One of my absolute favorites. I think it's one of Freddie's most hauntingly beautiful songs ever, for sure. And the way he uses his breath in the song? He uses it so intentionally that it's like it's another instrument here. Those gaps in between where it's just breath are beyond incredible.
As other Queen fans have already stated, All of the harmonies are done by freddie alone, Masterfully. It is similar to how the intro of Bohemian Rhapsody is Freddie harmonizing alone and people think it's the whole band harmonizing coz of the on screen visuals. This song my friend, is one of Freddie's Masterpiece, Sweet, delicate and underrated. Pls react to Queen Is This The World We Created, Official Lyrics Version Freddie And Brian's Masterpiece ❤️
Ah, Freddie was such a romantic. And when he was in love, we got the sweetest songs.. When he was heartbroken, we got the saddest, most thoughtful ones. Thank you for your reaction.
Somehow lost in the brilliance of how Queen performed their songs live, was just how good they were in the studio, when they had the chance to overdub, edit, do multiple takes, etc. Thanks for doing this - it's really one of their most beautiful songs, and shows how Freddy wasn't just a great singer - his piano playing is also superb. Thanks for doing this - I've been enjoying your reactions!
Freddie' s voice only. What a " chef d'œuvre " . This song is so Freddie : delicate, magical, enchanting ❤❤❤. Thank for another great reaction Hap. Take care 💞
Great reaction Hap, I appreciate that you describe how what you are hearing makes you feel. This is my favorite song by Queen/Freddie. The piano is so haunting. It is believed this was written for David Minns, the man Freddie lived with after leaving Mary.
Great reaction HAP. This is one of my favorites of FREDDIE'S that he wrote. FREDDIE 'S vocals are unmatched. This song is so beautiful FREDDIE just melts my heart with his voice. Oh yes FREDDIE does make you feel his passion when he sings. Just amazing. FREDDIE takes my breath away no matter what song he is singing. Love to see the emotions HAP. I am so possessive about QUEEN and FREDDIE also. I cant go one day without listening to QUEEN. Thank you HAP. Love your reaction. Love ya my friend. Take care. Your girl QUEEN BEE.
Freddie is often talked about being a fantastic frontman/showman but I think it’s often overlooked by some that he was a brilliant musician. I also think that Queen often don’t get credit by some for their lyrics...when people point at stuff like Bicycle Race, Fat Bottomed Girls, Radio Ga Ga for example....but then they come up with stuff like this, who wants to live forever, show must go on, is this world we created, Show must go on, these are days of our lives etc etc. Just an eclectic band that could do fun & serious stuff with equal aplomb
Just breathtaking!!! That voice- that voice. Never ceases to amaze me. It’s addictive!!! Please do Love of My Life live at Wembley 1986. That will give you a feeling for sure. Nothing short of spectacular.
This song is so magnificent- Freddie’s voice is deeply moving- I could see you shudder Hap. I love that you don’t hide your tears/ Freddie’s voice affects us all on an emotional depth that none of us can really verbalize!! Hap your reaction and your heart are absolutely beautiful! Thank you !
This song is so beautiful - the simplicity at the start of a single voice and piano building to rich layered harmonies all done by Freddie. I love the live version, but this is perfection. The end of the song was as it was recorded, not a bug or fault.
You summed it up when you said it was a gift. All those feelings that came with your first love are right there in that song. Freddie takes us back to our first love..the rush of being so breathless we just know we will die without that person & we will follow them to the end of the earth just to be near them..just to tell them we love them. Freddie knew what Love was..Freddie was Love & thru his music he gives us the gift of Love every time we hear him. Love of My Life is another favorite of mine. I love how you unwrap his gifts. You make Freddie Smile. 😇 Thank You.
I'm so glad you did this reaction! I agree, it is stunningly beautiful! As gorgeous as it was live, I actually prefer the studio track. That beginning! Other songs, like White Queen, I think became something greater live. Ugh! I love it all.
Amazing how many Queen songs that were not big hits are really quit magnificent. So many obscure great song. Just found a gem called Who Needs You, written by John Deacon-fun and upbeat.
This song, especially the studio-version, is just unspeakably beautiful. I cannot think of any other piece of music capturing the feeling of being utterly and completely in love like this one does. Hits you where it hurts.
As noted by others, the harmonizing was all Freddie. And a reminder that John didn't sing -- he'd jump in a few times live, but he didn't sing in any of the studio versions. On live v. studio, Freddie once said in an interview that it was dumb to do live songs the same as the studio version, and if they did, they may as well "prop up cardboard cutouts of ourselves and just play the album." And that people were coming for a show, not just to hear an album.
Correct, John didn't sing (except on a very early live version of Liar with Freddie and a few other early songs). Even when it looked like he was singing into a mike (and he was indeed singing) his mike was turned off as we saw once when Freddie's mike died and Freddie then tried John's mike which, of course, didn't work. Someone else will know when the band made the decision to deactivate John's mike (with his agreement). It was after a particular live audience song when his voice was completely off key.
My friend gave me this song along with a beautiful video all Freddie, as a birthday gift (10/21)! She said it took her awhile to decide on the perfect song and she did. Yes there is at least one song of Queen’s for everyone and every age! This now is my favorite Freddie song. Your tears and face said it all Hap!
I am German, but was a very young student back then attending a school in the UK. After my first "Puppy-DISCO-Night" (8-10pm) I quoted the lyrics to a girl ... we were about 15!? Well, she felt in love with me and I got my first kiss right after the quotation! I guess she thought that i was "talking from my heart" ... haha! I mean: We were standing there, waiting for our parents to fetch us and I looked at her and said: "babe! look into my eyes and you'll see that i am the only one ... etc." ^^++gg haha, good old memories! :-) quite a long time ago!
seeing someone else reacting to the beauty of Queen is oddly satisfying haha it reminds me the very first time i heard their songs too and it was fabulous. As usual... Great Reaction
Love the studio versions, "Nevermore" is just as enchanting & beautiful as it transforms from "The Fairy Fella's Master Stroke". Equally the studio album version of "White Queen" is sheer splendour to the ears.
Thank you very much !!! God, I'm so glad you made a reaction to this song in the studio version. Great song and great Freddie. It remains to make a reaction to the studio version Love of my life and I will be happy.
Hap this is Freddie alone. Beautiful isn’t it? It’s one of my favorite’s. This is a listen only song to me. You can pick apart a song better than anyone I know. You sometimes have a better take on it. ❤️👑👑
still like his solo version better playing the piano telling the audience to listen to him but the harmonies he did on this is truly amazing!Freddie truly was a God of music!
Omg this is so wonderful, I have never think about Freddie dos the harmonies alone. It not suprice me at all, perfectley as always. You give the song out to us, I send it back to you with all my ♥️ in it......you now, and I look until your big brown eyes too.....lol thanks for awazome react Hap
It's a great song, carefully crafted with the twist at the end.. You feel this person is singing an ode to someone they're in love with, but you find when you get to the end ("..to tell you, when I've found you.. I love you." ) that these are feelings and words for someone this person actually hasn't yet met. Simply brilliant.
Others have already said .. Freddie did all intro harmonies.. beautiful ! Sounds like a never ending reverberation of love ... which does tie into your thoughts the heavy sounding instrumentation made the lyrics come across as more intense than similar lyrics earlier in the song. It’s a beautiful love song and feels like it’s being sung from “the bubble” ... you know the one where you fall madly, deeply and hopelessly in love and you can still see and hear the rest of the world but it’s as if it has shrunk back and the only clarity is inside that bubble with the one you love.. rather than being stalkerish it’s because the world only makes sense with your love in it. echoes of such love during that bubble phase never really die no matter what happens to the relationship and forever echo and reverb in the memory. So the ending to me seems totally right. Again a song that everyone hears and interprets differently .
The most beautiful rendition! Music is important to couples. They find a song that’s their song. They play it for their first dance. Whenever they hear it , it brings up an emotion.
I loved this reaction and how emotional it made you. Beautiful You were very detailed and picked up on a lot things I had thought only I noticed. I really enjoyed you.
Such a beautiful song. Strange ending but it goes on a few more seconds & you can hear what is being sung. Another heartfelt song with just Freddie on piano & a bit of multi-track vocal is Dear Freinds but its only 1min 15sec but well worth a reaction.
Freddie and Queen had that capability! This was just Freddie though, he had that ability to capture your attention and keep it and bring you to tears. On the other hand he could rock with the best of them.
Just beautiful!! It’s been awhile since I’ve heard the studio version. The live version is extra special cuz it’s just Freddie & the piano and for some reason he seems a little nervous about singing it. Heard that he wrote this song for that special guy & invited him to the concert so Freddie could sing it to him. 🥺
Great song.....bunny boiler mode 😂😂😂😂🎶🎵🎶🎵 songs and smells can transport a person to an exact time and place.....like the carpenters take me to my first boyfriends car driving to the Raleigh club 😂😂😂 memories are great things 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Of course it’s different! Even Queen couldn’t achieve the same harmonies live. And at Hyde Park it was Freddie showcasing his vocal greatness with a solo version of a song the group hadn’t even recorded yet.
The live version hadn't yet been recorded yet so the other band members took a break and Freddie did it alone because at that time he was the only one that knew the whole song.
Man you should react to friends will be friends live at Budapest 1986 or some other songs in that concert, because his voice is incredibly powerfull and on pitch
For me the most beautiful love song ever composed. It moves me to tears every time I hear it. Thanks for this reaction. Don't forget the reaction of "The loser in the end", not a love song at all but great!
it is a very beautiful ballad! but I prefer the falsetto in hyde park live. it would have been great if freddie had used that falsetto more in the recorded version as well.✊🙋 😂😂😂 I couldn't sing this to my neighbour... Mine it's like in Massive attack's Man next door...
The chorus was all done by Freddie’s vocals overlapped. (You probably know this by now, but nit a lot of people know it. I saw an interview…he did it all himself, every part.) I just love him to death. I love Wueen totally also, but Freddie did a lot if chorus work they couldn’t replicate live, him being the lead singer as well. Roger and Brian added much, ut sometimes it was just Freddie. John, for some reason, didn’t like to sing very often.
Loved your reaction, Hap! I guess the ending of the song is meant to represent the chaos inside his mind. You know, the ups and downs of some intense relationships. Btw, I think Brian had to play the harp for this song, which was a bit complicated because none of them knew how to play the harp, actually, lol. But he did it anyway!!
BUT live takes my breath away. This studio version showcased his artistry but not the passion of the live version. And Hap...you have voiced what Freddie has spoken of in interviews about himself and his relationships with love. You are one in-tune man on emotions...and you have a fan club(:
As Michelle T pointed out, yes, this song was written by Freddie for David Minns who he fell madly in love with & vice versa. But David eventually ended their relationship & broke Freddie's heart after finding out he was cheating on David. He told this to Queen manager John Reid who also verified that Freddie told him he wrote Love of My Life for David as well, not for Mary Austin. Since Freddie kept Mary as a preventative measure so he didn't have to come out as bisexual, he let the world believe it was for Mary. She protected his image due to their unique relationship. But David was, during a 2 year period, the first real love of Freddie's life. It was bad timing & Freddie was touring & away alot so it couldn't sustain Freddie's experimenting. It is an intense love song & I feel so sad for Freddie having had to live a lie since gay & bisexual was NOT ACCEPTED in the 70s & 80s. He was a tormented soul & many of his lyrics are his autobiography.
Love this song, but prefer the live, simple version. About your feeling that the love song turned “possessive”, I have the opposite impression. As a happy newlywed, I worriedly said to my Husband “What if we (my family) hadn’t moved here and we never would have met?!” He replied with a smile “Don’t worry, I would have found you”. That just melted my heart and touches me 40+ years later.
Most people do not notice Brian May's guitar at the top of the harmonies (not all the time. listen carefully to the last part of the intro.). It sustains longer. Shame about the end, its the perfect coda. Loved that one since 1977. No underrating hereabouts. Lots of obscure tracks on albums that are pure magic.
The harmonies in this song are all Freddie multitracking himself! One of my favorite Freddie's songs.
Thank you for the confirmation, I kept thinking it just sounds like Freddie's voice!!!🔥🔥🔥Absolutely beautiful!!!🥰❤️❤️❤️
Even after forty five years, it still give’s me goosebumps, chills and hairs stand up on end! Still one of my favourite ever Queens songs.
One of my absolute favorites. I think it's one of Freddie's most hauntingly beautiful songs ever, for sure. And the way he uses his breath in the song? He uses it so intentionally that it's like it's another instrument here. Those gaps in between where it's just breath are beyond incredible.

Did you listen to an acoustic take of "Who needs you"? It's so adorbale, with John and Freddie talking

I love that 1 aswell especially when freddie and John are talking at the beginning and end. So cute 😊
@@janematthews3394 OMG thank you for this link! I think I've listened to it ten times already. This is precious.
oh yeah, Who Needs You is such a fun song! :-)

Just like the beginning of Bohemian Rhapsody Freddie's beautiful voice in harmony. He was truly a gift from God.
beautiful queen you leave my eyes in smoke Glamorous 😊❤🥰😊👌

It has a slightly medieval quality, a beautiful holy quality. Stained glass.
This song to me is Freddie's best vocal performance. His breath control is incredible.
Thanks Hap, you continue to be fun. I have now also learnt it’s all Freddie and have gained a new appreciation 😍😍

when is there a harp in this song ? as far as i can tell Freddie sings, plays piano and brian plays a guitar solo
There is no harp in this song. The only song Brian played the harp in, is The Prophet's Song from A Night At The Opera album

That’s all Freddie, multi tracked
Wow. Thanks. Sounded like all of then. Guess that video was kind of misleading a little. First glance it seemed like all of them.
For some reason the video cuts off the final ending - you can hear it on the album version - a surprising and beautiful harmony!
This version is better than the live version. Unusual for Queen, but very true.
Nothing was unusual for Queen lol, what they wrote, it was just Queen
Beautiful song & great reaction!!!!
Im glad im not the only one that gets a slight stalker feel at the end of the songs lyrics!
