    Here is a tip you may need about the ignition in renaults with keyless start and stop. You just put the key in its position and engage 1gear without pressing any pedal and press the start button for 3 to 5 secs without pressing any pedal and here you have a full time ignition. Keep in mind not to take off the key from its place until you're done with your diagnostic. Thanks again for your detailed videos they've been a good help 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

      Ohhh, is that how it's done, I had a Mk1 Ph2 which had a real metal key, not one of these fob things, and my scanner for my Mk3 Ph2 was telling me to PRESS the clutch and press and hold the start stop button for 5sec, which seemed silly if you didn't want to start the car. So, it's 1st gear, no pedals, press and hold start / stop for 5sec. Right, I'll give that a try, when I'm not parked behind someone of course. But I also have a manual handbrake, thankfully...

    Well done. A job very well done. I so wish I had a garage I could get a car into as I've still got a head gasket to do on a Renault Clio. Not so bad working outside in the summer, but a pig during the colder months. I like the way you present these jobs and its interesting watching another like minded individual at work. I'm guessing you are either just up from the midlands or a little further up, which is a shame as we could use my Clio to do a head gasket video. I'm already looking forward to the next one. In the mean time, my kettle needs putting on for a brew of that great British past time of a cuppa of Yorkshire tea. 😀

      It is still coldish in the winter but always a few degrees above outside temp. I try not to use the heaters much now with electric being so expensive. I'm hopeful there will be a few Clio videos before Christmas.

      I was expecting the union to be a little more difficult, I think it went easy on me.

    I was looking for this video for weeks. I had the same problem on Megane Grandtour, again with electronic parking brake. I just wanted to do a simple brake rotor change, but it quickly turned into horror when I couldn't push the piston back. I ended up pushing this piston out of its mounting and changing the inner seals. Worked for a while, but I am having hot brakes again, probably because it seized again. This time I am just replacing the whole calliper and hope it will work.

      Glad the video has helped you. Pretty common with rear brake calipers at this age.
      Refurbishing them can work but usually change the piston too and if the bore is pitted it's scrap. I'm sure changing the caliper will do the job.

      So today I took it to an automechanic and he said that there was a problem with electronic parking brake not winding correctly. I think it was an older problem, because the brake disc I changed had been warped. The problem with overheating is now gone. So I guess with these calipers refurbishing them won't do much, just change it every time...

    Great videos. I had similar issues and also want to bleed all the brakes. What order is it on the scenic 3 ?I assume on UK car off side rear first then near side rear, off side front then near side is that correct?

      Folks in case you wondered (I checked a French video) I was correct.

    Great job as usual 👌
    I have one question regarding the brake fluid flush, is it safe to use a manual pressure bleeder(Sealey VS820) on these cars and if so how much pressure is safe to use? Thanks

      I have not personally on this car, but I fail to see why you couldn't. Renaults manual states 1.5 to under 2 bar is fine but I wouldn't go that high.

    Hi again, can i ask you to do the front brake pads and discs ? there are some vids online but i want to follow your way of doing things. Thank you

      You are in luck. A front pad and discs video on the Scenic will be coming in the next few weeks. I'm just currently editing a video for the Clio timing belt then I will be doing the Scenic.

    If it was a manual parking brake you would screw the piston in, are ECB different ?

    I'm planning to replace the brake pipe on the caliper. What method would you suggest on this type of caliper/epb system for the removal and bleeding? Thanks in advance.

    • @SocketsAndSideburns

      The only consideration will be how rusty the union connecting to the flexi line going over the beam axle is. Really take your time with it. The other issue will be fluid loss. As I mentioned in this video the caliper line is steel coated in rubber so cant be clamped, I would treat the flexi feeding the caliper line the same and use a fluid stop. If you manage to avoid losing to much brake fluid you could bleed how I did in this video.

    • @shankillpilgrim
      @shankillpilgrim 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Managed with minimal fluid loss, thanks to my wife's finger 😅. Good job we changed it when we did as it snapped off the nut on the caliper. All changed, torqued up as best as I could. When bleeding the calipers it's evident it will need a full fluid change but that'll be a job for the summer along with some glowplugs.

    SORRY maybe we are wrong !! ..we thought the rear pistons had to be screwed clockwise back into calliper

    • @SocketsAndSideburns
      @SocketsAndSideburns  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      No not with EPB calipers. The pistons push in after setting the EPB into service position.

    • @yourmamaok
      @yourmamaok 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I'm no expert but I had to wind my pistons back and that's with epb
