Sal, you mentioned making it a point going forward to go to see more live bands. I Didn’t know if you had heard that Journey (not with Perry of course, but current singer is excellent) will be touring next spring with Toto. Excellent pairing! Steve Lukather is AMAZING guitarist! Also, this is a clip of Bonamassa covering Tea for One by Zeppelin. Holy Cow it’s good. Hope you’re planning on that Bonamassa concert next February. We’re seeing him next month. th-cam.com/video/ASkxFHw2O3o/w-d-xo.html
Sal, Helene here. I’ve been a sub almost from the beginning i think. I just wanted to say that I think you are a good man….you express kindness, empathy, openness, strength. If I were your parent or grandparent, I would be very proud of the man you became. I’ve wanted to say that for awhile now. I’d sure be proud to be your grandma! 😁✌️
This is one of the best live performances I've ever seen. Its just F**KING AWESOME!! Crowd was talking at beginning, and within seconds everyone was hypnotized by greatness
It’s indescribable what an incredible voice Freddie has in so many ways, so feeling, moving, passionate, his tone and perfeection mnever been another voice to equal. He lifts a listener to heights never experienced , estascy!!!
This man held up 1 finger.... gave the audience a serious quick glance...and everyone STFU. Now, that is a perfect blend of power, confidence and passion. I just ADORE this guy. 💎🔥❤️
The sheer courage it takes to communicate to a boisterous crowd something as beautiful artistic and fragile as this is beyond me. Only Freddie in the whole world could have pulled this off and stunned the audience into silence. His voice and piano playing are not of this world.
No matter how many times I hear this song and watch him sing it. It goes straight to my soul. We all have people in our lives that we have loved more than ourselves and wish that that love had never gone away. This is exactly what Freddie was singing about, this song is just brilliant. It captures the essence of pure love.
Let’s just soak this in .. Freddie putting it all out there .. performing a song not yet recorded for that special someone who attended the concert!! He’s confident yet vulnerable .. no wonder we fall in love with Freddie over & over again!! Love this performance! ❤
Freddie was a crooner at heart. Trying to sing a soft piano ballad to a festival crowd that you’ve been blasting with loud acid rock is quite a feat. Very courageous. Go Freddie
Freddie was a COSMIC FORCE in human form....an intergalactic being who spread his power across this entire planet... and then left us to ponder what we saw/heard/experienced. Not to mention....he was fkkn HYPNOTIC to look at...omg. 💎💎💎💎💎
Salvo, so love your response to "You Take My Breath Away." I've been a Queen fan and a Freddie Mercury fan since 1974 college days. Freddie always performs/sings/executes each note, each word, each lyric with passion and fervor. You can see and hear Freddie bare his soul, heart, and body in every song he sings starting at "Queen I" all the way to "Innuendo".and "Made In Heaven". Even without his band mates, Freddie, despite being ill, gave the passionate triumphant performance of a lifetime with opera singer, Montserrat Caballe, on the album/CD, "Barcelona." Salvo, if you ever have the opportunity to listen to "Barcelona", you will hear a side of Freddie Mercury that will leave you in awe, give you goose bumps, and leave you speechless. Thank you for your reviews. You've brought much joy to an older rocker chick.
Thank you for the excellent reactions, with which you also open the knowledge of Freddie's greatness to the rest of us... May God bless everyone, everything is His gift.
It does not matter how many times I listen to Freddie's voice and a certain song, it's chicken skin and shivers on a daily basis. Just magic. Thank you for your heartfelt reaction.☮
I've never heard an artist say 'You gotta listen to this one.' or anything close to that before they perform a song. I was fortunate enough to see Queen and Billy Squier live when I was a teenager. This was incredible.
Yes, I love how he always has a "one on one" conversation with 100-some-odd thousand potentially-rowdy concert goers.🥰 (You were SO lucky to see them, live!)
This is such a sweet, vulnerable, haunting, and gorgeous song. I've loved it for decades. It well captures the feeling one has when one is hopelessly and utterly in love with everything about another person. This simple performance of it is brilliant. The song and the performance needed nothing else. That was a special and beautiful moment created by Freddie and he very respectfully told the audience to be quiet and listen. Audiences should anyway if they have an ounce of respect for the artist but he requested it as a professional and as someone who really wanted to share this special gift as if to say, "This means so much to me and I want you to hear it. Please let me give a piece of myself to you and don't trivialize this." Kudos to the audience for doing it, especially after the finger went up.
This could not be more beautiful, just Freddie and his piano. The song was so new that the rest of the band did not know it yet so Freddie did it as a solo at this performance. Thank you for your reaction.
Wow, I knew the album version since decades, but somehow I never heard this live. It's quite different and sound here so personnal. He really pour his emotions into it, and it's at the time simplier sounding, but to me, far better than the album version, which was already Queen level good, but somehow, never moved me like this live version. To know it's actually the first time it's played for an audience is mindblowing ! Thanks for sharing !
The fact that Freddy pulled this off live is quite amazing. As great as Freddy was, his vocal range live wasn’t nearly what it was on the album. Mostly due to heavy smoking and partying. The studio version of this song and love of my life are abs triumphs. BUT this actual performance of this song is one for the ages. Freddie’s live voice was still in tact in the 70s where he could nail his entire range. And he absolutely hits it out of the park here. What a chilling performance.
The depth of Freddie’s love. I love to cruise utube and find reactions to this version. Most reactors go through the entire song without a pause, because they get absorbed by his voice and lyrics. It’s OK… I shed a tear every time I listen to it too!
Thank you for your reaction to this beautiful, emotional song - young Freddie composing and singing and playing the piano (with no formal training!) with his heart on his sleeve. I just can't resist that VOICE! I love all Queen songs. But I have a special fondness for the ballads they composed throughout all their years together regardless of who in the band wrote them. That was the magic that was Queen - every multi-talented member was encouraged to bring their ideas to the studio and they worked as a solid unit to produce their albums and deliver their unique sound to all of us. Some of my favorite live performances from later on in their career are "Who Wants to Live Forever" (I recommend the live version in Budapest, 1986 though the studio version is remarkable as well), "Is This the World We Created" (live version from Rock in Rio, Brazil, 1985), "Love of My Life" (live at Wembley, 1985 or at the finale of Live Aid, Wembley, 1985) - and the list goes on! So many! But remember, Queen could rock your socks off as well. Some of my favorites from the early years are "Sons and Daughters", "Flick of the Wrist", "Dragon Attack", "Stone Cold Crazy"; and, from the later years, "Tie Your Mother Down" (Montreal, 1981), "Somebody to Love" (the live performance in Montreal, 1981 was FANTASTIC...I know that because I was there!!! How lucky was I?). And I have 50 more recommendations when you finish these! Don't be too surprised if every song becomes your favorite after you listen to it - it comes with the territory. Welcome to Queen!
u got exactly my feelings there 😘every time i listen to this song i cry ! he silenced this noisy crowd with his crystal clear n wonderfull voice freddie forever
This is my favorite song, it was so amazing...i cant think of another song where Freddie puts his heart and soul into a song. This is a much better pared down arrangement than appeared on their album. Thank you Sal.
"I had to take a second there.. to wipe my eyes." Queen has some beautifully touching ballads and this is one of my favourites. 'So it goes' by Billy Joel is another song that feels like the singer/songwriter is pouring their heart and soul into the lyrics.
Fantastic live version. If you listen to the album version, with backing vocals, always makes the hair on the back of your neck stand. It’s been a largely hidden gem for Queen fans for years, it’s lovely to see your reaction to a first time listening.
Always gives me chills…..so beautiful. I think it would take a lot of courage to perform a newly written song that had not yet been recorded in front of a huge audience, but Freddie does it seamlessly and as always, had complete control of the crowd. Thanks for reacting to this one.
Hi Sal, I really appreciate that you take time to learn about the songs and the band members. So many reactors will watch Queen and have no idea who they are. I heard someone keep referring to Freddie and calling him Queen. Anyway, here is a list of Queen songs if you’d like to add them to your list More Queen please!!! - Somebody To Love - Live 1981 Montreal - Bohemian Rhapsody Official video and live - Under Pressure - live at Wembley - Now I’m Here - live at Wembley - Stone Cold Crazy - live at the Rainbow) - Liar - You’re My Best Friend (Official Video) - Cool Cat - One Vision extended version or 15 minute documentary showing the band in the studio recording the song - We Are The Champions Live - We Will Rock You live - Doin’ Alright - live Earls Court 1977 - Who wants to live forever - live at Wembley and official video (with orchestra and choir) - Don’t Stop me Now Official video - I Want it All official video - A Kind Of Magic live at Wembley - Live Aid Charity concert 1985 - Love of My Life live at Wembley or Rock in Rio with 350,000 + Brazilians singing the song to Freddie (each version is different but so good) - Spread Your Wings Official video - Seven Seas of Rhye - The Show Must Go On - Seaside Rendezvous (30th anniversary video) - Good Old Fashioned lover boy - Killer Queen - Headlong (Official video) - Innuendo - I’m In Love With My Car live - The Days Of Our Lives - Thank God it’s Christmas (Official video) - Keep Yourself Alive - live at the Rainbow - It’s Late (Official video) - The Miracle (Official Video) - Princes of the Universe - I’m Going Slightly Mad - One year of love - No One But You (Brian wrote this as a tribute after Freddie passed. He and Roger are on vocals. People always talk about Freddie’s voice, but they can also sing really well.)
I've never heard this one before, so thanks for that! Don't know who it was written for, but the equally beautiful Love of My Life was written for Mary.
I've been enjoying your Queen reactions. I'd love to see you do their set at Live Aid (85). Concerts held in London and Philadelphia at the same time and broadcast to a worldwide audience, with pretty much every major band performing, to raise money for famine relief in Ethiopia. Each band got 20 minutes, and it is generally agreed that Queen not only stole the show but is still widely considered the greatest rock performance of all time. Absolute fire from start to finish.
This version is so beautiful - really highlights just how amazing Freddie's voice is!! I would highly recommend listening to the album version - it's still the same piano, but it adds some wonderful guitar from Brian, AND the harmonies, oh the harmonies! How they blend with Freddie's soulful, mourning vox is unparalleled!! You definitely need to check out their ode to the Japanese people in Teo Torriatte (Let Us Cling Together). They learned the language just to honour their legions of fans over in Japan!
Wembley LLIVE 1986: Who Wants to Live Forever; Love of My Life.........and a favorite of his family's after his passing: A Winter's Tale. He was in his home in Switzerland where Queen had a studio......his AIDS was taking his eyesight; it was winter and the last time he was ever there......he knew he didn't have much time but the beauty he saw from his window prompted him to write this in longhand..........it is sooo beautiful..........His second to last recording..........The Show Must Go On.........a m a z i n g. And, of course Someone to Love Live in Montreal 1981........unforgettable..........and LIVE AID 1985.
Sir- you have won me over- you said more than many others can say to describe this song and the way it emanates from Freddie’s soul- thankyou for your reaction- bravo
My first concert was Queen at The Spectrum 11. 23.77, almost exactly 45 years since my first time seeing Queen with Freddie , and 31 years since Freddie made his public announcement the day before he passed away.😞
Loved the honest reaction. Now you’ll want to do the studio version so you can hear the beautiful guitar orchestrations and the mind-bending vocal outro that got added on. Amazing song.
Someone probably told you this already but just in case: Dr. Brian May: Lead guitar/back up vocals/piano sometimes. Dr of Astrophysics. Studied reflected light from interplanetary dust and the velocity of dust in the plane of the Solar System. Has worked with NASA. Made his guitar, with his father when he was around 17. It's called "The Red Special" Still plays it to this day at 74. Roger Taylor: Drums/back up vocals. Has a BS in biology. John Deacon: Bass guitar. Degree in Electronics. Inverter of the Deacy amp (which Brian uses to this day) Sadly John had a bit of a breakdown after Freddie's death and only performed with the rest of the band a 3 times after. He is only involved in the financial side through his attorney. He's been pretty much a recluse. Every member has written hit songs. All but John had singing talent where they could of had their own bands and been a success but put them all together and you have QUEEN! Remember. NO auto tune. No tricks. Pure talent! You can't put Queen in a box as far as genre. There is no box! Song suggestions for a hint of who they are. You have a deep rabbit hole to go down yet (live is usually better but there are exceptions. Also some of their official videos ARE live. Then there are the songs toward the end that were never performed live) Also they do not block. I follow a guy who does various music but has about 203 Queen videos. None blocked. The making of "One vision" (shows them working and playing in the studio) and then the video of "One Vision" "I want to break free" official video "Don't stop me now" Official "Hammer to Fall" An obvious one that I see you have not done? "Bohemian Rhapsody" Official "Now I'm Here" Live HAMMERSMITH 1975 "Get Down Make Love" Live in Montreal 1981 And YES to many I have seen to do "Somebody to Love - Live Montreal" 1981 A non Queen Freddie song "Freddie Mercury & Montserrat Caballé - BARCELONA" (it was played the year after his death at the Barcelona Olympics) Suggestions for a solo Roger song is "I'm in love with my car" Montreal 1981 A Dr Brian May song (that has a long story behind it but when watching, know the pain you see is real) "Too much love will kill you" Official It's a start........
It’s hard to describe how different Queen were. Punk was the thing in the UK, much, much “harder” than what Americans and gen Z think punk was. But Queen were always a genre all to themselves.
Hello You must listen to the studio version, it is a true work of art. Freddie does all the backing vocals, but with bass, drums and guitar, it sounds amazing.
Just found you and have just watched all of them. You should also listen to, now I'm here, who wants to live forever, and love of my life all from Wembley 1986.
Mate, well done, Hyde park 200.000 audience is "Talking" eating hot dogs... but powerful Freddy, that can make 400.000 people scream... is asking for SILENCE and they obey to his hypnotic wish
This was...special. I'll be thinking of this one for a while. Hope you enjoyed, subscribe if you're new!

Some of the best harmonies I've ever heard are done in the official lyric video of this song
Its perfection. Heavenly.
We Queen fans out here know only Freddie could hold up a finger in front of a huge rock n roll loud audience and everything goes quiet. Only Freddie.
Amen. ❤
Just Freddie things
He breaks your heart.
Freddie’s voice absolutely flutters here- floats and takes your heart with him-
I wish to add that we are blessed by Freddie and his voice , we have God to thank for that..: to up lift people, give them hope, love and joy!!!!

This is the type of genuine heartfelt sincerity missing from music today.
Freddy was a gift.
Freddie ensured us a small insight into his soul with one of the most beautiful love songs. 🌹

I haven't heard this song in a long time.
It's perfect to hear it today, Nov. 24th 2022, the 31st anniversary of Freddie's passing.
This is such a special song.
Someone probably told you this already but just in case:
Dr.
The making of "One vision" (shows them working and playing in the studio) and then the video of "One Vision"
"I want to break free" official video
"Don't stop me now" Official
"Hammer to Fall"
An obvious one that I see you have not done? "Bohemian Rhapsody" Official
"Now I'm Here" Live HAMMERSMITH 1975
"Get Down Make Love" Live in Montreal 1981
And YES to many I have seen to do "Somebody to Love - Live Montreal" 1981
A non Queen Freddie song "Freddie Mercury & Montserrat Caballé - BARCELONA" (it was played the year after his death at the Barcelona Olympics)
Suggestions for a solo Roger song is "I'm in love with my car" Montreal 1981
A Dr Brian May song (that has a long story behind it but when watching, know the pain you see is real) "Too much love will kill you" Official
It's a start........
Love love this one his angelic voice agenius vocalist out of this world goes straight to your soul amazing thanks for your reaction ❤️ 💜 💕
200k ppl at this concert
Like Your Explanation about the song , Rather Deep yet simple
Excellent choice Salvo.i saw queen live around about this time , truly awesome band
It’s hard to describe how different Queen were. Punk was the thing in the UK, much, much “harder” than what Americans and gen Z think punk was. But Queen were always a genre all to themselves.
Just WOW ,thank you
Fred was completely turning himself inside-out here. Throwing it all out there as few ever do.
Freddie wrote this song for David Minns and he’s sitting in the audience.
Once again Salvo G drops the classics!!!!!!!
Superb version here love it love you
Hello You must listen to the studio version, it is a true work of art. Freddie does all the backing vocals, but with bass, drums and guitar, it sounds amazing.
This song is very special! You might want to try "It's Late" or "The Prophets Song". Both are written by Brian, but two totally different styles.
Great input….you might want to check out Liar at the Rainbow, all the guys are showcased in this.
Just found you and have just watched all of them. You should also listen to, now I'm here, who wants to live forever, and love of my life all from Wembley 1986.
❤❤ so beautiful I cry
Mate, well done, Hyde park 200.000 audience is "Talking" eating hot dogs... but powerful Freddy, that can make 400.000 people scream... is asking for SILENCE and they obey to his hypnotic wish
Have you reacted to Queen Live at Oden, Hammersmith “White Queen”?
It’s absolutely stunning!
