  • Honda Odyssey (4th Generation and 5th Generation) models sliding door issue. I had a special issue that I didn't think was motor or control module related, but that is what the dealership wanted to replace. After a bunch of testing at the switches, control module, motor and the door I finally found the issue.

    Thumps up on getting the door to work! I was actually looking for videos on the issue i have with my 2016 today. I'm over here in the Midwest in January and when I took my van of the driveway it started beeping for no reason. I don't see any light on the dashboard if doors were open. I'm thinking something froze. Then found a video showing the only solution is the turn off the switch on the auto sliding doors. I did and worked but i had this switch on as far i can remember. Man, this auto sliding doors sometimes a pain that i wish mine came w/o this auto feature which i'm totally fine with.

      Yeah, my 07 had that issue where it would randomly beep as if a door was open. I had to just turn the auto-slide switch off while driving. I got to where so had to clean the contacts on the door and B-Pillar every 6 months to keep it working. Usually cleaning was a mixture of 2,000 grit sandpaper to get off any film and some brake clean on a rag.

    Thanks you for the information. I am looking for solutions for my sliding door not closing. It closed until the last seconds, beeping and open again. I will follow your steps to troubleshooting mine.

      Seems like that could be caused by the sensor on the front edge of the door that pushes against the B-pillar when it closes. It is a pinch sensor and when it goes bad, the door will close most of the way and then not go all the way due to the sensor. I mention it in mine, but it wasn’t my issue. There are some videos on YT that cover this which are worth checking out.

      That seems very coincidental, but not out of the possibilities. Check for any random grounds that might not be tight.

    ❤❤❤West Broad your in Richmond? I bought my accord there in 2012. Neither of my doors open or close now in this odysey. Not even a budge...

    • @TheDriveTrain
      @TheDriveTrain  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yep, good old RVA. There are a few different items to check depending on exactly what he “not even a budge” means. Often with age the cables die which then kills the motor that is in the back of the van. Also, the actual rollers that run along the back of the door and slide down the outside of the van will die. Finally, if the doors don’t open (at all) it’s usually related to the latches that are inside the door.

    Thanks for the video. What is the name of part from 12:10 (the electric connector)? I recently got a snapped one.

      The connectors themselves are just different sized molex plugs, but they are specifically on the (and part of) the part that I swapped in this van which I have the exact part name in the description of the video.

    where can i find the fuse reset/open close steps? i've seen several mentions of them but never a description of how to preform the test.

      I found the instructions on an Odyssey Forum. This should point you in the right direction. www.odyclub.com/threads/resetting-the-power-sliding-doors.48109/

    I am having a weird problem with my door. The door opens and closes perfectly fine OR it won't open at all. Not sure what's up. I checked the "usual culprits" according to online sources. Any thoughts on trying this solution even if the door is opening and closing intermittently?

    • @TheDriveTrain
      @TheDriveTrain  5 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Intermittent issues usually lead me to check the actual switches as they can go bad with age. If it is just on the driver side, you can also check the fuel door switch to see if it is working intermittently and causing your door. It to work. These vans have all of the switches and motors intertwined so it might take a little investigating with a multimeter to find your issue.

    10:57 what is power and ground?

    • @TheDriveTrain
      @TheDriveTrain  หลายเดือนก่อน

      Power and ground was just me connecting an extra 12v source to the two wires inside the motor to find out if it would move. There are two wires on every motor and with 12v on one side it will move one direction and if you flip the wires so 12v is on the other side it will move the motor the opposite direction.

      I’m not sure if that is a question or statement, but yes, the body style changed in 2011 which is why I have 2011-2020 listed in the title of the video.

      @TheDriveTrain  25 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Not sure exactly what you mean. I replaced the cable and everything works great. It’s still one of our daily drivers and totes our kids around everywhere with no problems. This repair was about 6-8 months ago at this point.
