Since when the opposite of a vegan is a "meat eater"? Are vegans the same as vegetarians then? Because vegetarians also"don't eat meat" but they're not vegans either.
Well done Ed. Xavier is an beautiful & intelligent person. Far more mature than many twice his age. He listened & responded honestly & thoughtfully. I do believe he will make the shift. Even if incrementally. The way you advocate allows others the space to be far more open & less defensive. I've been vegan for 9.4 years now & my only regret is the one we all share... 💚🌿💚
These conversations give me hope. Ed being so wonderfully logical and respectful and his conversation partner actually being open to uneasy change that is ultimately better for the animals and the earth. Hats off.
This guy emanates signals that he is a kind person who just hasn't really thought deeply about the food choices he makes and the effects they actually cause. Imagine the good that could be done if someone like him became a vegan and spread the vegan message with his calm and kind demeanor. He could make more than a small dent in reducing the suffering out there.
I didn't even transition I started straight away at 12. My aunt was a registered dietitian so it made it easier to get all my nutrients. At the beginning I missed dairy, I didn't even miss the meat, poultry, deli and fish. I got used to it. Today it is so much easier to be vegan. There are a tonne of options and many restaurants offer it in their menu. When I started 30 years ago there was basically not much. There were no faux meats or cheeses. I didn't even get to try tofu until I went to uni. In uni I met so many foreigners who eat plants based on high holidays or were vegetarians. That's when I explored more different vegan foods. Today I have more variety than I did when I started this path. It's amazing how far veganism has gone.
I’d love to see an update of these people you have conversations with. And seeing if they did actually consider making any changes and if they did, what did they struggle with or what mind shift do they have? Also, I would love to see having such people being paired up with “Vegan mentors”. I love that Ed is suggesting just making swaps day by day -makes it so much more appealing , and more preferably intriguing. less judgment probably felt by the opposition is key 🔑
2 hardest things are getting people to listen and then getting them to act on their beliefs; he's at the tipping point and just needs to put his actions in accordance with beliefs.

another important point to make regarding "one person won't change anything" is that it changes a lot for the animals not being tortured and killed on your behalf
I thought this too when I went lacto vegatarian, I've recently gone fully vegan after reaserching what happens to dairy cows. I may not have a huge impact but I have saved countless animals by not funding the killing of those animals
I have to assume Ed has more conversations like this than he shows. He must speak to dozens or even hundreds of people when he sets up his tables, and obviously not ever single one of those conversations gets uploaded as a video. But its these sorts of conversations where the information and the sentiments actually seem to be getting absorbed and internalized that I think are important for some of us to not feel like all hope is lost. Most videos where Ed speaks to people sound like the words he's saying are just bouncing off of a brick wall, and I'm sure those videos do relatively decent numbers as well, but it is really encouraging to see more conversations like these I think. If for no other reason than just feeling like the effort to have these conversations ourselves is worth it.
What I like here, is the suggestion to not necessarily go “cold turkey” on eating animal products, but to take it day by day and replace with a vegan option when you can. This approach is much more reasonable, and doesn’t sound like all or nothing making people kick themselves when they accidentally or on purpose eat something with animal products and it also doesn’t make someone feel the pressure of making such a change perfectly. Just do the best you can ❤
Ed has steadfastly with his blueprint of approaching;educating people ;and actually refined it to simple perfection .the points he regularly makes are ones I would’ve never gotten to specifically been able to conceptualize and imagine each animals as so individual when choosing a food . Becomes lot easier /simple .I also like the fact that once you get to 80 or 90% there’s almost easier to go all in like might as well less back-and-forth with their taste buds and mind… However sometimes it’s just so challenging to stay steadfast in those ideas and thoughts to consciously put at the forefront of one’s mind every day which has its positives and it’s distractions/disressors
Albert Einstein was quoted as saying that non resistance to change is a sign of intelligence. This is definitely one of Ed's more 'chilled' conversations 🙂
Year ago I changed (prior that I was a heavy meat eater all my life) all my self-made meals to vegan, but I wasn't strong enough to say no to meat offered in family dinners or restaurants. However, 4 months ago I started Solid Food Vacation by John Rose and I now know that I am able to say no to anything involving suffering of sentient beings for the rest of my days. Strongly recommend anyone to give it a try.
Immorality is just a tool to control your emotions 😂 . Also you don't see wild animals judging other animals on what they eat . Plus you don't see opportunistic herbivores in nature only carnivores. An example would be deer eating rabbits.
@CosmicawarenessCitizen Do you mean that moral shouldn't be used to determine are our actions right or wrong regarding A) anything B) eating C) animals?
@miikkapyykkonen7306 You should have your own principles and morals and not something that the world tells you . If eating animals is immoral then that's just a way to guilt trip you after all we humans are designed to eat animals and wild animals do the same . I bet you we could communicate with wild animals humans will try to convince those animals to be vegan or something like that because of "immorality" . If you believe it's immoral to eat to optimize your health then that's on you. Agricole revolution shrunk our jaws and made us have teeth issues along the way ! Keep being vegan but just so you know veganism kills more animals than carnivores but the catch is they won't reveal that to you unless you look for it. Finally they are toxins called phytotoxins in fruits and vegetables which are inherently harmful for human consumption. Do you wonder why with some fruits or vegetables you feel bloated ? That's your body telling you something's wrong !
@@CosmicawarenessCitizen Can you answer to my question, please? Doing comparative analysis of humans vs carnivore, omnivore, herbivore and fruit eater shows that our anatomy regarding gastrointernal tract resembles overwhelmingly that of the fruit eater. Pre-vegan questions: If you could continue to enjoy delicious and nutritious meals without harming animals, would you consider making a change? What do you think would be the biggest challenge in moving away from animal products? How might you overcome it?
1. No because it is not just about the taste but the nutrients one may miss by going vegan 2.The biggest challenge would be the lost calcium, omega 3 fatty acids, B12 and collagen
@@exposethetruthrightnow just take a b12 supplement. They give supplements to farm animals and then you eat the animals, so you'll be taking supplements one way or another
@@exposethetruthrightnow Many plant foods are very rich in calcium, B12 is from bacteria and archaea the animals don't produce it, EPA and DHA are found in fish through algae they consume and we can consume the same algae or produce our own from other Omega-3 precursors and we synthesize our own collagen from precursors.
@@exposethetruthrightnow Collagen is a peptide; consuming the constituent parts (general amino acids) or collagen itself are equivalent. There's no reason to prioritise dietary collagen literally at all.

Human's hearts might bleed metaphorically.. But animal's hearts are actually bleeding, bleeding tons and tons of blood, from countless butchered hearts.. Anyone who doesn't care, has no heart.
I love that idea of simple replacements of foods you already like. In my case though, my favorite food is the food I’ve never tired before. I love trying new food, so going vegan has allowed me to try a lot of new foods.
That was a really nice way of being in that conversation, although I think by the end you can tell the body language changes a bit to more tense and closed. I think it should be encouraged if people take steps to lower their impact, so after someone says they'll go from daily consumption to monthly, I would cheer that on, rather than immediately "criticising" it. I think that's what causes defensiveness, the feeling that it's all or nothing. I believe in improvement and slow steps. Fyi, I am a vegan myself and have been for years, so I'm not talking about myself :)

What an honest guy he was 😊
I could cry!!! 😭 Xavier seems such a lovely man…he was sitting there thinking so thoughtfully about every one of Ed’s amazing comments. Xavier, if you’re reading this: ‘your body is a garden, not a grave yard’ - nourish your body and mind by eating beautiful colourful vegan food. ❤

It's refreshing to see a meat eater willing to engage in intelligent conversation and introspection. I hope he can tune into all the AMAZING vegan chefs out there and that he doesn't have to give up ANYTHING - come on over, the food is AWESOME on our side!!
Since when the opposite of a vegan is a "meat eater"? Are vegans the same as vegetarians then? Because vegetarians also"don't eat meat" but they're not vegans either.
Kudos to this guy for his honesty and open-mindedness!
I agree.
So you can't be kind if you're not vegan??

Awesome interview.
Very wholesome indeed! 💚
So it can be that simple, and it should
just such a cool, open minded, compassionate and smart guy!!!

That's a great and positive story. Thank you for sharing💚
That was so refreshing to watch ❤ great job as always! 💪
I’d love to see an update of these people you have conversations with. And seeing if they did actually consider making any changes and if they did, what did they struggle with or what mind shift do they have? Also, I would love to see having such people being paired up with “Vegan mentors”. Where it’s not just about what they eat, but deeper conversations about why certain actions better aligned to their beliefs
I would love to see that as well
How refreshing, a meat eater that is honest!
Much love Xavier.
Hope that walking down the vegan path is part of your future, bro!
Beautiful conversation Ed, thank you for this. And to Xavier, thanks for keeping an open mind and i hope your journey to Veganism is going well! :)
We should stop seeing animals as resources immediately and speak in a manner that makes clear that animals are individuals and not things, so therefore they deserve freedom & respect.
And what makes a bunch of matter into an individual?

I wouldn't say he is a carnivore, he eats meat but he looks like he eats a lot of plants too, thankfully he had a high intelligence and could connect-the-dots of common-sense.
I always find these videos to be very interesting. ❤
Loved this conversation. One can tell Xavier is a smart young man, whose mind is clearly moral but finds the societal aspect difficult to overcome, and that’s ok! Bit by bit make small adjustments until you can look at yourself and feel complete peace ☮️
Also Ed’s EI is second to none, always able to get the point across whilst somehow not going crazy
He has the soul of a vegan. It will happen. Maybe not today or tomorrow, but one day ❤
Joyous conversation. If only every debate could run like this. Sensible, balanced and non confrontational. I think those animals have a chance here 🐷🐥🐄
Finally someone who is open minded and not just there to argue 🥹
Seems like a sweet kid. At least he was honest.
Someone honest for a change, how refreshing
Such a great conversation! He sounds like someone who genuinely wants to make positive changes so I hope he becomes vegan one day! ✌
Excellent interview, love the non aggressive honesty...
I still can't understand tho how with seeing and knowing the horror, one can continue on the same way.
I was so freaked out watching a couple of slaughter videos I gave away all the animal products that same day and cried for days having not searched for this info sooner...
Same. I saw about 10 minutes of Earthlings, and it was literally INSTANT for me. I cried and got rid of everything non vegan in the house and started the next morning fresh, k owing I wasn't going to ever contribute to animal pain purposely unnecessarily again
@7drunkenmermaids431 the guy in the video seems so sensitive, but I guess there's so many other variables in play that affect one so deeply...?
I love that Ed is suggesting just making swaps day by day -makes it so much more appealing , and more preferably intriguing. less judgment probably felt by the opposition is key 🔑
Xavier thank u for being open minded ! I love how Ed is so understanding of other people perspectives of choosing to eat meat.
So good to hear calm, honest, non-combative dialogue.
wow, thqt was the best approach that you did Ed!! You are the man !!
He did great like alays, but this guy is genuine and actually open minded and it's such a great combo to see!!

Thank you for being here to help the animals. I appreciate you.
@@ThatVeganTeacherTH-cam I mirror that back to you. Best wishes 👍
2 hardest things are getting people to listen and then getting them to act on their beliefs; he's at the tipping point and just needs to put his actions in accordance with beliefs.
Vegan almost 5 years ago now thanks to you Ed.😁🌿👍👋❤️❤️
Thanks for being here. What do you think about this? ⬇
🟢 DO ANIMALS DESERVE RIGHTS? Animals are sentient beings with inherent value and the right to live free from human exploitation, including practices like factory farming and slaughter. And while we do have a right to defend ourselves and our homes from being attacked or invaded, our first response should be to try to live peacefully with animals - not harm them. Question: Do you try to follow the golden rule of treating others, even the weak or less intelligent, the way you want to be treated?
🟡ARE ANIMALS OUR SLAVES? We oppose the enslavement of animals for food, clothing, or entertainment; they deserve freedom and autonomy, just like humans. Are you against slavery?
🟠 SHOULD WE ABOLISH SPECIESISM? Just as we fight against racism or sexism, we must challenge speciesism-the belief that human interests automatically outweigh those of other species. Does it really seem right to pet a cat while eating a cow or does something feel wrong about this?
🔴 SHOULD WE HAVE RESPECT FOR OTHER SENTIENT BEINGS? Animals experience complex emotions such as pain, fear, and joy, so treating them as mere commodities is morally indefensible. Cutting a cat or a cow in half is not the same as cutting a carrot in half, wouldn't you agree?
🟣 DO WE HAVE A DUTY TO BE MORALLY CONSISTENCY? Ethical principles like kindness and non-violence should apply universally to all sentient beings, not just humans. If aliens came to earth and were more powerful than us, we would want them to be kind, not cruel, right? So why aren't we kinder to animals on this planet?
🔵 SHOULD WE STRIVE TO END EXPLOITATIVE INDUSTRIES? Modern society doesn't need animal products, so continuing their use solely for convenience or taste perpetuates unnecessary cruelty and exploitation. Since we don't need to hurt others, isn't it our responsibility to help them?
🟢 DO YOU UNDERSTAND DEONTOLOGY AND UTILITARIANISM? Both deontological ethics (duty-based) and utilitarianism (consequence-based) support ethical veganism. Regardless of where we are on this vegan spectrum, it’s our duty to make sure animals’ rights aren’t violated. It’s not about smaller cages - it’s about having NO cages. Do you agree that we should strive to be as vegan as possible in this world?
➡ WHAT HAPPENS IF YOU SUFFER FROM VYSTOPIA? If you’re suffering from vystopia, (the anguish of being vegan in a non-vegan world), and feeling like you’re a victim of veganphobia (bullying towards ethical vegans) sometimes, writing about it can help. Send me a dm with your story about your family and friends for a book I’m writing or, if you like, write about it here for others to see, if you want to share your experiences. 🌱
what a fresh of breath air that was.
another important point to make regarding "one person won't change anything" is that it changes a lot for the animals not being tortured and killed on your behalf
I thought this too when I went lacto vegatarian, I've recently gone fully vegan after reaserching what happens to dairy cows.
I may not have a huge impact but I have saved countless animals by not funding the killing of those animals
Brilliant. Thank you for your work, Ed!
Great job ed!
I hope he really really thinks about the issues they spoke of and GOES VEGAN
He's a,wonderful fella
He needs to become a speaker ❤
What a lovely person. Xavier, you must be a good friend to have.
Thank you Ed!
This really was such a beautiful conversation on both parts to listen to❤❤
This was pretty much what I sounded like before I became vegan.
Finally someone honest
Thank you ❤
Great video as usual. Wish more people would watch it!
Just do the best you can ❤
This interlocutor is awesome, he’s seems very genuine and well-intentioned
Im 2 min in and already crying just because it’s so refreshing to see someone who’s at least AWARE. He seems around my age and I’m very impressed wow
How delightfully refreshing. Great convo!
Ed, you are the MAN. Another winning convo. THANK YOU. 🙏🏼💖
Veganism is the compassionate choice😊🙏💚🫂🐥🌱
He's obviously a smart and honest person with good empathy! I'm feeling hopeful it gets him further in this and many things.
@CosmicawarenessCitizen Do you mean that moral shouldn't be used to determine are our actions right or wrong regarding
A) anything
B) eating
C) animals?
(This analysis was done first time in Gustav Schlickeysen's 'Fruit and Bread' in 1877.) Check it out if you really are interested in finding out the truth.
@@miikkapyykkonen7306 Morality is a human invention ! There I answered your question. Fatty acids oxidation produce far more ATP than glucose ! It's not normal to feel hungry all the time .
Such a kind thoughtful soul. He will be vegan in less than 3 months.
Ed you are a gem
I’ll never understand the mentality of being so confident that you will never change fully. So confident that you say it online in front of thousands of people.
I think he didn't want to commit to being vegan without being confident that he could do so. Ed's response to that comment was perfect as usual

This was a great video. And this person came with a very open mind, great arguments from his side too. It's important to have these conversations
Pre-vegan questions:
If you could continue to enjoy delicious and nutritious meals without harming animals, would you consider making a change?
What do you think would be the biggest challenge in moving away from animal products? How might you overcome it?
1. No because it is not just about the taste but the nutrients one may miss by going vegan
2.The biggest challenge would be the lost calcium, omega 3 fatty acids, B12 and collagen
So easy to subsidize, not even a challenge at all.@@exposethetruthrightnow

Thank you for what you do Ed
