  • I travelled across the country to drive the Lowest Cost Tesla for sale online that isn't wrecked. What does this old Tesla feel like? Why does it cost less than $20k? Let's review this Tesla Model S!
    Here is the car I drove. When I rode in it last week it was around $17,900. Looks like the seller has since dropped the price down to $16,195 by the time I'm pushing this video Live.
    Looks like he sold the car so I took down the link here

    I have 2013 Tesla Model S and I’m the second owner. My battery dead around 120000 miles and thought I’d get so much more but it’s original back then. New tech is different. I deal with Tesla with my replacement and was told I could not get the 100kw over my 85kw version. Replaced my battery April 2022 and had to wait over month for the replacement. The only greatest part about waiting was the price of the battery decreased from 23k 😮 to $12.5k so I think I saved whole lot and so glade that happened. The tech also said that the casing from the original pack no longer sealed so if driving in a high flood around would have differently killed it.
    Bought my car back in 2018. Still have free charging after battery replacement so based on the registration

    Owned a 2013 85 and there’s a lot that adds up besides the HV battery replacement. The drive units go like crazy (had three replaced under 100k miles) l, dc to dc converter is expensive and has to be bought used ($2500), mcu2 upgrade should occur as the original does leak ($2k) and last the air suspension. Amazing vehicle to drive, but there’s much more than the HV battery to think about when owning one out of warranty.

    The degradation really depends on your charging habits if you charge to 100% a lot you will cause the degradation even in Mercedes ice cars with a regular 12 volt battery the alternator is turned on at 20% and turns off at 80% to maximize the life of the battery that is how you are supposed to charge any modern battery especially lithium ion

    I have a 2023 model 3 Performance and was given a 2017 Model S 75D as a loaner for a few days and i hated it. It felt like a giant boat old mans car and the interior seemed so outdated compared to mine.
    I did like the big sunroof though, i wish mine had that.
    The only way i could do a Model S is with the newest interior that has the horizontal screen but it would have to be a 2023+ because im not interested in that ridiculous yoke, however i also dont feel its worth literally double what my model 3 Performance cost.

    • @hecticphusion
      @hecticphusion ปีที่แล้ว

      Considering the fact that a new Model S will get nearly 100 more miles than your car on a full charge, is a lot quieter on the interior and had other luxury features compared to the Model 3 and is much more comfortable for rear seat passengers makes it worth the extra $40k. Same thing when you compare an A class mercedes to an S class.

    Let's be real here, the design hasn't remained the same because they were forward thinking. It hasn't changed because it hasn't been updated in too long. The model s desperately needs a styling update, they are starting to look rather dated.

    I’m surprised nobody is suggesting electrified garage or grubber motors to fix the battery, the reason why it’s limited is a bad cell or two. Get it repaired for 3K and you get a good battery for 5-10 years. No need to buy a new one for 15K.

    I don't wanna sound electrophobic or however else I can describe it lol but my 2007 gas powered car still have the same range as it had in 2007. Teslas and electric cars in general are cool but definitely not an ICE cars replacement. That's not eco, that's creating more waste, far more toxic waste than ICE cars would ever make.

    • @Ghost-jy9hk
      @Ghost-jy9hk ปีที่แล้ว

      Same here. I love the idea of electric cars, but this video was like a giant cautionary tale. I don’t think we’re ready quite yet. Not when batteries are as expensive as the entire freaking car like that’s ridiculous.
