers. The present 3D printing has come so far by being completely open design and free to replicate. This closed off stuff (and even possibly patenting parts of it, opening the way to patent litigation) is a clashing with that, and is big red flag for me. I am not sure I if want to support this...
@@jclosed2516 OK I'm gonna walk back my comment from yesterday. Been fighting with all 3 of my printers. So damn tired of spending more time troubleshooting than printing! Been a huge Huge HUGE fan of Creality for years but after this week I might be jumping ship... I WILL fix my S5 because a 500mm cubed build plate is AWESOME!!!
Your kid looks like they're having a mad time. I can't imagine how cool it would have been to have a 3D printer as a kid that age. Bambu really is that easy and accessible. It's a breath of fresh air.
Prusa existed before Bambu Lab and I would guess Prusa will exist after Bambu Lab 😅 Statements like this just reveal some people have no idea *what* Prusa printers are.
I don't think so - Bambu have no upgrade paths for these printers without creating a significant amount of ewaste. I'm not a fan of either, but I am an owner of both.
@@kimmotoivanen I had Mk3 and Mk4 before so am I still a srot of person you want to bite? And statement like yours are from people who have no idea what Bambu printers really are.
@@makinganemone You won't get much from this excellent video. Watch it more carefully. Also, there are way more people who just want to print their things than those who enjoy modding with their printer. That's why Prusa's market share will be dramatically cut by Bambu. Bambu Lab is a leading company that pulls the 3D-printing field from a deeper dungeon and aims to make it a mainstream hobby.
I'm a new subscriber and I have to say I absolutely positively love your videos! I love the humor and how you just get straight to the point with the videos and don't hold anything back. Absolutely awesome set a videos especially this new printer
Thanks for this. I'm currently trying to work out what FDM printer to buy as my first printer and you've just about managed to convince me to go for the A1. I now have to present the idea in such a way that the Mrs thinks its HER idea, allowing me to actually order it. My safety word is none of your business....that's strictly known to my Mrs :op
As someone who has built many open source 3d printers over that last 12+ years, I'm happy to see a printer at this price with so many features. I don't want to build any more 3d printers because I don't have to anymore. I can just suggest this printer.
I made it to the end, Ta-Dah..I'm ditching my old printers (Ender 3 v2 and a Artillery Genius ) but still deciding which Bambu to get. Just subscribed today, thanks for the video mate.
I bought a1 mini + ams on black friday, loved it. Bought A1 yesterday. Zero regrets the a1 mini is my 6th printer and compairing the old printers (geeetech) to the bambu labs is like compairing a model T to a tesla.
My safety word is plethora. Really enjoyed the review and agree with you, bambu are the only people who have tackled the pain point of printing. And it's funny watching the other competitors going after speed rather than all of the other issues.
I really wish I'd known about about the Bambu Lab products when i bought my Ender 3 S1. The Ender 3 S1 is definately a printer for people who like to constantly fix and calibrate their printer, or i just got a bad printer. Maybe ill switch up to BL sometime thia year.
Fantastic review and so well said. I bit the bullet and got me an X1 Carbon with the AMS and I haven't looked back yet, still havent told my wife how much it cost but knowing how much other printers have cost in the past and how much time i had to put into them to get them to print I think she has a pretty good idea. I wish I could say the say the same for the K1. I got one of the early releases and it was great for 1 week and hasn't printed since. I did get the upgrade from Creality but still no go. I have tried customer support to no avail. I had an issue with my AMS on the x1 and called support with an answer in a couple of days and a new part in the mail with a link to a detailed video on how to fix it. I will definitely be buying an A1 because I have since started selling prints on Etsy and I cant keep up and dont want to spend days coaxing my printers to do what I need to do. Thanks for a great review!
I just got one after buying an Ender printer last year and returning it right away do to the complexity and maintenance needed to operate it. This A1 is so easy and I have already printed more than when I had the Ender.
Thank you for putting this together. Like many folks here, I've been playing with printers for a long time (I think I got my first one in 2016?) and it took me a long time to realize that I like *printing* not *printers*. I'm mechanically inclined and I love to fix things. But I don't love having to fix my tools before I can fix things. I was certain my next printer would be a Prusa, but at this point I think I'm sold on the A1. I have a Sidewinder X1 I'm still fighting just in case I REALLY need something large printed in one piece but... I think 90% of my interests can be printed on 256x256x256. Of all the reviews I've seen, I've never seen someone be so honest about not being into futzing with printers and just wanting to print things. Rock on, my friend.
I've had an ender3 for 12 years. I bit the bullet a while ago and bought the A1. Fantastic, utter chalk and cheese. So impressed I bought the A1 mini as well!
This is totally me. Adulting is hard! When its done I just want to come down and set a print away and love coming down to a new shiny thing in the morning! Saving for an A1 at the moment. Would love to see you do a video on Lithos or making 3d printed picture thingys. My safe word is Panda..
Thank you for your video, I also get a lot of quality and confidence from your video, I decided to buy this Bambu Lab A1 3D Printer today, thank you I am very grateful for your hard work🙏
Thank you for the great video! You sold me, I just ordered an A1, and I am excited. I like tinkering with printers but I am getting older and just want something that works, thank you! My safety word is “pasta”, lol!
I've watched a lot of videos on this printer but yours definitely stood out. Even subscribed which is not common for me. You have a very palatable style that resonates well with your viewer. Keep up the good work!
I've watched a couple of videos about the A1 to help me decide if this will be my first printer. Your video has solidified this. Great video! My safety word is moist towelette. :)
I am brand new to 3D printing and am currently researching which printer to buy...I am pretty much convinced it will be the A1. Thanks for the great review!! My safety word is "STOP" (stop spending, stop searching, stop looking 😂)
As an Ender 3 v2 user since 2020 and that being my first printer, I really love my upgrade to the X1C abut 1.5 months ago. It is so nice just clicking print and KNOWING I can leave it and return to a flawless print! No being awake too long at night in my undies, trying to level the bed and get the perfect first layer to stick so I can leave it overnight, just to realize the nozzle is clogged again, swapping nozzle and having to adjust bed level again and starting over. Bambu Lab just works! The era of this being a tinkering hobby is dying, 3d printers are home appliances now! They fit in to a modern household, and they performe like any other home appliances you buy, and expect to work out of the box. Bambu Lab is really recommended as a first printer from me also! Great video!
This is sooo true! I was so close to buying a p1s on black Friday but didn't after buying presents and I'm soooo glad, I saw this a few days ago and went straight and ordered it. Because A1 with the ams is cheaper than what the p1s was on black Friday.
ok I am convinced. after trawling through the resin issues, and I have loads of issues with waste products, cleaning and chemicals, FDM was the way and everyone talks abut Bambu a lot. I think this will be the one to get - My safe word is Bernese :)
On Sunday I gave my Ender 3 Pro to my 11 year old nephew who was visiting from Texas. He picked up how to use it fairly quickly so I let him take it home. That gave me the excuse I needed to get the A1 combo which I purchased on Sunday. Can't wait for it to arrive.
Been 3d printing for 5 years, started with an Anet and then Creality. Did a bit own design based upgrades. Just got an A1 mini and they come with the additional heatbed that fixes the heat bed cable fault issue. This is worth every penny you are spending. And I like tinkering and do enjoy printer hacking. But this printer just gets it done and so much easy that we can focus on the print than the printer. I waited a good 6 months before buying for the company to fix any launch issue. Based on my experience with this unit over 6 months, I plan to get an X1 Carbon next year.
They are a bit like the Apple of the 3D printing world. Importantly, they're more like the Apple of the 2000s that was actually innovating and pushing the industry rather than the Apple of the 2010s which just focused on charging as much as possible for proprietary. The other key distinction is that sure, Bambu Lab isn't cheap, but it also isn't insanely expensive like Apple. If this was just a marked up premium looking printer with no benefits, it would be $800 for the sleek looks rather than $400. It's clearly very functional, it has features many machines don't, it looks really nice, it's good for newbies and the experienced alike, and it's not 2-3X the cost of the most comparable machines. Fair play. It should and will sell well.
I had a major malfunction on my P1S last night. A bunch of press fit parts came out way too tight. I had to recalibrate my filament. The pattern came out mint afterwards. I love how easy these printers are
@@FauxHammer I got mine for similar reasons you did. System self diagnosing, ease of prints and software, modular designs, online part catalog, and filament automation. Definitely buy once, cry once.
I originally watched this video a couple of months ago, as part of my research into FDM printers. I had the budget but not the physical space so the A1 mini was the perfect option. Bearing in mind I have both dexterity and mobility problems, from box to printing was just under 30 mins. I could even understand the slicer. So all in all it's 👍's up from me as the perfect choice for a beginner ( at least in my instance). My only mishap so far was a spool falling apart on the AMS mid print. Totally my fault for not insuring the spool was cliked shut. I'm now in the very tedious process of trying to salvage nearly a full spool. Cheers for the vid, I'll give it a like this time.
Thanks Fauxhammer, I was going to buy the Elegoo neptune 4+. Having read many many customer reviews and watching your neptune 4 review and all other reviews I could find, It seems users have problems if not from the very start they will shortly. Like you I want my hobby to be printing not the printer. I'm Looking forward to receiving my Bambu A1 as my 1st 3D printer.. Thanks again for the honest reviews. My condolences to those who bought the A1 mini.
I bought this printer after watching videos like this and talking to users and seeing the output of this printer for myself. I have to endorse all fauxhammer says about this printer, it is brilliant and very well thought out. No longer do I have to fiddle with settings to get a good print, although I can if I want to and I do. It does just what it says it does and does it exceptionally well. I especially like the interconnectivity with my phone and laptop no more fiddling with micro sd cards😊😊😊😊😊. If you are in the market for a 3D printer then you won't go wrong with this one.
My safety word is that I don't have a safety word. I'm not into that. And I replaced my old 3D printer that I built from a kit to a Bambu Labs X1-Carbon printer with the AMS. My first print was perfect and I'm printing like a pro now, thanks to the AI technology on this printer. I'm a Bambu Labs fanboy and I love it!
Brilliant review, honest and probably what many of us are feeling, it needs to just work. Can’t wait to get mine after struggling with an Ender 3v2 for 12 months. I want to print, not gain a degree in engineering and extrusion
love ur review, im tired too.. and have similar life.. i just want make prints that work.. like an iphone.. but i need a larger option from Bambu that works and doesn't make me age significantly older while waiting for a print to be done..
You said it all! I just opened mine mini yesterday and I’m so impressed, but now I know the A1, I’m sad. I’ll check if I can send the mini back and get A1. Nice video by the way!😊
In the US there return period is 14 days from when you received the delivery. Just initiate contact with support within that time frame and you can return the printer minus shipping. I did just that, though my situation was a little bit more complicated because the printer was a gift. If you're in Europe I think the return process is even easier. As the EU has better consumer protection laws.
Your review above all others tempted me to have a punt on one through your link....AWSOME!! I just threw on some matte PLA on the preset as this stuff can be a bit hit and miss and it printed out the AMS top holder with no real issues. I am now tempted to sell all my other printers (J1, M5,SVo7+) and run these. They've set the bar again and nothing comes close.
My safety word is Sherbet. I haven't gotten into 3D printing in terms of my own purchase yet, but this printer has given me a lot to think anout. I like that resin printers are smoothe, but I'm an asthamtic so the chemicals worry me quite a bit. Thanks for sharing sharing info on this printer!
I bought the A1 Mini because a friend recommended it to me. am very happy with it. If I'm going to upgrade, I'll do it to the x1 carbon. then I make a mega step instead of just a bigger bed.
My hobby is printers and printing. I need something to do while the printers are printing. I already have some old bedslingers (5 or so!) and I'd rather have flying gantries nowadays, but this has me looking for a solid TPU printer, my sovols have done well, but it's time to move on...from fiddling. My X1C was so awesome, I bought a P1S. That is so awesome I'm now looking at this, thanks to you! I really enjoy having these because I can just push print, walk away, and come back later to a completed print. Now all my Vorons will be kitted in the best printed parts available, until that Voron is built...and then on to the next one. These are also great to get your family into it. I've built printers for my wife and kids, but I have to hold hands and continually tune them for them. Not with this thing, or things I should say. Thanks for pushing me over the top for another printer I don't need. It will sit in my army of Vorons and VzBots, next to my Rat Rig 500. Now if resin would up their game!
I literally told my family not to get me the mini not even knowing this was coming out just to place an order for it last Saturday. It arrived today and has already printed a perfect test print. I'm doing my fist multi-color print now!
My safety word is bumble bee. Great point on those whose hobby is collecting the printer instead of printing. Great video. Heard different things about the A1 not printing the broadest range of filaments and would like to understand which filaments won’t work like carbon fibers etc
My safety word is A1 Combo I wanted to buy the a1 mini, but wasn’t sure about the bed size, so I decided not to do it. Few days later they announced the „big bro is coming“ so they had me. I just bought the a1 combo and I’m very excited about the features and everything. What you said, I’m tired, I have a Anycubic Mega X with modified steppers, fans, firmware etc. Thanks for the video! Thanks to bamboo.
Great review, thanks. I'm fed up with my ender 3 pro and its inconsistent prints and the amount of tinkering I needed to do to get what I consider good results. I'm not against the "printer as a hobby" mentality, I'm just over it and want to print useful things without tinkering. I am glad I waited though, with the current ongoing recall. This A1 seems like a pretty awesome bed slinger aside from the launch hiccup that I'm sure they'll rectify. I was considering a P1P, but at $200 more it would need to have a bigger bed for me to choose it over the A1.
I've been thinking of getting my kid an A1 mini for his birthday in a couple months. I woke up for work today to take a look as I periodically do, only to be confused as to why the A1 went up in price by $100. I immediately closed the web page and started reconsidering the purchase. Not until later today and seeing this video did I realize there was a new larger A1 on the block. Now I'm considering spending the extra 100 for him.
An honest review! Bambu Labs are about the human input, in my opinion too, not the machine so we can get on with just printing (although I do like tinkering with my enders !). The buyers remorse I understand but hey you pays your money you take your chance. I have a X1C and an A1 mini but waited until I knew the size of the build plate and decide not to buy one as the 2 I have cover what I want to print.
I have the X1C, the A1 Mini, and the A1. I love all three and they each have a unique place in my arsenal. I don't have the buyer's remorse on the Mini because it fits nicely on my desk at work and is so quiet.
I think the A1 will be my next printer over getting another p1p It might take up more space but being more quiet is what I'm most excited about Close second is that the core-XY frame is constantly in the way of doing things like nozzle swaps It's just such an inconvenient size to work in So an open design (bed slinger) that "just works" is exactly what I'll go for I will wait 3-4 months to see if they come out with a bigger bed size though A1 max sounds promising Being flat packed it's cheaper (for shipping and packaging) to size this printer up than a core-XY printer

I received my A1 yesterday, and it makes horrible noise from the X-Axis. Almost like a broken bearing. Bambu support just adviced me it is completely normal:
“What you are hearing are the bearings inside the MGN block of the linear rail. The bearings have a certain preload which makes them more precise, but slightly louder compared to other bearings. Please note though that this is normal it expected.”
I don’t have this issue on my A1 mini, have you had these issues on your A1?
@@Mr.X3D post a video of its noise on a Bambi Facebook group and ask people to respond with videos of theirs.
Use that as a comparison and as evidence to show Bambi support - you’re also then doing it publically in one of their groups.
I have to say that I thoroughly enjoyed the video and learned a lot about the machine itself. I have already decided to purchase this machine, and I completely relate to your feeling tired all the time! I just want it to work I don’t want to fiddle with Settings and tweaking things just to get a nice good print. I already have a CO2 laser for that kind of stuff.
This guy faux is just promoting bamboo machines. They are not open source. Avoid.

In fairness to Bambu they called the earlier model the A1 mini which implied there would be an A1 non-mini since there was no such thing as an A1 in their lineup before the mini. It only took me a tiny bit of research to find that they were indeed going to release a full sized A1 and to wait for it.
yeah, but one thing is releasing it 6 months/ 1 year later... one thing is 2 weeks after sending the preorders batch of the A1 mini
@@PiotrDega the fact that this is the type of complaint a company has is pretty awesome if you think about it
@@PiotrDega The A1 isn't launching until May. So yeah it's about 5/6 months after the mini.
@@civy9962 what problems are you having?
Now im definitely glad I talked myself out of going for the Mini.👍
I'm a mechanic and never really got going with 3d printing because there was always something to fix or adjust....I really have no patience for that after fixing and adjusting stuff at work all day.
@@makers_labmini owner here....I'm currently selling some stuff to pay for the a1....
this is the reason I pulled the trigger on an A1 just now; printing, not preparing to print.
Great review and keep up the awesome content!
my safety word is "grape" - I have an old SLOW ender clone... thinking its about time to upgrade.
My safety word is "thank you."
I'm a 3D printing enthusiast and have been printing since 2012, when the first 3D printers came out.
I’d argue that a good bottle of whiskey is something good to have on hand anytime. 🤣
You chose a small machine… I don’t get it 🤷♂️
"I'm tired." - as a dad, I LOL'd hard at this bit, I felt it in my soul. Great vid, cheers.
Phenomenal coverage here. Haven’t watched every A1 video yet but this is the best I’ve seen so far. Your style is truly your own and the editing is next level.
Wow, thank you!
Great to hear!
Depending on your usecase and budget id say that there are other more suitable printers out there than the A1.
Closed source is completely insignificant to the target market.
Wrong. It's actually the ONLY reason I am not getting a Bambu.@@Martial-Mat
You know Ross is clickbaiting with that thumbnail. 😂
You know me well...
at least we all know it by now!
Hope they'll eventually make a full 300mm version, but it's nice to finally see more than incremental changes in that segment.
There will be a 400x400
@@williamelewis464 A1 plus or a1 max? Do you know when? Where is this info?
my safe word is "subbed".. First video of yours I've seen. Well done.

I’m enjoying waiting for the tech to keep getting better and better. So far Bambu has put the 3D printers on the right path.
Is there a point where you'll eventually be happy though? Just buy one now, wait a few models and buy another.
I loved tinkering with my ender 3, then the ender 5 pro, now, I am all tinkered out and just want to play
My first scanning and photogranphy was years and years ago and I love that $h1T :D
Have nothing to do with Bussines side of things and how they are releasing products.
I'm tired too and feel the same way...I just want to enjoy the print!
thanks so much
My safety word is "persiflage".
Great review, and pretty much what all the other A1 review videos have been saying since they dropped at EXACTLY THE SAME time this morning. Bambu must have nailed its embargo contracts down HARD after the NEXT LAYER fiasco
This is the first video I've seen of yours, praise be the algorithm! Fantastic video, you've earned a sub... Oh, and my safe word is pepermint.
I like to echo what many think and get the word out
I was one of the few people who waited and waited. Now I’m glad I waited and will be getting the A1 instead of the a1 mini
R.I.P Prusa Mk4
Who?
Prusa existed before Bambu Lab and I would guess Prusa will exist after Bambu Lab 😅
Statements like this just reveal some people have no idea *what* Prusa printers are.
Bambu's big mistake, is the NDAs they force on reviewers.
Lawfare have entered the maker-space :(
I've obviously read and signed the NDA. It's fairly standard. Other than what time I can share stuff, it's completely unrestrictive.
@@FauxHammer What is the cost of accidentally leaking something?
@@ZappyOh Bye Bye early access to anything new in future

Thanks for this. I'm currently trying to work out what FDM printer to buy as my first printer and you've just about managed to convince me to go for the A1. I now have to present the idea in such a way that the Mrs thinks its HER idea, allowing me to actually order it. My safety word is none of your business....that's strictly known to my Mrs :op
Video starts at 9:15, first half is yap
Welcome to the new world.
This is totally me. Adulting is hard! When its done I just want to come down and set a print away and love coming down to a new shiny thing in the morning! Saving for an A1 at the moment. Would love to see you do a video on Lithos or making 3d printed picture thingys. My safe word is Panda..
Thank you for your video, I also get a lot of quality and confidence from your video, I decided to buy this Bambu Lab A1 3D Printer today, thank you I am very grateful for your hard work🙏
me too using the link
You do such a great job making these videos. Very well done! Thank you. My safety word is “For the love of god STOP!” But it usually doesn’t work.
Thank you for the great video! You sold me, I just ordered an A1, and I am excited. I like tinkering with printers but I am getting older and just want something that works, thank you! My safety word is “pasta”, lol!
Love the Robocop helmet! I don't need a safety word, but sticking with the theme, I suggest: "Dead or alive, you're coming with me!"
currently contemplating buying my first 3d printer and have been looking at the Bambu range, especially the A1. Top review of this product by the way
Thanks kindly. I have seen very few people upset with these
I've watched a lot of videos on this printer but yours definitely stood out. Even subscribed which is not common for me. You have a very palatable style that resonates well with your viewer. Keep up the good work!
Wow, thank you!
If interested in 3D printing as a beginner, this is the best & simplest explanation of why buy Bambu Labs printers, thanks
Thanks, and yeah, it really is what they have unlocked with their brand.
I agree 1000% with everything you said! Great video! (...) Hey... the Robocob helmet... I saw that! Oh, my safety word is "stop, it hurts!"
Good choice! trust me, start with the A1
It arrived yesterday! Just waiting for the filament to get here! Can’t wait to get started!!
Great Video, and yes I have A1 Mini. bummer, If only I knew....... cheers
ok I am convinced. after trawling through the resin issues, and I have loads of issues with waste products, cleaning and chemicals, FDM was the way and everyone talks abut Bambu a lot. I think this will be the one to get - My safe word is Bernese :)
I am a product design student. And I just got this printer for myself (very happy) Thanks a lot for such informative vids !
Great to hear! I hope it serves you well!
I love how easy these printers are
I spent literally months researching printers.
Ended up getting the X1-C. I love the machine. I’m just here looking at a gift idea for a friend.
Wow, that’s an awesome first printer!
Great content!!!
I actually bought the A1 today and it should be here in a couple of days!!! Can't wait!!!
My safety word is: I love my first Bambulab printer
Nice video by the way!😊
I think you can, but there may be a restocking cost if no issues with your mini
My safety word is help! Now i will have to choose between A1 mini (my choice until 15 min ago) and the A1
My safety word is Sherbet.
I haven't gotten into 3D printing in terms of my own purchase yet, but this printer has given me a lot to think anout. I like that resin printers are smoothe, but I'm an asthamtic so the chemicals worry me quite a bit. Thanks for sharing sharing info on this printer!
Great video! Getting to know my X1 as first printer and it is remarkable. Bambu is killing it
Wow. Look at that jet engine! What genius designed THAT??? Give the guy credit.
JUST BOUGHT THE A1 COMBO, SO GLAD I FOUND YOUR VIDEO! GREAT STUFF!
MY SAFETY WORD IS MANGO!
The arguments you made for this printer is why i bought a glow forge a few years ago. I wanted a tool not a project.
Thanks for the review and the cheeky laugh towards the end! 🤣 Thanks Phil
I'm looking at the A1 in Oct 2024 and this is a great video overview. My safety word is 'bananas'.
I literally told my family not to get me the mini not even knowing this was coming out just to place an order for it last Saturday. It arrived today and has already printed a perfect test print. I'm doing my fist multi-color print now!
You are hands down the best 3d printer reviewer. Thanks for the review and happy holidays to you and your family
Wow, thank you! you too
I 100% agree with you on being tired and don't want to tinker anymore.
Thanks
My safety word is bumble bee. Great point on those whose hobby is collecting the printer instead of printing. Great video. Heard different things about the A1 not printing the broadest range of filaments and would like to understand which filaments won’t work like carbon fibers etc
My safety word is A1 Combo
I wanted to buy the a1 mini, but wasn’t sure about the bed size, so I decided not to do it.
I think the A1 will be my next printer over getting another p1p
It might take up more space but being more quiet is what I'm most excited about
Close second is that the core-XY frame is constantly in the way of doing things like nozzle swaps
It's just such an inconvenient size to work in
So an open design (bed slinger) that "just works" is exactly what I'll go for
I will wait 3-4 months to see if they come out with a bigger bed size though
A1 max sounds promising
Being flat packed it's cheaper (for shipping and packaging) to size this printer up than a core-XY printer
