- Tesla has an exclusive Border lane on the Mexico border in Texas. Can you drive a Tesla through it even thoguht it is for suppliers? We decide to put it to the test.

Knowing that they had no registration, and instead of doing it another day, they still go ahead and jeopardize their friend's car. They were lucky but who in their right mind decides to go through this?! It's just common sense!

Ok so I’m Mexican and I go to Mexico often and when you guys saw the red light before like the speed bumps you are supposed to stop until you see it becomes green and they would of probably not have stoped you
And then they showed up with an expired high end luxury car with the owner no where in sight.

Driving a car with an expired registration to a Spanish speaking country expecting people to speak English. What could go wrong.
English is considered the international business language used almost everywhere, there was probably at least one person at border patrol that knew English.

You guys must have looked quite suspicious, I've crossed that same border tens of times and have never been asked to get out or open the trunk on either side of the border. It probably also sounded super suspicious to them that the owner was somewhere in Italy. Come on guys.

I think it's pretty self explanatory on how they got a dedicated lane. Lots and lots of money! Honestly probably not as much money as you would think but a lot of money for sure.
A lot less than GM and Ford lobby to politicians to get laws passed in their favor and stunting Tesla every step of the way. Ford and GM spent $5B dollars last year on advertising, 5 billion!!

US and Mexico is risky but its ok if its beside a road, if someone films or visits the border at a random location far from roads or buildings, that might cause trouble (rightfully so, its suspicious)
So what do you think dash cams do through boarders. Just turn off ?

filming at border crossings is frowned upon especially if your so obvious with roof mounted cameras in plain sight. Drug mules and other criminal elements use footage to plan border crossings and use the surveillance footage in an attempt to corrupt boarder officers. Well you can obviously see and understand their concern
@@dalsmith actually you should turn them off while crossing or the officer could retain the dashcam to investigate the footage, I asked the CBP officer myself

@@aakanksh1299 No, you can configure it, that honking saves the video. You normally use the touchscreen to save the video (I think the cam goes back up to about an hour).
You can say save video and it can save 10 minutes

$1.45 USD was the toll charge and the Mexican border patrol officer got close to 1000 pesos. It was a great day for him. Probably took himself and family out to eat and drink 🍻👏🏼
50 bucks is half the price of my bicycle. Oh and the rear shifter's downshift stalk just broke off today.
@@gamingbuildingandcubing5644 Idk what to tell you but the PESO is stronger than the DOLLAR currency right now $50 dollars at PESO rate is at $18.31 thats $915 PESOS as for the PESO rate of $915 into DOLLARS rate is at 19.00 thats $48 dollars when in reality the dollar suppose to be always high at 22.00 Pesos per dollar it has dropped to 18.00 and the PESO has rised to almost 20.00 making the PESO stronger than the DOLLAR and will continúe to get even more stronger this year... $50 use to be $1.100 Pesos now its just $915 thats shows that the DOLLAR has weaken very extremely in such a short period of time.....

I know several people like that who are quite wealthy but driving around with expired registration. I think they just living too busy fast lane lifestyles that they forget to take care of small things like this.

I’ve crossed that bridge several times, and the time someone spends crossing it ultimately depends on USCBP gets cause traffic does get backed up. And not to forget the Border Patrol inspection up the road on I-35. Plus knowing it’s Mexico, whose to stop other non Tesla suppliers from using that lane.
As a San antonian there ain’t no way you making it to Austin from Mexico in 2-3 hours

and that is why you never use a camera set only to record, either have it saving and backing up to the cloud, or get a camera that lets you recover deleted footage like the iPhone does
That was an exciting adventure! Note to self, drive own car and make sure registration is up to date before going into Mexico. But that keep the change for $50 🤣

I live right next to starbase, it’s only a 1 hour drive . I love just a few minutes from the border as well
I took mine to San Filepe and TJ it was fine-had to use a 110v plug to charge though.

As a resident in imperial valley CA I cross daily the border of Calexico CA to mexicali MX what I have seen in mexicali are cars plates expired like California Arizona for some reason the cops of the city are cool with it but it's really weird that the police of mexicali doesn't do anything about it as long that you speak with them they are cool with it

In the Mexican inspections it looks like they ran a stop light, in which you have to wait in order for the light to turn to green, which means you are free to go without interacting with the Mexican officers or red with an alarm, which means you have to stop and they will search the car for contraband

Next time you go to Mexico, make sure you have the owner of the car with you. if you travel farther into Mexico, you’ll need a permit since your car is registered in another country. Permits usually Cost around $400, but you get the money back when you return the permit. When the red light turned on, you SHOULD of stopped, they would of asked you a few questions and let you go on your way, it’ll be easier if you had someone who spoke Spanish. And saying that the owner was in another country really makes it suspicious and they think that you’re hiding something. Just be careful out there man, if they see the car the cartels, heck even corrupt police officers could take your car and leave you stranded.

Permits cost about $60 plus a deposit of $200, $300, or $400 depending on the age of the vehicle
That's if you go thru sequend check point not on the border city. you can cross the border without permit and a good insurance cover you also like farmer John or allstate
I wonder if a Tesla would be able to handle roads in central Mexico. Speed bumps (signed and unsigned), cobblestone paved streets, narrow one way streets, & roundabouts.

You can recover deleted footage from the GoPro SD cards using SD card recovery software ($50). Once you delete the footage, do not use the card or you will overwrite the deleted files and make them unrecoverable.

Mexico is pretty sketchy. I live in Southern California and the few times I went to Tijuana I seen a bunch of things that only in that country you’ll get away with.
