"My name is Maximus Decimus Meridius, Commander of the Armies of the North, General of the Felix Legions, loyal servant to the true emperor, Marcus Aurelius. Father to a murdered son, husband to a murdered wife. And I will have my vengeance, in this life or the next."
I replayed that 3 times
Such type of people live their life once in history and is still they lives in our heart as a God of War I personally would like to say rest in peace
One of my favourite quotes in the movie. Might have seen the scene more than 50 times just to memorise it.
Just Marvelous.....
i had a friend who died when he mixed some anxiety meds after drinking all day, then never woke up. I told him that gladiator was probably my favorite movie, he quickly agreed. I remember that day he was happy to have us around, and he didnt talk much...but when i brought up this movie...he qouted this exact set of sentences word for word. I often think, of him saying "in this life or the next" at the end, and hoping his soul is happy somewhere. Maybe even walking through a field with his hands running through the grass, just happy with his family and life....like maximus always envisioned going back to.
my fav
“Death smiles at us all, all a man can do is smile back”.
People who disliked this video..I have a question for you:
ARE YOU NOT ENTERTAINED?? IS THIS NOT WHY YOU'RE HERE????

That is the essence of multi-generational mass psychological harmonics.

Possibly the best movie. I dont think anything comes close to it. Gives me goosebumps everytime, a true master piece.
Kingdom of Heaven master piece
8:46 that part is so powerful you can feel the frustration and anger coming through the screen.
Dunno about that. I wouldn't even say it's Scott's best
@@errwhattheflipIt's HIS opinion and I agree with it. How is it "wrong?"
@@MaiklsNaits Kingdom of Heaven is a master piece. But it is no Gladiator.
This movie cannot be remade.
Don’t even put that idea out into the universe!!!
None can, originals are always superior to their copies.

Cannot and must not.
"You will meet them again, but not yet..."
a Strong and Faithfull word.
Can't beleive it's been 21 years since this movie released.
Makes us feel old or rather a confirmation of it 😂 just like landline phones and the birth of the internet
😢😮😊❤
As I have been watching Gladiator, I can’t help but thirst for a Maximus Prequel.
His rise from soldier of Rome, then becoming Its Greatest General. To then what Marcus Aurelius desired as a son. There is more than enough emotional mining that can be done.
Younger versions could be casted, and the story could be told through Luscille. Similar to how Ptolemy Narrated Alexander’s Story.
True but at the same time I don't want them to ruin it. I just can't see anyone else playing Maximus besides Russell Crowe.
If they made a book about his origin I would be thrilled
There was dream that was a prequel, it shall be realized.
Ridley Scott confirmed it if you havent seen it already. Im so hyped for it. Hope it turns out along the lines of how Top Gun did it. Nostalgic, epic, and just right.

The slave who became a gladiator.
The gladiator who challenges the emperor himself.
Striking story!
Now the people want to know how the story ends ..."
A Gladiator who defied an Emperor
“Sometimes I do what I want to do. The rest of the time, I do what I have to.” - Cicero, servant of Maximus.
In an interview Russel Crowe revealed that the script they had for this move consisted of only 22 Pages, normally it has 120 pages and more. So after the 22 Pages were used up they planned the shootings from day to day looking through different ideas and agreed on the best or picked the best from each idea.. Some days they had to give the crew a day off because they didn’t know what to shoot next
Unyet it's one of the best films ever....planning.. Who needs it
It seems the days off allowed them to be well rested enough to facilitate spontaneity while at work.
Truly one of the best movies ever!!
Even now, it holds up so well.
Mr. Ridley Scott; thank you genius.

What a character, tremendous acting, marvelous direction and BG score is to die for. Brilliant.
I never get tired of watching Gladiator.
I've seen it about 20 times and it's one of the very best movies ever made.
"He'll bring them death, and they will love him for it."
„This is a man of Rome.

Molte sono le cose che rendono questo film "senza tempo". Non importa che sia perfetto. Importa che ci faccia emozionare. L'umanità di Massimo dentro il suo eroismo. Questo film è unico e speciale. Sempre. Grazie per il video!
I love this movie and watched several times
AM I NOT MERCIFUL!!! Phoenix’s performance was a masterpiece!
7:36 as a Father, Husband, and lifelong fighter, this is one of the greatest scenes in cinema history.
Yup
This movie was...IS a Classic. The Quality of Performers in this Movie is absolutely a Tour de force and a powerful exit for so many Great Actors.
Yes Joaquin Phoenix did deserve an Oscar, but Rusty Crowe deserved the Oscar and the Movie WAS the Best Picture of the Year (Hell - Decade or MORE!!) Awesome Acting, Direction, Editing, Music,.... A Perfect Confluence of the Best of the Best.
Im sorry, I agree with you, I really do, but I have to say it. It's *Russell Crowe, not Rusty lol
Why is Commodus' speech about busy little bees not in here? That was intense and so well done!
What wonderful dialogue. What wonderful everything about that movie. Thanks to all involved in making such a great movie for everyone to live by.
This is forever in my mind ever since 2000. I always listen to the score while working out. Awesome
“Who will help me carry him?”
Your neighbor's wife.
I Will.
The greatest movie of all time. So great on so many levels!
I knew a man who once said death smiles at us all, all you can do is smile back... Brilliant quote 👏
Yep. Time to watch this again👍🏽
WHAT WE DO IN LIFE...ECHOES IN ETERNITY
There are few movies with scenes like this. The scenes envelope and overwhelms you. Completely immersing you in its moment.
my favorite quote is missing. Lucilla after the death of Maximus said: "Is Rome worth one good man's life? We believed it once. Make us believe it again. He was a soldier of Rome. Honor him... "
..."Your faults as a son is my failure as a father"..
one of the BEST MOVIES!!! If Richard Crowe never does another movie he will be known to me for this one. I can watch this movie for 5 days a week & weekends. It was beautifully made everything about it with only one exception but that's for another discussion. Great movie
what's the exception?
His name is *Russell Crowe, not Richard lol
Of all the Iconic Quotes on this movie, I settle with a subtle but a powerful one, and it came from the most unexpected actor: DEREK JACOBI, he uttered it to contradict a fellow Senator that is all praises to a stupid Caesar, "FOR ROME OR FOR YOU" and even the cam shot angle is positioned behind the actors, you could sense the Snicker Smile of Jacobi....A powerful question, one that can even be applied on every countries' election day.
*TIMELESS CLASSIC*
I love these pickups!!
'At my signal, unleash hell'
INCREDIBLE ACTORS. Incredible !
These types of movies are a glimpse into the past. This one seemed particularly accurate
More operatic than accurate. Rather a romantic vision of the time if you ask me.

7:22 “are we so different you and I” ummm wasn’t it you that got his family murdered and tried to get him killed too! This movie is making me feel more emotion that I’ve ever felt watching a movie/tv show!
This is the NWO in a nutshell
Gladiator is my favourite movie, it has everything you could want in a movie. Have you watched the whole thing from start to finish?
Even though rome has fallen long ago, its culture survived through the ages: honor, faith, strenght, even death.
yeah I´m missing three scencs: the first apprearence of Maximus in his legion, the last speech of Lucilla after Maximus died and the very last one when Juba burried Maximus´ little holy figure in the sand of the area.
iconic
This is a great movie .

Gladiators, I salute you
The cinematography ,,those editing software at those year 2000 truly makes one live life from the Colosseum and witness live,,no matter this new camera can't bring the originality feeling and yet newer stories and writing are rubbish and fast moving rather than feeling the fim,,
"I will give them something they've never seen before".
Best movie
Missed one of the best quotes: “OOooooOOOooOOOhhh” * twirls fingers in air *
Shadows & Dust Maximus!
I was 11 when this movie came out in cinema. My generation (89') was raised under the idea that one day all boys will one day become men and for that we need guidance, conviction and other valuable traits from an early age. Such traits are beautifully displayed by Maximus. However, the reality we find ourselves today (2024) in, is unexpectedly different. The media has unfairly made us the enemy, the ones responsible for the decay of society through a so called "patriarchy" that is simply a social system established by the world since ancient history and because of that, we have been marginalized, outcasted and we are loosing our purpose in the process. The establishment has turned the women and other minorities against us, the very providers of the social fabric of civilization. Even some men today agree with the fact that we are supposed to be more "submissive" which is completely backwards to what we've been taught throughout our youth. If all of this is true, this could mean that we are the last batch of a dying breed of men. Am I the only one that thinks this way? Drop a like if I'm wrong...
Games 150 days of games, he more clever than I thought “
OH MY GOD THAT'S RUSSEL CROWE ! ! !
