    This fix helped temporarily but I ended up having to replace the rollers to fix it better. Check out my updated video on how to fix the doors: th-cam.com/video/dOgN7E428-E/w-d-xo.html

      Grr!! My 2016 just popped open WHILE making a left turn! I had actually turned the automatic doors off and still did it. Also the Light sensor on the dash was NOT ON but that annoying ringing kept goin off ugh
      Thank you though im going to attempt to see if the thing is in the door.

    Praise The Lord for your tiny video. It took a headache away with this little how to video. My 2010 Odyssey rear driver door like yours was closing sometimes and not other times. I seen your video and tried your recommendation. I took it off. It was just barely glued on. I pulled it off and now the door works fine every time.

    This was my exact problem and has been plaguing me for over a year. Took off the piece of plastic and Wala problem solved!!! I was close to solving it but stumped after testing the button a few times. Decided to Google it and found your video first

    Hello. Thank you so much for making this video. I have a 2001 Honda Oddyssey. That plastic piece was causing my door not to latch. I took it off and the door latches.
    You saved me probably 2 hours of research, 3 hours manual labor, 2 hours of cussing.

      @@fathersonrepairdiy cool. I did that last week with some pliers and twisting of the wire notches so I wouldn't have to open the interior. So far so good.

    My issue was that when I would close the sliding door (driver side) the door would not seal completely and when I would put the van into Drive the van would beep continuously. So I removed this plastic piece and BOOM problem solved! Thanks for sharing!

      I had the same problem, did the door reset and now the whole door is totally dead!! :( I was hoping this would be our fix since this thing was also loose enough to fall off when we were messing with it. But now the door is totally dead electronic wise. What in the world did I do??!

    • @fathersonrepairdiy
      @fathersonrepairdiy  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey guys sorry I have not responded in so long. There is an electronic reset procedure you can do to get the doors to work again. I found the ultimate fix for my doors! I was told by a mechanic that to fix my door would be $1,000 but then I saw an awesome video by Eric the Car guy. I also made a few tips on how to do it: th-cam.com/video/dOgN7E428-E/w-d-xo.html After buying a $50 part and spending 2 hours I saved a thousand!!! Door works great now! I hated my van because the doors were so frustrating. Now I like it again!

      No problem! If you still have problems watch my other video on the sliding door fix. I eventually had to replace the rollers. A bit more work but helped a lot. Even a mechanic we took the van to did not fix it as well as I did.

    Years ago, I worked at the General Motors Desert Proving Grounds where I learned an important lesson. And that is, an automobile manufacturer doesn't put any part on a car they're making without a good reason. If these little plastic rain shields cost Honda 50 cents to put on a car, that adds up to a lot of money over the entire production run of the car. A couple of parts like that can add up to a $1,000,000 or more, so if it isn't needed, they don't install it. Also, that part looks to be very much like a rain gutter so that's probably what it's for -- to divert water away from the door lock mechanism. I've read on an Odyssey forum that moisture can be destructive to the complicated system of switches, levers, and latches within the door. Don't dismiss the likelihood of water penetration just because you live in a dry climate. Most cars get washed regularly...

    • @fathersonrepairdiy
      @fathersonrepairdiy  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Good point. I probably should have glued it back in place. This van probably only has 5-10 years left in it's usable life anyway so I figured it was not worth the effort. I do realize it could let some water in without that piece there. I did end up doing a better fix for my doors as seen here: th-cam.com/video/dOgN7E428-E/w-d-xo.html

    Would there be an independent fuse in a sliding passenger side door? Because, something in there that's what keeps draining my battery.. so, for now I disconnected the fuse under the hood..

    May not help people with this common unknown problem with Odyssey sliding doors. The latch is binding and the springs do not fully reset the latch cables nor the door switch. The alarm thinks the door opens. This also causes the auto matic door to not correctly close the rear latch or the symptom of the power door opening by itself randomly. Replace the expensive latch or manually add springs to force the levers into closed position after cleaning and lube.

    I noticed this with my 2005, but I cannot for the life of me get the door open to do anything it’s stuck just cracked open, won’t shut all the way so the sensor says it’s open and kills our battery if it’s connected too long so we have to always disconnect it. Any tips?? I’m desperate at this point

    I just want to get the back-left side of the passenger sliding door shut. The front of the door shuts where the latch is,but the rear of it there's about a 8 inch opening from not shutting.
    Can I shut this somehow where it will latch in the back ? The motor for the door quit and the a wheel on the wire broke trying to close it in an emergency.
    Don't have the money to professional fix it. Just want to get it closed. It makes the battery die if I don't unhook the positive terminal every time I drive it. Now my battery won't turn the motor over. Does anyone know if I can try to get the back to latch shut ? It''s a 2006 honda oddyssey. Thanks.

      I made a new video on the door. Replace the rollers as Eric the Car Guy shows. I saved myself a thousand dollars by doing it myself and it was not that hard. Took me about 2 hours of work: th-cam.com/video/dOgN7E428-E/w-d-xo.html

    can u help my sliding door had to be reset but the indicator that goes off when u put the van in gear it goes off and will not shut off even with the door shut

    • @fathersonrepairdiy
      @fathersonrepairdiy  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Watch my other video on how I replaced the rollers to make the doors work better. These automatic doors on the Odyssey were annoying but replacing the rollers worked better than what I show in this video. I'm not sure why the indicator will not shut off. It could be your door latch. I ended up selling my Odyssey and switched to a Toyota Sienna instead. Good luck!

    Hi .. same thing happening to my oddysey.. I remove those plastic parts as you did and it didn't work with mine..

    • @fathersonrepairdiy
      @fathersonrepairdiy  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Dang. I'm sorry it did not work. I also used an air compressor and vacuum to remove any debris from the track and I lubricated everything as best I could. Those electronic doors are annoying as they easily have problems. The door on the other side of this same van has issues with it getting stuck but I don't think its the plastic piece in that case. There are other videos out there on these doors I wish I knew other good tricks for them.

    • @fathersonrepairdiy
      @fathersonrepairdiy  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I only removed the plastic piece on one side of my van because it was loose and about to fall off on that side anyway. The door on the other side still has that plastic piece in place because it was still firmly attached so I left it there.
