    Aaron you can grab an unlimited supply of OE interior screws at the U-Pull U-Pay lots in Denver and Aurora. I have a ton now.

      Fortunately, none of my unusual ones were missing or rusty. The standard shorties got replaced with a bag of NAPA shelf stock.

    Good makeover👍.
    I myself will be doing a rear seat delete. From watching your video, I will now have to rethink my original design. You gave me a different (better) idea for the seat delete. The bottom part will still be eliminated. The back rest will be disassemble and scavenged for parts to allow it to be flush with the rear cargo area, but still allow me to lift it up to allow me to have accessible storage in the rear foot well for recovery gear, tools or whatever.
    My kids are grown and living their own life. I go out on hosted adventure events with others once in a while, but is just me in the XJ. The rear will have a build in for camping gear storage. Along the way, I will attempt to do a DIY camp trailer to haul behind the XJ.
    I'm glad you showed how to remove the dash. I will have to remove mine to replace the heater core. While I have the dash out, I might as well replace the evap core, clean all the dash components, replace the crappy vent seals. I will also take out the carpet to do a good cleaning, install sound deadener all the way up the firewall (under the dash). I already have the headliner material, just have not done it yet. I will also install sound deadener on the roof (and anywhere else I can get to when I have access). I have more things I'll be doing to my XJ when I have the funding to get things for repairs, replacements, mods or upgrades.

    Awesome,
    Would love to see pictures of your interior and doors and trim. I'm thinking about painting the bottom half of my dashboard, trim, and doors with tan bedliner paint.
    Thanks for sharing.

    Your videos are so great to follow along and you explain things very well. What year Grand Cherokees do the front seats work in an XJ?

      First Gen "ZJ," sold from '93-98. The one with rectangular headlight fixtures. I don't know what fitment changes occurred in later years.

    An xj with pretty much no rust yet the fenders and quarter panels are all hacked for pretty much no reason. It's not really lifted and the tires aren't big enough that it needed to be done.

      You'll have to tell that to the previous, previous owner. I'm just working with what I bought back at the start of 2021. The videos on my channel document about 70% of what I had to do to get this XJ into reliable condition, without which it probably would have been scrapped by someone with less patience to fully disassemble and refurbish it (the wiring alone was close to a total loss). It's currently on a 1-inch "up-country" style lift which, with the 1.25 wheel spacers and cuts, just gives the 31" tires enough clearance to work without going to a taller lift, SYE, long arms, $$$$$$...

    Did you paint your interior trim pieces?

    • @aaronvienot
      @aaronvienot  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Good eye -- yes, I did. I used a khaki color to mimic the tan Chrysler applied to some 97-01 models, and then painted the rest using Rustoleum "Custom Shop" matte black. All panels then had 1-2 coats of SprayMax 2k clear matte (#368-0065). I found that particular black with the clear coat on top takes a very slight turn toward army green, which complements the Orvis Edition seat colors.

      Thank you, I went back through the videos trying to find where you did it with no luck. I really like how it looks, it does not appear green to me at all in the videos.
      I used my plastic welder and some screen repair mesh to fix my cargo area trim. Now I’m interested in possibly paint my trim.

      @@dougj.8288 yeah I haven't really documented that process yet, but for best results, you need a good surface cleaning and and a Scotchbrite scuff, a can of plastic adhesion promoter, and then you go through however many steps of primer, paint, and clear coat you feel you need to get the result you like. Some auto shops and online vendors sell paints that claim to be specific for soft and flexible surfaces.
