1986 Sauber C8 Group C: Mercedes 5.0 Twin-Turbo V8 Roar at Monza Circuit!

- The Sauber C8 was the first prototype of the Swiss company built in collaboration with Mercedes-Benz and introduced in 1985 for the 24h Le Mans race. For 1986 two more chassis were built and raced for a full season of the World Sportscar Championship under the Kouros Racing Team name. It was able to achieve a victory with drivers Henri Pescarolo and Mike Thackwell at the 1986 1000km of Nürburgring.
The car is powered by a Mercedes M117 5.0-liter twin-turbo V8 engine able to produce around 700 hp and 800 Nm of torque and reaching a top speed of 370 km/h. Watch and hear it in action during the 2019 Monza Historic racing weekend by Peter Auto.

Everyone is drooling over the sound (me included) but I'm more impressed by how ominous and badass this car looks in black and white.
Midnight blue, it was a subtle nod to the Greek colours
Not surprised to see Henri Pescarolo name on this one. The guy drove all the "suicide car"' of Le Mans.
Philipe jeucéoututkache When I hear Pescarolo I think fast lol. There was a Pescarolo Race Car in Gran Turismo that beat every car I owned.
The real suicide cars were the F1 and LM cars of 1906-1973. Everything after that got more and more safe. I'd say either Stirling Moss (due to racing in the last era of the true open races) or Jackie Ickx had the most rides in suicide cars.

Yours is the only racing channel that I would call soothing on the brain. I know that if I were at Monza I would notice the sound level, here at home I can be soothed into a nap with these sounds.
Funny how it still sounds identical to the C9 and C11, when in fact it has a different engine (M117, compared to the M119 in C9/C11).

Roman Albrecht Mercedes you dingleberry!! Benz was still a separate company. When they combined they became daimler adopting Mercedes-Benz as the name of the cars as there was already a daimler in England.
Saw this very car come 8th at the Silverstone 1000km 1986. Group C cars were just fabulous.

H. Pescarollo was a race driver at that era. He had his own le mans team later. French race legend.

Not as good as nascar v8 sound, I think the turbo hurts the sound quite a bit in character and volume, but still sounds great overall
