Recently ordered a P1S myself. For me, the enclosure and AMS helping to protect from moisture is huge. I live in an old house. Temperature and humidity vary *greatly* from hour to hour, let alone day to day.
I have loved my X1 Carbon I got for Christmas. Printing is easy, almost hassle free, and has made the hobby more fun. I have been printing parts for my boys robot project which has made us all very happy.
I have had the PS1 for about a month now and have yet to have a issue with printing PLA with the door close and lid on. Coming from a Ender 3 Pro, The P1S works like a dream. Though I am glad i started with a Ender because it helped me learn the basics of 3D Printer.
I have an ender 3 and am looking to upgrade. How are the overhangs compared to that of the ender 3 in your experience?
I'm using a flashforge finder 1 and am finally looking into "good" printers.
I love the idea of multiple colours
@cleverballoon6535 P1s can have some problems with overhang at normal speed. Just because it's so fast. Nothing major though, and you can slow it down if it's have trouble.
@GregoryShtevensh multi color is great but comes with drawbacks. Depending on size and orientation, it can add a bunch of time to your print. Also makes a bunch of waste because of the need to purge filament when shaping color. Though the results can look pretty striking.
I have an X1 and not been taking the lid off when printing pla am I missing something?

I love my P1S. Do I wish I had spent the extra money for the X1 Carbon? Sometimes, but I don't think the cost difference is justified. I'd been printing for 3.5 years on a Sidewinder X1 and wanted to upgrade to CoreXY and I don't regret the choice. I dislike some of the things Bambu does as a company, but they make great printers for certain. I also think they are good about fixing things that are a problem. I spent some time printing on my brother's X1 Carbon last summer and though I liked the printer I was unhappy about how long it took to upload files through their cloud. 6 months later now that I have my own P1S the speeds are noticeably faster than they were a few months ago.
Also, I've heard that you "need" to open the lid or door to print PLA in these enclosed printers, but I've done neither and all my prints have been fantastic. My AMS is on top of the top lid, and if I leave the door open my clumsy self will find a way to break it, so that's not happening either. It works fine with them both closed with all the PLA I have tried.
Pro-tip on support for PLA. It operates much like using PETG as a support in that it doesn't stick to PLA as aggressively as straight PLA. This allows you to set your interface gap to zero thus giving you far better finishes on support sites. Also make sure you choose the option in Bambu Studio to only use the support material as the "Interface layer" as this minimizes filment changes and thus waste. Also when you choose that option, it will automatically set that interface gap to zero.

@@striple6752 As I said only using it for the interface layer minimizes the changes. Obviously model design plays a role. That said honestly filament is cheap and while I would prefer less waste, I'll take convenience and print quality over waste every single day.

I took your word on the Uniformation GK2 and have been using it for 3 months now. Time to get into FDM printing and I'm going with a P1S after watching this and having a hard time deciding. Thanks for the time you put in to these very informative videos. Also, Keep the stock footage, it always makes me giggle.
You've convinced me to get the A1, and it was the best purchase ever. I was able to print things with stress free. Now with the recall, I'm thinking of taking this opportunity to upgrade to the P1S

Why not actually use the fact of owning a 3D printer and build an enclosure around it ... DIY style?!

The Ikea Lack enclosure could be a way to integrate some piece of furniture into a room.
cause CoreXY is far better than a bed slinger, even tho Bambu's bed slingers are great
and for the minimal price difference between the P1S and P1P i don't think it's worth getting a P1P, if it was more priced around €500 instead of €650-700 perhaps (compared for €750 on the P1S)

i went from a highly modded CR20 Pro to an A1 Mini
the A1 Mini has, in one month, done more prints than the CR20 Pro done in 2 years, without any hiccups.
i've had it since january.
needless to say that old thing's just collecting dust now
it had one big benefit over the CR10 and E3's tho, doesn't have bed leveling knobs and ABL out of the box
HOWEVER it came with literally broken firmware so ABL didn't even work out of the box, on a LOCKED BED PRINTER, LOL

I bought a p1p and sold a lot of self made stl files to the point that I could upgrade everything and bought an ams. Took about 2 months with only 5 models to achieve it

I’ve been doing 3D printing for a few years now. After tinkering, tooling, trashing a few printers, I feel I am at an intermediate experience level now. I’ve had my eye on the P1S combo for a little bit now and I think this video has made my decision to get it be set in stone. One point that I kind of justify for the purchase over the P1P, like you said in the video, is that I don’t know what I will want to print in the future. With the quality of prints, color options, upgradability, and overall ease of use, this may be one of the best printers in its class and in its price range. I am confident I will be happy with my choice.

My P1S combo is the best 3d printing purchase that i have made. Coming from a relatively reliable ender 3, it just takes the faff out of printing. I was sick of the tinkering and just wanted something that worked with no fuss.
I had the P1P until yesterday when the rest of my P1S upgrade kit showed up. I got my P1P before the P1S came out, and just recently I was able to catch the kit available and bought it instantly. I love having the enclosure now, will be able to print ABS/ASA without much issues from this point.
I had a v3 SE ,N4P. I returned them both and got the combo, it just works.
There's another practical reason to go for the enclosed printer - dust.
I have a P1P and have built an enclosure for it for this reason.
this might be a dumb question but how well would using a cardboard box as an enclosure work?
not dumb at all. In terms of keeping dust out, it'd work just fine, of course. I just listed it as another perk to having an enclosed printer.
Thank you for helping me decide to skip the X1C and just get the P1S. I was stuck on the better camera, and the lidar. But I'm not making any money yet from selling stuff, so it would be smart to just get the cheaper option.

Ordered a p1s/ams combo with hardened steel extruder gears and hotend yesterday. Like you said, I have no idea what the future holds but want the option to print whatever I want. This seems like one of the best value printers out right now

I have an ankermake from the Kickstarter and bought a P1S end of 2023, the P1S is way ahead of what anker offer especially with the AMS. Im looking at a 3rd printer and I'll either be a P1P just for churning out PLA prints or an A1 with an AMS mini.
Also thanks to your videos i just upgraded from an Anycubic photon 1 to a Mars Max and the difference is incredible
There's a misconception that the A1 is somehow "little" compared to the P1S/P, but it actually has a larger print area than the P series (and X series) due to its lack of an exclusion zone. It doesn't matter often, but sometimes it does. The AMS Lite is the same capacity as the regular AMS, but it's more accessible, easier to load filament, and it doesn't really care if your filament is on a cardboard spool. You have a P1S to cover the exotics. An A1 will print PLA/PETG all day long and does a superb job. Either way though, you can't go wrong.

@@corkey2077 for most who don't have a problem, BBL created a strain relief gadget you can print out in a few minutes and install. For those who do have damage to their heat bed cable, they have the option of receiving a new heat bed to replace the entire assembly, or they can get a new printer if they aren't handy. That sounds like a perfect solution. When my P1S extruder broke, I bought a new one. When it stopped connecting to my WiFi, I dealt with it. Lesson is that these are complicated pieces of hardware integrated with software and they all go wrong. Bambu takes responsibility for all their products, but in the case of the A1, they are going the extra mile.

The Ideal machine for me would be an enclosed Core XY one like P1S or X1C, but with a next generation/upgraded AMS that is not such a pain to use.
Based on your previous review I had already decided to get an A1 as my first printer, but now this review plus the fact that the A1 is currently out of stock in the US... I'm debating if I should just shell out the extra $400, lol. Thanks for another great video!

Just wanted to say thanks for the review I was using a printer at our library and finally got my own thanks to this video I was able to confidently spend that much on a printer 😅
I replaced my MK3S with the P1S back in November, and it's such a wonderful machine.
The black Friday deal got me a free hardened steel nozzle and gear upgrade, so it should be every bit as capable as the X1 :D
I fully agree, the real strength of the AMS unit isn't multi colour prints, but the convenience of picking which spool to start a new print from remotely!
I keep thinking about upgrading my MK3S as when I slice anything now, I put it in Bambu Labs and it is night and day in speed and time parts will finish. Would you go back to Prusa like the MK4?
@@jheli22 I do love Prusa's philosophy and support. But if you want an enclosed printer with multi material option, the MK4 is a tough sell. I do hope the MMU3 runs where the MMU2 stumbled
I have two questions/
first is it possible to connect the bambu lab x1c touch screen to the p1s instead of having normal one
second one the lidar from the x1c is detachable?
I'll probably pick one up when they hit the refurbished market in a year, right now a full grand for the printer and AMS is still beyond what I consider reasonable for my uses.
I am totally new to 3D printing and consider getting a Bambu Lab P1S-Combo. I have a few questions.
1- Can you print with the Bambu Lab P1S-Combo w/o internet or do you have to be connected to "your" account from Bambu Lab?
2- Does the AMS act as a filament dryer or you need a separate unit to keep your filament dry?
3- Can I print a STL file directly?

Im planning to get a P1S with the AMS, question is, can it change color without purging? I just want to print rainbow colored planters, and don't mind the color mixing when it changes color, a slow and gradual color shift will make the planter looks cool actually.

I have a P1S without AMS as I dont have a need for color changes nor want to sacrifice the space that the AMS takes up. I have had it for 8 months and I have yet to clean the build plate, every print sticks great and comes off really nicely. I had a Artillery Genius before, lots of levelling/1st layer issues.
This printer is on another level, they behave like a microwave; set and forget - I have not had a single failed print since day one (I only print PLA). Which is the reason why they are so populair. Really happy with it. Note that you need change the max volumetric speed if you are using a "standard" PLA profile (12mm3) - set it to 20 and the speed goes up dramatically while print quality remains the same - requires some calibration to make sure it works.
AMS is also useful for using up an entire spool of filament. You can have the machine auto pull from the next spool once the current one runs out mid print.
I got the ams even tho I don't do color prints. The ams saves me from having to change filament if I want to print something in different colors. I can make a white part, pull it off and bring a black part right after.
I was back and forth between the A1 mini with the ams lite until I saw abs was an issue. I don't plan to start there but I don't want to have 6 printers as I progress. Think this will be my starting point.
Nice review! PS1 looks as a very good option for my future printer :) Generally Bamboo seems to make it easier for the user

Thanks for the review ! I currently have an A1 mini but I think I'm gonna buy a P1S with AMS. The P1S with the AMS costs 1000€ and the P1P with the AMS costs 1010€. I think that's a good price for uch a good printer with the capability to print Multi Material / Multi Colour.

I've followed your advice and ordered an Elegoo Saturn 4 Ultra and a Bambu P1S Combo. Since these will be my first 3D printers, I'll be back to your videos, picking your brain for advice I'm sure!
Got one of these for black friday for €100 off and they threw in a couple of kg of random filament. Pretty good deal. So far printer has been pretty reliable although I used some old filament in it that unhelpfully snapped right in a place I had to disassemble the entire print head and remove the original nozzle to fix. There is something to be said for bowden setups when this happens and all you need to do is push filament through to clear the snap. AMS is simple to use, that it's easy to forget what a PITA it is to manually change filaments. It does poop a lot of plastic though and I wish the slicer profile would incorporate some of the poop reduction techniques people have come up with.
I think the support from Bambu just ruins me on the other companies Support. I look a the GK two support love the printer but there support is just not there. By the way I sold my Anycubic M5s boat anchor for $200. I love the screen on the X1 carbon but with the app you don’t really need that screen. The x1 screen make it easier to use at the printer which is important to me but the next one I’ll buy is the P1P just because of the AMS, that’s a maybe lol. As alway great video, I love the stock videos on because it helps put your point of view across. Thanks as always B

I want to get into 3D printing and I've been saving up for a P1S. I think It bears mentioning that while you can turn a P1P into a P1S, the upgrade kit for the P1P turns out making it more expensive than getting the P1S outright.

Says it is busy with another task. Making me have to shut the p1s completely off for like 10 seconds, i turn it back on and it works fine..

Almost went with the P1S but opted for the A1 with AMS lite instead which i have been super happy with untill the rear heatbed cable issue.
Might be worth some A1 users returning their faulty units and upgrading to the P1S instead as i can see a long wait ahead with no printer at all whilst Bambu Lab get a grip of the situation.
I heard about that issue, didnt they fix it?
@@FauxHammer They've stopped A1 sales right now. Got 2 options for those with the cord problem, fix it your self with the parts they supply and get compensation or get a replacement printer for those that don't want to DIY. Those without the cord issue will either get sent a part that they can install for more strain relief or if you need it ASAP you can download and print it yourself. It's in their blog.

I bought the X1C because of my specific needs and was able to justify the price, but I would have been just as happy (for the most part) with the P1S. I had about 1 year experience with and Ender 3, however I found I didn't really need all that much of the experience in order to print very high quality reliable prints straight out of the box.
Last question from me. Don’t know if you want to answer it or not..would you take the chance to “upgrade” given the voucher and could stump up the difference for the P1s over the A1

Ordered one this morning and can’t wait! One thing I don’t understand is when people call some printers “great for beginners”, because every beginner wants the same thing as veterans for this type of product; prints well and quickly, and will need little maintenance. That’s not a good beginner printer, that’s just a good printer

Absolutely yes. In fact the A1’s are quieter and moisture isn’t that big of a deal with PLA. If you find it is, simply buy a spool dryer to use frequently. I have a mini and at work we just got an A1.

Hmmmm, it makes me think about getting a P1S combo instead of waiting till May for the A1 combo. Buuuuut, thats 400€ difference.
Humidity is, in my head, a pain in the ass, so AMS would bring peace to my head, but is that rly needed?
Enclosure and the more compact baseplate movement is sexy, also i may would not need to by an Ikea (Smarstad) wardrobe to cover up the open A1...would save 215€...
(Open A1 is a waste of space to me, AMS lite cable stuff is nasty, and also it's vulnerable to dust and temperature changes.)
So maybe the question is, what benefits i miss from the A1? How much do i need the screen in the end? How is the difference in nozzle change etc. in real life?

I finally decided to buy the P1s combo. I gave up on my Ender 3v2. After several stays of execution. I finally gave up when the printer decided to boot up in Chinese mode and just plain refused to work. Weirdly I hadn't changed a thing?? Actually, If im honest I think it wanted to pass peacefully.
So, good news for me because its another gadget. The Ender will now be reborn as a laser module cutter. A part of me thinks it probably wont last long.
I'm now very much looking forward to a print & go experience. Fingers crossed I can now be getting on with my life.

Don't do it you will be broke from all the filament you buy and get in trouble from the wife for all the time you don't spend with her because you are researching constantly things to print.

Bought an X1 Carbon Combo Saturday. It is my fifth FDM printer. Wanhoa D6, Ender 5 Pro, Ender 2 Pro, FLSun SR with Speeder Pad in that order. If it had been my first I'd have a stable of Bambu machines by now. It's freaking amazing. I'll be very unlikely to buy a different brand for quite some time. Though it seems Creality K1 series is getting closer to this level of plug-and-play.We shall see.
The sticker thing is for the replacement build plate sheets you get with the X1-Carbon, I think. Mine came with two replacement surfaces to apply with you wear out the ones applied to the build plate.
Just get the textured PEI plate and never look back. From my admittedly short experience (a couple of weeks) with the K1 Max, it is the only current gen printer that competes with the Bambu's. Not on polish, but on performance. I hated the QIDI X Max 3 and was only too glad to replace it. I'm struggling with the Kobra 2 Max which seems to go from one broke state to another without much printing in between. But the three Bambus (one very new) keep soldiering on and the K1 is right there with them.

If you need to take off the glass lead off when printing with PLA , does it mean that I also need to remove the AMS module and put it somewhere else?
I actually printed an AMS rider which comes with a shelf so you can have the glass on top or raised slightly above to leave a gap
Could you put a link to that filament swatches box in?
Worth noting that most engineering materials are quite abrasive to print and you really should upgrade the gears, etc on the P1S/P1P to the hardened kit bambu sells
Though I guess if you don't you'll have to after not to long anyway once they wear down
Think I will be upgrading to the P1s now I need to return my A1. How does this work when printing pla ? Do you have to take the ams off to leave the lid open ?

Id rather wait for the phrozen arco or bambus next announcement on the 5th of feb.
256mm bed is pretty small esp if you want to start making props.
I'm getting the Arco when it;s ready, still in dev stage, but I've seen some preview shots which I like.
@@FauxHammer thankfully its flying gantry! Ive been in talks, it seems good and the ams is a heated dryer too. But hopefully specs on paper to product it works well it even has a external filtration

I guess my problem with picking up a P1S over the X1-C is it feels like the X1 would be more future proof haha. Although at the rate Bambu is moving the X1 may not be as safe so P1S may be more future proof. One other thing i struggle to want t pick up a Bambu because this everyone one else is now. Not sure that make any sense. are there any other brands that do as good. K1Max or maybe the Max3 ?

I am a new subscriber of your channel. I want to buy an A1 ( my first 3d printer) after watching one of your videos however My family ( wife and 12y son) is very sensitive to smells, chemical vapors, allergens, and micro particles in the air. I live in TX and the relative humidity inside on my house is 60% and outside is about 70% to 90%.
Do you know any health issues that result from melting the filaments on the 3D printer ( smells, VOC, microparticles) ?

You know, my old ABS printer (a very modified Anycubic Mega S with an enclosure) is getting very tired.
Maybe I should replace it with the P1S combo and make it my new ABS and multicolor printer.
I was considering getting an A1 combo but this would be 2 birds 1 stone.
If only there was a helmet class version I wouldn't even have to think about it. Cheers!

I have used a resin printer for over two years now, but have been thinking of getting an fdm printer for a while. My main reason is for practical printing as well as wargaming accessories. Still unsure what would be best for me, as i am like you and don't want to tinker, so the bamboo labs printers have caught my eye, but i have a few questions. 1. Does the P1S require an internet connection to function? (WIll it refuse to print/operate without one). 2. Does it also require an app? (does it have features that are only accessible through an app). 3. It features a camera for timelapses and checking prints, but can it also detect print failures and cancel the print in the event of one?. and finally, 4. With the enclosure and filters, would this printer be safe printing while someone is in the same small room as it for long periods of time?
Sorry for the long comment, i just want to ensure i am getting the right printer 1st time. Thanks for the informative videos. :)
No worries
Without Internet you loose the ability to send prints to it remotely over WiFi. But you can still print by sending files to an as card and popping that in.
It can detect some issues but not everything, but it rarely has issues after the base layer is down. The only issue I had was filament run out or jam, and it detects those

Nice to have as an option but i would rather not have a “always connected to home base” sort of printer that can be updated firmware wise automatically for better or worse. I think i may go for the p1s as so far it seems the best in terms of an appliance that does a job well and future proofing where filament choice is concerned. 😊 thanks again.
All printers give of fumes and microparticles. We're melting plastic after all. I wouldn't recommend being in the same room unless it's well ventilated to the outside.
So I live in Phoenix, Arizona where humidity is like 20% or less. Do I have to worry about moisture levels?
